What's great about it: Very Comfortable, Noice reducer
What's not so great: Bass is lacking alot, Volume Control doesnt make a difference

"I got these after i got an altec one (which messed up my ears), they fit great, and are very comfortable, but the bass is lacking bigtime, although my altec headphones used to hurt my ears they had alot of bass and these Sony headphone do not. If your looking for comfortable headphones and not for the sound then gets these, if not then don't. I haven't had it to long to judge for durability but i can say that the cord is really thin."

What's great about it: In line volume control. Comfortable, good sound & volume.
What's not so great: Cord tangles very easily. Too soon to know about durability

"In line volume control saves you from digging out the mp3 player to adjust volume. I use these mostly to listen to spoken word podcasts when I am walking/jogging. They are very comfortable and stay put. They are not noise cancelling, but do block out sound. I actually wish they blocked out less sound since I walk along a road. The sound is much better than a cheap ($10) pair of Maxell with in line volume control so you do get what you pay for. The cord wrap is nice, but it tends to bang against my body when jogging and adds some unwanted feedback, so I don't use it. The silicone covers seem sturdy. The cord tangles way too easily, but this is not a show stopper. I've only had these for two weeks, so I don't know about durability. You can get these a little cheaper online, but I wanted to try them & return if I didn't like them. These are keepers."

What's great about it: Love the way they feel
What's not so great: Sound could be a little better

"For the life of me, I can't get the regular in-ear headphones to stay in my ears! These are perfect. No problems at all using them. They come with 3 different sized buds so you can just choose whichever fits best. I love the cord adjuster that comes with it. It allows you to use them without having the cord snag on everything causing them to yank from your ears. One thing I focused on when looking at product reviews before purchase was sound (volume, anyway). I read a lot of reviews that said the sound was great, but I just found it okay. But I really think it depends on the device you use it with. When I use it with my ipod, it sounds amazing, but with my Sony mp3, it's kind of average. But then again, I like to blast my music :) It does cancel outside noise, btw!! Does that wonderfully. Overall, this is a great product for a decent price!!"

What's great about it: Has awesome bass. Stays in your ear.

"If your looking for some good quality ear buds without going broke, get these! They are very lightweight and comfortable in the ear. They come with three different sizes to fit your ear. They have great bass response for the price and size. I would say the only downside to these is that you can't hear anything with these in! Cause after all, they're in-ear headphones! You cant go wrong with puchasing these!"

What's great about it: Very good fidelity
What's not so great: A little tinny

"For the price, these earbuds have an impressive sound. A very solid lowend, solid middle, and the highs are crisps. Sometimes they can be a bit tinny on the high end, but I still recommend these highly. Not sure they can be beat at this price. They are also quite comfortable."

What's great about it: comfortable, stay in ear, decent sound quality, price
What's not so great: lack of bass imo

"purchased these for everyday use ie: gym & work to replace my phillips earbuds(she9500) that recently took their last breath and the cheap one's that come with the iphone.
My earphones see a lot of action and abuse they tend not to last long so I didn't want to put to much $$ into a pair. These sony's fell within the price range i was willing to spend.
After about three weeks of use I am pretty pleased with them. The buds stay in the ear even on the treadmill and not to mention comfortable. The wire is just the perfect length that i can still move about my desk without experiencing the occassional undesireable tug.
Sound quality is pretty good for the price. Burn-in(break-in) is needed as the sound was less than desirable out of box and bass was lacking imo but it has gotten much better since altough I did prefer the bass better on my phillips.

overall, if you're looking for a cheap pair of earbuds that spit out quality sound for the price, then these are for you.

What's great about it: sound and fit
What's not so great: non washable

"I have tried several many more expensive earbuds (in the $100 plus range) and these well priced earbuds sound and fit better than all of them. I thought that earbuds that cost much more would sound and fit better. To my surprise, these earbuds work better than the expensive ones. More money doesn't always mean better. I will replace the ones I sent through the washer (big opps). I'll even buy two pairs, one for home use, one spare in the car if I leave the first set at home. PS, don't send your iPod Shuffle though the washer either (even bigger opps, need to replace that too)."

What's great about it: Great sound, volume control attached, good durability
What's not so great: Nothing to complain about

"I got these for Christmas from my brother because my dog chewed up the ones that came with the iPod. They sound great, last long, and I like how there is a volume controller. Then, a couple months later, guess what? My dog somehow got to the earbuds and chewed them up. Then, when I had to get a new pair, I didn't even think for a second. I knew I was going to get the same pair again. The next pair, after a couple months, again got chewed up. I'll live with them for now, but when the holidays come around and I get a BestBuy gift card, I'll deniately get this again. So, these are great. They're comfortable and sound good. As long as you keep it away from anything that'll beat it up, it'll last you a long time."

What's great about it: Very comfortable
What's not so great: Poor sound, over-enhanced bass

"I have to wonder if the people who gave good sound quality reviews to this item are listening to the same things as I am.

Giving these a stroll around some of my favorite music (mostly metal and electronic) I found muddy, subdued mids and highs and an excess of bass. In general everything sounded muffled. Will be returning for another model.

What's great about it: Sound Quality is The Best You'll Find For Under 30 Bucks, Very Comfortable, Great Bass
What's not so great: Nothing I Can Find

"I just bought these ear buds today and I am very impressed! By far the greatest you'll find for the price. Also, the bass on these things great! They're also very comfortable, they came with the larger tip on but i found that it's a little too big so i switched to the smaller ones and now they fit perfectly and never fall out."

What's great about it: Very Comfortable
What's not so great: Sound quality was horrible

"Compared these to my current Sony SHE9500's, and sound quality was noticeably lessened. Certain notes and chords of songs that were audible on the SHE9500, were completely inaudible on these.

Very disappointed, as these seem to be the successor to the SHE9500 (which had its shortcomings, but fullness and richness of sound, for the price, was not one of them)

What's great about it: Sound Quality
What's not so great: The cable could be a bit longer

"I've had these (bought them one cold night at Best Buy in NYC) for about 7 months now and I am so satisfied with every aspect of these headphones that I am going to get two more sets of them (just in case Sony takes them off the market).

Especially for you Classical and Jazz fans, you will be amazed. Listening to pipe organ through these phones gives you the same feel you get from a 12inch subwoofer while still giving you full bodied balanced mids and highs. Orchestral strings are one of its great strengths as well.

Many Sony fans of yesteryear (myself included) have been very disappointed at the loss of the legendary Sony sound but if this product is any indication, Sony is the new sheriff in town.

What's great about it: Great fit in ears, volume control
What's not so great: Mine was missing cord adjuster

"After my last earbuds went missing, I blindly picked these ones up at Best Buy and am thus far impressed. I generally go for headphones that have a cord adjuster to prevent any accidents happening while working out, but for some reason my packaging did not contain such an adjuster as indicated on the package. I have destroyed the packaging with scissors during opening so I suppose I am stuck with these. However, I am very impressed with the sound. It is rich enough for the price, and I am impressed with the extent of noise canceling. The volume adjuster was a good touch and i have used it extensively, especially when working out at a loud gym. I would have enjoyed these more had the packaging contained all the parts, but all in all they are worth the money."

Very Good Product   06/01/2009

What's great about it: Fits ear very well. Sound is above average.
What's not so great: Easy to lose the rubber ends, not easy to replace.

"I really like these ear buds. Nothing too fancy, but they work well. Great for working out and running (no problems with them falling out while running). I also use them at work. I haven't had a pair fail. The only downside is losing the the rubber end pieces, the product comes with a few extras but they are all different sizes. Still...good product."

Good Headphones   05/31/2009
By Ed562 from Los Alamitos, CA

What's great about it: Overall sound, bass and fit
What's not so great: A little light on the treble

"These in-ear phones are really good for the price. I recently had a pair of Bose in-ear that were about $100. It's amazing that these, overall, are better than the Bose, and $60 cheaper. These fit very snug and block out most environment sounds. The fit is like having regular ear plugs in your ears - they blockout other noises really well and just fit great!

The bass is very nice. The only thing is that the treble is a alittle light, but that's a minor drawback considering the overall performance of this product. I also love that there is a seperate volume control on the cord itself (I've never seen that before).

I looked online and read reviews before making this purchase, and I'm very happy with my choice! The preceeding reviews that gave this product positive feedback are spot-on!

I will recommend these headphones to anyone.

What's not so great: Nothing yet

"This was my third pair of earbuds and by far the best yet. I was immediately sold on the fit alone, very comfortable. The bass was surprisingly strong and the treble was just about right if not slightly weak. But that could just be my setup. Overall a very good purchase."

Very EQ / Power Sensitive   05/04/2009
By GuitarPlayer42 from Austin, TX

What's great about it: Fit, Volume Adjust, Cord Wrapper, Noise Blockage
What's not so great: L-Shaped Plug, Thin Wire

"In a way all of the reviews written so far are accurate, even the seemingly contradictory information. I believe what it all boils down to is expectations in addition to equipment used. I went into it thinking that earbuds aren't really going to be able to provide much bass (and I certainly knew I wouldn't be feeling any of that chest thumping power of a subwoofer) but was curious as to what if any benefit the "earplug" type style would have. My initial test with plugging into a bookshelf stereo was quite nice, even almost a little surprising. I did notice quite a bit more bass than I would have expected. But of course this was a system with at least some decent power to it and an "extra bass" type feature. Similar results were achieved when hooking up to the headphone output of my computer speakers (where a full EQ could be taken advantage of).

The true test, and main reason I got these, was the lawn mowing scenario. I wanted to try the earplug style to see if it had a nice noise reducing effect as compared to the typical foam covered earbuds I had been using. I needed to crank the volume up pretty high with the old ones to be able to hear over the mower noise and I know that's definitely not a good thing. While the world didn't suddenly become completely quiet there definitely is a very noticeable deadening effect when you put them in. For a quantitative comparison, old headphone volume was 13 out of 20 and now I can run 8 / 20. So as far as outside noise reduction goes, that's roughly 33% better. Since this was with a portable mp3 player, bass reproduction was a little lacking, but certainly not enough to make me wanna take 'em back, especially since I already knew what they were capable of. Fit and comfort are quite good, I was able to have them in for a couple of hours and didn't really notice. It's also very nice to have a *small* volume adjuster that's easy to get to and doesn't weigh down the cord; really comes in handy right when the mower is turned off.

I can see why people have concerns about the wire and jack though. The wire, especially where it splits into two wires from the volume adjust, are fairly thin. I'm not worried about it spontaneously breaking in half, and I don't think it would instantly destruct on the first time it catches on something, but over time I could see how the wire inside might separate after a lot of bending due to normal use. Also while sometimes I do actually prefer an L-type jack (a right angle plug) this one is designed a little differently from the ones I normally see. The main part of the plug is round and a bit small so it's hard to grab onto to pull the plug out of something. Also the already somewhat thin wires aren't very well reinforced where they go in, so that part is still quite flexible. So it seems that it's going to be extremely important to consistently grab onto the solid part of the plug and not touch the wires at all, which is going to be a bit of a challenge.

Overall a good purchase, some not so great things here and there, but for the price I think it's a good deal. Cord wrapper thingy comes in handy too, although that does weigh down the cord just a bit, so a minor tradeoff but I'll take that over having a branch rip a 'phone right out of my ear!
