What's great about it: Lab quality pictures, ink last a long time, quiet printing,
What's not so great: Wireless networking can be tricky, large unit

"I purchased this item a few days ago. The unit was packed extremly well with many precautions to keep the unit safe. I spent 10 minutes alone getting the printer out of the box and untaped! This is not a negative, most products are damaged upon arrival, this unit was perfect. I followed the set up, which was easy up until the Networking for wireless. I let my husband take care of that part. Unfortunatly it took an extremly long time to get it working for our two computers. He could make settings changes to the printer, but couldn't get it to print. It took him about an hour to get everything connected correctly. If you are not computer / network savy this unit may not be for you. If you don't mind using a USB connection, then set up is a breeze.

I printed out my first three pictures last night. They were absolutely goregeous! My biggest worry was print quality, as not all printers are "photo printers" don't be fooled by a 50.00 unit that says they will print good pictures (they won't). You need to spend the extra $ on this to get what your expecting. Another positive is the ink life, from one set of cartrages you can print roughly 300 4x6 pictures. The ink set costs about 50.00, so you get each picture for about .16 cents each. This is the average at any drug store with a minimum order, tax & spending gas to pick them up. The fact that these print at your desk, and on demand alone makes this printer worthwhile. Another positive was the scan quality. This scanner is fast at even a high dpi, and pictures extremly clear. A 600 dpi scan of an 8x10 took about 2 minutes, and the picture was so sharp! I can't wait to resize my wedding photos and finally start that scrapbook!

If your considering buying a lesser model to save the $, don't. This model is well worth the money for the quality in everything you receive. Don't cheap out on your family memories!"

What's great about it: Great price for features, super fast printing, wireless connection
What's not so great: a little difficult to set up for the Mac

"I'm really happy with my purchase. I've already tried the coloring book feature (great for my two year old) and the photos are very easy and very fast to print. I love being able to sit at my couch and print wirelessly. It was a little difficult to set up on my Mac but I was persistent and figured it out. So far, I haven't found any issues with the printer. I think I'll be able to do some fun things with this printer."

What's great about it: Great photo printing, fun extras
What's not so great: Flimsy paper tray and output paper support, no way to manually insert just 1 sheet at a time

"I needed a second printer that could fax and just do general printing, so I wouldn't kill the ink in my Epson R1800. So looking around, I decided on this one, based on the reviews and knowing what Epson could do. I have to say, this printer is amazing in all that it can do and do incredibly well.

First off, with all this AIO can do, the touch screen makes things very easy find and accomplish things. The photos it prints are incredible and rival my Epson R1800. Even printing right from a memory card(or USB drive), without the PC is stunning. The built in Auto Correct really does a great job of fixing up photos(you can pick what type of scene it is or let it do it automatically) and you can crop the photo, as well. What's better about it is I can keep 4x6 and regular paper in the paper tray at the same time, so the printer is always ready to go.

The printer has some fun stuff built in too. It will take a photo and create a coloring page out of it. This has been great for my daughter. It will also create notepad paper with images as watermarked backgrounds and create lined and graph paper out of plain white sheets, which is kinda cool.

The scanning is excellent and fast, as well(although my canon 8600f does do just a bit better job, but it maybe because I just haven't found the right combination of settings, like I have with my Canon). The scanning software gives plenty of control(comparable to my Canon scanner's software). It does copying well too with its auto document feeder(I also added the auto duplexer). I haven't done much faxing, as of yet, but it seems to handle it well.

What really tops this AIO off is the network connectivity. I have it connected wirelessly, thru my Linksys router, so all my PC's(I have 2 PC's and 2 laptops connected to it) can print to it and I can centrally locate the machine, so everyone has access to it. When the printer is connected, it also doubles as a memory card reader thru the PC, as well(however it doesn't see USB flash drives thru the PC, if it's connected, at least not when networked wirelessly).

About the only complaints I have are with the paper trays. They are FLIMSY. You would think with such a great machine, they would put just a little better effort into the paper trays. The paper holder feels cheaply made. This goes DOUBLE for the even flimsier output paper support. This is just 4 pieces of plastic, 3 that extend out, and the last flips up to catch the paper. This is really flimsy and feels really cheap. I'm not sure how this will hold up over time because I don't just leave it extended. I pull it out only when needed and push it back in when done.

The last complaint I have about the printer is the inability to simply manually insert ONE sheet of whatever I'm printing. If I want to print a sheet of something I don't have loaded in the tray, I can't simply insert it anywhere. I must remove the paper tray and remove the paper already in there and insert the one sheet and then reinsert the tray and print. They missed the boat on this part, as they really needed to add a manual paper feed.

All in all, tho, this is a GREAT all in one. It does everything extremely well and the ink usage, while not fantastic, is not bad at all(definitely much better than my Epson R1800). If you need an all in one or just a great printer, look into getting one of these, I doubt you will be disappointed."

What's great about it: Photo & Scan Quality and speed of printing
What's not so great: i'm stretching for this... paper tray doesnt hold much paper...

"I've owned mostly Epson printers since i've started buying home computers and this one replaces an Epson 860. The speed and quality of this printer is outstanding, especially with photos. A 4 x 6" pops out of this printer in about 10 to 13 seconds and in my opinion, look just as good as a developed photo from a store. The wireless feature on this printer was a snap to set up with no issues even on my 5+ year old desktop that is running XP. The scanner on this all in one printer is amazing as well. No more waiting for the scanner to "warm up" anymore. You click scan and it takes longer for it to process and save what your scanning than it does to scan it with the LED light bar! I am overly impressed with this new all in one printer and would have no problem recommending it to anyone!"

What's great about it: Speed and Quality of prints, Easy Setup
What's not so great: Epson help line

"For the price this is a great printer. The quality and speed are fantastic and the options are great! However the epson help line is useless and you need to be able to fix any problem yourself. Be sure to check your firewall settings so it will get through."

What's great about it: Setup is fast, easy
What's not so great: Double sided print default is wrong

"Epson did a great job with the wireless setup for this printer. I use wireless security, static addresses and MAC filtering on my network and all the options for these settings were included in the step by step setup. I had three computers configured and ready to print in less than an hour.
The only glitch so far is that the double sided print feature defaults to "Automatic" and then, when it doesn't find a duplexer, it stops the print job. Go into the printer properties and set double sided to "Manual" if you don't have the duplexer. Manual prints one side and provides instructions on how to turn the paper and re-insert into the paper tray for double sided."

What's great about it: Touch Screen is very responsive
What's not so great: Error comes up each time I turn it on before I have done anything... "scanner is'nt ready, please try again."

"I have the new aluminum iMac and was skeptical about buying a new all-in-one printer because the scanner would not work with my previous HP all-in-one. This printer has eased my fears about new hardware with my iMac. The features are great. I've had for just over a month now and I love it. The touch screen is great and allows it to have many more features by reducing the number of buttons on the unit. Creating your own stationary is also a plus. Printing ruled paper and grid paper is great for students...the only issue here is not being able to adjust the size of the grids (which is quite minor). There is also a feature where you scan a picture and it will print a copy of that picture in the form of a coloring book image for children. This printer printed a 4x6 inch photo in under 10 seconds and the quality is wonderful! I have not used the fax machine yet but I'm positive that it will not disapoint me."

"I have just recently purchased and trying to learn all the ins and outs of my printer and new computer language. It is easy to use and I haven't quite figured out the picture screen/options, but I love the speed of the printing being that is is not a laser printer. I also like the ability to get my images from my camera right from this machine I don't have to go into the software and tell it to download it is automatic. I am enjoying it even though I have in the learning stages. I hope it pans out. The only downfall is that ink runs out quicker than I expected, but we will see if this continues as time goes on. Enjoying my purchase and will purchase more in future."

What's great about it: nice design. lots of features
What's not so great: wireless did not work for me

"Well this is my first review here but I bought this printer based on everyone else's review and some research on my own. I have had only HP printers at home. They work well and produce good prints. I had a c7180 which I like but needed an ADF since I am faxing more things for work. I saw the Artisan 800 a few weeks back and new I was going to get it. Had to wait until the stores got one back in stock. Unpacked it yesterday and hooked it up.
First impressions:
I love the styling and the touch screen. It is very intuitive and I did not really have to look at the user guide yet. As for set up I wanted to use it wirelessly even though it was next to my desktop. The printer could not be found after I tried twice. This prompted me to call Epson and they were helpful and pushed it to a level two tech. Still could not get it to work wirelessly. He suggested that since no IP address was being listed to call my router company which I did. They had to drop my security settings to 64WEP vs WAP even though the printer is supposed to work with that setting. Once that happened I saw the wireless icon go on with the bars but still the software would not show the printer. Finally decided just to hook it up by USB. I think it may be my computer since I had the same issue with my HP. Any way once hooked up everything worked fine. It faxes easily. Prints nice photos. Makes copies. I have not tried every feature yet. I do think the paper tray is a little flimsy and hope with heavy use will not break. I also dont like that Staples will let you recycle all print cartridges but Epson. Dont know why or if this is an Epson thing. Will update when I use all the features."

What's great about it: COMPLETE Home/Office productivity solution
What's not so great: A bit costly, duplexer not included (for printing both sides) and not available for purchase on manufacturer's website.

"Just got this AMAZING printer last week and have been enjoying it profusely ever since. It is ONLY a printer/scanner/fax machine/copier, but it is totally awesome.
Prints really fast, wifi capability is an EXTREME plus (most wireless printing servers/adaptors cost about $100 bucks, so the price is very justified (although it would have been nice to have paid less for it). Totally worth the money though.
Great scanning quality. Has a feed for scanning/copying several documents at once. You don't have to scan each page, then open the scanner, change the document and continue. It is fully automated.
It is a bit large for putting on a work desk, but if you have space, it will make up for all the other machines you won't need to keep around (no fax machine necessary, no scanner, etc...)
The printing quality is also STUNNING. I got a few pieces of Ultra Premium Glossy paper in the box and tested it out and was truly amazed. Comparable, if not better, to professional printing at a lab.
A must have for someone looking for a high quality productivity solution!"

What's great about it: smaller footprint, excellent photo quality, easy to use controls
What's not so great: limited paper sizes with doc feeder

"I have only had this printer for a week so have not used many of the features, it is loaded with features. The print quality is very good. Maybe somewhat less vivid that my old Hp officejet which it replaced (this broke) on plain recycled paper which I use daily. Excellent with photos, although may use more ink, results are better than my previous printer (which was more than 3yr old)
Limits: Can only adjust paper size for A4 and letter/legal size on doc feeder which limits scanning multiple page odd sized docs. Does not print on transparencies. For my Mac I have to purchase additional duplex attachment for 2 sided printing. ? more ink use than HP printers.
Set up was easy enough even for network. On my mac G5 to date I have not been able to have it save changes to printer settings (default) for what I want to use to print from the internet. Keeps reverting to original settings which use more ink.
Overall an excellent printer, especially if you want to print photos has many features for good flexibility and results. Has some limitations which I think make it less useful as an all-in-one printer especially for using document feeder for scanning"

What's great about it: Scanning/Printing
What's not so great: None

"This printer is a replacement for a kaput Epson Stylus Photo 890 at home. The Artisan 800 is superior in every way so far. Multi-sheet feeder for scanning/copying/faxing, excellent photo prints on Epson premium glossy photo paper, very clear/informative control panel, multi-level paper tray that holds 8.5x11 in the main tray and 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper in the upper tray, multiple memory card reader slots, and terrific quality scans of text and photos in both color and b/w. The paper tray is all plastic, with lots of little flimsy paper guides; it remains to be seen whether the paper tray is durable over time. I've always had Epson straight-through paper path printers, so I hope this folded paper path mechanism works better than the HP printers at the office. (So far, so good). I haven't used the wired/wireless network capability because I can use the USB 2.0 connectivity with my set-up. The footprint feels smaller than what the Epson specs would lead you to believe. The unit itself looks very sharp. Overall, so far so good. Buy it!"
