What's great about it: Great looking graphics and playing blu-rays
What's not so great: Easily fingerprints all over and having to hit twenty buttons to turn it on.

"Everything was perfect until 3 weeks ago when power on then quickly shut off. I paid 600 dollars for it like 15 months ago and decided against a store warranty, because it's usually a rip off. Lucky for me Im 3 months over the factory warranty and now i have to shell out 150 dollars to have it repaired by sony. Thanks sony. This was the first and last time console with sony."

What's great about it: Great Picture, Fun to Play, Great BluRay, WiFi Internet
What's not so great: Slow download times on game demos on PS network

"This system is the best overall gaming system you can buy. I already have an Xbox 360 and am very pleased with it but the PS3 is above and beyond. Great picture quality, great gameplay, and excellent blu-ray quality which is actually why I bought it. I had a Sony blu-ray player that I returned back to Best Buy just for this system which was the same price as the blu-ray player alone. A must buy for blu-ray watchers and gamers alike."

What's great about it: Everything, picture, sound, games.
What's not so great: No PS2 compatability.

"My wife bought me the PS3 for Valentines. I have been wanting one since before they came out. There hasn't been a day yet that I haven't been on it. The graphics are incredible, the sound is perfect, and it is a massive improvement over the already great PS2. My only gripe is that this model is not backwards compatible with the PS2. I have a large library of PS2 games that I have to keep my PS2 if I want to play them. I should have bought the MGS4 bundle when it was out, however, the price kept me away. I love that everything is finally wireless (internet, remote, headset, etc.). As a huge SOCOM fan, I love that I no longer have to be "attached" to the PS with a corded headset, and use an aftermarket wireless controller that was never great. It is also nice that Sony actually made it easy to change the HDD, and even gives you instructions on how to do it. That way if I ever need to I can have a 320GB PS3. It would however be nice if Sony had a wall charger for the remote, as my PS3 sits on top of my 65" TV, and it has to be on to charge the remote. I guess I will have to go aftermarket for this option. Overall, I am more than satisfied with my PS3. I definately recommend this system for true gamers."

What's great about it: Graphics, Blue-Ray, Other Misc Enjoyable Features
What's not so great: Lack of good games

"Pro's: Ok first of all I'm a huge 360 fan from graphics, game assortment, and online community. I could was able to buy PS3 for years now but finally broke down because I got a new SAMSUNG 750 LCD. My first impression is WOW. The graphics are excellent. Being the max capability of the ps3 was 720p I thought it would not compare to 360. Was I wrong...

Cons: some games load slow, but who really cares about that. The assortment of games are not so good. I can't wait for some to come out though that is exclusive for PS3: God of War III & killzone 2.

the deals now are great, free 50 gift cert and guitar hero...def worth it. I did hear in April it was going down $100...but still a great buy now. Defenitly pick this up."

What's great about it: Bluray playback is phenominal
What's not so great: Not PS2 backwards compatible, less USB ports then original 80gb units...

"Overall I really like the PS3 and its versatility. Being able to play Bluray movies and displaying 1080p is just phenominal. My gripes are the inability to now play PS2 games on the newer models, a decrease in USB ports (4 to 2 from original PS3 units) and the often seen potential of the laser going out. I've had my PS3 for about 18 months and it's primarily used as a BR player. The laser has just gone out where it can't read BR movies nor PS3 games. Bizarre thing is that it will still play PS2 games and standard DVDs. I do have an older model which is PS2 compatible and I'm writing this review to tell you to GET THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN!! It's 60 bucks for 2 YEARS...compare that to $150 that Sony makes you pay and it only makes sense!! Of course I didn't do that. :("

What's great about it: reliability
What's not so great: online play

"I've been playing video games for a long time and you defiantly can't go wrong with the ps3. It has blue ray, free online multiplayer, wireless internet and great graphics via Hdmi cable through my 46" 1080p 120Hz TV. The online play is free, so yeah you will notice some lag at certain times, depending on weather or not everyone is in the USA or not at the time your playing. I don't have any problems playing through my router though. It seems like when I lag, everyone in the game is lagging that is connected via ethernet cable, but its a rare occassion and doesn't bother me a bit, I just chose another map on COD4, for example. As compared to Xbox, you don't have to pay $50 a year to play online, you don't have to pay $99 for wireless internet, and in order to get 1080p with xbox you have to buy the elite which costs $399, so right there you're already over the price of the ps3 and you don't get the blue ray (Oh yeah I watch nothing but blue ray dvd's now and I'm extremely addicted to it). Then just go read some reviews of people that bought the xbox 360 and see how many had to replace their system within a year, not reliable. I'm in my mid 30's and I love my ps3. I've had mine for over year now and havn't had any problems. The ps3 also has blue tooth so I use my cell phone mic for online play."

"I'm not a big gamer and when someone reccomended to me a PS3 when i was looking for a blu-ray, I laughed. after reading the reviews and really thinking about it I decided to get the PS3. I hooked it up to my reciever and plasma tv and it looks and sounds amazing! we also got a couple video games and i'm blown away on how clear and real the picture is. i definitly reccomend getting a ps3 over a blu-ray, especially if you think you may want a gaming system at some point down the road."

What's great about it: HDMI output, Gigabit LAN, Blu-Ray player, Steaming Music/Movies/Photos
What's not so great: Does not play PS2 games

"I was totally suprised when my wife bought this for me for Christmas. My main use is for watching movies. Blu-Ray discs have an incredible picture and even the upconverted DVD's are crisp and clean via HDMI to my Sony Bravia 46" Z. What I really love about it is the networking capabilties either Wi-Fi or gigabit. I was impressed with the "G" speed of Wi-Fi but I've upgraded my wired network to use Gigabit.... WOW. Everything just comes up extremly fast. I have a NAS with my music, movies and photos which I can view all of them.

My only complaint is the lack of PS2 game support. It will not play them at all. (purchased 80Gb version 12/2008). That is a major disapointment and is why I gave 3 stars for functionality. So we still have our PS2 setup."

"Love this with my wi-fi, easy to set up, and easy to use. Had to get some games, ncaa football and little big planet. Have since bought some more games. The blue-ray looks great and the sound is also great. Did some looking around before I purchased, why not spend a little more and get a gameing system???"

What's great about it: You can play Sony exclusive games.
What's not so great: paying for useless extras, Sony services.

"This next generation system is fun, although pricey. Online multiplayer is free, and it shows. You get what you pay for. The built in wireless is great for the primitive web browser. As for wireless multiplayer, dont bother. The sixaxis controller is just like the old PS2 controllers but with an annoying tilt function, that can be turned off in many games options menu. The wireless controllers do function well, although they feel cheaply made. Built in Blu-ray is a nice touch, but lack the speed and functions of my stand alone Blu-ray player. Games take a bit to boot up, if you choose not to install them to the hard drive. The graphics for the games are great, as is the multi channel surround sound. Its too bad most cross platform games that land on this system lack the cool features of the other systems. When my first PS3 ( 7 months old ) had an optical drive hardware failure, I had to fight with Sony to replace the system. A few heated phone calls later, they honored their warranty. 4 weeks later I had my new system. All I had to pay was the initial shipping cost. Overall its a fun system to play, when a Sony exclusive game is released."

"Went to best buy to buy a blue ray player and after talking to sales person decided on getting this system. The great thing is the 80GB hard drive that allows for updates for generations while regular blue ray players memory maxs out after so many updates and then your stuck with a blue ray player that will only play half of the movies and not many new releases. Being a gamer it is also a great system with GREAT graphics and on a HD tv the graphics are quite noticible. This was a birthday gift from my wife and it has turned out to be one of the best. We both use it and the kid loves it. Still a little pricy but for what you get you cant beat it."

"The playstaion 3 is the best gaming system for the money you spend. Its built in blue ray, and user friendly opperating system, as well as online capabilites and wireless controllers make it a great value. its has a decent game selection, which is not bad considering its the newest system on the market. Its has other features like pictures, videos, and regular internet surfing. i would make this a must buy for any household thats into a good home entertainment."

"ok the system is great . but the internet is horrible , and it says i have good inter net status like 73 % . but when u r playing online it says signed out of playstation network . network error and that means the internet has lost connectivity and it has it still has a good internet status . and im not the only person with this problem alot of my firends and cusins have to same one's . and as the controllers go they r not very durable . like the 360's controlers . but the good thing about them is that u dont need battery's like the other system ."

"When I hooked this up to my HDTV I asked myseld "Why did you wait so long to buy one of these?" If someone told me that I would be playing video games with computer resolutions on a 42" monitor (or larger) 5 years ago, I would've thought they were crazy.

People may complain about the price, but if you look at what you are getting, I don't know how Sony can sell these things so cheap. This is better than any high end gaming computer at a fraction of the price. And thats what a PS3 is. Its a high end gaming computer. Its made for his res graphics plus extra computing power to give games a more realisitc response.

If you don't have an HDTV then stick to a PS2, because you would be missing out on 50% of what this system can do."

What's not so great: The Price...needs to be 1/3 less if they wanna compete with xbox.

"What's not to like? Built in blu-ray, FREE online gaming, built in wifi (you don't have to buy an expensive wireless adapter) and the list goes on. I play with my TWO 360s and PS3 and enjoy them thoroughly.

Yeah, the price does intimidate a lot of people especially when the 360 is 100bucks less. However, the 360 doesn't have blu-ray compatibility and the PS3 HAS NO RED RING OF DEATH to worry about.

As far as accessories are concerned with, there are less of that to buy with the PS3 than the 360.

With the PS3 you get EXACTLY what you pay for...nothing but greatness"

"Great system. Been a fan of Playstation since the original Playstation days. Everything about it works smooth. Controllers are the same design, so thats good. As for it not being PS1 an PS2 compatible.. who cares. The reason for buying a PS3 is for the Next Generation of gaming. Those that complain about compatability issues, go stick with a PS2 or something. Quit whining because noone really cares. As for speed on the system, its good too. I'm not going to diss the Xbox 360 since all gaming systems have there strengths and weaknesses. Only downfall for most people would be of course the cost of the shiny new black machine. So if you complain about the price you should steer away since most likely you couldn't afford it or you bought it anyway an starved your poor dog for the next month or two."

"At first i thought it was a waste of money, but then i played at my friends house and was blown away by it. It sucks for people with no HD tv's, but rocks for people with them. Trust me i've been a gamer as long as i can remember, and this console is money well spent."
