What's great about it: Good picture clarity; easy to use; small
What's not so great: none yet

"Have had this for about a week: Remember to load the software from the disc that is provided-otherwise you may get sound, but no picture. Granted this isn't a professional type camcorder, but for the amatuer it does the job nicely. Still experimenting with the settings, but with good light indoors, it takes good pictures. Outside filming is very good. Still trying to find a way to convert the files to something that will be usable on a DVD and a regular DVD player. Otherwise, will store the clips on memory cards."

"DO NOT GET THIS CAMCORDER. I really hate this camcorder it takes blurry pictures and videos with lines all over it. Bad images and videos. Also this camera does not cooperate with my computer at all and doesn't let me show my videos. If you're going to invest in a camera, getting a more expensive one isnt a big deal especially if the quality is better and it will last longer. my OLD digital camera took better videos and pictures. Get the PowerShot A560, MUCH better than this TERRIBLE TERRIBLE camcorder. O and if you like to upload pictures and videos on your computer, don't get this camera. The memory on the camera shorts out on me, the battery life is short, and Ive exchanged it for another one, they're all the same. THERE IS A REASON WHY THIS CAMCORDER IS SO INEXPENSIVE. this camcorder is terrible!"

"I don't why people are writing horrible comments about this camera. If your looking for porfesional filming its obvious your a cheap. You see the price what are you expecting. Its great for personal use, record family events parties etc.
i fell in love with it, its sleek its small what more can i ask for.

Again its more for recording evenets you want to remeember now to record you next big movie."

"I bought this camera as a gift for someone. Thought it was a good deal between the features and the price, but i got what i paid for. After only a week, the camera began to turn on and off randomly and the battery stopped taking a charge. Save the headache, spend the money and buy the sony."

What's great about it: Great little gadget
What's not so great: learning curve - editing video - playback on PC

"I got this last week - my son bought it for me.

Great little gadget (I love gadgets) - I am SURE |it will do a great job when I am using it properly and find some appropriate video editing software !!

Video quality looks OK in daylight - suffers in poor lighting (as many camcorders will)

I read through previous reviews AFTERr trying the camera and found I had hit most of the problems others had hit - the supplied manual needs some improvement

e.g

Take all the film off the lens and other parts of the camera (or picture quality will suffer)

Only use the supplied charger - mine will NOT charge with other usb chargers or while connected to PC - Red light 'flashes' when charging - if it is NOT flashing you can leave it for hours and you are wasting your time

Finger easily covers front LED and sometimes the lens

Playing HD video back on a PC needs a special Codec (H.246) for HD playback - and even with the Codec will jump and loose sound-sync on slower PC's - this is a PC processor power problem , not a problem with the recording which plays fine on the camera

Video at lower definitions than HD plays fine on a PC

The focus method is 'primitive - 3 settings macro, close-up and distance - easy to leave the switch on the WRONG setting and get out of focus videos

You CAN zoom when recording - but NOT if you are using anti-shake

You need at least a 2gb or 4gb SDHC card (class 2 or 4)

Have NOT yet found a way of editing the HD files

I will post more later - but at present I am Searching for Video Editing software which will work with the HD video files - ANY IDEAS ??

You need to be willing to 'experiment' if you buy this camera"

What's great about it: It looks slick, and is easy to work with.
What's not so great: It takes dreadful pictures in low light.

"While this camera is nice looking, it doesn't live up to that look. In strong lighting, it takes sharp pictures, but use it in low lighting (like at night or in a dimly lit family room) and you'll struggle with all your might to take a picture that isn't blurry. It's so bad that we figured we had to be doing something wrong. Yet even with image stabilization and in night mode, you will get nothing but blurry photos. The camera takes so long to judge the lighting in low light that the shutter speed is far too slow, and the ability to change those settings is extremely limited, so short of a tripod, a nice, sharp picture will elude you.

The video, even in 720p, is a grainy mess, and the sound is poor. Perhaps for a child it could pass as a decent camcorder, but for anyone wanting something useful and cheap, this isn't it."

"I paid $100 for the camcorder on sale at Best Buy. For $100, you can't beat the price for the value. Now the funtion of this is for updating Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, etc. This camcorder is very portable and extremely easy to use. It's a great gift for anyone that likes to take videos on the spot!! Transfering video from camcorder to PC....it can;t get any easier. I recommend this to everyone."

What's not so great: It corrupts files, lense gets fuzzy easily, and not consistent

"You have to evaluate it for yourself. I picked it up for filming bike rides. Its lightweight and portable. Not the best quality all the time, but usable especially for the web. Heres a video I shot with it. Be sure to watch it in HD.

"I received this as a gift, and will promptly return. The picture quality was so poor, I wasn’t even able to be upset with the camera, so I just laughed. I would compare the video quality of this product to that of a mobile phone. I realize you get what you pay for, but there should be a law against labeling this camera as HD. I hooked it up to my brand new expensive 1080p Tv, via the included HDMI cord, and wow it was pathetic. I will also add that this may be one of the most unintuitive electronic products I have ever come across. The buttons, and on screen menus were very clumsy, and left the user confused and aggravated.
I am sure there must be better products on the market."

What's great about it: the size! able to fit it in my purse with no problem at all.
What's not so great: the hassle of trying to make it compatible with a Mac.

"I got this camcorder for christmas and was soo excited to use it on my cruise in a few days. however, reality hit hard when i was unable to use the camcorder on iMovie. I spend 3 longgggg and stressful days trying to get it to work, visiting forum after forum and downloading numerous compatibility programs.It wasn't until I ventured back onto this website and came across another review that had the ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR (much like other mac users). in case you missed the review, the user mentioned that you have to download "ISQUINT, and then click the options: "optimize for tv" and "h.264 encoding". then retry opening you movie and it will work like magic!!! i cannot thank that user enough for posting that and i hope i can help other mac users!!"

"You get what you pay for. So it is a good buy for a cheap video camera. As far as HD goes. I just don't see it. Not HD quality recording. It is not user friendly and little or no help with the user manual on the cd it comes with."

"I am still evaluating this camcorder, since I have the option of returning it for a little while longer. I have observed since Christmas that many new reviewers have given less than favorable reviews. I will tell you that from my personal experience thus far you will get nowhere with this camcorder unless you download and/or print the manual. It does not come with the camcorder. The helpful starting guide is virtually useless. This camcorder is packed with features and options, but the buttons are multi-purpose, so there is a little bit of a learning curve as you read through the manual and try out the various buttons and pop-up menus that show up on the fairly large screen. Check out "motion detect" - a really neat feature if you want to start recording immediately once the camcorder detects movement. In addition, you can keep the camcorder in night mode if you want to boost indoor light without using the flash. The flash/LED light could prove to be worrisome for parents with small children, but then maybe other flashes would be as well, but since you can turn on this light and keep it on- and it's very bright- maybe you wouldn't want to put this camcorder in the hands of a small child who might hold this light too close to another child's eyes. There is a warning within the manual that indicates that this LED light could cause eye damage if held too close to someone's eyes."

"Seriously, there are alot of reviews that seem like people are wanting an $800 camera for $100. That is not what you will get with this camcorder. But if you are wanting a nice, compact, easy to use $100 camcorder, this is a great purchase.

I got this camcorder as a gift for Christmas, and we took it out for some trial video a few days ago. I was really, really impressed with the picture. I mean, really impressed. The color and clarity was great, and the grainly lines that some complain about was not there for me.

I do think that the light sensor is in a bad place in the front by the lens, but there really isn't a good place for it, and I was able to adjust my hand is keep it visible.

Like I say, this is a nice little camcorder for $100..."
