What's great about it: Good print quality What's not so great: Wireless, REALLY noisy, pain to set up, doesn't stay connected to wireless
"I happened to be shopping for a printer on the day that the Kodak rep was there. I was leary of the Kodak anyway, because of past performance issues they had. He told me that they have improved since then. I guess he gets paid commission on what he convinces you to buy. I bought this printer with standard expectations, that ended up being too high. After eventually getting it to connect to my wireless router (Linksys), I had to install the software, which was not too bad, but trying to get the computer to detect the printer was a pain. I had to call their support center in India, talked to 2 different people that could almost speak english. (Why can't anyone hire Americans that need a job here to help?) I had to unistall the printer and reinstall it, then it detected it, stayed connected for about an hour or so, made 2-3 prints, went offline again, in the morning, it was connected again for a few minutes, then off again. When it did actuallly work, it sounded like the neighbors were remodeling. It was really noisy. I am sure if it was connected directly through the USB port, it would work better, but that isn't why I bought the wireless printer. I took it back after 24 hours, and bough the Canon MX820...SOOOOO much better, install was easier, and about 100dB's quieter. Too bad Kodak hasn't gotten it together yet, they have cheap ink."

What's great about it: Color pictures, scanner, WiFi, good price What's not so great: Noisy, a little slow
"What I like- The price is fair and the picture quality is very good. The ink dries quickly and the Kodak TruColor feature is also nice. When using the WiFi, it saves on the cost of purchasing a USB cable. The updates can be done wirelessly. The printer status is also monitored wirelessly and gives a status report each time it is turned on.
What I don't like- Sometimes the wireless connection is lost but this has only happened once or twice and isn't really a major issue. When one turns the printer on it is noisy, almost to the point it sounds like it is self-destructing. The printing process is a little slow but again, not a major issue. The printing quality is good so that compensates for the speed. The color ink does use up quickly, but not as fast as most of these reviews would lead one to believe.
Overall- Don't believe the negative hype. This is a good printer for the money. From past experience, most users don't know what they are doing with new technology and most issues come from user error rather than from the equipment. When one purchases this product, be sure to update the firmware. One would think this goes without saying, but it is a safe bet many consumer's problems are due to not reading the instructions and doing the 5 min update. As for the printer head, the manual states explicitly to not touch the metal part on the head. This is a safe purchase."
What's great about it: easy to set up, good price had a esp 3 this one much better What's not so great: nothing
"if you set your printer up for drafts then you save more on ink. i use to have a lexmark and the black and color ink cost me 60 some bucks and the printer only cost 29 bucks, this esp 7 beats that by miles if you set it up right. if your gonna print pictures all the time in color yes you will use more ink, that is for any printer, i have not set this up for wifi yet but will just used the usb first. am happy with it and i got it on the 50 dollar off trade in sale this week with an additional 50 dollars off . so it cost me 99 bucks plus tax. i have a lazer i use for most of my black ink print. and use them both."

What's great about it: Absolutely nothing What's not so great: Ink cartridges, Print head, Noise, Doesn't work!!!
"This printer is nothing but a headache and a pain in your wallet. You will need new ink every other time you print whether or not you print more than a few pages. I have printed approx 100 pages of black and white documents and have used 8 black cartridges and 4 color (you will use color ink when you don't print color). You will also receive constant error codes. DON'T waste your money"

What's great about it: Low cost initial purchse and ink What's not so great: Noisy
"As I professional photographer that prints only Kodak paper, I purchsed this little gem about two weeks ago. It is great for proofing for clients. The colors are good to excellent with no tweaking for color balance, etc. However, as this is a Kodak printer be prepared to use Kodak paper. Plain paper for business purposes is ok. Any other manuafacturer's photo paper does not get it, especially gloss. Had a lot of banding on gloss paper by another manufacturer. If you want low cost and are willing to stick with Kodak paper, this printer is actually quite good -so far."

What's great about it: Ink Cartridges are low in Cost What's not so great: Always something not working - Constant Maintenance
"I bought this printer because I was tired of the high cost of ink for my HP, which was only a year old when I decided to buy this printer. At the time it had great reviews. Who could pass up a printer that allowed you to print TWICE as many pictures as the average printer on 1 ink cartridge AND pay 1/2 of the price in ink as the average printer. I've had my printer 7 mos and I must say for the first 5.5 mos I have LOVED my printer. I use my printer alot, mostly for photos, but then one day my printer stopped printing corrected. My first ink cartridge literally lasted forever, I printed about 200 pictures on one set of ink cartridges, but then when I replaced both my black and color inks, they were empty after 8 prints. Figured it was due to faulty cartridges. Afterall, sometimes you just get a bad cartridge. So replaced the cartridges again. . .printer wouldn't print AT all. My scanner stopped working as well. We did maintenance after maintenance and nothing has worked. I'm fed up! What a disappointment. We've spent a lot of money to get these multiple problems fixed only to have the SAME problems! When our printer does print it is very light with huge spots of NO PRINT at all. And we've had the same problems as everybody else. . .being asked to replace a cartridge eventhough it was half full!"

What's great about it: Nothing is great about this printer. Waste of money What's not so great: Printer or Parts breaksdown and needs to be replaced, too much money spent on ink
"I have had this printer for 4 months. I use it for work sometimes, and printing cards and photos. I am on my third printer from Kodak. It keeps making new clunking noises, replaced for bad printerhead twice, plus it would not feed paper properly. It prints nice pictures for price, but the problems you have with this printer is not worth the aggrevation or cost of constantly having to replace color print cartridges that are 1/2 to 1/4 full because one of the colors ran out. I told Kodak how dissatisfied I was with this product and that I wanted my money back, but they would not let me do this, they would only send me another losey printer. This is the worst product have have ever bought. Save your money and look elsewhere for a printer."

What's great about it: scanner works well What's not so great: nothing else is good
"I would advise you not to buy this printer. The ink is cheap, but must be replaced every month, at least. Errors constantly appear, asking you to turn off and on. Many times errors appear citing jaming, while paper is placed perfectly in the tray. Also, when the ink gets low, it will not let you print at all. I needed to print something out for a class, but was absolutely stuck because it wouldn't let me print...the ink was only a month old, and I don't print a lot of stuff. Kodak advertises the low cost of ink, which is true. However, I am on pace to replace at a 5 to 1frequency ratio compared to my HP."

What's great about it: Inexpensive ink, wireless What's not so great: Buying inexpensive ink 3 times more often than other printers require, net savings ZERO
"This printer was a bad choice. Kodak touted that their ink prices save you money. Well, not in reality. I have found that the print heads are always requiring cleaning-first prints (after the printer sits a few days) always have "missing" areas of the printed document. I dont print a lot, but the cartridge replacement seems too often. The cartridge fill level is irrelevant, the printer goes off of a microchip the estimates the ink level and you may well be throwing away 1/2 full cartridges. I think that other manufacturers with ink prices nearing $50 is robbery, however, this is not the answer. Look elsewhere or pay a couple hundered dollars to print what equates to about 150-200 documents. Not exagerating or fooling around-this printer is a money pit."

What's not so great: Ink heads dry up before 1/4 of the ink is used, poor, poor color quality prints
"Ink heads dry up before 1/4 of the ink is used and color ink is calculated as being used when the printer is set to use black ink only/have thrown away 2 full black & 1 full color cartridges/produces absolutely awful color prints."

What's great about it: Great Price, Wireless Connectivity, low Cost per Page printing What's not so great: Noisier than most
"I read all the reviews on this site and others and it was either really good or really bad. I had to try this printer for myself. Bought printer form store rather that having it shipped. Printer came packaged extremely well. All paper trays, scanner lids, ink cartridge carriage were are strapped with tape to insure damage free delivery. Setup from opeing box to configuring on first Desktop PC was about 20 minutes. Used wireless connectivity to install printer. No problem attaching to our home network using 128-bit encr. with HEX security code entered into front control panel of printer. Installation of drivers was a snap directly from CD included with printer. Printed first picture within 20 minutes of opening box. I do not consider that to be too much. I am an IT professional who has worked with all printer technologies from the last 25 years. This printer does not require a lot of knowledge to setup. I am not sure what everyone is complaining about. Install pack looked for updated drivers and installed what it needed. Printer is a little noisier than most, but is the claims of Kodak that this printer will significantly same you on ink costs, I can pt up with a little noise. The Black/Color combo sells for $22. Compare that to the $56 I was spending on a combo for my Lexmark X1180. I think that this will be a fine printer for home. I would even consider it for a desk printer or small workgroup printer in an office. Nice job Kodak."

What's great about it: It makes decent copies What's not so great: Everything else
"In less then one months time since I bought this printer, I have had to replace both ink cartridges. I made a total of 5 copies with the thing. I have not even attempted to print a photo with it. I have managed to print 4 pages in one months time that actually came out clear, defined, neat and had everything on the page. The rest of the time I have wasted more then 30 pages of paper that have little parts of what was supposed to be printed on it. If I tried to print a page that had color and black in it, the color would come out faded and the black would not print at all. If I printed it as simply black and white then I would lose all the color and still not get a decent black ink print on the page. What good is a color printer that can't print all colors, including black, especially when black is one of the inks that comes in the color cartridge? I could live with having to manually put each and every part of the software in the trusted group of my Internet Security program just to get the system to recognize the printer, even though at first there was never an issue. I couldn't live with spending as much as I did on this printer and just not have it work. I for one am sending this back to the recycling bin and getting a real printer, one that actually does what its supposed to and that's actually print things when you want it to."

What's great about it: Price, easy to set up and use, intuitive menus, great software What's not so great: a tad bulky
"This printer was the easiest set up I have ever dealt with, even with using wireless connection. You can easily use all the features from the Kodak software or directly on the printer itself. I have scanned, copied, and printed effortlessly. My favorite feature, however, is the duplex printing! No more turning the pages around, it prints on both sides all by its self! Lovely!"

What's great about it: It's wireless What's not so great: Everything else
"Was so excited to purchase this printer after seeing the commercials. However, the printer goes through ink like it is water, you have to clean printheads every day, communication errors instruct you to unplug and restart printer, cycling takes forever, occasional errors indicate that there is no printhead installed so you must pull printhead out and reinstall and then must realign. In other words, I wish I had not purchased this product."

"Don't believe all these negative reviews! This printer works great and as advertised. The quality of the pics printed is excellent, and you don't have to worry about ink smearing - it's dry when it finishes printing! I had no trouble setting it up - I just followed the directions. I set it up for both direct USB connection and Wi-Fi - no issues so far. This is a great printer for photos and brochures! I am enjoying the savings on Ink!!!"

What's great about it: Nothing What's not so great: Print Quality, speed, noise, won't scan, paper jams, drops connection from my computer
"I am so disappointed with this printer. My son got it for Christmas 2008. The print quality is extremely poor, no contrast in colors. Had to print invitations for a family gathering, they came out so bad I ended up just going to KINKOS. It constantly drops the connection to my computer. It won't scan. The paper jams. It's loud. Do not recommend!"
