What's great about it: Great Card
What's not so great: N/A

"This is a response to Achilles 1974's posting on this being a bad card.

What you wrote was "this is bad card" vent, however you failed to provide the details of your experience. What is your motherboard, CPU, power supply, what type of ram and how much, what operating system are you using? Perhaps it was a faulty card, did you return it and ask for a replacement?

What did it do or didn't do when you powered up? Did you run a benchmarking tool such as GPU-Z?

I have this identical card (although I didn't buy it from BB) and my first one was one that was delivered to me DOA (dead on arrival), I sent it back, received a brand new replacement. I installed it and it blazed away at great speeds and hasn't stopped since. Crysis, Bioshock, Half-Life 2, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty - World at War all look great.

I am very happy with this product and remember Google is your friend.

What's great about it: Fastest out there
What's not so great: heat

"For those who left the not so good reviews for this card, google your problems and ye shall find the answers.

If you learn to google I dont think you would be having these problems, I reiterate, google especially if your using M$ Vista OS.

Not to be stereotyping but maybe you should have stayed with Nvidia and the rest of the herds of sheople out there, because if you have been through it all like I have you begin to realize a few things, Nvidia programs their drivers and hardware to get better framerates, because its odd that ATI graphics seem to be clearer, cleaner, better color ect. As far as being pioneers for computer hardware try playing quake 1 online with AOL, and a trident 4 mg vid card and spending $299.99 for the Monster II 3DFX "graphics accelerator, then not satisifed purchased another for SLI 8 meggers, then the 12 meggers came out, yep bought 2 of them and sold the 2 8 meggers to friends. Good luck in the future Nvidia fanboys and fellow non googlers ;) See you on the Battlefield...2.

What's great about it: Speed and Quality
What's not so great: Huge and its a power hog

"this is one of the best video cards i have ever used!!! computer games run very smooth and with very high graphics. i dont know what that post before me was talking about but if you have enough power to run this thing and enough cooling to keep this thing cool then you have an excellent product."

What's great about it: there is nothing great about a card that does not work for what it is intended to work for.
What's not so great: it does not work on games

"I built a new pc in hopes to have it up and running before wrath of the lich king hit stores. And I was really excited about this card after hearing all the great reviews on it. Well I guess the people who gave it such a great review don't play games because this card is no good buy something else. Best Buy is not at fault here but should be just as upset with visiontek as I am. I will never buy another ATI card that forsure."

What's great about it: When it works its got some horsepower
What's not so great: Lack of driver support, mention of the product registering it ... its like it doesn't exist

"I've been a long time gamer since the days of 3DFX. Once they were gone, I was off to Nvidia. After my horrible exp. with the BFG 8800GTX OC2 which was a $625 paperweight for the last 2 years, I took a gamble on ATI. I am going to go ahead and take partial blame because I like screaming graphics and try to buy the best. Unfortunately, the best is like buying a rare car made in Zimbabwe. People talk it up online but apparently have some sort of super natural ability to build there hardware and operating system in a way that works. My guess is they launch the game, screen grab the benchmark and don't actually try to play it for a hour.
I've grown to have a lack of confidence in just about any new hardware, and this is no exception. I'm at least not crashing to a black desktop or getting a BSOD infinite loop. But I miss the days when I could get on my computer, play a game and not actually have a malfunction.
- Slow/Choppy performance in Supreme Commander (video didn't crash like my 8800GTX though). This occurred when a commander would go nuclear or nuclear missle exploded. More stable, but less performance than my last card.
- Guild Wars - played about as good as my 8800GTX OC2.
My setup ...
QuadCore Q6600
6GB Ram
750watt Coolermaster Power
XtremeGamer Creative Sound card.
This is probably the last 'enthusiast' video card I buy. Hopefully the driver support will catch up with the productions desire to release these products too soon."

What's great about it: There is no better graphics card
What's not so great: Make sure the card can fit in your case and has some air flow

"The 4870 X2 is essentially two Radeon 4870 HD cards running in CrossFire mode packed onto a single board (800 shader cores running at 750MHz, GDDR5 memory at 900MHz), but with one big difference: it has a whopping 2GB of frame buffer (1GB effective). It cranks benchmarks like I've never seen. And yes you could buy a second card and run it in crossfire mode (like sli for nvidia). This card kills the GeForce GTX 280. The GeForce GTX 280 is more powerfull than the GeForce 9800 GX2, so I don't know what the one reviewer was thinking when he said the 9800 GX2 was better. If you can afford it buy it. Although it's probally only a matter of time before nvidia answers back with a GTX 280X2. But for now it's the big dog."

What's great about it: great memory and new tech
What's not so great: not worth the money, takes up a lot of power

"This ATI card is the heavy hitter for ATI right now but on a standard level, its bad. First of all the card is overpriced, Nvidia can beat it easily with a 9800 GX2. second the power it takes to run this a enourmous, Nvidia's cards take less power and are more powerful, the PSU that could run this cost 200 so you'll be spending at least over 600. (Depends if the PSU or the card is on sale.)"

What's great about it: Fast, lots of memory and power
What's not so great: Runs hot and it's expensive

"This is a great card if you have the cash to spend. I tried other brands, models and crossfired but this was the best by far. This is an amazing video card with lots of power and memory to run the latest games nicely. Although Crysis puts a strain on the system it runs nice at high detail. As for this running hot you can edit your Catalyst Control profile and speed the fan up a bit if you want. I did it and it runs nice and cool now. All in all I'm sure this will serve me well for years to come. Thanks Bestbuy for your outstanding customer service and prices."

What's great about it: It's the fastest single card out now. I upgraded from a 2900XT 1 GB and obviously it's quite a bit faster.
What's not so great: Size, price, power consumption. None are huge cons if you're looking for bleeding edge speed though.

"If you're looking for the best and you're willing to pay for it this is it."

What's great about it: Fast.
What's not so great: Loud. Runs HOTTT.

"Runs Hot, so good idea to have a larger and well ventilated case. In addition, It is quite loud. This is to be expected though with such power. Runs Beautifully, Games are stunning and it allows for almost 0 fram rate drop. Great Buy."

Defeats Nvidia's Best Card with Ease   08/15/2008
By BigCactus from Mountain View, CA

What's great about it: Price Performance Ratio and good deal on best buy.
What's not so great: Should of bought a second before it was sold out.

"The 4870x2 is easily the top graphics card on the market. This card easily trumps Nvidia's flagship card, the GTX280, and one 4870x2 has even shown to out perform two GTX280s! With a whopping 2GB of Memory, expect pure domination and crisp graphics on today's and tomorrow's games at high resolutions of 1920x1200 and up. Finally you can max out all the settings in a game knowing that this video card won't break a sweat.
The 4870x2 is a bit big so make sure that your case has enough room to fit this beast. It does command a hefty price, but two GTX280s cost about $900...and since the 4870x2 is equivalent to that performance, it still manages to be a bargain for the enthusiast and for serious gamers."

The Fastest Consumer Video Card in the WORLD!   08/14/2008
By SoulTraveller from FL

What's great about it: EVERYTHING minus the power and heat that this thing consumes!
What's not so great: Uses quite a bit of power, but it's not all that bad...should be fixed with the new driver release in September!

"This thing is the best you can buy, and right now is 80-90 bucks cheaper than anywhere else with the pre-order sale. BUY ONE NOW! Or at least get the 4870 or 4850 if you are on more of a budget for less than $200- $300...these cards are truely cards the best, with super FPS rates and the best video quality on the entire PLANET!"
