What's great about it: Had all the features I wanted.
What's not so great: Have to wiggle ipod and iphone around to get it to charge or play.
Bought this for the office. Except for the difficulties charging and playing the iPod and iPhone. It does the job.

What's great about it: Medium-sized profile and multi-functions
What's not so great: Sound, CD lid
Nice look, but the sound is not particularly full. Also, the CD lid doesn't open wide enough -- it is difficult to remove a CD without touching the surface. With the old CFD-F10, it was easy to load and remove a CD by holding just the edges.

What's not so great: May be a little flimsy if mishandled
I've had this for about six months now and really like it. I kind of chuckled at some of these other reviews - this is a sub $100 boom box. If you want thumpin' bass or crystal clear sound, then get a stereo. To spend $80 on something and expect it to perform like a $500 system is asking a lot.

Bulky and not very compatible with my iPhone. Sound is OK. Bought it for music on our sunporch. It's certainly adequate for that.

What's not so great: Isn't very durable
Bought this and took it to the beach several times, spring in the cd tray broke so the door won't stay closed without tape. Ipod dock stopped working and overall just died. On the other hand it was very portable but doesn't put out a lot of sound.

What's great about it: FM Radio, CD Player, a real remote (not the credit card type), Price
What's not so great: Sound quality, distoration when volume is turned up
I really wanted to like this product, because it has a great price tag for all of the features I wanted (CD player, FM radio,as well as IPOD docking station), but in the end sound quality was most important to me. The sound was merely okay, but when I closed my eyes while relaxing in my sitting room, I wanted to feel like I was in the music studio, listening to it live. This product didn't do that for me. Then once you gave it some volume, the sound began to degrade. If you want a box with many features, and you are not concerned about having that studio sound, but just want to have something to listen to, then this is your box. If you just have to feel like its live music, then I recommend the iHome speaker systems, if you have an IPOD of course. I went that route, but had to give up the FM radio and CD player.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: It's versatility and sound quality.
What's not so great: It is a little bulky.
Because I travel a lot, I needed a reasonably-priced radio that could also play audiobooks and accept an iPod. Before purchasing this one, I purchased three different boomboxes ... two of them broke after several weeks of use and the third had terrible sound quality.
I was pleasantly surprised by both the versatility and the sound quality of this Sony. I can now travel with just one device!
In summary, I recommend this boombox; it is well worth its reasonable price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy to use and many features.
What's not so great: Does not have a plug in adapter to charge batteries in the unit.
I bought this item as a birthday present for my husband. He really liked the gift. It has many features that he is very pleased with. One suggestion he had, however, was to have an adapter to charge the batteries in the boom box. Thank you.

What's great about it: Price and sound. A lot of bang for the buck. . Extra open protective screen so you can adjust IPhone or IPod Touch.
What's not so great: Can't tell when Ipod is charging. No tone controls. Screen small and hard to read.
Wanted a unit to charge my IPod Touch and listen to streamline radio stations from Slacker and Pandora. It works and sounds great from these sources. Looking at clock radio types but decided I wanted the flexibility of a portable unit. This unit fitted the bill nicely and came with a whole lot of other features such as AM/FM radio and CD player. The unit has no tone controls, other than MegaBass, but I really do like that option since I'm always messing with the tone and EG setting, which all sound the same anyway. This way it's set and I think it sounds great. A lot of reviewers complain about the sound volume, but I have it set on 4 and I find it has a lot of power to spare. For the features and sound I feel it's a great bargin.

I purchased this Sony "boom box" primarily so that I could listen to my iPod (iPhone) in the garage while doing work on my vehicles. I am very happy with it.
The unit is a bit larger than I would have liked, but still fits just fine on my workbench. The only legitimate complaint that I have is that the carry handle seems very flimsy- to the point where I am very gentle when I carry it around to avoid snapping it.
Sound quality is very good for a $100 radio, although there are no bass or treble controls. The radio stations are pulled in well by the tuner (I live in a "fringe" area, and both my car stereo and home stereo have a hard time getting a clear signal). You won't win any awards for power or extreme volume, but that's not why I bought this radio. It is certainly loud enough to fill my garage and I can hear it well out in the driveway when working out there.
My favorite feature is the iPod dock. It fully encloses your iPod or iPhone behind a clear plastic window. The dock charges your iPod or iPhone while you're listening, but only if the boom box is plugged in.
The included remote controls your iPod functions. Note for those of you complaining about the lack of a clock: when the iPhone is playing, the time is displayed on the face of the iPhone. Considering the size of the LCD screen on the radio itself, this is a far better option than having a built-in clock. I have used both my iPod 3rd Gen and my iPhone 3GS in this unit and both fit and work great. Very nice sound quality.
This unit includes a CD player, which works fine but is really superfluous if you've pulled all of your CDs into your iTunes library.
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. I would highly recommend it for anyone who's not looking for a party-rocking machine. If you're looking for super-loud volume, this radio is NOT for you.

This product fit my needs perfectly as I needed something in my office to play CD's, radio, and iphone. At home for my alarm clock, I have the Sony ICFCD3iP CD Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone, and I must say the Sony CD-R/RW Boombox with Built-In Apple® iPod® Dock has a much, much better sound to it! Just remember this is not an expensive stereo system, so if that's what you want then go buy a Bose or something else much more expensive.

CD player operates quietly compared to many others

I purchase the boom box to take to a party because I was going to be able to play the music from my iPhone and charge it at the same time, that is the best part about it. Once I started playing the music, it was ok until I was asked to turn it up louder it was already on the highest level (10) that is what not so great about it. I took it back the next day and purchase a real Boom Box,

What's great about it: Charges ipod while playing, has an AV jack in the back for other audio devices.
What's not so great: Sound is medicore.
I was in need of a radio for the house. I saw this as an open product and was on sale for 50 dollars. For that price I couldn't ask for much more. The sound isn't anything spectacular but it works just fine while doing the dishes or cleaning up around the house.
Don't buy this if you expect something that's going to rattle your house down.

My wife came home with this and we were excited. We plugged it in grabbed the iPod and the first song sounded pretty good. Next song our hopes faded. We wne to turn it up a little more and total distortion from the speakers. This was not even a heavy bass song either. It was weird some played just fine while others no luck. Look if you are looking for something for the office to play in the background or for the weight room be my guest but it really was ot for us. I would spend more money to get something better to make sure that whatever song I play sounds good.
