"What can one say about reviewing the iPhone 3G. Firstly, everyone agrees that Apple "Just Got It Right" with the iPhone. They've managed to combine cutting edge graphic technology into a small flash memory driven device with no moving parts that is sensitive to touch, light, movements & even location.
The iPhone 3G is by far the best cell phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Yes, some complain of the price. But they end up buying & loving it.
Every user agrees it's worth it's pot of gold. Now that the Apps Store is on it, the standard iPhone features are just the beginning. Developers across the world are adding new Apps that aren't expensive at all (many free) which expand functionality beyond comprehension.
I for one believe that this phone actually has & will change mankind, more than the Treo or BlackBerry has.
BlackBerry & Treo are great for Business, but who has no room for entertainment and fun in their life as well? Well, the iPhone 3G combines the two by offering Microsoft Exchange Support (amongst every other email protocol) as well as a built-in iPod with Video & speakers.

It isn't possible not to like this phone. You can be a complete computer moron and love the thing. I for one am a software developer and can't even begin to start on my love for the phone.

So, why 4 stars? People complain about the non-replaceable battery. I don't. What other phone manufacturer will replace a phone in warranty with a poor battery with a brand new phone?? My only complaints to date are shorter battery life (but not terrible) if both 3G & Microsoft Exchange (or other push driven email) are enabled. The solution? Get an extra charger / car charger. Other complaint to date is the lack of Copy & Paste. Many also complain of the lack of Multimedia Messaging capabilities.

That's about it. But to be fair, I did feel that those are two huge flaws which deserved 1 star off from perfection.

Bottom Line: Would I recommend you go buy one? Yes. I'd tell you to get your spouse one too."

"This phone is amazing. I have had every carrier, and practically every phone. This phone is deffinantly the best i've ever used. It's so much fun to play with, it even gets you past those boring work hours! The app store is really cool with lots of FREE apps, and the iPod on it makes it so convienent to have both a phone and an iPod in one! Way to go Apple!!"

"Three major cons to this device are: "The Battery Life", "You don't technically need 16 GB but it's nice to have", and "Accessories."

The Battery life if your lucky will last a full 16 hours if your using the iPod Feature. That's only because it's dimming your screen- If your using full color for that 16 hours drop it to 8 or even 4 and that's your battery life.

The 16 GB feature is nice, but there applications on the store which let the 8 GB models optimize your home computer as a peer-to-peer network, to share your music wireless. So you technically don't even need a hard-drive just a cell phone signal. Though this con is also a perk, because I can store a lot more videos and applications on the phone.

My real peeve however is this... A lot of accessories for the iPhone even certified ones constantly want to put my phone in "Airport Mode" and say "This isn't a valid iPhone Device." though it's working and charging, cause it clearly is. But once you hit the "No Button" the accessory works like it's supposed to.

But for the Pro's... It does what Apple does best, integrate a sleek appearance with a power house of innovation. The online App Store has such a variety of useful and useless products that it can meet every need you want...

In addition to that the faster browser is really sweet, plus the new push technology lets it become a work phone as well as a non-work phone.

In addition it seems over whelming at first, but it's incredibly easy to use... It visually guides, and helps you do whatever you need.

In addition the Speaker phone works better, the size fits nicer in your hands... The screen keep it'self clean and well illuminated.

So... If you looking for a phone that looks appealing and has a range of accessories to make it your own. Choose an iPhone.

If your looking for a phone that has an array of software applications and can think outside the box... iPhone all the way."

"I personally upgraded from the original 2G iPhone and I can say that it was definitely worth the switch. The 3G has a much better feel in your hand as opposed to the earlier models. The 16GB option is far sufficient for most people and leaves plenty of room for apps, music, photos, etc.. 3G is better than the Edge network but not quite amazing. Amazing selection of downloadable applications via the App Store (both free and purchased).
Overall, as a longtime fan of Apple products, the iPhone 3G does not disappoint. If you are on the fence about upgrading or switching to the iPhone, I would highly recommend doing so."

What's great about it: Touch screen is one of the smoothest and very user friendly interface.
What's not so great: Require 2yrs Contract. Your finger might be too big for the tiny screen.

"Wow I as not an Apple person at all and don't like the ipod since the first launch but this changes my mind on Apple.
1. This touch screen is the best in the mobile industry. Smooth and very responsive. A feature that no other phone has match Apple.
2. Email alert is sweet feature.
3. itunes store has tons of apps for everyone. Game, productivity, maps, etc...
4. iphone 3g (white) doesn't show too much smudges compare to the black. That's why I choose this one.

2yrs contract. Included tax and such $80/m include unlimited internet usage, 450 anytime min with 5000 night/weekend and rollover. Not bad of a plan but the Data Plan did not include "Text Messaging" you pay extra for it. First bill is $128.59 for activation and such.

Given you pay this much/month. The phone should be cheaper. Other than the contract and contract price, this phone is a must have. There's always something for you to do with this phone."

What's great about it: Easy to use, the add on Apps are incredible, smart sensors!
What's not so great: Battery life, no video record capabilities, no way to forward txt messages.

"I have been using the phone for about 2 weeks now and its a 95% perfect phone! Its easy to use, the screen is bright and more clear than anything on the market today, and the App store is surprisingly filled with many useful and fun to use programs. I have downloaded around 50 different games, and applications for just about everything from grocery lists, unit conversions, incline meters, and photo enhancement tools. The interfaces into everyday websites such as myspace, ebay, craigslist and face book are a breeze, and in many ways easier to just see whats going on with friends, and auctions with just a few clicks. It doesnt get into setting up your profiles as easily, but thats what your PC is for. The GPS tracking is very accurate, even indoors, where it asumes your location via cell towers, and will even track where you have taken your photos. Of course every great device is still going to have its downfalls and the iPhone doesn't escape this. The phone battery life can easily get you through a full day even when its used for surfing the net and watching youtube videos, but its at its end by the time bedtime rolls around. Again this is with very heavy use. The Phone lacks a video capture mode which I was very surprised by. It does not allow you to copy and paste text from messages, internet, or any other form of text on the phone. The phone also does not allow you send picture text or allow to forward your text messages. (I hope they fix this with future patches). You can send picture via e-mail. Other than those few annoyances, there is not much I can say that would put this phone below a 95% satisfaction rate. I hope this helps!"

"I'm a cell phone junkie. My first generation iPhone was great (until I thought there was something wrong with the headphone jack--but discovered its an Apple thing with the jack not always catching that it's plugged in when you're waiting for someone to answer when you call out) and I swapped it out for a couple of other first gens. Sold that one and now have this one. Love the different weight and feel. Don't care for the garbage-y 3g technology that has gotten a little bit better. Still occasionally drop calls.. but not as frequently as before the latest software update. However, phone works good and is easy for almost anyone to do tasks with, download music, make ringtones or whatever else you want to do. AT&T is a pretty good provider as well, excluding the bumps with the 3g. Fix that problem and would be the best combo ever!"

Great upgrade! 09/15/2008

What's not so great: new +$10 plan

"Overall the phone is the old 2g phone, but seems to run a little smoother.

The phone is much lighter and supports stereo blue tooth for my headphones! The speaker phone is clearer.
The internet speed on my first gen phone was on average 114kbs, and the current 3g has 244kbs so the speed is definitely noticeable.

The battery life seems just as well as the first gen and there is the option to shut off the 3g to extend life further.
I recommend purchasing the iphone from best buy for 2 reasons:
1. You have the option to get the geek squad accidental damage warranty! A no brainer!
2. You can use your reward zone card to get points!"

nearly perfect...and getting better all the time 09/13/2008

What's great about it: Internet, applications, e-mail, ease of use, the look, organization, iPod/phone combo, EVERYTHING!
What's not so great: scratchability

"If you like having all the information and entertainment you'll ever need in the form of a sleek little pocket device, it's the iPhone 3G, no contest.
If it's not enough to have an iPod, a mobile phone with internet and e-mail, plus a whole bunch of handy applications in the palm of your hand, then you've also got GPS working with Google maps, a killer calculator, an easy-to-use calendar, and up-to-date weather and stocks as well.
And how can you think it's not worth the money...? It's way cheaper to get everything you need with the iPhone than buying a Blackberry or some other smartphone, plus a portable music device.
I recommend a screen protector, specifically the Power Support films (Apple) or the Zagg invisibleSHIELD (Best Buy), so you can protect the iPhone from scratches and still see its slick-looking form.
One of the best things about the iPhone is that Apple is always improving it. You update its software through iTunes, which fixes and improves its performance.
I really can't say anything bad about the iPhone, because I really have no complaints. I had the original 8GB iPhone in 2007, and now I have the 16GB version of the 3G and I love it. I live in Manhattan, but travel a bit. The GPS is always there to guide me. I can always check my e-mail with just a tap, there's even an application that let's me check the NYC subway info and service advisories while I'm on the train underground with no signal!
I recommend checking out iTunes to see all the amazing FREE and cheap applications for the iPhone. For example, Shazam uses iPhone's phone microphone to listen to music (on the radio, in a restaurant, etc.) and then it tells you the song, artist, a link to purchase the song from iTunes, etc. And there's hundreds of these applications!
And I almost forgot to mention the camera! I have three degrees in visual arts, and yes, I am impressed with the little 2.0 megapixel camera on the iPhone. I've even foregone my Sony digital SLR for most photos, just because I know the iPhone takes great crystal clear, true-color pictures. Plus, they look fantastic on the 3.5" inch screen. Great resolution. I've attached a photo of the Statue of Liberty that I took with the iPhone. See what I mean?
For music and movies, you will love the iPhone. If you know how to decode and recode movies (Best Buy sells the software..."123 Copy DVD"), then you can upload all of your DVD collection to iTunes and format to your iPhone. It's easier than it sounds, and BANG, you've got music, movies and TV shows wherever you go. Nothing else can do that.
So, in closing, GET IT, you will not regret it. In fact, you'll wonder why it took you so long to get one in the first place and how you could ever live without it."

What's great about it: Ease of use, multi-functionality, beauty, price, list goes on forever
What's not so great: could have a little better battery life but new update should improve that

"I am telling you that you cannot get a better product for $299 ever. This is not a phone, it is a laptop in your pocket. The only thing it can't do is print. I can read the constitution, the complete works of Shakespeare, send and read all my emails and surf the internet from the palm of my hand. Don't even get me started on the amazing games they will have available in the near term. This phone is revolutionary and it is just amazing. Sure the battery could last longer, but the battery on my laptop lasts 3 hours and the phone has a much smaller battery and I can't fit my laptop in my pocket. I can nitpick about the top of the line Mercedes, BMW and Lexus but it doesn't mean they aren't the best.
Some small issues, but if you are a responsible adult with a modicum of technical ability, you can't pass up this phone. You just can't."

"Alot of people are against this phone due to so many faulty features. A laggy keyboard at times, random program crashes, and long sync times. I've come across all these problems, but they are only minor annoyances. Alot of the problems can be solved with a quick restart of your phone. Other than that this is an incredible phone! A very large amount of features, and more to buy or get for free from the App store. I'm a big fan of the free games, you should check them out."

"use this phone for a whole month, found that had many problems for my liking, because this motive is very closed with everything up with the music. I am a friend recommended a samsung omnia that this is a marvel of mobile in comparison with this iphone 3gtouch can be very unsuccessful at times, mobile heats far the battery is a pity very bright, the phone microphone is not
