Major Problems...Burn Clothes 12/10/2009

What's great about it: Large Capacity
What's not so great: Burns Clothing

"Initial happiness with this product has turned into complete frustration. Something is wrong with the design of the dryer as it burns certain articles of clothing. When we first discovered small black flecks on some of our clothing, we examined the interior of the dryer and found a vent opening inside the dryer was covered in a black substance. The dryer then melted two polyester clothing articles together! We called a service technician to examine the issue. He said we must have put a pair of pants through the dyer with gum in the pocket. The gum stuck to the vent and the clothing must have stuck to the gum on the vent and melted due to the heat. He replaced the vent and was on his way. Not 30 minutes after he left three pair of snow pants and two coats were damaged (burned) by the new vent. Clearly there was no gum and the dryer has some design flaw. We are now trying to get them to reimburse us for the damaged clothing and get these appliances out of our home! Buyer beware!"

What's great about it: Large capacity, stainless drum
What's not so great: burns clothes

"It is obvious this dryer was not intended for the gas type. My wife and I bought this in Sept 08, and we started to notice that our clothes would be burning. Usually polyester and childrens clothing. After looking at the inside, we noticed the vent in the inside was charred over with black stuff. Eventually we had electrolux come out and replace that part.

2 months later same thing is happening. Electrolux has told us that it will most likely need to replace the whole unit. Others are having the same issue. See here:

Supposedly there is a "fix" for this but we have yet to have the guy come out a second time. We will see. We will also be filing for damages due to all of the ruined clothes. If you buy this dryer, please please get the warranty!"

What's great about it: huge capacity; dries clothes well; runs quietly
What's not so great: End signal is too quiet for us

"I love this dryer! I can dry my big king size comforter in it. At first, the large selections of settings were a bit mind-boggling since we weren't used to so many choices, but after a few loads we all figured out how to adjust the settings. You can easily program this to keep your favorite settings. That makes it easy for the kids to use. With the touch of one button and then "start", they get the job done. This dryer actually dries the clothes thoroughly and rather quickly. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much faster the clothes get dry compared to my older tumble dryer. The spacious drawer-pedestal is a back saver. No more bending so low to get the clothes out. If they could make the chimes with a volume control, so we could decide how quiet or loud we want it, this dryer would have no complaints from me."
