What's great about it: Roxio Creator 2009 has a well organized interface What's not so great: Needed to install, uninstall, and reinstall it before it worked properly
"Roxio Creator 2009 has a well organized interface that is easy to read. The different functions (i.e. – Burn/copy data disk, Video – Movies, Music – Audio, Photo, Online) can easily be found and accessed. This program does the best job of any CD/DVD burning software that I have had over the past few years. I would definitely recommend it to other people."

"Had to go back to Roxio 7 on my Windows XP because it will not install or work properlly on my Windows Vista. The old Roxio is great but this new one is a wast of money."

"Pro: Roxio 2009 is a new and very complete software program for editing Photo's, Video's, and has an UPGRADED burning and copying speeds for CDs & DVDs. This program installs well on the VISTA Operating System.
Cons: As comparesd with Roxio Creator version 7.5, they have eliminated a number of Transitions, Overlays, Video Effects, and the "Clone" feature found in the Roxio Media Creator 10 Photo Suite. Installation was smooth on the VISTA operating system, but it may take well over 30 minutes to install. On Windows XP-sp2 opeating system (the old & trusted system), I found that I lost some other options (one in particular- the "RANDON" feature in the "Add Content"--apply transition theme). I find that the "OLD" click and drag system much easier to use."

"Roxio Creator 2009 is an update to the popular Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. The update provides a much smoother and visually appealing interface than its predecessor and now supports processing HD and Blu-ray DVDs through an additional cost add-in available from Roxio. Since I do not have a Blu-ray capable reader, I did not try this add-in. The four general functions available on the main screen (Data, Video, Music, and Photo), each bring up a sub-screen with the specific features (applications) which are available in that category. Once a feature is selected (i.e., Burn Audio CDs), the application easily walks you through the steps necessary to accomplish the task.
Overall, I found the package to be very easy to use and thorough in its functionality. All functions worked flawlessly and the burn process seemed to be faster than many of other products that I have recently used (including Easy Media Creator 10). The only drawbacks that I saw during my testing were that it consumed 1.3 gigabytes of disk space and a significantly slower startup time than its predecessor. With today’s gargantuan disks, the space issue is not normally a major problem. Once the initial application screen appears, the program appears to be as snappy as or snappier than its predecessor.
The one feature that I would like to see is in the Data Backup application. This application only supports backing up to an optical device. I would like to see support for backing up to other devices either internal or removable (i.e., either internal or external disk drives)."

"Haven used version 10 I can't say that this 2009 version is that much different. However if you need certain features it may be worht the upgrade. For me it was. It can burn hd and bd videos disks, even on standard dvds. Yes, even the ones that are about a dollar or less/disc. It doesn't have as much space but the quality is there. I could even burn bd dvds and for the psp3. Roxio now includes internet media storage too. They offer more online services for a fee but so far I don't need them. Frankly there's a lot packed into the regular suite and I haven't even gotten to much of what it can do."

Best digital media programs

What's great about it: Covers anything regarding digital media What's not so great: Some overlapping in features
"I'm excited to have one program that does it all. I thought there would be very basic programs which I wanted but I got much more. I've used many photo editors and Photosuite is the best of the basics. It's not up to pixel oriented programs, but anybody can crop, make color changes, and fix red eye with it. One basic video program is quick, the other does complicated video projects. Music programs include playlists, music creation, and blending of songs so there's no pause. It has label and menu creation, index listings, backup utilities, and portable player conversion. It's so full I don't know if I'll ever use all the programs."
