If you are choosing between an Xbox 360 or a PS3 I would choose the PS3. I personally own a Xbox 360 and it is very fun and I have no problems at all but over time the PS3 is cheaper. After about 2 years the PS3 is worth it.
If I remember right, the PS3 does NOT come with a mic so you'd have to get a blue tooth mic. If you want the Xbox 360 then by all means get one but the PS3 is cheaper over time....if you do not go online then just look at what games you like and pick a system.
What's great about it: Free Online
What's not so great: not everybody online uses a mic.

i wish i knew that my system was going to overheat causing sauder to melt thus making it inoperable a rather expensive defect .meaning you have to pay almost 250 dollars to get it fixed might as well by a new one by the way my first ps3 was only 18 months wich leaves me in the dark because insurance was only for 1 year. i would recommened it to a freind but not without telling him/her about the futureistic problem.
What's great about it: was how it looked from the outside
What's not so great: overheating

If your reading this, you might be chosing which to buy this xmas, xbox 360 or PS3. Here's some facts to help you decide...
-PS3 has blue-ray, Xbox does not. "yeh but this don't affect games.." BULL!! this means the disc itself can hold 50 gigs instead of 9 gigs, and when dual and quad layer blue ray discs come out, your looking at 100 and 200 gig size discs.
-graphics: honestly they are so close you would need 2 side by side to tell the difference, except if you read below...you will see about resolutions.
-you probably want at least 1 Extra controller: Xbox runs $50, need a couple AA batteries or pay $20 for the play and charge kit. PS3 will run you $55 but has the built in charger battery inside w/ cord. Do you chose to buy AA batteries often, or, risk when your PS3 internal battery runs out it is not replacible and will cost you a new controller. Life expectancy? unsure. Oh and PS3 has this motion sensor inside called six axis which is fun for about 10 minutes before you realize its not life and death to have.
-wireless network? If you don't have an ethernet outlet near your TV, you might want to wirelessly play games online, this will cost $80 extra for the Xbox adapter, comes built in every PS3. While were on online topic, its worth noting you have to pay Xbox $50 per year to play online, PS3's online is free.
-HDMI cable? probably have to buy one of these for less than $10 can be found at many places online. Certain models of the Xbox and PS3's may come with one, but read your boxes under contents!! if it aint listed, it probably aint inside!
-1080p ok so what they don't tell you, every Xbox360 game plays in 1080p, and only a few on PS3 do, read the back of game boxes if you don't believe me, it states on every game. Some games you litterally have to FORCE the PS3 to not see 720 in order to make the game play in 1080p, god knows why it doesn't default to 1080 but for some reason it doesn't.
-Personal Value? Ok here's a topic no one touches on, and can't put a price tag on, WHICH SYSTEMS do your FRIENDS have? If you have no friends with one of these, and 5 friends with the other, do yourself a favor and BUY the one your friends have!! You can swap games, talk about the games you play, play online and friend invite eachother, etc. I am a slight fan of one, and my friend is a slight fan of the other system, and yet we REALLY should have just bought the same systems so we could play together. We didn't and it was a mistake.
-Library of games: Fact Xbox has a larger selection, PS3's selection has grown to a sizable amount to possibly not be a factor anymore? Suggestion, browse for games, pick the system that you think has more games to your liking. Xbox IS/WAS more popular, meaning, you can probably find cheaper used games out there. Downfall? when you get rid of your old games for cash, everyone else is doing the same, you won't get as much.
-I didn't touch on the "this system can break cause mine did" junk, every electronic device in everyones house is different, people treat them different, different humidity levels in houses, pets, smoke, age of user, basic knowledge, etc etc. I won't even get into power fluxuations, voltages in houses, amps, age of wires in houses, etc. And frankly theres ALWAYS a chance that ANY item you EVER buy can break, its life, deal with it. Chances are it won't break if you treat it well, both companies have really overcome this issue in my opinion, that is what buying new gets you, vs used.
-Online network, both support movie rentals, game add ons, demos, video's, etc etc about equally.
-its worth noting on both systems they aren't so quick to tell you MANY games now days sell you the game for $60 and then release add on maps weeks later for a costly amount!! This is only my opinion but "didnt I buy this game once already??" Why did they not give the 3 maps your now selling me for $10 when I first bought the game? Oh thats right, it was probably all designed at the same time, then some developer said "lets yank out this, this and that level, and sell them later for an extra $10 and we'll throw in a gold colored gun and these dumb kids will buy it". Ok thats harsh, but not as harsh as ripping people off and not including the full product when you bought it. When you buy a car do they say come back in 3 weeks and we'll sell you the stearing wheel for an additional price! ?
-I also did not include special holiday deals you can find out there, it would be impossible to compare apples to oranges out there. I will say this, people spend 20k for a new car and spend on avg 10 min a day to and from work, and yet they fret over buying a $300 system they'll play 2+ hours a day, because one is better than the other, for goodness sakes just buy both.
What's great about it: it only does...everything.
What's not so great: some game add-ons cost too much
I would recommend this to a friend!

I already had a 360 and a Wii and found I was missing out on a ton of exclusive titles. Uncharted, Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, inFamous, God of War 3 (to be released in the spring) are all PS3 exclusive titles and worth every penny just to be able to buy and play. However, each game does require a lot of space on the hard drive. Eventually, 80GB just might not cut it. Arkham Asylum alone requires (if memory serves) up to about 3 GB of space to run. Hopefully, this will improve as time goes on.
Add to that, a functioning Blu-Ray player. While Blu-Ray players have fallen slightly in price, many are still around the $200 mark. So why not use that money to gain the exclusive PS3 titles? And Blu-Ray quality is absolutely breath-taking. However, the PS3 comes with a normal yellow composite cable. You would think it should at least come with a component (red, green, blue) cable to capitalize on the HD capabilities, but you will have to fork out extra to gain those incredible pictures.
Unfortunately, I have never been a huge fan of the PS controller and nothing changes here. While the sticks feel more sensitive, it still feels slightly unnatural. 360 and Wii are definitely still ahead in the ergonomic controller front.
Also, it is awesome to have wireless built right in to the console itself. And it functions incredibly. But I am still waiting for consoles to catch up with the wireless technology and begin offering wireless N adapters to work with the already popular wireless N routers.
All in all, I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase. A must have for anyone who enjoys both Blu-Ray and gaming.
What's great about it: Blu-Ray, exclusive titles, User Interface
What's not so great: HDD space, Composite cable included, controller (personal preference)

The palystation 3 is in my mind the best console out. When it first a debut in 2007, it did come out with many good games aand it had a huge price tag. Over the years sony has really improved everything about the system. the online is amazing even if I had to play a yearly fee. Games have also improved dramaticly. many great exclusives have came out like uncharted, ratchet and clank, resistence, little big planet, and many more. Also great new games havent even came out yet. Like mag, god of war III, and mod nation racers. the playstation 3 also has a great blu ray player. I wont even watch regular movies anymore because the graphic in 1080 are amazing. The only down side to the system is more people have a xbox 360. But the number of ps3 unit sold is rising quickly while the 360 is decreasing. do ur self a favor and by a ps3
What's great about it: great built quality, blu ray, free playstation network, great games
What's not so great: not a lot of people have it (more people have xbox)

The Playstation 3 console is truly the top game console. The blu-ray picture on ps3 games look just as great as the outstanding blu-ray disc quality. Don't worry, in my opinion the games are top-notch, and easily just as good as the games for wii and xbox 360. I have had the ps3 for about almost 2 years now, and I do not have a single complaint. The internet works great, and is easy to work with. The blu-ray picture quality is so great and perfect that I watch blu-ray movies over and over again just to see the picture quality! The controls are very good and easy to use, and the upconversion form regular DVD to 1080p is great as well and also looks very clear. Basically, there are no flaws for the Playstation 3. Picture is beautiful, games are fun and exciting, and all the features are easy to use and great. .
What's great about it: Easy setup, unbelievable picture, great sound, great games
What's not so great: none

Overall, it is a great system, not only for playing games, but for blu-ray discs, dvds and cds as well. There are inumerous possibilities. It lacks speed when it comes to internet connection though.
Ps3 has lots of acessories available for purchase. They are of extreme help for internet navigation. Keyboard, mouse, bluetooth headset, you name it! You can basically add anything to it. Blu-ray remote control is a must for watching movies.
What's great about it: Awesome graphics, great functionality, lots of possibilities
What's not so great: Big, heavy, bulky, the unity heats up easily, very slow internet connection

This is a great console! I purchased this to see if I liked the 360 or this PS3 more. To tell you the truth, I can't decide. A lot of people are saying bad things about the 360 and saying how the PS3 is a lot better. True, that the PS3 might have slightly more things to do: use as cpu, blu- ray, and much more, but more people that I know own a 360, so I can play with more of them online than on PS3. Overall though the PS3 is a great console. I can't find anything honestly wrong with it, I think Sony did a great job with this one!
What's great about it: Same price as 360 (unless you get the 160 gb)
What's not so great: blu- ray

I've had this system for a year now when the 80 gig was $400 and have had absolutely no regrets!
Blue-ray, the ability to use it as a computer in the event that your wife, kids, or whoever is using your computer; store music, photos, movies, and any other thing you can think of on it. And if the new 120 gig isn't enough, you can always expand the hard-drive.
Besides the occasional network bumps, the system is flawless.
Another perk is the ability to download new game demos giving you the option of trying out a game before you buy it! (Not to mention it helps keeps kids busy without the need of owning lots of games.)
So in short, GO BUY IT!!! Online is free and I'd love to beat you in a game of SOCOM (My favorite game!)
What's great about it: Entertainment system in and of itself
What's not so great: NADA!!!

We all know what the PS3 does, so I won't write a big review about it.
This is my second or 3 PS3s I own. My first PS3 was the original 60g... I paid $600 for it!!
System is great, the only complaint I have is that it crashes sometimes and I have to do a hard reboot. This happens mostly after a couple of hours of game time, so it might just be that it gets hot.
What's great about it: Video games, free online play, Bluray
What's not so great: Crashes sometimes

This is GREAT!!!! There are so many things about this game console that makes it superior then the others. The blu ray is cool because it is harder to scratch then dvd's/cd's because it has a better coating. The blu ray picture is AMAZING. It's also cheaper then the 360 for me because i'd have to buy a wireless adapter for 80-100 dollars for the 360 where as the ps3 has one built in. I'd also have to spend 50 bucks a year on xbox live if i bought an xbox and the psn is FREE. Ps3 games like resistance, mgs4, motorstorm, infamous, LBP, Uncharted, ratchet and clank, Gran Turismo, etc. But the most important one coming out next year GOD OF WAR 3. To sum it up everything is great. BUY ONE. get the 120 gig though. better deal.
