What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: nothing

"I dont even know where to start about this. I have the 60 GB harddive and I dont know what to do with all the space. I have a few songs and about 200 pictures saved on it. Same with some movies. There honestly is no need for a huge Hard drive due to the fact you can plug in an external hard drive to watch movies, play music and view pictures as well. I can't honestly think of one thing I don't like about the console. I like the way it looks and works. Free online play and tells you when your friends turn their PS3 on as well. Takes only 20-30 minutes to charge a blue tooth controller which should last over a week easily. A must have compared to the X Box 360."

What's great about it: Everything! The graphics are incredible. The built in Blueray Disc player enables movies to be shown crystal clear.
What's not so great: Nothing! It's a must have system.

What's great about it: The graphics look fantastic in 1080P
What's not so great: Really cheap hardware that seems to fail

"Got my first PS3 almost 2 years ago (right after I got my huge HDTV), and so far? It has made me grateful I got the warranty from BestBuy. The first one lasted 2 months before it stopped playing discs all of a sudden, called Sony they said to ship it back, I said hw long to get it fixed? They said 6 WEEKS!!!! (Again thank God for the BestBuy warranty, went there and got a new one in an hour). Now today teh second one has ceased to show ANY video or audio - went through the steps to try to resolve and nothing, ofcourse. This one is dead too. Time to go back to BestBuy and get yet another one. And what's worse? All my gameplay info will be gone, all my downloads, all my settings, makes you really miss memory cards that's for sure.
Bottom line? Save your money and get a Wii - got my wife one and not a single issue in the same timeframe, imagine that?!?!?"

What's great about it: Ps2 and Ps 1 backwards compatible
What's not so great: nothing

"I hear alot of people complaining that this system is not backwards compatible, when the truth is it is, the only thing you need to do is go to playstation network download the ps2 software which is FREE, and you can start playing your ps2 games on it, all the software does is it creates a partision in your hard drive not a very big one and it allows your ps3 to read ps2 games pluse you can also create a ps2 virtual memory card to save your games, and yes I have done this to my ps3 because I love my ps2 games."

"Yes its expensive but you have to think about the fact that you're getting an automatically updating, blu-ray player along with a gaming system? I mean, it literally is a computer with wireless internet! What computer, with a blu ray system and wireless internet do you know of that you can get for $400 or $500 dollars?

"Let me start of by saying this, it puts Xbox to Shame. I got The PS3 for Christimas this year and i love it. It has incredible Graphics, Great Speed, And A blue Ray Player. Okay Games are a little pricey but you choose a sports game and it will update the roster for you. The Controllers are great they are wireless and easy to use. This System Is the Easiest thing to set up period. Great Console."

What's great about it: All In One
What's not so great: Stripped Down

"I got my PS3 back when the 80GB version first started appearing on shelves. I was very happy with it. Haven't really been following along on the different models after I got mine but I have to say that I'm not surprised that the PS3 is stripped down now. People kept complaining that it cost too much so they wouldn't buy it. So you have to figure that Sony would cut extras to drop the price. You really don't need the 4 USB ports. The only time I've had to use multiple USB ports at once was while playing Rock Band, and even then it was really just two ports in use if that. And the memory card slots, I have yet to use mine. If I want something off my camera, I just plug it in through the USB. The real loss here is the backwards compatibility, more so with those of us who have a huge collection of PS1 and PS2 games. So even though its stripped down, I'd still recommend it to friends and family."

What's great about it: easy to set up, controller, looks, graphics, fast, doesnt overheat, playstation home.
What's not so great: psn sucks!!!! fingerprint magnet freezes online

"ok. so , i was very excited when i opened this up. looked awsome, very easy to set up, and easily booted up. here was when i enctountered first problem.
i tried to put in a game and i couldnt play it. i needed to perform a system update. alright, no problem, but it took over an hour.:p i needed to perform a system update on almost all of my games. the only good thing was that by the end of the night, it had been on almost 7 hours, and when i turned it off, it was cool to the touch. i then played and tried to play online on battlefield bad company. needed another system update in order to play online. after that it worked great. gameplay was nice at first. but then, it started lagging. soon after, my ps3 froze. it has frozen about 5 times in the first week of playing it. this only happens online though. which supports my con as psn sucks.
the playstation store is absolutley atrocious. superiorly slow, and lack of items, it sucks. i tried to download a demo for conflict denied ops. it took several hours. only to find out, that that game sucks eggs.
the controller is great though. i mean really great. comfortable, responsive, and battery life off of a 20 min. charge is like a week.
over all, great system and entertainment powerhouse for local play. but if your going to be playing a lot of online, save a hundred bucks and get the 360. xbox live is way better that psn."

What's great about it: Graphics, multiple features, ***FREE ONLINE***
What's not so great: Can't play ingame music but if doesn't matter, don't worry then.

"I got my ps3 in the summer of 08 and it made one of the best summers ever. I would stay up playing my ps3 constantly. I chose a ps3 over a 360 due to multiple things. First off I originally had the first xbox and liked it but it was pretty basic. I also had a psp and like how it could do many things. So I compared an xbox 360 to a ps3. I know the price deters some away form the ps3 but you have to think the long run. Online gaming for a ps3 is free. Xbox costs like $60 a year and that alone is only $40 less than a ps3 for the first year. After that, if you are using a wireless router, the ps3 doesn't need anything but an xbox 360 needs an adapter which is $100. This already has the ps3 cheaper than the xbox after the online for a year and wireless internet adapter. It sells itself. Also the built in blu-ray player. Those alone are like $100-$200. You save money with the os3. It may appear ot but you do in the long run. If you're considering it, plan it out. The only downside I can find with the ps3 is that there isn't ingame music which insn't a huge deal. Also, most of my friends have an xbox 360 because it came out first so we can't play each other but now more and more are getting a ps3 and it is better."

What's not so great: cant play ps2 games and some accesories dont work properly

"i feel that the ps3 is great for gamplay graphics and blue ray player, but it cant play ps2 games and some accessories do not properly or for long. for example i think the Sony ps3 controller is over priced for over $50 so i bought 3 logitech controllers and they wouldnt work. besides that i would recommend this system to anyone who can afford it."

What's great about it: Good graphics, improving game line up
What's not so great: broke once and had to deal with sony's customer service

"I bought mine 2 years ago and the only problem ive had is when it completely froze after sony came out with a bad firmware update and i had to send it into sony. Like any warranty return it took a long time to get back but since the it has worked fine. The only thing i am worried about now is if it breaks again i am no longer under warranty so you may want to consider getting an extended service plan."

What's great about it: blu ray player, good graphics, reliable

"i first purchased the xbox360 and it was a great system. But as people warned me i got the red rings.later i purchased a playstation 3. the playstation had a slight edge over the xbox360 in graphics but if you want to buy this system you should get a hdmi cord for about 30-50$ and a lcd tv.if you dont get those 2 things ur better of with a xbox.The blue is amazing with the lcd tv and hdmi cord. on the bad side it gathers dust in a few days and loads things very slowly.but overall it is a great system and i am happy with my purchase."

"I just purchased this a couple days ago and have had a chance to watch a blue ray movie and play a little Sonic Unleashed so far. For an anti-Sony guy I must say I like it, now let's see if it holds up and does not end up in that garbage bin like all the other Sony products I have owned. Oh, and I must say I was reluctant to purchase that after my wife told me that she was behind a guy that was returning his THIRD one, at Target, but I did save $150 with a Playstation card. I will post another review in a few months with an update."

"First off, the three downers.
1. It can't play the old Playstation Titles. That's a big let down since the PS2 had so many 5 star games. 2. It has no exclusive games for itself. Almost all of it's best games are also available on Xbox 360. 3. Wow it's pricey.
The plus however is truly great! The graphics and sound are amazing for both the games and movies. Everything loads up real fast, and the Hard-Drive is excellent. Oh yea, no "Red Light of Death" that the Xbox gets when it's played too long. The remote is perfectly designed as well. Worth the money!"

What's not so great: Lack of good exclusive titles. Price.

"I've had my PS3 for about 2.5 years now and I've only used it for about 40 hours or less. The exclusive titles leave a lot to be desired so that's why I play my xbox 360 more often. Overall, the 360 has a better selection than the PS3. I will say the 360 has more mechanical issues which should be fixed with the new "jasper" motherboard. That is the one thing that makes the PS3 more attractive. Basically, the PS3 is a good Blu-ray player with the ability to play video games."

What's great about it: Its a complete home media system all wrapped up in one. The look.
What's not so great: Load time, no ps2 games(functionality), not complete package.

"The PS3 is an overall great product and a good buy. There are just a couple things that are undesirable. For one you can't play your PS2 games on it which doesn't make sense to me at all. I mean even the PS2 plays PS1 games. so why can't this "amazing" system play both or at least PS2 games. Thats frustrating when you have 7 years worth of PS2 games. Another thing is the initial setup so that everything is working takes hours just from setting up your playstation network account and downloading all the software off of the internet so get the thing running. The final thing that i have encountered so far that has perplexed me is that the system doesnt include the HD cables like the XB360. I mean all these system creators talk about is who has better graphics and being HD compatible but in order to see these graphics you have to go buy some cables for more money. So thats something that is not included that should be. Other than these three things I love everything about my playstation 3."

"only $399 and u get a gaming system and blueray player... the graphics are great, gets alittle hot but no big deal, the controller batteries last for ever it seems.. only thing i didnt like was the the small 80gig HD, but i upgraded it to 320gig. very happy with this PS."

What's great about it: Updated Technology
What's not so great: What happened to PS2 Support????

"I can't believe that there is no PS2 support for this product. My kids have over 30 PS2 games and now have to carry two systems! My kids really wanted the X360 however, we did not want to loose our investment in PS2 media. Now that we have to keep the PS2 we are planning on returning the PS3 for a X360. Might as well since we have to have 2 system regardless.

The X360 is the more popular system anyway. I feel horrible for purchasing this when they really wanted the X360 from Santa."

"If you are looking for a videogame system this is a must buy. Not only does this system allow you to play playstation 1 and 2 games along with the PS3 games but it also plays blu-ray movies. Also unlike the Xbox 360 the online gameplay of the PS3 is free so you can play online as much as you want and you dont have to pay a cent for it. And the PS3 doent have any functional problems like overheating and freezing up like the Xbox has recieved the reputation for doing. The PS3 can hold just about any type of media and has slots for memory cards for digital cameras and has usb ports to hook up your mp3 players or your cameras to look at pictures or to listen to music. So you get a videogame system, blu-ray player, and a basic computer all in one. Its an easy decision, get yourself a Playstation 3."
