What's great about it: Long lifetime, Bu-ray players, more gaming companies develop for PS3 directly then convert to Xbox, much more

"It is a great system for the price and considered one of the best blu-ray players on the market.

The online gaming is free and adds another element to the game for moderate gamers. You can access the internet and stream videos. The graphics are amazing.

Many game released now develop w/ PS3 in mind and then change things to fit the Xbox(Grand Theft Auto for example). The game will of course be better on the console it was originally designed for.

It is backwards compatible w/ PS1. It is not currently compatible w/ PS2 but updates may eventually be downloaded and you can put/download an emulator on the PS3 (or any Nintendo emulators for that matter) if you really need the PS2. Also, for those whining about the lack of PS2 compatibility, it is well known that Sony doesn't make money on the system itself, and that they took the PS2 emulator off to lower costs...ended up costing about 100 dollars so if you wanted to pay that much for a system you already own...keep whining OR get an emulator!"

What's great about it: Blu-ray, sleek new design, wireless, bluetooth, plays all Playstation 1 2 and 3 games, plays movies including blu-ray
What's not so great: Attracts dust

"I'm happy they finally laucned a playstation with wifi! It includes internet and updates. It is all around wireless, it holds up to 4 controllers. Bluetooth is great because ps3 holds videos, pictures, and music. Blu-Ray is great it goes for 480p minimum, 720p max. It plays Playstation 1,2, and 3 games. It had a browser too. It includes a store with free downloadable games (some cost money)

It attracts dust, it just sticks"

What's great about it: Overall surpasses any other gaming system.
What's not so great: Not Backwards compatible

"It is not a good thing that it does not play PS2 and PS1 games but besides that as a whole is the best system you can find. An excellent Blue Ray player that even up converts regular DVD's both original and copies.
Viewing pictures on your TV directly from the PS3 is just an amazing experience. Graphics and performance are just impressive. Free gaming online and lots of downloads.
If you are looking for performance and and the best graphics this is the perfect system! If you want a less expensive and not multifunctional gaming machine with poor graphics you need to look for a different console."

"my kids were looking forward to upgrading their old PS-2 with a new PS-3 only to discover that it will not play the eir PS-2 games. We will be returning the PS-3 ane getting a Wii"

What's great about it: Blu-ray, graphics and overall functionality

"The Sony PS3 will blow your mind on how crisp every movie is on blu-ray. It has amazing capabilities and is very easy to set-up. Its has a built in wireless card for people who dont have it close enough to the router to use an ethernet cord. The new Playstation Home is pretty cool. Its kind of like a Sims atmosphere and you create your environment. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great Blu-ray player or gaming system. Being able to update via the internet is a major plus as well."

What's great about it: Blu Ray player, Hd games, PlayOn aftermarket program that streams Netlix,HULU,CNN,CBS and more
What's not so great: It can be complicated to use so it takes getting used to

"The Playon program that streams Netflix and Hulu through your PC is awesome. The wireless ethernet is great because you dont have to buy a wireless accesory like xbox360. All in all i am satisifed and it plays Blu Rays great and upconverts great."

"if your wondering what system to get it all matters on guidelines.
1. do you like it?
2. is your tv a hd tv
3. do you have wifi
if you have a hdtv then get this. Its blueray player is awsome and it doesnt break. Also your 80 gbs will fly quick. Everyone sasys 80gbs is enough when for the ps3 its not. YOU ALSWAYS HAVE TO DOWNLOAD SOMETHING. download trophie info. download online mod. download game data. download download. youll spend 70 percent of you time loading and downloading. If you want to get one for yoiur familyu i recomend the 160gb version. Also the ps3 has gamese but not that much. If you like getting alot of games then this is not for you. Mgs2 has been here for 2 years and is getting old. Most games ae in 720 hd format. we want 1080p hd. The ps3 is awsome but you need to ask your self: what typr of tv do you have.
if you have a non hd tv or a lcd dont get this. you need a full 1080p tv. youll just be wasting 400$. My freind was going to waste 700$ for this sony system when his tv was not in hd and he had no wifi. i was like wtf?!?!?! so if you want to get this lisen to this reveiw. This system is awsome but downloading, loading, not coming with a hdmi cable, weird wifi, and just suckyness slows it down

xbox 360: 200+wifi box 100$+wireless for a year 50$+ warrenty 50$= tax 30= wireless and personal

wii:250$+game40$+warrenty50$= family fun

ps3: 400$+warrenty70$+tax50$+game60$= blueray, and personal

ps: if you have bad temper get the wii. the ps3 wifi just gets you angry/"

What's great about it: great graphics plus everything is included
What's not so great: not as many people on the ps3 network as xbox live but still very fun

"The system is great and awesome game play. Also when comparing it in price to the 360 it actually is a better deal because it comes with built in wifi, controllers that you can recharge, internet, and a bluray player, all stuff that cost extra on the 360. Also the graphics are better and more and more gmaes are coming out for it and 360 isnt coming out with many new exclusive games for their system really while ps3 is. Honestly the best deal out there unless you dont want internet, you want to buy bateries all the time, you want your system to be right by the broadband modem, and you want to be stuck watching dvds instead of blu ray, then choose a 360."

What's great about it: Keeps the kids busy
What's not so great: After a while it freezes up and has to be replaced.

"Be sure to purchase the extra service agreement because you will need it. After one year of use, it kept freezing up after the game was over. Then it started freezing up in the middle of the game. My son was very disappointed that he couldn't finish the game. Had to start over each time. I took it back and since I had the replacement service plan, I was able to get a new one. In fact, I got a store credit since I originally paid $100 more than it currently sells for. But I want to make sure I keep my service plan up to date in case this one does the same thing."

What's great about it: Gaming, blu-ray, intenet access
What's not so great: sorta pricey, contollers battery dont last very long

"i have had my PS3 for almost a year now and i main reason i chose this system over Xbox is because of the blu ray player built in, in xbox u have to buy the extra piece, plus it cost an extra 100 bucks so the price came out to be fairly close for both systems. the other reason is that playstation online is free and is much better than the PS2 version. the games are pretty much the same with some minor detail changes so that didnt matter, and most games are coming out on both systems. the high def capibilitiesare also great i have it hooked up to my samsung tv and it looks real its amazing. i would definitely reccommend this to everyone. the only downside is that it is expensive (when i bought it it was 500 buck, now 400) but u are also getting a gaming system, blu-ray dvd player and basically a computer because you can surf the web on it. also the betteries in the controllers are not the best, and you cant just replace the batteries, you need to get a whole new controller. But its still worth every penny."

"Definately the best gaming system on the market (my family has all 3 major consoles). Great hardware, reliable and quiet. Bluetooth accessories are nice. Free Playstation network for online gaming. Next-Gen gaming. Blu-Ray is an added bonus. I do recommend buying the Blu-Ray remote (thought not needed) for movie playback."

"by far, my favorite playstation yet! i love the games it has. people say it doesnt have not as many games, it has like 30 less due to the fact that it is one year younger than its compettitor.
xbox 360:halo3,gears of war 1&2,fable 2,left4dead,dead or alive serise
ps3:littlebigplanet,motorstorm 1&2,uncharted drakes fortune,metal gear solid 4,warhawk,buzz quiz,Heavenly Sword, rachet and clank,Resistance 2,Resistance: Fall of Man
that is the list of exclusives that I(me personally) the rest of xbox exclusives are some wierd games that i wouldn't even look at. the rest of the games are 3rd party(for both systems). if thse exclusives entice you, i recomend this!
pluse>ps3 is gonning to have more exclusives in 2009! xbox will have...halo wars?(not shooter,stratagy game like age of empire)"

What's great about it: It plays blu-ray movies still thank God and also ps3 games only
What's not so great: Only 2 usb ports, no backwards compatability and doesn't connect to my camera like my old 60gb with 4 usb ports did.

"Sony has sold out with this system because you cannot play any PS or PS2 games on it. The only good thing about this version is that it is more power efficient. I really miss having my 4 usb ports. I also miss playing PS2 games on my old 60gb. Also if you try and put a hard drive from an older PS3 lets say my old 60gb ps3 it formats the darn thing causing all of your memory (old ps3 game saves and everything) to get deleted. So my bottom line is possibly wait for sony to release a PS3 with backwards compatibility and 4 usb ports again please and thank you."

What's great about it: the games

"ok i have had my ps3 for a while well overall its a good system if you compare it to the 360 its ify well it has great games and its awsome that the internet does not have to be payed for like it does on the ps3. Theps3 in the long run mite goood for you if you are like not a real gamer and do not have a big family . Another thing that is good about it the ps3 is the browser and stuff like that and how you can make it into a personal computer if you have the skills for it. If you get angery alot when you game you do not want to be throwing a ps3 controller because those brake really easly. If you were to compare it to a 360 i would get that insted because of the user friendly ness and they have better service but the downfall to that is you have to pay i think $60 bucks for a whole year and and you dont have to always buy the internet."

What's great about it: Still an inexpensive Blu-Ray player
What's not so great: Limited games still, and online gaming is sickening

"If you want an inepensive Blu-Ray player that can play games too, the PS3 is your only and best option.
I own all 3 Wii, Xbox360 and PS3. They all have a function in my house.
The Wii is extremely easy to play for people new or less experienced with gaming. Great for children and adults too. I play games with my kids, my wife and my parents on the Wii. Very fun for the whole family.
The PS3 is mainly just a movie player at my house. PS3 has some cool RPG games which I have grown to like. The PS3's game selection is extremely limited and online gaming on the PS3 is depressing.
The Xbox360 is where I personaly spend the majority of my gaming. XBOX LIVE is head and shoulders above Sony's attempts to copy online gaming, and they have more gaming titles outside of the kiddie RPG realm. Even titles that are on both the 360 and the PS3 I will almost always play on the 360, simply so if I go online and play friends I get the better experience. Plus all my friends that own a PS3 have also bought a 360 to play online, but not all of my friends that have 360s have bought PS3s.

What's great about it: upgradable hard drives for cheap, free online play, better disk format
What's not so great: slow servers....but they are getting faster

"Do you own an HDTV? Do you like HD movies if so then the PS3 is for you....i Bought one about 18 months ago runs great....just bought a new hard drive now it has 250GB storage. Games like MGS4 and Uncharted make the ps3 great...plus EA is now designing all games on the ps3 and porting them to the 360...so buying now is a good idea."
