What's great about it: Built in Blu ray and wifi
What's not so great: price is expensive but it worth

"Where can you find a built in Blu ray that cost $200 bucks with Built in gaming system and built in wifi. you even can connect your psp. and no red ring of fire.
Playstation 3=$400
Xbox 360=$300 + Wifi $ 100 + Blu ray $200= $600
the PS3 is much Cheaper if you compare it base on price itself and compatibility"

What's great about it: Blu-Ray, Games are amazing, graphics, compatible with PSP, VOD, Internet/Computer, massive storage space, price
What's not so great: Not backwards compatible but get a PS2 if you want that, Sony not coming out with a lot of games

"It's a fantastic video/game system. Sony pushes the limits, yes the only bad thing they don't come out with games very often but the games they do come out with are beyond amazing with graphics, gameplay, and other things. Also, it is a blu-ray player. You can sync your PSP to turn it on or check your game system anywhere in the world. There is Video on Demand, buy/download movies/tv shows. If you want more storage space get a portable hard-drive and you will have tons of space! It is so much better as a multiple use game system. Playstation 3 rocks."

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: the usb plug to charge the controller is short.

"I've had no problems with my PS3 and I love it. The game play is off the chain and if you got the HDMI cable the movie play is awsome. It plays movie that are not blue ray and makes them look even better than in standard difinition. The guy that helped my wife and myself when we were buying our new Tv talked my wife into getting it because of all the features that it has. I tried to talk her into it but it took the guy to convince her that it was really worth the money that you spend on it. It's a game system, a BlueRay DVD player and it also a computer all in one. We love it"

What's not so great: the loading may take a while but youll get used to it.

"I have officially had my PS3 for 2 years. Not a SINGLE problem. The ps3 does everything you want out of the box. WIFI, Bluray, gaming, multimedia, internet, memory (the hard drive can even be upgraded if you are a true multimedia buff)... everything.

The playstation store is also awesome. It offers a game section and video section. The game section has add ons, ps1 games, ps3 downloadable games, themes, wallpapers, demos, etc... Video section offers SD and HD quality movie downloads and TV downloads. THere are thousands of movies and shows to choose from and updated weekly. The playstation store is awesome and my wife enjoys downloading movies and shows also.

Media. The ps3 allows you to stream your movies, music, and pictures from you computer using a media server. So instead of taking up space on my ps3 i leave everything on my computer and stream my movies and music via wifi. The ps3 is a multimedia powerhouse and is an excellent entertainment system. It even has a pretty cool photo app that organizes and allows you to edit pictures. Of course you can always just use a USB thumb drive or something to transfer your music, pics, or movies straight to your hard drive also.

Internet browser. I use it for youtube, hulu, checking mail, etc... it's not going to match your computer browser but i find it very useful and handy when my wife is using the computer.

Online. The ps3's online experience has steadily gotten better since i got my ps3. Some old review's of the ps3 mentioned that the Playstation Network cannot match XBOX LIVE. At launch this was somewhat true, but not now. These days the ps3 matches xbox live in EVERY way and it's FREEEEEEE. Hello, i said FREE!! In game messaging/chat, chat rooms (text and audio), trophies, gamercards, and HOME. Playstation HOME is sort of a online meeting place for finding friends who enjoy the same games as you and more. Many games and studios like EA Sports have spaces within home with downloadable content and mini games. It's really pretty awesome. I play sports games with my friends exclusively so i can tell you from experience that the network is reliable. I have played over 200 games of ncaa 09 online and my disconnect % was 4%. Yeah 4%, that number should tell you alot. That means no freezes, no lost connections (i had to quit a few times). That doesnt include the 80 or so games i played online for NCAA 08. I have NEVER had a problem with the online experience OR servers. ALL OF THIS HAS BEEN DONE OVER WIFI INTERNET ALSO!!! The Playstation Network is just as good as XBOX LIVE!! PERIOD!

Bluray. Built in HDMI and bluray player enables the best of the best when it comes to movies. True 1080p experience that cannot be matched. This is a no brainer, if you have nice HDTV and you dont have a bluray player then there should be no other choice. Knock out two birds with one stone and get a ps3 for bluray and RELIABLE HD gaming.

Accessories. I have the key pad, the playstation headset, and blu ray remote. The keypad takes some getting used to but it's great once you do. Awesome for quick in game texts when playing online and really frees up the use of the internet browser for email and typing. The headset is awesome, it has HQ noise reduction and it sounds great. You can connect just about any bluetooth headset you might own already from your cell phone but i didnt have once so i got the PS version and i love it. The Bluray remote works as it should, excellent. Great to have it you are really going to take advantage of the ps3 entertainment and multimedia wise.

Summary. In my opinion the PS3 trumps the competition in every way. The biggest asset to the PS3 is that it's a solid system that is reliable. Bottom line, the ps3 defect rate is 2%. XBOX 360 was as high as 68% and current estimates are around 20%. Google it, no lie. Go read the review for that system and you will hear all about the "red ring of death". Simply put i spent alittle more money at the time for the system i knew wasnt going to fail. Now the prices and similar and the ps3 ends up being cheaper if you are an online gamer. XBOX Live is NOT cheap $$$. The ps3 performs great and also looks great, sleek design and fits in nicely in the entertainment system. The PS3 is the ultimate system, it has the features to keep an adult gamer happy and the reliability to handle the game time a kid is going to throw at it.

Sorry this was so long but i have never reviewed my ps3 and i buy all my electronics at bestbuy so i felt it was my duty. haha"

What's great about it: its fun to play a few games
What's not so great: online play is bad xbox live is way cooler

"ok so i bought this a few weeks ago and the first week i bought it the bluray stopped working and then i had the warranty from bestbuy so i went and exchanged it well bluray worked fine on the new one and just last night it stopped reading games i have like 15 games because my neigbors ps3 broke after having it since the day it came out and he cant afford another one so ghe gave me his games and it wont read any of them! im returing this stupid thing!!!!!!!!!"

"It really better than XBOX 360. Xbox 360 can break easily. But Playstation 3 didnt have problem at all. Xbox 360 did have many problem to fix with $$$. Playstation didnt have RROD! That is good! Xbox 360 have RROD! That sucks for Xbox 360. But playstation3 can allowed go on internet and movies, hear music and more!! That is so amazing than xbox 360. I know that playstation 3 is little expensive right now. I have it too for 9 months but it works good! I thinking about it to make plan to buy more playstation 3. MANY GAMES IS OUT HERE NOW! "Well let me start by saying that this system is pure amazing let me lay down the facts no lies.
1. Build in Wi-Fi
2. Build in Blu-Ray Player (The BEST Blu-Ray player no lie)
3. Its OnLine service its FREE. C'mon people FREE.
4. Its got way better exclusives than xbox, such as,.....
1. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (my favorite)..lol
3. Upcoming Gran Turismo 5 (the FULL version that is)
4. God of War 3
5. M.A.G (its a F.P.S)
6. Killzone 2
7. Upcoming AGENT (from the creators of GTA IV)
and many more........
This system will last you waaaayyyyy longer than the xbox 360, dont get me wrong the xbox is an amazing machine but after getting 8 RRoD (Red Ring of Death) is just said the heck with the xbox system so I made the switch to Playstation 3. Other features for the PSN(Playstation Network) you get to download game videos, game demos, themes, wallpapers, for FREE unlike xbox- live they charge for just about everything. Xbox-Live is just a hair better than the PSN just a hair no big deal. PSN also as HOME where you can create you own avatar and go meet people, play mini-games, unlike the avatar system that xbox has lil mini mees. Playstation 3 is the future make the right choice and get this trust me you wont regret it. I had a Xbox 360 i loved it but after to many system repairs and repairs i got tired and bored of it. Oo one more thing the community on PSN is a lot better, unlike the xbox-live most of the time I played online on the xbox-live i hear to many 9 year old lil kids just screaming being annoyning its kills the fun.... Well if you excuse me I gotta got play some Playstation 3 lol..... Thanks for reading this...."

"Dropped out Backwards compatibility to compensate the price. Stinks because just when i was about to buy on of my own they knocked off one of the features i truly enjoyed.

PS network is free so thats awesome but my expieriance with it has been poor. Seems that the 360 still has the market cornerd with XBL.

Overall a Solid system with a few pretty good Exclusive titles. Hopefully you see more pop-up in the future. If not... well this system might fail which would be a sad thing to see."

"Absolutely perfect system. I can find no fault with it. Excellent graphics, fair price for its performance, easy to use interface, excellent wi-fi, great for playing with friends, tons of great strictly PS3 games, great blutooth and usb connection, beautiful blu ray, fun for chatting, fast and easy internet browsing, non-scratch games which last forever, you can download music and pictures for slide shows, and even after all that the controls are easy to use. I have thus far convinced six of my friends to buy this system and am currently working on numbers seven and eight. Don't hesitate a moment to buy this system, it is perfect for any household."

What's great about it: The capability of the system

"The ps3 80gb is a great system. It is capable of playing blu-ray movies, dvds, and cds. It can store and view all your photos, music, and movies. The ps3 allows free internet usage for video games and to search the internet. The playstation store also allows you to download demos and full games right onto your ps3. With 80gb of space there is a good amount of room to save data compared to the old 40gb and 60gb systems. This system also comes with the dualshock 3 controller which the older systems did not offer. Overall I think it is worth the money. There are blu-ray players out there that cost more than the ps3 and the ps3 is capable of playing blu-ray discs."

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: originally did not come with dualshock 3 controller, limited developers for the high storage compacity blue ray disk

"The is one system that has the potential to be one extremely powerful and great. Though I do not own the 80 gig ps3 i do own the 60 gig ps3 one of only two "fully compatibile systems" (there is an 80 gig 4 usb port with the ps2 software emulation that doesn't play the full library) Now this system has excellent graphics when coupled with a HDTV and the HDMI connections and the sound quality is superb. The game library has grown considerably since the launch and continues to grow and it even has some awesome exclusive games. The price for the system is very cheap considering that it is a blue ray player, basic p/c web surf functions, ability to upgrade the harddrive and add lynx. The version that I have also has the function to play SACD (super audio CD). I cannot wait till a software company developes a game that takes full advantage of the immense storage compacity of a blue ray disk 25 gigs for single layer and 50 gigs dual layer vs the games that are programmed using only 4.7 per dvd disk. over all i give ps3 two thumbs up for what it is now and what the future hold for it. I also own a x box 360 and it is just as great so i must throw this in here. That ps3 online community has a lot lot lot lot of catching up to do."
