What's great about it: Easy setup, electronics can be hidden inside cabinets, touch screen
My husband and I had been talking about getting an RF remote for a long time, not only to get rid of the 4 remotes we had, but also to be able to close the cabinet doors where our electronics are stored. We bought this on sale for $299 and even though it is still a lot of money for a remote, it is totally worth it! The setup was a breeze, took no more than 30 minutes. I added our BD player, TV, receiver and U-verse box and set up 2 activities (of course the more electronics you have and the more activities you want to create, the longer the setup process will be). We also bought the RF extender, which I setup together with the remote. Everything but the TV is controlled by the RF extender, with the cabinet doors closed! We've only had this remote for 3 days, but I love it! The only con is the little bit of delay between the time you press a button and the time the different electronics react. But that can probably be improved if we use the dual IR emitters that came with the RF extender. Still, being able to operate everything with a touch of a button and more importantly with the cabinet doors closed has been wonderful!

What's great about it: Easy setup and everything works
What's not so great: nothing
I have had this device for about a month now and I am very happy with it. I bought it on sale for $245 and probably would not have paid the list price of $345. I have 10 devices and 12 activities programmed. I also have programmed a few "soft keys". The programming is very easy and can be done quickly. I would highly recommend this product if you are willing to pay the price.

What's great about it: Ease of use, ease of set up and flexibility
What's not so great: Price
Have had this remote for 2 days now and am totally impressed with it functionally. I may be a little more tech savy than the average person but I woulnd't classify myself as a hard core technical user. I had the general use set up completed quickly, and in about 15 minutes it was up and running. No issues what so ever. I spent maybe another 30 minutes customizing some of the button controls for about 4 different devices, but in 45 minutes, completely done. I have it now set to control my HD Tv, an A/V receiver, Blu-ray player, comcast cable box and Apple Tv. All working great now. Had to do a quick internet search to resolve an item with the Apple Tv menu button, but only took a minute to see that i had to custom a button for that. Once I knew that, only tookl a minute. So far I love it, and love not having to switch between 6 different remotes. Only draw back is that it is pretty expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. And what you get is a top notch product. Hopefully it has durability too, but we will see as time goes on.

Replaced 6 remotes with one. Had the Geek Squad come out and set everything up. Very happy with my decision to purchase this device. Well worth the money.

What's great about it: look and feel
What's not so great: requires a little tweaking to get a complex system just right
I'm still learning the nuiances of this remote;however, i really like the flexibility and respoonsiveness. I will probably buy the extender, at which time, the harmony 1100 will have no equal. I will keep my trusty Harmony 550 as a backup unit and use it for the bedroom system.

What's great about it: Harmony remote database and programing application are great
What's not so great: not as flexible, not as easy to hold compared to the 900
I already had the Harmony 900 for a theater system in a different part of the house. Wanted to try the 1100 as I liked the look of it. Turns out I returned it for a few reasons:
Not as easy or comfortable to hold at the 900
There seems to be more limitations programming wise/screen wise than I expected. Especially when the 1100 is mainly a touch screen.
Because of the layout I found myself having to look at the remote for reference much more that on the 900
While the 1100's touch screen is nice, it did not turn out as flexible as I expected and thus having more "hard" buttons that the 900 has was for me a major point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Nothing.
What's not so great: Touchscreen, device compatiblity, cheap plastic design
About five minutes after setup of my new Harmony 1100, I took my old Harmony 700 off eBay and will continue using it. I'll be brief, but here are the huge negatives I encountered:
1. Touchscreen was horrible compared to current tablet/phone screens we have all become use to.
2. Trying everything, I could not get the 1100 to work correctly with my Yamaha RX-V671 AV receiver. The 700 I have used for the last couple of years has no problems whatsoever.
3. Setup is not web-based, and because it was a "different" remote, I had to completely reenter all of my device/activity information thus losing all of that data that I had already entered. I will now have to do it again to re setup my 700.
Logitech is in desperate need of a new flagship remote. The 1100 is outdated and actually feels quite cheap in your hands. I would have to imagine that with the built-in RF and for the same price, the 900 would be a much better remote to go with.
Stay clear of this awful remote!

What's great about it: It will eventually work all of your device
What's not so great: Most everything
Overall touch and feel of the harmony 1100 is very cheap and delicate.
The online software is slow to do anything. Logitechs attempt to keep this software user friendly have over complicated the setup.
You have to set up "Activities" this is supposed to simplify everything by what you want to do. Play games, watch tv, play DVD, ect. This is supposed to turn all the required equipment on and off, and also select the proper inputs. This is great, but it rarely lands on the proper input.
I don't have a traditional setup. I don't have a DVD player, or a cable box. I use a media center pc to do all of this. The pc takes care of all of my DVD, bluray, tv tuning needs. There is an option to setup a media center pc, but you can't select it in the Watch tv, or play DVD wizard. You can manually add it to the activity but, you can't control it with the remote unless you set all of the ir commands for the tv remote to the pc remote. This works but then you lose control of tv set.
Since I have an Xbox elite this is the only device that the harmony remote thinks is the only DVD player, this is the only thing it will let me set up as a DVD player.
I had to create 6 different fake pieces of equipment to control 1 the way i wanted it to. It gets very confusing. So yes it is a universal universal remote you can make it work with enough time and creative working around the poor software.
Ir output is very weak. 15' seems to be max range for the range of the remote.
Long and short is if you only have 2 remotes you probably won't be willing to spend 350.00 on a remote that's a pain to setup.

What's great about it: Full support/function of original remote
What's not so great: Somewhat complicated to program, even with the gui.
Lost my original remote and could no longer access menu features of my TV. Tried generic replacements and still no luck. Purchased this remote and in short order I was able to access the needed menu options of the TV.
I have consolidated many other remotes into this one remote and have even been able to chain their processes for cable box, TV and stereo. All with the single push of a button.

What's great about it: Universal control, Easy to set up, Easy to control.
What's not so great: Can't control Logitech Squeezebox :(
When this remote went on sale, I certainly had to go purchase it. The set-up process was extremely easy using my laptop while sitting right in front of my home theater set-up. The only complaint I have about this remote is its inability to control my Logitech Squeezebox. When I purchased this remote I didnt even think about it not being about to control the squeezebox as they are both manufactured by Logitech. But after I got home and set it up, I learned that the remote cannot control the squeezebox because it is IR capable only and not WiFi capable. But the overall function of the remote is AMAZING, and the ease of control is very simple. It is definitely one of the EASIEST universal remotes on the market today. I most certainly would recommend this remote to anyone, tech savvy or not, GO GET IT!!

What's great about it: Simple to use once configured.
What's not so great: Price, I should be able to make phone calls and surf the web for this price.
This remote works well but it does take knowledge of the devices you are connecting to it. Once you have it configured for the hardware you have it works very well. After adding all your devices setting up activities is simple you choose the activity you want to set up IE: Watch a movie and it knows what devices are normally used to accomplish this from the devices you have available. It will ask you to confirm what items it thinks you want to use and also confirms what device controls the volume and what input\output the devices use to perform (Watch Movie).

What's great about it: Sophisticated looking
What's not so great: Will not control all devices
Bought this remote in hopes of controlling every device known to man like it claims... BEWARE, this remote will not control certain devices.. I have a google tv and this remote will not work with it at all because the google tv box is controlled via rf frequencies. I did not know this and would not have purchased this remote for that reason. Next is the issue with not having custom setups available. I have two fireplaces that I could control with the remote if it would let me put that in there somewhere but it doesn't. Anyway the remote is cool and does alot but it definitely is not worth the 400 bucks.

What's great about it: it was ok.. not the best remote
What's not so great: the customer support.
This company was once a fantastic company.. until recently. I've seen a huge decline in it's service and overall product quality. I had this remote until this weekend when i was prompted by the Logitech Harmony Software (provided by them) to upgrade the firmware.. This completed safely.. and asked me upgrade the remote software. Which is when I learned that the remote NO LONGER had the ability to communicate with the computer, rendering it BROKEN. I called tech support.. they confirmed that the remote was broken and then offered me the most insulting of all .. a 50% discount on a new remote. Which is frustrating because the remote was working fine yesterday and today after the firmware.. is broken.. Now they suggest I spend more money to get it working again..
I don't know what happened to this company.. I've been a loyal customer of logitech for years... until this where i will NEVER buy anything from them again.
I"m moving my entire AV system over to my ipad. roomie remote or iRule.
Please do yourself a favor and pass this product by.

What's great about it: Easy to use, does almost everything I want it to do
What's not so great: Issues during the setup process, no OS X Lion support
My experience wasn't hellish but it wasn't as smooth as it should have been and I still have one outstanding issue. I'll start off at the end. I bought this with the RF Extender and now that everything is configured correctly, I couldn't be happier with the setup - one remote for everything and very easy to use.
Value for Price - I gave that a 3. It's a great toy but at the price it should, amongst other things, give flawless Mac support - it doesn't as you will see in many other reviews. I couldn't get the software to work on Mac OS X Lion in 32-bit or 64-bit mode so I had to do all my configuration on my HP laptop. Not a huge deal but if you don't have a Windows machine then you are going to be struggling. So I docked it one star for poor OS support.
Ease of Use - VERY easy to use once you have it setup.
Easy of Set Up - Just 3 stars because the setup process is involved and my experience was very mixed. I had an issue where the remote was switching my TV to the incorrect input (an input that wasn't even configured for use in any activity) and I had to program it a couple of times before it worked. I should say that I initially started out using Component 1 and switched to Component 2 and I programmed all my activities to use the different input but something was still funky. I played around with the inputs for the TV under the devices menu and it eventually just worked even though I didn't actually change any of the settings. I also have an issue where the remote will not switch off my XBox 360 - all it does it switch it into "StandBy" mode i.e., no image on TV but fan / hard drive still spinning and light on remote charger is on. So if I am on my XBox I need to go into the devices menu and press Off twice. I programmed my activity to do that, with appropriate delays, but it still doesn't turn the XBox off. On the positive side, I was able to locate all my devices very easily and the UI is pretty easy to use.......the process just took a lot longer than it should have. I think some people will have problems like this whereas other people will just plug n play with no issues at all. My experience merits just 3 stars.
Durability - 4 stars because the unit feels pretty solid but I can't tell after a couple of days.
Overall I gave this 5 stars even though I had issues setting it up (which is reflected in the "Ease of Set Up" rating. I just love this remote, especially with the RF extender. I had issues with some of my original remotes not working all the time (especially TiVo) but with the RF Extender and RF bugs, I have no issues.

What's great about it: Flexibility
What's not so great: Programming complex systems with many remotes
First of all, I read almost every review here before I bought this product, and have empathy for those that had difficulty setting it up. I bought this remote mostly for others (my girlfriend) that had difficulties with different "activities" that emcompassed up to 6 remotes.
With that being said, if you just have a "XYZ" home theatre in a box and a TV and receiver this is a fairly straight forward setup. However, if you have a complex media system, as I do, and want to set up a lot of different activities it will take some patience. For example, I wanted different start-up button to watch TV off the air, watch TV with the Dish box only, and watch TV with dish box and home theatre. In addition watch movie with surround and a plethora of other scenarios. (digital music from ipod, PS3 etc)
I spent about an hour setting up the basics. The database is fairly adequate for existing models of components you might use, so there was not a lot of "learning" the remote had to do. However I did have great difficulty with a new Sharp 60" LED that caused a great deal of frustration. see below....
I could not for the life of me get the TV to turn on and switch to antenna mode. I tried several (many) shortcuts, and reverted to calling support. The girl I talked to in support seemed knowledgeable, but not to the point I expected. I spent three hours on the phone, with her taking control of my unit and adding some commands to persuade the TV to go to TV input. Finally she said that was all she could do, and it must be a Sharp issue. Now comes the heros... I logged into the support page called "community"and found out this is really the way to go...
I have solved several "issues" to date, and am ready to jump into several more.
I still have to use other remotes for some activities, but I'm sure eventually I will get it solved.
Perhaps later I will raise my rating to 4, but for a complex home theatre system it has been excrutiating to get programmed.
I almost returned the unit, but took a couple days off and hit the support forums...
FWIW I am a broadcast engineer by trade...
Your mileage may vary... Good Luck..

What's great about it: Easy to set up, Ease of use, Charger Docking Station, Not an Eye Sore, Size for what it does, Light weight, Responsive
What's not so great: Too new, nothing yet.
This remote replaced another that claimed to do it all, but had its little quirks. Everything from ease of setup, customization and functionality is excellent. Granted, I am more tech savvy than most people I am acquainted with, but with a little playing around during the setup and editing processes, you can get this remote to do anything you need for your home theater setup. Even controls your PS3 with a very inexpensive add-on from Logitech (because PS3 is Bluetooth).
I would recommend this to a friend!
