I liked the whole system but, i only had mine for 7 months and it don't work anymore. Whenyou touch the screen nothing happens. Used it one day the next day junk!!!!
What's not so great: Only last 7 months!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like the ease of using the 255 GPS and the spoken street names make it much easier to use and avoids the constant looking at the screen.

The Gps is great. It get you quick to places. We use it to go around the whole United States. It tells you when you get to your destination. I would recommend it.
What's great about it: Very Good
What's not so great: Nothing

Great unit for the price. The one I purchased stopped working 3 days after purchase, just would not turn on. So I spent $50 more and upgraded to the 255W. Its got a wider screen and speaks the street name you are turning on, which is cool. Glad i did!
What's great about it: Extremely easy to use right out of the box
What's not so great: Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good GPS for a beginner. The price was great. Unfortunately some of the maps were already outdated.

I bought this gps, a month ago, easy to use, beautiful fine piano black color, it works great, im definitely satisfy with this model of gps.
What's great about it: not too big, confortable

I purchased this GPS for my husband. I currently have the Garmin 200. I like this one much better. I wish I would've kept it and given him mine. It speaks street names which the 200 doesn not. It also tells you the speed limit you're going when you set it for a destination unlike the Garmin 200. My husband uses it everywhere. It not only tells you how to get somewhere, it also tells you what time you will arrive. He uses it to go to work so he knows how much time he has to get there from anywhere.
What's great about it: It speaks street names. It also shows the speed limit, and the speed you are going.
What's not so great: Nothing

Bought this for my girlfriend and she loves it. She's not real big on electronics and doesn't always understand how to use them but this was super easy to use and setup.
The Text to Speech is really nice, sounds a bit "roboty" compared to the the non TTS voices but that's understandable. Not sure why people complain about the screen size as you shouldn't be looking at it much while driving anyway, and the TTS makes it real easy to know where to go and where you are.
What's great about it: Love the Text to Speech, very easy to use and setup
What's not so great: nothing

Bought this unit for my wife's delivery business, she's not the most technical type of person, but this product was so easy to use that she fell in love with the technology and is having a ball using it.
What's great about it: User friendly right out of the box, and Best Buy Online shopping is soo easy.
What's not so great: some accessories are priced a little high
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the GPS! The only problem I had was when it was shipped to me the boc was there, but no GPS. This was during the Christmas season and it was apparent that someone had opened the box from the bottom took out the gps box got it out and sealed it back up and shipped it. As soon as I received it I called Best Buy and they shipped me another one. Ofcourse I notified UPS as well, but Best Buy was awesome in doing that!!!!!!
What's great about it: Great price! Like it much better than the TomTom!!

We own three of this particular GPS unit. It is easy to setup and provides clear and precise directions. It does not come with a USB cord, but we have found that the ones with our cameras and cell phones work fine. Highly recommend this unit to any first-time GPS buyer. Great value for the price.
What's great about it: Provides easy directions to follow
What's not so great: Window suction does not secure firmly

We bought the Garmin 255 for my directionally challenged daughter. She hasn't used it yet, but I borrrowed for a trip. On the way I was forced off the interstate to a country road by an accident and it recalcuated almost immediately and took me to my exact destination in the shortest route. I still have the attitude of get a map out, but I was impressed.
What's great about it: I tried to make it fail and it recovered beautifully.
What's not so great: That I didn't get one for myself.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I live in a rural area and when attempting to travel from town to town the Garmin seems to send you on a wild goose chase. I have tried each of the settings and each time it may send me onto gravel roads or indirect routes. It also does not have correct information on the points of interest in smaller towns.
When driving in a larger town or city however it is just fine.
What's great about it: Works great in larger cities
What's not so great: does not have a clue in rural areas

The Garmin GPS comes ready-to-use straight out of the box. You can figure it out without the manual by just playing around. Several voices to choose from, and a large selection of businesses included.
Unfortunately the maps can be out of date from the day it arrives. It also takes strange routes instead of direct ones.
What's great about it: Easy to use, helpful, screen in light vs dark conditions, pleasant voice
What's not so great: Inaccurate mapping, directions that are difficult and out-of-the-way

I bought it so I could visit my daughter in Vermont and I was traveling alone and am a very aprrehenisve driver but I felt very calm and confident with this GPS. Would recommend to anyone.

I gave the nuvi 255 to my parents two weeks ago. I helped them set it up, which was very easy. They have taken it on a trip out of state and really enjoyed the unit and did not have any trouble operating it even though they are not the best with electronic gadgets. Not sure about durability yet.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good price (on sale for $119)
What's not so great: Not sure yet (after 2 weeks)

This is a great GPS, it was well worth the price. Since this unit is for use in my work truck I chose not to get the wide screen model. I kind of now wish I would have.. but regardless this is a great deal and a great unit!

I shopped around for weeks checking features, price, and ease of use. I heard great things about this unit and everything I heard was true. This is very easy to use and set up. I am a manual reader normally but was not necessary for this GPS. I used it the very first day and you could not get lost having this little buddy in your car. Once you program your destination there is no reason to even look at it as "Samatha" tells you EXACTLY where to go. I don't know why I didn't buy one sooner as I am very directionally challenged.
What's great about it: Easy to use and idiot proof
What's not so great: I didn't buy one sooner!
