What's great about it: Great connectivity options, great design

"Good TV for the price I paid ($587) but I am kind of unhappy with the picture compared to my almost 4-yr-old LG 37" 720p. The Toshiba doesn't handle SD sources well (most LCDs don't but my LG does) and also shows bad digital compression artifacts on both SD and HD sources. I would return it for the comparable current-model LG at $699 except the Toshiba has variable audio outputs which are essential for my bedroom sound setup. The Toshiba's color and brightness looked much better in the store than it does in my bright room. However, there is no other brand-name 37" LCD at this price, especially with this set of features, and I don't really need a top-of-the-line TV in my bedroom."

"I bought the TV yesterday and it seems like a good choice for the price.. I have to say that the speakers are very quite you have to turn up the vol. level past half to make it loud for the room. And when you watch tv it takes a sec. or two before the pix gets brighter or darker. So if the sceen is dark then goes light you can see the screen wait a second to change to bright or dark."

What's great about it: When it works it actually has great picture and sound.
What's not so great: It doesn't work after three weeks. Bought, exchanged, now returning the exchanged TV.

"I bought this TV and after three weeks while watching the news, it went blank and the sound repeated itself. I tried to punch in any buttons and nothing happened. Before I was able to try to shut it off, it turned off itself. Then two days later, the same thing happened to me again. I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for a new one, thinking maybe I just got a lemon. I really do like the TV, when it works. Now after three weeks, the same thing happened to me again. Since my 30 days from the exchange is coming up, I'm just going to take it back. What are the chances of getting two TV's of the same brand that are lemons?"

"This TV has a gorgeous picture, at this size I honestly cannot tell the difference between 1080 and 720 - if you are looking for a good priced LCD with a beatiful picture, this is a good choice.

However, the sound is not very good. I also have experienced the strange buzzing sound from the TV speakers, but I have hooked up my Bose wave system through the cable box, so now the sound is great.

If you have another sound solution, this TV would be great for you."

What's great about it: Very good value in the 37" flat panel market, great picture
What's not so great: sound through TV speakers is acceptable but not great. Lacks customizable features.

"I have owned this product for about 3 months and have not experienced any of the problems that a couple reviewers had such as a buzzing sound. To be honest the picture quality has far surpassed my expectations. There are just enough HDMI inputs and it was really easy to set up quickly. Now that I've had the TV for a few months I wish for little things to be different, like customizable labels for the inputs. There are many choices for labels already preset but none that say "iPod dock" for example. There also isn't a very robust customization system for fine tuning the picture, however I haven't needed to since the picture quality was so good with the presets. I shopped for this TV for months and my experience has been that it is rarely on sale (in fact in the past six months I don't believe it has been on sale at all at best buy). I happened to find it on sale elsewhere, but honestly it would be worth every penny of the $699 price tag."

"Bought this tv for the same reason many others did..the price and the brand name recognition. Initially, the picture looks sharp and you think you got a great tv but then you calibrate it and you realize the colors are still way off. RED skin tones, super overdone contrast, presets are ridiculous--even had a buddy professionally calibrate it and it looked worse! I returned the set and exchanged it for Panasonic plasma which was just about the same price--I'm done with LCD's. Also: annoying buzzing noise, terrible response time when watching sports, gaming mode is good though. For this price you can get a much better tv"

"This TV is amazing. I've had it for about a month (and I waited that long before I wrote a review on purpose). I mostly use it for my PS3- gaming and blue ray, although I do watch some tv too. The picture quality is amazing, especially on blue ray. I watched Trasnformers in BR the other day expecting to notice the detail that wasn't put into the machines. Boy was I wrong! The details were even better, and they looked even more realistic. The sound on the TV isn't fantastic, but it is definitely better than a lot of other flat screens I've heard. It's on par if not slighly better than the 27" tube TV I just replaced. I hooked up some basic speakers (2.1) and it sounds great.

Couldn't be happier with the purchase."

"This is my first high definition television, and I am not disappointed. I went to the store intending to buy a Dynex, but I was wary of a less familiar brand. I already own two Toshiba televisions, so I trust their quality.

I have a Bose 3-2-1 home theater system and my cable box hooked up through HDMI cables, and I couldn't be happier with the sound and the image quality.

My living room is not very large, so the 37" size is perfect. At this size, 720p looks just as good as 1080p."

"This tv is a great choice for anyone looking for a good tv without spending to much. I also have a 42'' samsung lcd that cost $2,000 and of course the samsung is better. But this toshiba is really nice, i have a samsung blu-ray player hooked up to it with really nice HDMI cables(which you need to get the best HD picture on any tv no matter how much it cost). If you dont use HDMI cables then your missing out big time, without them your only getting half the quality that your tv is capable of, for sound and picture. The color settings take some tweaking on this tv, but once you change it up the picture is great. With a nice blu-ray and good HDMI cables this tv actually gets 1080i picture thats not as good as 1080p but its still good. Remember get HDMI cables, they are the best cables period."

What's great about it: Video Game Mode

"I bought the tv yesterday and am very happy so far for the $699 it cost.

PICTURE:
-Decent HD picture. Not the best, but good enough so that you'll be satisfied. I noticed the resolution was lower than most all other 37 inchers though.

-To me 37 inches is too big for non HD channels on an LCD tv. It's doable, but not as crisp as non HD on a plasma or smaller screen.

-The video game mode is great. I'm not sure exactly what it does, but after playing one game of NHL09 on my PS3 I noticed certain things, like the reflection of the scoreboard in the ice, which I had never seen before.

-Has multiple viewing features that are a nice touch. I prefer standard as movie is too dark and sports is to bright, but you have options available to change it.

-7 aspect ratios and the tv seems smart enough to detect them.

SOUND:
-There is a definite buzzing sound coming from the tv. It was bad enough for 1 perosn here to return it. For me it's not an issue.

-It's not an issue, because this tv is great if you have surround sound. Noticable upgrade over my last tv (Westinghouse)

FEATURES:
-Channel scan so if you don't have an HD box you can still get your basic over the air HD channels (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, PBSx4, etc).

-Standard tv features. The auto aspect ratio feature is nice. (determines best viewing ratio for you automatically)

-Freeze button. Pointless to me, but you can freeze real tv if need be. I haven't read about this in the manual to see if it is actually useful.

-Favorites, sound settings, all that jazz.

-2 HDMI. Inputs are all in the back and at an angle so you plug the cords "up" to actually plug them in. No wires on the side which is nice.

OVERALL:
-Like I said very happy. Lot of features for adjustng the picture to best suit you or your environment. Ideal for avid gamers and people who watch a lot of DVDs."

The highlight of the living room

What's great about it: outstanding for anything in HD
What's not so great: very minimal sound issues.

"I bought this tv because anything toshiba we ever owned has alway been great quality and this tv is definitly no exception. Excellent picture quality if you have true HD resolution. I find its best qualities comes from playing Xbox 360. The colors are so vivid and the tv has a video game mode for faster responce time with the controller. Also xbox live users will find netflix streaming movies coming through with outstanding transitions due to the cinespeed. I originally bought it for the 360, but find it also very good to watch sports with friends in HD and enjoy nature shows in the morning before work. The only thing that wasnt 100 percent is the sound. If you have an HDMI cable it comes through just fine. However you might find yourself adjusting the volume quite a bit with the different resolutions (ex. 480p to 720p). Sometimes I notice it during commercials. Thats when the 1/2 mute comes in very handy. For video games you have to turn the volume way up if you really want to jam out. Getting a sound system would be an easy fix for those issues. If you are looking for the ultimate tv for video games this is it. Everything else that you happen to enjoy just consider a bonus."

"i had a 32 inch, had to return it because the tv would loose its picture for no reason and it would start making i loud clicking sound through its speakers.now the 37 inch is doing the same thing and its only 12 days old.ive been on the phone with tech support and they hav never herd this before."

"This TV eas something I thought would be great for our home. It comes on, but takes some time for this to happen. Nothing is fast at all on it. The picture is somewhat cloudy and the sound is hard to get just right. I just don't care for it, but will keep it for now. If you are thinking about buying one, think on another brand. You get what you pay for..."

"We bought this TV right after Christmas and right after a price drop to $649. I was going to buy either a Vizio or a Dynex but with the price drop it made this TV the best choice for the money. We have it in out bedroom with Dish Network feeding it and couldn't be happier...the souind is excellent and we haven't hooked it up to home theatre yet and probably won't. It has all the features you need with 2 HDMI inputs that covers the satelite and DVD feeds, can'r ask for anything more!"

"I have been going through the process of upgrading to an HDTV now for two years. I've looked at reviews, put money aside, and scratched my head, wondering when prices would come down enough for me to splurge.
On a whim, I bought this Toshiba which was on sale for $629, based on the reviews and the fact that I really wanted a new TV. I read about the buzzing thing but ignored it, thinking making it was the stand making the noise or something.
The TV was easy to set up. The picture was pretty good and perfect at 37-inches for my small living room. It seemed like a good entry level model. However, the buzzing was too much.
It wasn't too loud but for someone who is an audiophile like me, I could hear it easily. It made short waves of buzzing sounds when switching channels and when watching quieter programs - like "60 Minutes" or the news - the buzzing was really, really noticeable. During sports games and crime dramas or shows with music, it couldn't hear the buzzing.
I decided to return the TV the next day and buy the next level up but models around $1,000 were not available, unfortunately. The return, BTW, was easy enough. I put everything back into the box the way it came. The tech people took 15 minutes eyeing it for any problems and I was on my way.
I will continue to shop at Best Buy and will search [elusively?] for the perfect HDTV in my price range."

"Good television. Great picture quality at a very reasonable price. Sound is good too. Straightforward menus, ability to view in different modes to maximize the input source is nice. Did a lot of research before making this purchase. Sub $700 37" TV, this is best on the market. If purchasing at BestBuy, get them to price match Bestbuy.com. Paid $630 plus tax."

What's great about it: Picture is spectacular, menu and remote user friendly, east set up out of the box, nice stand
What's not so great: Have to adjust sound to high level when watching movies

"Great TV. Wanted the Samsung, but just couldn't justify the $200 more for it. Very, very happy with our choice of toshiba. First HDTV for us, so it is really a "wow" factor in our TV viewing. Only con I have is that I have to adjust the sound to a awfully high level when watching movies??? don't know why that is. Glad we went with the 37", nice size and doesn't overpower the room. Best Buy was great, I even found a price match and they honored it after our purchase within 7 days."
