What's great about it: Stylish TOC design,. Box comes with cables (not HDMI). Text looks good. What's not so great: Poor color consistency, backlight bleed, no hieght adjustment (knew this before purchase), Poor viewing angles.
"If you are looking for a decent monitor for text than this might be a decent choice. However, if you are looking for a monitor to handle graphic editing, games, etc.. than look elsewhere.
This monitor has a bright screen and clear text displaying properties. The issues arise when one is looking for good color realism and light consistency. This monitor is noticabley darker on the top than the bottom and has poor backlight bleed (run the "Blank" screensave in WinXP to see what I am referring too). When viewed in a dark room, a "solid color" background exhibits faint patches of darker color. The plastic TOC bezel is stylish but also reflects what is on the monitor.
With regards to gaming, the above applies here as well with the addition of somewhat noticable input lag. Anybody who is coming from a CRT will more tha likely immediately notice this when playing a fast pasced first-person shooter like Call of Duty: World at War or Counterstrike, for instance. For games that do not require this quick movement the input lag is much less noticable. Also keep in mind that this monitor has no hieght adjustment and lackluster tilt adjustment.
The T240HD model is similar to this one oly it includes a TV tuner. That monitor will be very similar to this one only it will also have a higher level of input lag and more conections. It is desined moslty for people who would like to watch TV and/or use their console platforms. If you do niether and are deadset on this T240 or the T240HD, avoid the T240HD (also avoid the T260HD in favor of the T260).
Overall. this monitor is "decent" for some applications but mediocre at best for others. For websurfing and text applications, this monitor peovides the end-user with an adequate tool for the job, however, for this use there are cheaper (and in fact better) monitors out there. The included cables are nice and may provide "some" value, but that hardly justifies the cost of this monitor."

"This monitor is sweet.
I read a lot, and an interesting fact about the LCD system is that there is no way to display black. So monitors use darkenned blue to compensate. This monitor with it's 20000 gradients from darkest black to whitest white makes that fact irrelevant. Which is why this is truly one of the best displays ever.
The motion blurring isn't the best available. I mean the retention of an image that has supposedly moved isn't updated as fast as some other monitors. However it is much better than anything on the market last year and is better than amazing outside of the lab."

"This monitor is great. I've been shopping around for a 24" monitor, and I've had to send several monitors back because they had dead pixels. Such a pain when that happens. This monitor had NO DEAD PIXELS! Not even one! I'd attribute that to the Samsung name, as in my experience they make extremely high performance and reliable products. I also have a 42" plasma from samsung and its been wonderful as well.
Bottom line is: Buy this monitor now if you want the best 24" monitor for the price. There may be deals on websites offering other monitors for $50 less, but those budget monitors will look washed out and will likely ship with dead pixels.
This thing is the real deal. A true high end monitor for a low price - they don't come better than that."

"I bought 2 of these for home office and gaming use about a week ago and couldn't be happier! The picture is gorgeous and honestly the only complaints that I have are: 1.The fact that since the screen is set about 1/8 of an inch into the bezel there is a slight reflection from pictures (icons, etc..) on that edge which really doesn't detract from the over all quality. 2.Having the USB 2.0 hub is a great idea for a monitor this size since it will take up a fair amount of real estate on your desk but, the inputs are in the back behind the removable cover which makes it extremely inconvenient to use them, especially since the monitor does not swivel on its base.
Other than these minor issues, they have been great purchases and both my graphic work and my MMO's are a pleasure to see on these monitors. I highly recommend them for the price!"

"I upgraded this from a Viewsonic 19" CRT. What a HUGE difference! I'm very pleased with the performance and aesthetics and that I can set this back further almost against the back of the computer desk. The 19" CRT was WAY too massive/heavy and sat right on the edge of the computer desk. I like the quality, fit and finish compared to other "generic" wide screen LCD monitors. 24" is just right to see two pages of anything side by side. The mount is easy to assemble - no tools required and it also swivels and pivots. The matte finish means little glare except in near-direct sunlight - absolutely no reflections. The touch power button takes a little getting used to, but pretty cool feature. I agree the onscreen menu is a little hard to navigate through because the buttons are on the side and a bit hard to figure out what does what by feel. But I don't use them, so just a minor thing. I decided to buy from a local store vice on-line retailers so that I could take this in to a "person" rather spend $$$ on shipping and waiting without a monitor in case of a problem. I recommend this highly - great upgrade from a CRT or smaller LCD."

"i have the older version of this monitor (syncmaster 2493hm). i am a graphic design major, so the size and color quality of this monitor works out great. the only complaint i have is the touch button labels are almost impossible to see. i plan on hooking up a ps3 soon, so the hdmi input was a big selling point."

What's great about it: Matte screen does not produce glare or reflections, excellent contrast and black level. What's not so great: On screen display is a pain to use, bezel's high gloss attracts fingerprints.
"Well, with recent advances in Graphic cards and with prices dropping, my good ol Samsung 930b 19in was getting long in the tooth. Since I had great luck with my 930b and Samsung is recommended by friends, family, and even the Geeksquad repair guys, I decided to give the Touch of Color models a look. While I was at it, I also compared it to the Gateway FHD2400 floor model. Initially, I was leaning towards the Gateway - it has the better onscreen menu, a larger variety of connection options and a higher response rate, but it also has the highly reflective glossy screen and because its brighter, you will get a higher degree of backlight bleedthrough in darker scenes. Furthermore, the gateway only has a 1 year warranty whereas the Samsung has a 3 year warranty. I did have to make three trips to exchange the monitor because two of them had stuck pixels, but the third time was the charm and I got a flawless display. The touch of color blown glass look is elegant and refreshing as long as you keep your fingers away as the high gloss finish is a fingerprint magnet. Stuck pixels aside, this is an excellent product with great black level and vivid colors on screen and I would recommend this anyday."
