What's great about it: Beautiful graphics, Blu-Ray, great games, improved interface, great control system
What's not so great: High cost, slow downloads, online content lagging behind XBOX live

"With the shortage of quality games on release, the PS3 has been lagging behind its competitors for months. However high quality games (GTA 4, MGS 4, Ratchet and Clank Future etc.) have begun to really take advantage of the incredible capabilities the system has to offer, and the PS3 is quickly becoming the premier gaming experience. The graphics are markedly better than those of any other system, the classic controller extremely effective, and the interface improving every day. The online content is lagging a bit behind the XBOX live system (very few trophies, slow downloads etc.) but it is getting better day by day. For true gamers, this is the best system out there, and as more and more games are released, a must have."

"I love this system. The graphics are so good especially with an HD TV. The game called,'' Call Of Duty'' It looks all most real and i am not even lying. The only bad thing is this exact one can not play PS1 and PS2. Besides that it is the best everyone should get one."

What's great about it: Blu-ray, hdmi, optical out
What's not so great: No Wireless N, only 2 usb,

"owned for almost 9 months now, still working great. Looks very good for Blu-ray movies and games. Have had some problems hooking up a bluetooth headset for gaming online. I haven't had any problems with games freezing up either as with previous models."

What's not so great: No infrared port means non-Bluetooth universal remotes aren't compatible; glossy black finish is a fingerprint magnet

"Hnads down the best system out there. The games are getting better and better. The BD movies look great with my Sony HDTV 42" and PS3 combo!!! Don't worry about no PS2 compatibility, chances are you will never go back to play those games again. The PS2 ha great titles and these upcomoing months is just going to get better!!!"

"Overall I like the system and quality of the games, but there is one major flaw with the system. Namely, that the system seems to have quality isues around its DVD readers, we have already had the system replaced once, and the second system just broke with similar issues. In reading forums, this seems to be a recurring theme for the game system."

"Outstanding picture. Very easy to use. I purchased this 80 Gb unit to replace the original 60 gb unit due to a Hard drive read error and it was not repairable. Thank goodness for the extended warranty. After purchase, I found out the 80 gb unit does not play PS1, or 2 games. So if you have PS2 games you will need to purchase a PS2 in order to play those games as well. Interesting that there are more game titles available for the PS2 than there are PS3. And the PS2 games are much cheaper."

"Love, love LOVE this system!!!! I can't get enough. Every new game I play is a revelation--so incredibly amazing and multifunctional. Heads up: get the BluWav dongle and you can use a universal remote (my pick: Harmony One) for the Blu-ray/DVD player."

"I bought the PS3 mainly for the blue-ray player and it's wifi capability for easy system update without having the wires. Here are the reasons why I am giving it 5 stars:
1. Excellent picture quality on BD and it upscales my current dvd collection better than my Sony dvd player.
2. Outstanding audio.
3. Quick start up on both regular dvd's and BD's.
4. The unit is quiet; (heard some complaints about the fan being noisy).
To sum it up the PS3 is a good buy, graphics on gaming is very good; it is the best blue-ray player out there (ask cnet)."

What's not so great: few good games,online is bad, looks like a george foreman grill

"If you have been wondering whether to get this or the xbox 360, go with the xbox. Its so much better and its cheaper too. It has much better games and the online experience is superior not to mention the better graphics. On the bright side this would make an awesome paperweight. Please don't waste your money on this or you'll regret it. Save yourself the pain and suffering of missing great games like Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Fable 2 and many more."

"I Been waiting for my own PS3 for A YEAR!! and now i finally got it. I can't believe that they still had the Bundle for the Metal Gear Solid 4 at my Best buy store any way I LOVE This THING IT HAS EVERYTING U WANT ITS JUST LIKE A COMPUTER JUST WITH MORE STUFF also the price i Payed WAS CHEAP!!! ITS A GOOD BUY I SAY SOME ONE WHO IS REALLY Wanting to go online for free then paying for an online like Xbox not that its bad but its not fair because you pay more for more stuff when if you buy the PS3 you get everything in one price yeah there some stuff you might have to get if your interested in it but I say its WORTH BUYING!!!"

"I have waited along time to get one of these, at first I was not sure about it but after playing a couple of demos at BB I was hooked. Yes, its alittle expensive but its well worth it. Blueray players go for about 2-4 hundred dollars so it is basically buying a Blueray player for $300 and $140 for the game console. Plus free online play and internet."

What's great about it: 80 Gig Hard Drive, Blu Ray Player, Great Selection of Games
What's not so great: No Backwards Compatibility (Not For Me, Just in General) Cry Me A River

"To me this was the best console i have ever bought. I had to wait in line for 10 hours to get my Wii, with poor game selection at the time, so i sold it, then i got the Xbox 360 and it was good for a while but Halo 3 being over-hyped and paying for online functionality on top of paying for internet from my ISP i said enough. I got some money together and i bought myself this PS3 80gb Core Model.
Enough about of my console history.
If you are thinking about getting a PS3 now is a great time, I've had the chance to play GTA 4, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Soul Caliber 4, Uncharted, Warhawk, and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. And since I've bought this beast of a machine i've never put down my controller. I come home from work you'll see me play GTA4 like its crack. Take the leap of faith dish out the money you WILL NOT regret it.
Those crying over no backwards compatibility, think about it, if you play PS2 so much you already have a PlayStation 2. I look towards the future and not games that I've played a thousand times and don't want to touch again. Plus when you play in 720p you don't to touch a 480i again.
My reasons why I don't like Xbox 360: Initial cost is low, but when you add on wireless adapter, Hard drive if you bought arcade version, subscription fee for Xbox live, all the AA batteries you go through for the controllers.
My reasons why i don't like the Nintendo Wii: Its built for casual gamers who do not care for: Graphics, great story/plot, "Complexer controls", online games. The Wii is made for the people who think its exercise, and fun.
I work at a department store that sells video games, that I'll keep anonymous - And every person who buys Wii Games are 5-12 years old. Exactly the types of players i do not want to play with or against online if the Wii actually excelled at online games.
PS3 is the future and it works for me."
