so yea! think b4 buying, 360 pro cost 250 plus 50 for a year of internet and + 50 warrenty bc it breaks like crazy = $350

PS3 cost $300 but no need for internet its free and no need of warrenty.."

"Got two bad PS3's in a row. Internet connection couldn't be established to download the updates, it wouldn't acknowledge that the ethernet was plugged in. Then I bought new ethernet cord still wouldn't work. Took PS3 to bestbuy got a different one, still doesn't work! It worked for like 1/2 the update then it said error connection was d/c.

Once it did finally update I got into a brand new game and it froze up multiple times at the same screen..

I will stick to my XBOX"

What's great about it: Mine is backward compatable.
What's not so great: I paid alot for it, but in hindsight; I am glad I did.

"I have the Model #CECHE01. It is the rarest model out there. It is compatable with ps2 games. I can store a memory card on it. I am having fun with all my ps2 and 3 games.
I think sony should have left that feature in the newer models. I feel bad for anyone who buys this unit and cannot play a ps2 game on it. One day ps2 consoles will not be sold anymore and it will be important to have this option.
While I am writing a favorable review for my model; I feel it would not be fair to point out that Sony tried its best to sell a fully loaded product and no one wanted it due to price. Originally; the PS2 was intentionally built with a hard drive capability. It never took off in the US market. You might say it was a prototype for the PS3. When it was decided to make the PS3; the gaming community wanted performance and storage specs. They got it and then some. Can we fault Sony for going out of its way to make a Titan of a console? Perhaps it was too much too soon. This new roll out with a 120 GB hard drive will sell of course; but remember what was lost to get it.
I know I am long winded about this; but I want the average consumer to get an idea how this came about..
Remember the following facts before you commit to buying this console and its 120gb big brother:
1. lower price
2. not compatable with PS2 games. (check website for specifics)
3. this will have many new PS3 titles that will knock your socks off.
4. performance. (Nuff said)
I hope this helps and if you want the original model Model #CECHE01; it might be still around in the motor storm or cod4 package. Check the box before you buy; it will state whether it will play PS2 games or not. If it is not printed anywhere then it is not the one."

What's great about it: Blu-ray, built in wifi, free online, upgradeable hard drive, Linux capable, solidly built, HDMI output
What's not so great: dust shows up easily, but other than that, nothing

"I bought the 40 gb, system back in last June, i have really loved it since i bought it, if you have a game like rock band where you plan on downloading alot of stuff or things off the PSN i would definately think about buying a larger hard drive, i upgraded mine to a 250gb and now have plenty of space, i was running out and it was very easy to replace, any laptop hard drive will do, just as a heads up i would pay attention on the back of the games and see how much space the save is, a few games i have like Legendary take up 4.5GB of space to make the game run smoother but some games are as little as 3mb, i would keep a rag around to clean it off, make sure you give it some space around the top of the console (right of the disc tray) because that is where most of the air is sucked in to cool it down other wise you might get the system overheated such as the xbox, i currently have it on a toshiba 50" and the grapics look amazing, especially on playstation Exclusives where some games are actually in 1080, the reason why i gave the Graphics a rating of 4 out of 5 is because most games only go to 720p which is kind of sad because the ps3 has so much potential, some games i would recommend are Uncharted Drakes Fortune, the graphics are mind blowing and the game is fun, Infamous, the game is just plain fun, Little big planet, you can create levels and post them on the PSN, and of course the up-coming MAG, other wise known as Massive action Game, this game is revolutionary when it comes to online gaming, think 12 on 12 is pretty good or maybe 18 vs 18? MAG has a whopping 256 online players in one map, i am currently in the beta and so far it looks like a very promising game, hope this helps and have fun gaming on the Incredible Playstation 3"

"I just bought my 1st PS3 lastnight at 10:30 pm and waiting for it to be shipped... I already have played it many many many times at my uncles house and loved it. I also bought the hdmi cables, madden 10 and gta IV. I have played gta many many times and played madden 09 and loved them both... I refuse to buy madden for PS2 again after 09 no big changes all though there are some. PS3 version there are to many to list. i spent $600 the 80 gb system 2 games and 2 movies and the hdmi cable.. i know its only 2 games and movies but GTA will last me forever and madden ill play onliine til Madden 11 comes out. I overall love sony over any of the competition.."

"Don't buy one of these until after 8/18/09, they will be dropping the price to 299.99 and in sept. the new slim model will come out for 299.99 with a 120gig hard drive, either way you go you can't beat it, better value than a wii or x box."

"After a year of owning, the ps3 stop working due to a software update that after rebooting the system I got a error stating the Hardware has been corrupted. I called Sony and talked to customer support and their supervisor and even though I did nothing wrong I have to Pay 150.00 just to get it fixed due to the software problem that caused the ps3 to stop playing movies or games and since it is over the 1 year warranty by a few months. So if Best buy offers an extended warranty please take it, since after reading online a lot of people have this same issue where they all have to pay 150.00"

"to all you people who are fans of the 360, dont knock the ps3. its the same graphics, gameplay, and most of the same games. the review is for the system not your " xbox rules!! bull ".

the upside to the ps3 over other systems is the free use of online play ( all you need is an internet connection) , and blu ray player. other than that its an xbox really. the menus are very simple and easy to use.

some minor problems...the fan during intense and prolonged play turns on and can get some what loud. the servers for the online games are sometimes not at their best and will lag (causing your character to jump around the screen not in a smooth motion) and sometimes will even kick you out of the game for no reason. this is only on occasion.

other than that. my ps3 is coming up on 2 years and no problems or repairs yet.

hints to help your ps3..have an external fan blowing on the slots for added airflow. will help the internal fan from straining itself. also every now and again vacuum or blow into the vents to remove any dust that may have got in the system. it will help the internals in the long run."

"Ive had one for a little bit now.. and im tired of people Bashing it Due to the fact that they love the Xbox...
Ive got News for you.. The 360 has no wireless.. the PS3 Duz.. if you pay for the Wireles card on the Xbox.. WALA same price.. downfall is the Xbox has a Sad sorry history of Issues ( Red ring of death) made the news...

The PS3 runs hot... im not gona Say it don't
But there's a Reason behind that.. Pure an Simple.. the CPU core in this thing is Evil and Made to do ONE THING.. and ONE THING ONLY.. and thats provide Unmatched Gaming.. where as the Xbox..... uses your everyday Based CPU... that.. Oddly Enough if you remove it from the Xbox and find a Main Board with the proper socket... can use it as a PC....

OR can use the Xbox as a PC.. where as.. the PS3 can Run Linux.. and lets Face it.. linux is Sexy.. Microsoft needs to Just let it go..

For the money the the time spent on this Console.. I give it the Full 5."
