Had been looking out for laptop for a while. Boiled down to Dell and Toshiba (2 of these were under $600.00 price range). Toshiba looked better as it had modem and a better wireless adaptor. Dell had more memory. But this one seems to be a fusion between those 2 and at a price which is $100.00 lesser than them. Thus, if you are not a gaming/entertainment freak and need a laptop purely for personal usage, mailing, chatting and doing small stuff on the internet, then this is the product meant for your. This is not a heavy duty laptop, but a definite value for money!
What's great about it: Same laptops cost more ouside, value for money, meant for basic usage
What's not so great: Not found yet, will let you know

The fetures on this computer are awesome yet I find myself getting frustrated with it's Dell software, sometimes, when I would tell it to go to sleep, it does an incorrect re-boot instead and shows a screen telling me so. Also, good luck with Dell support. Other than that it's pretty good for my uses, very fast and easy to use.
What's great about it: Almost everything!
What's not so great: Dell software glitches, fan noise, disc drive noise/vibrations

My wife and I got this as a Christmas gift this year. Before that, we shared a desktop and often would argue about who would use the computer...NO MORE ARGUING! I hate laptop mouse pads and think that they are too difficult to use, so I've disabled mine and hooked up a USB wireless mouse. I really encourage everyone to do this. I wish this came with Microsoft Office instead of Works Suite. I happened to pick up a neighbors wireless signal, so I'm sure it's not secure, so I'm going to Best Buy today to grab a wireless router. I haven't used the camera yet, not sure I understand who or what I would record...I'll look into that. I also like that it is password protected so people can't log on. I wish the keyboard had a full number keyboard like desktop keyboards have on the right. Other than that this computer is very sleek looking and I like the ruberized finish. I wouldn't want any other laptop, however when I'm at home, I do perfer my HP desktop (also from Best Buy). I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION.....
What's great about it: I love that I can lay on the couch and browse the web anytime via wifi
What's not so great: When I type, my wrists hit the mouse pad and causes my curser to move, thats it

I really like the 15.4 screen size. It makes all the difference in the world from a 15. The 17 are too big. This one is "just right." I like the fact that it didn't come loaded with useless software. I caught it on an excellent sale at Christmas so I can't complain.
What's great about it: Nice Display and it seems sturdy enough
What's not so great: Fan is somewhat noise but I've gotten used to it. Battery has short life too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got it for $599. Nice laptop for the price. I removed all the junkware. As soon as I booted up, it found my home network. The keyboard feels great. The display is bright when it's plugged in but very dim when running on the battery. You can make it brighter, but it sucks up the battery life. The battery life is only about an hour and 15 minutes. There is a power save mode, but I have not tried it. My biggest gripe is that the 2 USB ports on each side are so close together that you can't use both at the same time. So, in reality you can only have 2 USB devices plugged in at anytime, even though there are 4 USB ports. Did the people at Dell ever try to use all four ports at the same time ?
What's great about it: Fast processor, bright display, and the keyboard feels nice.
What's not so great: Battery life is short, USB ports are placed too close together

I purchased my Dell Inspiron Laptop on 12/11/08 at Best Buy when it was on sale at the time and it has worked flawlessly right out of the box!! Easy to setup although it took some time transferring all of my folders,files,music and photos from my old Desktop computer only because the Vista Easy Transfer software that I bought kept freezing up so I returned it and just transferred them using a USB Flash Drive I had.
I was a bit leary about Windows Vista at first since I was use to Windows XP but it works fine after getting use to the new operating system.
The internal webcam and mic work great after you figure out how to make it start.
Battery life is short but I just usually keep it plugged in anyway.The internal speakers are a bit weak but I have external speakers plugged in which sounds great.
All-in all I am very happy with my Dell Inspiron Laptop..
What's great about it: Just about everything
What's not so great: Short battery life and weak internal speakers

This is a great computer for the price. It is super fast and is thin and light weight. The bad part is the fan controls on this computer are horrible. Even when the CPU is at idle the fan is spinning at full RPM. Vista isn't that bad but i would prefer XP. On this computer i always have 1 GB of RAM being used. Bottom line great computer for the price.
What's great about it: love the keyboard, screen size, plenty of RAM
What's not so great: vista, hard drive, fan controls

This is my first laptop, so I don't have much to compare it to. Overall, it's a great value for the price. It's fast, very easy to use and hasn't overheated on me yet--it's also pretty quiet. I've written papers on it and it works great. Another plus is the built in webcam--one of the main reasons I chose this laptop. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it.
What's great about it: easy to use, great price, fast
What's not so great: the only thing i can think of is that if it's not plugged in, the screen is a little dim.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got this laptop 2 days ago and i LOVE it. This is my first laptop and its great. I use it mostly for music, serfing the web, pictures, and watching dvds and its great for all of those things. The only problem is that it has a short battery life and thats about it. Overall this is a great laptop!!!!
What's great about it: Its easy fast
What's not so great: short battery life

I have only had it for two days and i have been on it almost all of that time I am really enjoying all that it has to offer!
What's great about it: The Price is okay the features are the best.
What's not so great: The Fan, it is loud but so are many other laptops, it cuts on and off a lot!

Very good design, almost as good as Sony's. great performance, intersting desktop. good for long-term usage. doesn 't get too hot at all. Only problem I found so far is when I play something on youtube and the sound is so small compare to other laptops I have used,but it's fine when I use a earphone though. Great computer overall.
What's great about it: easy to start with, great value for this price, fast,stylish,funny video chat effects
What's not so great: sounds (too small)

This is a very good LapTop for the price & the Configuration. I bought one with T5750 processor (everything esle is the same) during the Back-to-school sales in august for 599$. This one is even more better as the bus speed increases from 667 to 800Mhz with the T5800 Processor.
Overall, good Value for money.
What's great about it: RAM, Processor, HardDrive Space, webcam
What's not so great: touchPad, speakers

I bought this from US from like 3 month ago,and since that day the laptop is wokring fine and nohting wrong with it and the dell software is cool
i like its design its so simple,its a very durable laptop i can leave it runing for days and still the same preformance, whta i dont like about it that the bluetooth in it is disabled
but as an overall product is awesome im satisifed with it

Great cpu, great price all the inputs FOUR usb ports's S-video,hdmi the hard drive space,3 gigs of memory and all these inputs for this price is great.Batt life is fine cpu comes set to max brightness dim it a little it adds an hour.Picked up this cpu an epson 3in1 printer and the trend micro software for $587.(I still use mcafee but my friend needed the trend micro).
Even at regular price it's not a bad deal with the performance and the hdmi input.

recent purchase, so far so good, as mentioned, battery life not good, but that all depends on your usage and whether or not you want to look at a dark screen or if you want it brighter.
it had the major features i wanted (min. 250GB HD, Firewire, webcam, min. 3GB mem., 2MB L2 cache).
overall good value as this was on sale in store for $550
What's great about it: easy to set-up and get started immediately
What's not so great: battery life

Got this laptop to do my college classes online, and its super-fast. Doesn't get too hot, runs quickly (enough) and quietly, great buy.

got this laptop for my mother who does word processing, e-mail, and internet browsing with some occasional photo editing. She has been happy with the laptop. Her #1 complaint is the battery life. Its only good for about 1 1/2 hours before she has to plug it back in. The bottomline is if you are looking for a good laptop that doesn't cost much, and won't move out of your home/office much, then this is it.
What's great about it: Fast, Good amount of memory, price
What's not so great: Battery life

For the price this laptop is great. Lightweight, easy to use; keyboard is awesome, and wide screen is perfect.
What's great about it: Fast, great screen, nice keyboard
What's not so great: Touchpad not very responsive, even after adjustments were made
