What's great about it: Extremely versatile smartphone. The greatest thing is that it is NOT made by Apple and it's NOT an iPhone!
What's not so great: Camera does not work properly. Going to have to take it back to BestBuy.
This is my third BlackBerry device. (This is my first one for personal use - the other two were provided by my employer for work.) I think they're awesome devices, and this one is the bomb.
This is the first one I have had with a camera. The camera took great photos and videos for a couple of days. Now the screen (viewfinder) looks very low resolution and the photos are just a small white box with a red "X". The photo files are also not viewable on a computer. I have checked all the settings and it seems to be a hardware or firmware problem. I guess I'll have to take it back to BestBuy for an exchange.
Slacker Radio works extremely well on this BlackBerry. If you have not tried that, I recommend that you do.

What's great about it: Nothing great
What's not so great: Not user friendly. Not easy to find the right app. to make changes.
I haven't been able to figure out how to use my phone as a modem. It is not easy to keep from turning on the phone or activating the camera while it is in my case or when trying to remove it from my case. I do like the navigation option to find your destination. I consider myself computer literate but I still have trouble figuring out these apps. I will recommend this item to a friend only if he/she is more computer savy than me.

What's great about it: It's a Blackberry! :)
What's not so great: Not so great internet
I loved my Blackberry for use just as a phone for talk and texting. I really liked how easy it was to navigate and just the feel of the phone. I did not at all like having to use the internet on it, it just isn't easy. I also didn't like that the mapping can't find my exact location, it usually maps me a couple of block from where I really am so I'm still lost even after it maps me. I've had the iphone and I like this much better than the iphone. I have the Blackberry Storm now though and the Storm is everything I could have dreamed of in a phone!!! But for the price, the Curve was very good to me!

What's great about it: Excellent messaging options with great battery life
What's not so great: Poor documentation
I have had my Blackberry Curve (Red) from Sprint for three weeks now and I have been quite happy with the device so far with only one or two quibbles.
Pros:
Incredible battery life
Very stable operating system
Excellent messaging capabilities
3.5mm standard headphone jack
Easily customized via third party theme packs
Very light compared to the weight of other smartphones
Cons:
Keys could stand to be a bit larger
Finger print magnet
Trackball navigation takes a little getting used to
Long startup times. Very long!
Low screen resolution (320X240)
Very poor documentation
At this point I've gotten fairly comfortable navigating around the phone and it's menu system but it wasn't an easy start requiring more than a little trial and error along with a lot of online reading. However, now that I've gotten the basics down pat as well as some more advanced feature use under my belt I have to say I now see the allure of the Blackberry platform! It just "Works"!
Blackberry's are designed to be left on 24/7 and as such their boot up times make booting up a low end desktop computer running Windows Vista seem fast by comparison. We're talking almost two minutes from pressing the power button (or inserting the battery which turns the device on automatically) to usable phone. Now, with that being said I'd like to take this time to point out I've turned off my phone only twice in three weeks and had to do a reset once (by pulling the battery out for 30 seconds). One of the times I turned the phone off was to restart the device after the installation of some third party themes.
Speaking of themes, there are plenty out there to be found, both free and not free. If you don't like the ones that come stock on the BB Curve 8330 then you won't have a problem finding ones that you do like. One note of interest that I did not find addressed in any documentation that came with the phone is that once you get a theme customized (folders and items moved around) it's only for that theme. You'll have to move everything around again when you switch themes. The upside is that if you switch back to a previous theme you customizations are still there.
One thing I highly recommend to anyone buying this phone is to update the operating system to the new BB OS 4.5. You'll get built in HTML email support and a slightly improved web browser along with MMS support. One problem I ran into was not the fault of RIM though. Do NOT try to update the OS from a PC running Windows 7 Beta! It won't work and you may brick your phone (which can be fixed easily enough so don't panic). The update only works on a Vista or XP machine.
The web browser that comes with the phone is a bit of a mixed bag. It works well enough for me and if you dig into the options you'll see where you can easily switch "modes" to make the browser appear to servers as either the Blackberry Browser, Pocket IE, desktop IE, Open Wave WAP browswer, or desktop Mozilla Firefox browser. Very handy if you want to view the full desktop experience. Again, I did not find any of this in the documentation but through trial and error.
If you get the phone as an upgrade, as I did, then you will have to speak to someone at Sprint to activate the phone. It will not activate online through their ESN switching site. Also, don't forget to head to the Sprint Blackberry Internet Services site to lot in and set up your email accounts, up to ten of them. After you set up the emails (Gmail in my case) you'll also need to send out the service books via the site.
There are lots more things that makes this a very nice smartphone, especially compared to Windows Mobile devices. Just be prepared for a slight learning curve (no pun intended) if you're new to the Blackberry platform. If you are patient and give the platform a chance I think you'll be very happy with this device.

What's great about it: Easy to use, Applications, E-mail
What's not so great: Need to get some sort of a case and screen protector
There is so many good things about this phone. This phone is absolutly the easiest phone to use. My mother who is 50 years old got this phone after using only a antique flip phone for several years and absolutly fell in love with it. She had tried a palm os smart phone prior and she couldn't figure it out, and honestly it just didn't compare. I am completely satisfied with my Blackberry and frankly I am scared to ever stray away from using their phones.

What's great about it: Email workhorse, clear sharp screen, nicely done keyboard
What's not so great: SMS is not true threaded texting
I've owned or used almost the full line of Palm, including the Treo 650, 700p, 750, 800w and the Centro. After having various issues with the 800w, I moved to the BlackBerry platform, specifically the 8330 Red Curve on Sprint. I was a bit apprehensive, as this was not just a cell phone change but a move to a different OS altogether. Imagine my surprise when I've found my transition to be smooth and eventless. There are superb user forums for the BlackBerry platform, which I have used and become more educated from. As for the phone, how refreshing it has been to have bluetooth work flawlessly, a speakerphone that is clear and crisp. Although a slightly lower resolution screen than I've grown accustomed to, it is hard to tell since RIM makes the screen on the Curve so sharp and crisp. With a new OS upgrade now available, version 4.5.0.131, Sprint now offers MMS to BB users. The GPS works great as well, especially the Sprint Navigation. Hands down I have now joined the ranks of the CrackBerry addicts, as this phone just plain works. This is by far the best smartphone I've ever owned or operated. My next upgrade will be to the BlackBerry Bold whenever it comes to Sprint! Oh, and I've already gotten two friends to move to the BB Curve, and both are very happy with the move.

What's great about it: Keyboard vs. Keypad
What's not so great: the phone in general
Originally had the Instinct and didn't like the touchscreen, was recommended to get the Curve instead. I was really excited to get one because I had heard such great things about Blackberry's in general and the Curve. I am on my 2nd phone in 2 months. With both phones I have experianced the same problems. It restarts a couple times a day, everything is delayed (texts, voicemails come in hours later-sometimes 24 hours later or not at all), it doesn't ring over half the time so calls don't register as missed and you have no idea anyone called because the voicmail doesn't come until the next day. I was originally told it had picture mail but recently found out that this particular phone is not picture mail compatable. I have never had any problems with any of my cell phones until buying this one. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONE.

What's great about it: Ease of use, amazing features, expandable memory up to 16GB!!!
This amazing little phone is a big force to be reckoned with. With it's powerful 2 Megapixel camera you can take videos and pictures to share with friends and family or possibly a client. The sleek design makes the Blackberry a discreet tool to use in booking appointments or anything else you may need it for. I don't need a laptop with a fully functional browser and tons of applications available at my fingertips. I run a catering business, and honestly my Blackberry is all I need to get the job done!
