What's great about it: Lasting Battery, 350 hours of video!...
What's not so great: The ear phones that came with it were not that good...
Well, just to add that , since I got my ZUNE.. I havent stopped using it(dec/08)..
I have a lot of movies in it... like 60 gigs of pure movies I could carry when Im travelling...!
I have a lot of music... just to name a few discographies I have , The doors , the beatles , the cure , Led zeppelin , and a lot much more music (all in all, i have about 4000 songs..)

What's great about it: Easy to use, superb battery life.
What's not so great: Aftermarket support
The Zune is a great device. It's very easy to setup and sync your library. Just add the folder and let it fly. The FM Tuner with the ability to mark songs for purchase is a neat and useful feature. The Social network allows you to connect with friends and shares your taste of music with others. Connect the Zune to your XBox360 and enjoy your Zune experience on a bigger screen.
The only downside at this point is the aftermarket support, that's slowly growing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I agree there has been some glitches, but as for people saying it is inferior. They probably used it for one day and had the glitches, then completely gave up. I had it the whole year since last September and only had maybe two time the music got completely removed. I have dropped it a lot and still plays fine. I have even used in my car thumping down the road. I got a car charger that works fine on it. For all the people complaining about the durability, makes me think they are all from a nut house. This things way better than an ipod hands down. I had an 80 gig ipod classic before this one and the screen was tiny. You had half screen to see anything on the ipod, because of the ugly split screen. There is no customizing in the ipod at all. The dang equalizer did not sound good on the ipod. So I would not switch back to ipod unless microsoft totally cuts off all the HDD zunes after the zune HD. I would recommend this over ipod any day, any hour, any minute, any second. The only thing keeping zune back is the 64gig Ipod Touch and that is not much. If they come out with 64gig flash zune HD, I will get it.

I bought a zune and i have to say it's the most worthless thing i've ever bought. The thing crashes daily and i have to keep updating and uploading music. It took about a week just to get the software uploaded and since then not a day passes without it crashing. The subscription expires daily, which should not be the case and any music uploaded with DRM has to be reloaded. DON'T BUY!!! It looks nice but it's junk!

What's great about it: Slick design. Easy to use. Better value than using Itunes.

I do not know what problems these other reviewers have had. But after using the ipod for a while, I switched to zune and zunepass and I have never looked back. I got my 120gb zune back in May and it has been wonderful to use it and the zunepass service. I save a lot of money compared to what I would have paid for songs/albums through itunes. The accesories are great for the zune. it's easy to use. The downloads and zune syncing are so easy a caveman can do it. Don't pay any mind to the people badmouthing the zune. I am a very picky person and say this thing is great. So many features, FM tuner, wireless Zune to Zune transfers, ease of use, slick design. It's all good. Only problem I have had so far is the touch sensitive controls are too touchy at times and accessories can be hard to find in my area.
I would recommend this to a friend!

dont waste your money on this junkbox you will not be happy with it.the website is slow and always hard to sign in.there are no movies to download,the battery life is short and the zune only works when theres a charge so even if its plugged in you have to wait for the battery to get a charge.you can sign up for 14.99 a month where you can download all the songs you want but the catch is you need to sync with your computer every day or so or nothing will play.in short i hate my zune and i curse the day i bought one just get an ipod which is what im going to do.i wish someone had told me this thing was going to be such a pain in the you know what...good luck

For $ 250.00 one would think they could include and operators manual and believe me you'll need one. I made this purchase so as to be able to download movies and so fare after 6 weeks - movie downloads ZERO.

What's not so great: Not many features, JUST music, bulky.
This product is great for those looking for just a music and video player, There is a lot of room, maybe even too much. However, slow processor so tends to freeze. I would MUCH rather have an iPod Touch or any iPod infact. For young people like I, iPods are much more fit for us, not so boring, ZUNEs are pretty straight foward and dull.

One thing the IPod has is the accessories, but what it doesn't have is a FM Turner.. I'm a nerd, I like NPR during the day at work. Easy to use!

Great sound quality, custom backgrounds, FM tuner, wireless sync, wireless zune to zune sharing, wireless marketplace, Zune Pass, nice big screen (haha ipod classic) great for movies, HD podcasts look amazing, easy to use interface and computer software, plays lots of formats,FM tuner with buy from FM feature,scratch resistant glass front and aluminum back...these are just some of the reasons that i love my zune. it would be a perfect player if it only had an EQ on it...other than that, i have absolutely no complaints about it. honestly couldnt be happier with my purchase, even without the EQ

I've had a Zune since they first came out. I've purchased every generation of Zunes and so far, I've been more than happy.
Microsoft's Zune has done quite a bit to impress me and my friends, who we're all previous Apple iPod users. We understand the need for the pretty ones, but now we've matured enough for the more intelligent ones.
Now don't get me wrong, its not at all an ugly MP3 Player, it just has quite a few features that separate itself from leading competitors.
For example, the Zune lets you "talk" to other Zunes via WiFi technology, allowing you to enter what Microsoft likes to call the "New Social". I was pretty impressed when I could send my brother a song I liked to his Zune. Much to my dismay, he listened to it a few times and became bored. So I went to my friend with the same song and sent it to his Zune. My friend Jack liked it so much that he went ahead and downloaded it for his personal collection!
Plus, you can even download games to play! I love texas hold'em and I play whenever I'm just sitting around at lunch. Sometimes my friends join me in a game and all four of us play around the table at lunch. I win pretty much every time, but we still all enjoy playing. Besides playing together in a peer to peer "ad hoc" mode, we also play for stats.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed and excited to listen to my Zune every time I turn it on. Buy this product, you won't be disappointed! =D

What's not so great: Lack of a big selection of accessories, not compatible with macs.
This is a fantastic music player! It has fantastic sound quality, features are too many to list, and the battery life is as huge as the screen! The only negatives on the Zune is that it is not (yet) mac compatible. Also, when compared to iPod's vast array of accessories, the Zune has few. There are a selection of cases, docks, cables and a few speaker docks, but that may not be what some people are looking for. The lack of accessories and non-compatibility with Mac Computers are the only factors holding this from beating the iPod for music and video player supremacy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a great little media player with a great display, decent music playback, nice headphones and lots of features.
I love being able to listen to radio when I want to on my Personal Media Player. This is one advantage the Zune has over an iPod, although with the invention of Pandora you can get personalized radio on your iPod, but, if you're not near a hotspot you would be able to listen to NPR or news radio on an iPod the way you can on a Zune.
One of the other fun things about the Zune is that you can share music via WiFi with others with a Zune. I rarely use this feature, but I like having this option.
What is more important is that you can finally buy music wirelessly through the device, using the Zune marketplace much like you an with an iPod and the iTunes store.
Also, It's got a brilliant 3.2-inch glass display, the better for watching videos, viewing photos or playing games (though the selection is a bit sparse right now). While the display is good in low ight, it's a little hard to see images on the screen in bright daylight.
The battery capacity is OK, but not great. I've gotten through a typical day on one charge, listening to music and watching a 44-minute TV show, but that was it.
Overall, the Zune 3G is a good choice for anyone who wants to carry a lot of media with them (you get an enormous capacity for a decent price) and enjoys having an easy-to-operate, feature-rich, nice-sounding player with a really nice display.

I have had this Zune for about 7 months now, and it still works like the first day i bought it. It has been thrown to the ground a couple of times, and it doesnt even have a scratch. It is hard to keep clean since its glossy in the front, but its no biggy. I havent had ANY problems with my Zune, and I am happy that i bought it. It doesnt compare to iPods and other mp3s! Your money is well worth it! If you are thinking on buying it, go NOW!

In my opinion, for $249.99, this is a much better deal than other iPod/mp3 products on the market. Simple features like FM radio and wireless connectivity are a good advantage. The screen is nice and wide for watching movies, and the menu is very responsive and easy to use and navigate. I prefer the Zune Touch Pad to the iPod scroll wheel because I think it's way more responsive, simpler to use and much more efficient. I've got this model of Zune and I have about 14-15 high-definition movies (the Zune automatically down-scales them) and 2,500 songs, and I still have about 90.0 GB of memory free. It is excellent at compressing your files to optimize space, but it does NOT compromise the quality of the files at all. My only complaint about the Zune is it's lack of file support. It basically accepts two types of video files and two types of audio files. For video: mp4 and wmv. For Audio: mp3 and m4a. Also, the game selection is pretty weak, but the games that are provided are fun. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good mp3 player. It is one of the best on the market, especially for the money.

I was ready for an Upgrade from my ITouch.. since I couldn't afford the largest model (32GB for $399?), I figured I'd look into other mp3 players. I researched many, the Ipod 120gb, the Archos (605, 705, g5 & g7- also very pricey) and settled on the Zune because of it's larger display screen, buy from FM capability and the deal available (free AV kit - definitely worth it).
Quickly I realized what I had done - with one purchase I had lost hundreds of songs from my Itunes library because they are not compatible with the zune. Most were okay, but about 400/1602 were not.
Also, the lack of an equalizer is probably the worst part. Doesn't MS realize we will have different types of music on a player, requiring a different EQ setting for each genre? Upgrade please!
The reception on the tuner is like any other device...
The Zune software takes some getting used to, but once you figure it out, it's like ITunes, but better since many sonce are less than 99 cents.
I miss the ease of my ITouch, but appreciate the price and the storage capability my Zune allows me.
Will I recommend a Zune to someone? Yes - unless their last MP3 player was an ITouch...

I love to shop at best buy for anything. The Zune player can do really cool things you can share videos and music, plus you can't do that with the Ipod but both players have good sound quality.I love music in general and the Zune is the way to go If you love to watch videos and movies. I have a Sony mp3 and the sound quality is so bad. I recommend the zune player to anyone. My plan is to buy a zune player because it's worth the money and sound Quality. Best Buy has everything you want to enjoy.

This product is amazing!!! So far i have not had any trouble with it and i have had it for about a year and half. I can't tell you how many times i have dropped this thing, AND IT STILL WORKS!!! The screen display is full of vibrant colors and surprises me every time i turn it on. The other thing is that you are able to upload photos and set them as your background, ipod can't do that. This device is soooooo easy to use and the games on it are pretty enjoyable!! ALSO, the headphones that i got with my zune are EXCELLENT!! they have amazing sound and the bass is soo deep and rich while the highs are so clear! Overall this product is very friendly to use, durable, and very excellent!! GREAT JOB MICROSOFT!! oh and its a great product to have if you own an xbox 360!!!!

What's not so great: Not so many accessories. Can't access playlist opt. from device. Marketplace???
120GB is a lot of space(30,000 songs). The software is easy to manage & maintain. The only feature left out was the ability to access full playlist options from the device. Outside of that, there's not a lot of accessories available either. And the Zune Marketplace's content seems rather limited, not to mention their social aspect lacked a bit. But none of these trouble spots take away from the overall package the Zune has to offer. This is definitely my favorite mp3 player.
