I have owned several different models of Bissel Carpet Cleaners over the years, and always blamed their flaws on myself, for letting friends borrow them, only to return them broken.
My latest Bissel is the ProHeat Turbo.. I vowed to lie to friends that wanted to borrow it, by telling them it was broken because I was accusing them of being careless and destroying them. I have had this product, "unborrowed" for 2 years now, and have had to replace quite a few parts on it myself. I always clean it up and store it just as the directions recommend, use the solvents recommended and only bissell cleaning products were ever used. I consider myself a moderately mechanically inclined, and have replaced the water pump, heater, and now the beater brush. This product may have been used 6Xs

This product is or has... Spinning scrub brushes, Easy to store, falls apart easily, cheaply made all plastic parts
About me... replaced parts on this many times, would have been better off renting a machine

What's great about it: Lighter and smaller, very effective cleaner
What's not so great: Not meant for large areas.
It does everything they say it sould do. I bought it for my parents who had a hard time using the older bigger bissel rug cleaner. The older one had 2 tanks which when full made the cleaner very heavy and difficult for them to use. This one is much easier to use and it can reach spaces we couldn't get to with the larger one.
Other reviews say they have to refill it more often. This is true, however, it is much lighter when filled and is very effective with the on board heater. So we filled it maybe 2 times more than before. It was worth it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have bought 3 Bissell products. I have been very disappointed and frustrated everytime. The machine quit working after the first time I used them. I'm not hard on them, I cleaned it after using. But the water will not pump and the suction does not pick up the soapy part that does come out. I called the support line and went through the troubleshooting tips and was told I would have to take it to a service center where they will charge $40 just to look at it. That's what I did with the second one and figured it was cheaper to buy another machine. I was wrong, it did the same thing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This cleaner is great. It has a two year old and two ten year olds and 3000sq ft to keep up with. It does a great job. I can tell what our old cleaner was leaving behind. The only bad thing is with such a large house the water tank is a little small but perfomance wise this is the best bang for your buck

What's great about it: The amount of dirt that it picked up, the size of the product
What's not so great: water canister can be bigger
I bought this product in desperate need a deep carpet cleaning. I own 4 dogs of my own and I am the manager of a doggie daycare and boarding facility and I work out of home. The amount of mess that is created is beyond amazing it picked up everything and my carpet looks like it is brand new. Will for sure buy again in the future

What's not so great: It WILL break after a few uses, I give it a 4 to 6 month life span
Yes the compartment for the cleaner and water is small, but that is the least of your problems...I used this machine about 7 times in my apartment and it no longer works. It will not suck up or spray water...it has lasted 4 months!
It looks brand new and is useless...I still can't believe it.

What's great about it: easy to assemble, price
What's not so great: cleaning performance, water extraction, small water reservoir
The cleaning solution/water reservoir is small. It took 3 fills to clean a 6 ft x 4 ft high traffic area and I still had spots left. In addition, the unit did not extract as much of the water as other models I've used in the past. This leaves the carpet more wet and leads to longer drying time. I applied pressure to the top of the cleaning head and got half a bucket of water out of the carpet that the unit would have left in.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Lightweight, quiet, does a good job
This is a great machine, cleaned carpets that I hadn't ever cleaned (15 years) and did a really good job. It is lightweight, quiet, and for the price I think it's a good deal. I don't think the dirty water mixes with the clean--it has a separate part below it where the dirty water goes, I believe. It got out stains that have been in my carpet for years and I didn't pre-treat them. I think it got hot enough, I didn't expect "steam". Carpets dried pretty quickly too--I followed the directions about not getting them too wet. I did a whole house (2 floors worth) and only had to change the water 5 times, which I don't think is bad. Haven't tried the accessory yet, but I plan to do my steps next and expect it will work fine. Convenient having my own machine that I can use whenever I want.

What's not so great: small container for water and no seperate container for cleaning solution
The heater on the unit really doesn't heat up that much. The container for water is very small thus having to constantly refill and dump out dirty water, also there isn’t a separate compartment for the cleaning solution it mixes right in with water. It’s okay but don’t expect much from it.

What's great about it: affordable, well known brand, no bigger than an upright vacuum cleaner
What's not so great: clumsy water reservoir system to clean/fill, average suction power
it did a decent job cleaning my carpet. to really get a good suction, this model needs more weight on the front end where the vacuum is. i found myself standing in front of the cleaner while pressing down on it with one foot and hopping along with the other, pushing it backwards to really get that last bit of water and suds out of the carpet. but other brands ive tried, even the grocery store rentals, its pretty much the same deal.
if you are worried about how long it will last and not break, as many prior reviewers have noted - a 4 year extended warranty was only $20 from Best Buy. you cant beat that!! get the warranty and dont worry about it.

What's great about it: It does a good job at first...but give it time...
What's not so great: The clean water bladder sits inside the dirty water...
This does the job essentially but.... When you change the water you poor it out and sometimes the dirty water goes into the bladder and it just is nasty... something odd about clean water sitting inside the dirty water...
I am looking at getting the Hoover All Terrain they have two separate containers for clean and dirty water... and it also has scrubbing rotating circular brushes that do a much better job... rather than the vacuum style brush that does not compare...
anyhow dow what you wish... but for less than $150 more you will not go wrong... Good Luck...

What's great about it: Easy to use - easy to move - cleans well
What's not so great: belt breaks easily, detergent runs out quickly, broke after 2 yrs.
I loved this machine when I first got it. Had it for 2 years, then the belt broke. The water doesn't dispense, Pro-Heat - water doesn't really heat up. "Steam" clean is a myth with this machine. For the price, I guess it was good. However, after 2 years, I'm shopping for a new steam cleaner and I'm pretty steamed about that.

I was shopping for a hand held upholstry vac when I found this Bissell for a great price! I have 2 dogs that believe the couches are their personal beds when I am not at home. The upholstry attachment was easy to use and made my furniture look brand new!
I suggest the Bissell pet stain and odor remover because it has no strong scent to it. I also mixed half the suggested amount based on previous reviews and it worked perfect on the upholstry. I mixed 3/4 for the carpet. I know newer models have 10 and 12 rows of cleaning brushes, but the 6 that came with this upright vac are plenty for me!
After receiving quotes of close to $200 for a one time cleaning of my furniture alone, this purchase was such a great deal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We have an older dog that "forgets" he's not outside yet. So the carpet gets soiled very quickly in certain places. This 2x Proclean we bought out cleaned any rental machine we ever used, and the special pets cleaner made by Bissel took every bit of stain and smell out!

What's great about it: Dual water tanks allows for very easy water fill and disposal.
What's not so great: Not enough suction to pick up dirty water in grout.
I'm very pleased with this machine, overall. It's big and heavy, but it does a great job with carpet. I've bought upright steam cleaners before and this is the first one I have been satisfied with. It doesn't do well on tile due to the dirty water build up in the grout. Not matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to suck the water. So, the grout ended up looking dirtier than before. I had to go back and clean.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Cleaned all the spots and has hand tools. Great Price!!!
What's not so great: Big machine. But works great, worth the hassle of storing it.
My carpet was stained from all the foot traffic after Hurricane Dolly. I had used an old small Bissell I had. I also hired an "expert" carpet cleaner. I still had some stains after all that. I ordered this Bissell because of the heating element. I was so excited after using it. It took out every last spot. It was great and the carpet looks good. I like the large dual tank and the hand tools. The hand tools are great for tough spots on the floor or furniture.
The only problem is that it is a big machine. But I am so happy that I got it.
P.S. Now all my friends/family want to borrow it. Thank you!
