What's great about it: Features, Easy to Use, Most Features Are Auto Set
"I love my new toy!!!! I bought this camera last Thursday just in time for my son's weekend football games. Lucky for me he scored a TD in both games and I got to shoot both scores with my Canon. This camera has so many features that I haven't learned them all but from what I learned I love it. The software the comes with the camera is great as well. For $699 I got the camera,bag,memory card 8GB, built in flash, etc. The parents and coaches love the pics I showed them thus far. This camera has alot and the top of the line brand makes it even better."

Terrific Camera, Great Pictures

"I looked at this camera in the store and went home to read the reviews before I bought it. I ended up back in the store within an hour and walked out with the package deal they advertised in the store. I came out with the camera and included lense, an extra battery, the 70-300mm lense and a neat backpack case for $799. I took the camera to a local airshow that I went to the day before with a cheap nikon pocket camera and took some of the best pictures I've ever taken.
This camera is VERY easy to use with the auto settings and it should be somewhat simple to learn the other features with a little toying around. I've wanted to buy one of these SLR cameras for a long time, but always thought they were too complicated to use. That is NOT the case with this camera. The rapid-fire continuous shooting is awesome and allowed me to get some GREAT photos of aircraft and skydivers.
I recommend this camera to everyone that's thought about buy their first SLR, this is the one to get without breaking the bank.
The picture I've added in the review is of a C-47 doing an WWII airdrop demonstration. I was 3000ft away horizontally and the aircraft was 1000ft above the ground. The picture is with full zoom and in continuous shooting mode. I've cut the image size down from the original 3.3mb to 174k and the quality is still impressive"

"What a graet camera. Features include : stop action, low light, macro, you name it and this camera has it. A big improvement over last years' xti, because this camera allows you to shoot in the 'RAW' format, which lets you adjust lots of shooting features after you take the picture."

Great for Sports

"I bought this camera for taking sports pictures.
Football and basketball. The first time I used it was at a football game and I stayed in the stands. Pictures were okay, didn't stop the action very well. 2nd game I went closer to the action and WOW what a difference. Pictures were crisp and clear, action stopped. I love this camera. I have a film EOS Rebel and loved it until I dropped it and it wouldn't work.....I have a zoom lense for the old camera that I know will fit my new one, but it is lost in my house somewhere.......
I do recommend this camera."

What's great about it: Excellent pictures, great features, tons of Canon lens to buy
What's not so great: takes some time to get use to, but easy to take great pictures out of the box
"I'm a novice point-and-shoot camera user, so i wanted to move up to a more advanced camera. The raw mode on this camera is great, however unless you are taking "serious professional shots" it's not needed. I would recommend an UV filter for it (for outside shots and it does protect your lens for $10). Eventually you will need a new lens, but since there are so many canon lenses available, I want to learn this one than get it when i get better. Another thing is this does have the dust cleaning mechanism that the 12 mp and more expensive rebel's have, so that is definitely a plus. I feel like i got much more of camera than I paid for, definitely professional grade!"

"If you're on the fence about moving up to a nice digital SLR but don't want to drop the coin on a $2,000 camera, this just may be the ticket. It has a slew of high-end features, uses the same lenses as the other Canon SLRs (widest selection of any company) and remains very user-friendly. I've had mine for 4 months and got two lenses (local store package-deal sale) and have loved it so far. The rechargeable battery seems to last forever even under heavy usage and recharges in very short order.
I really wish they would have retained the CF memory card format though as I have so many of them."

"i have gotten a sony cybershot and it was an okay 1st camera but then it broke so i got this one. and boy does it beat that cybershot.
this got professional grade snap shots. it has an amazing quality of picture and the cp card fits into my computer perfectly. the screen wont show you what picture you are taking but that is okay.
all in all this has some of the most simplest task settings for an slr. to me it is a good buy and you will like it."
