What's great about it: blue ray is full functioned, system is able to run the latest games
What's not so great: linux has no flash media support, mpeg4 movies of high quality not supported

"I have owned this system for 2 years.
It's reliable and is a great value for money.

The linux portion of the system works by sending screenshot after screenshot through the graphics memory and thus doesn't support flash or video. You can't watch dvd's from the linux nor can you play youtube movies.

Sony's integrated browser does let you do both but it is rather a pain because that browser suffers an out of memory bug that resets the web pages every so often.

Other than what I've mentioned, everything else is flawless. Kick Butt games are plentiful. Demo games are usually feature packed and free online.

The controllers are bluetooth so they work up to fifty feet away."

What's great about it: great for playing games and watching movies
What's not so great: you need iternet acces if you plan to watch blu ray and update your game software

"great game with awsome graphics, i like to also watch movies on mine , the only downside is if you want to update your software you will need to have internet access and some blue ray movies wont play without internet access other than that its a great game"

"This system is probably the best out there. It has awesome graphics(slightly better than the 360). Online play is FREE!!! Also comes with built Bluray player. This plays DVDs and Bluray Discs like a normal DVD player. entire system up to 1080p HD. Built in wireless internet connector and also can browse internet on it. Does have PS3 Online for downloading and playing online. Can connect and play with PSP. Through PS3 download PSP demos, themes, and updates. Can also link to computer to play music, videos and view picture. Has SD, USB connector ports."

"just picked up my Playstaion 3 80G from bestbuy not even a week ago and I am totally in love. I'm actually amazed I let my girlfriend play it. The PS3 looks great first off. The system its self looks really cool. The controler is COMPLETELY wireless, and comes with the USB chargeing cable, and it stays charged for a long long time. I was playing a game almost all day yesterday on a single charge and its still got plenty of power. The system runs smooth no bumps or slow downs. It also runs almost completely silent. The only noise in my room are from the TV and my standard computer. Which i dont really need any more. With a USB keyboard you can use the PS3's full inter net, yes FULL internet capability to go any where. You can even install an entire OS on it, fairly easily. You can type sruf and view almost anything. Even access other computers on your network. That means music movies, and even the printer! On top of that the PS3 80G is Wi-Fi ready! The XMB (cross media bar) id the systems new navigation bar. It allows you to smoothly browse all of your items on your system. Games, picutres, full movies, or just video clips. The picture clarity of amazing, i dont have an HD tv (yet) and it still looks spectuacular. I even played it on an older HD tv without an HDMI cable and thay was even a step up. I cant wait to play it with the HDMI plugged in. The sounds of the system are rich and clear, Powerful yet subtle. No detail goes unlooked any where in this system. Fun and excitement lie around every corner. You will spend hours just finding cool little tricks this baby will do for you. A must buy. Definatly a must buy."

"Well all i can say is this is the best system ived ever ownd i own a wii,360,and others,i still have the original PS3 the 60GB one and so far no problems,even if this new 80GB PS3 model doesent have backward compatability its still a great system with a lower more atractive price tag i mean i payed $600 smackers for mine and it was worth every penny,so if i was looking for a system that had it all for an affortable price,than this is the system for you."

"the picture looks GREAT but the only reasons I picked this system over the others was for blu-ray and that it was supposed to play ALL playstation games! I suppose I should have looked into it more, but I borrowed my friend's PS2 games until I can afford cool PS3 games (that console price is a killer) and none of them play. This really should have a bigger warning on the box to warn people that it doesn't play all games after all.
Other than that, the picture is amazing! I love being able to watch blu-ray discs now!"

"This machine does everything you want it to and if it doesn't yet, Sony will add it in a future firmware update. I can't say enough about the intuitiveness this thing has. It is the Apple of our time."

"I actually bought this as a blue-ray player and have had no problems with it. Picture and sound is great and no problem yet with any discs. The bonus is I got a gaming machine too. What's not so great: Price of Accessories and System.

"I have had my PS3 now for about 2 Months, and it has proved itself to be the best system available (I have played and owned a Wii). Though the price is bad, the pros outweigh the cons, and if you were to get an equally equipped Xbox 360, it would cost over $700, even though Blu-Ray isn't available, neither is free PSN. Overall DEFINITELY GET THIS SYSTEM!"

What's great about it: Smooth, Not Windows based & great B-Ray player

"I stayed away from the PS3 when it first came out but after looking for a B-Ray player and seeing that the PS3 was the only one on the market at the time that was able to have its firmware upgraded by way of the ethernet connection I decided to purchase it. Plus I got a great deal on getting a Sony CC that gave me a $100 credit towards its purchase helped alot also :) The start up is smooth and quick with both games and movies, better imo than my 360. If I could say one negative it is that the system must be on for it to charge the controller when connected by USB."

What's great about it: Spacious harddrive for all your PS3 save files
What's not so great: PS2 games WILL NOT run on this system

"Sadly, for me, this system was purchased because my father lost my Playstation 2 (or possibly donated it to Goodwill thinking it was my brother's PS2). I have a huge library of PS2 games and couldn't wait to get back to playing them in my new apartment!
This machine physically incapable of playing any of them. Not only that, but because this is a hardware issue this issue cannot be resolved by a software update. Old models of the 80GB system have a chip which allows for PS2 games to be played. Recent models do not in an effort to cut costs, but this also guts functionality for any longtime customer.
PSX games DO run on this system. So, you can get our your old PSX games and play them and it turns out they do look pretty sweet in 720 and 1080i. It is unfortunate that this system locks out most of my Sony gaming library. I am extremely dissatisfied that this was not labeled clearly for my father."

What's great about it: Good graphics, and Blu-Ray player
What's not so great: Hard drive broke, then stopped reading any discs!

"I liked the ps3 but it just broke to quick. First the hard drive broke then I replaced it, only worked for another 2 months then the ps3 stopped reading any type of disc (dvd, brd, games, ps2, cd...!). Plus I rarely used it, but it still broke down. So im just going to stick with the 360 (havent had any problems with it yet!)."
