What's not so great: Picture quality
"When we decided to purchase a 46" tv, we had a budget and wanted to get the best reviewed tv for $1000. This tv had all the features my husband wanted, was well reviewed and within the budget. We picked up the tv and got it set up. I wasn't really impressed with the picture quality. The definition and clarity I had expected from an HDTV just wasn't there. And the colors were so dull. So my husband found some recommended settings for color online and made the adjustments. A little better but still just blah to me. I just wasn't loving it, and I'm not going to spend $1000 and not be happy with my purchase. So, back it went. We ended up with a Samsung 46" and LOVE it. The color is vibrant and the image quality is amazing, & best of all, it was on sale (in-store) for the same price as the Aquos."

What's great about it: Great color, easy setup, great sound What's not so great: screen life
"I bought this tv just over 1 year ago & along the top of my screen it looks like I've hung Christmas ornaments. It's not so noticeable on darker shots but if it goes to a light screen color you can see shadows along the top of the screen. I tried to clean them off but it's in the screen not on it. Warranty is up so I just get to look at it....Wish I would've waited til these came down in price - $1400 at the time for a 42"!"

What's great about it: Everything What's not so great: I'll let you know when I find it.
"I've had the TV for about three months now and can't complain a bit. I watch mostly sports and they all look magnificent on this set. I researched the marketplace for quite a while before I bought the 46" Sharp. It was a breeze for me to set up and the Directv guy who came to do HD upgrade was also quite helpful. I got a Sony blu-ray and surround sound system at the same time and the whole home theater system cost me right around $1,500 before taxes."

"The very moment I watched a movie on this set I noticed something that would bug me the entire time. The backlight is sort of strange. When there's a dark scene the backlight will get too dark and you can barely see anything on screen. I, personally, don't like automatically adjusting backlights.
Also, while watching a DVRed show (and fast-forwarding through the commercials), the screen will sometimes cut to black, as if the signal was cut off. I guess this is an Energy Star "feature", but it's quite annoying."

What's great about it: Picture is Clear, Does not produce much heat. What's not so great: Im getting fat from always wanting to watch TV
"I have had this TV for 2 weeks now and I love it. Everyone who has come over to see it wants one. I have looked around for a TV for a while and I believe, this is by far the best for the price. It does take like 2 seconds to turn on but you dont even notice. Unless your in a dire emergency to turn on your tv for some reason its not a problem. Its easy to hook up and use if you have cox, they send you the HD box with everything you need, so there is no need to buy the hdmi cables. and it comes with about 40 hd channels."

"This is a great tv. I sent back a LG because it had audio problems. for $100 more this is definitely a better buy. It has great picture and the best soun i ever heard out of a lcd tv. you actually do not need to have the home theater system on when watching tv shows to have good quality sound. This is a great tv and i would reccomend it to everyone. My cousin likes it better than her $1700 samsung and its way better than the tv i had before."

What's great about it: the picture, the picture, the picture. What's not so great: the remote is a foot long
"We have had this tv for about 3 months now and it is stuning. The delivery guys were in a hurry but did hook it up to the cable service and got it working but it still didn't look right. Found out you have to get a special hd box from the cable company at 7 bucks a month but it was worth it.Football and golf are better than being there.I'm so happy with this tv I could just scream. We were a little worried buy not getting a Sony or Sumsung but those fears are laid to rest after watching this Sharp. We just smile at each other when we watch it.It's great."

What's great about it: Picture quality and sound What's not so great: takes a few seconds for the video and audio to come on, but well- worth the buy
"Very easy to set up, got it for $999 around 10//12009. I bought the HDMI cables and have service with Comcast, including their HD package. The quality is phenominal, and I thought the 46 inch for $999 was a great deal. I bought the 4yr service plan, and if the quality stays as perfect as it is now, I'll be happy. The 4yr service plan was about $179, and the HDMI cables were about $60.
The built-in speakers are pretty good. I have a large great room with tall ceilings and football/TVl still sounds great.
I had my eye on this TV for about 2 months or so, and I noticed the price was going up and down between $1097 and $999... so keep an eye on the sale price if you do by it for $1097 because they give the difference back to you if it goes down within 30 days"

What's great about it: It has been a great TV, good quality picture for football and blu-ray, plenty of hookups What's not so great: Nothing of note
"I've had this TV for a little over 10 months, it's been everything I've wanted from it. At the time I bought it 120hz was the best available and watching football in HD was worth it. I have not used it heavily, but I've had my computer hooked up through s-video, vga, hdmi, and dvi with no problems. It was hooked up to my computer so I could stream netflix movies and send the picture to the TV, worked great! I bought a Sharp blu-ray player with this TV, I like that the remote works for both, one less remote to keep near."

What's great about it: Easy set up, disabled the auto contrast and now picture looks perfect. What's not so great: Nothing.
"The picture quality and sound quality are great. I disabled some auto features, like the auto contrast, and the picture is perfect now. The sports look great with no blurring. Picture is crystal clear. Description says 2 bottom mount 15watt speakers, but the Owners manual specifications say 10 watt speakers. Would have gave sound quality a 5 if not for this. It doesn't matter to me because the sound is great, I never turn it up more than half way. Excellent choice for the money. Highly recommend this tv."

What's great about it: As far as the picture sound and features everything What's not so great: As far as the TV in general it takes a few seconds to power on.
"This is a great HDTV for a great price. i purchased mine in February of 2009 to replace my main 32"LCD TV for a bigger one and put the 32 in our bedroom. let me just say its been the best upgrade I've done in a while!! i bought this when they were having the buy the Aquos TV get a free Aquos Blue ray player free deal and figured i couldn't pass it up. the Images are sharp and i have the sound going through our surround sound so there's no need for the TV speakers, although it doesn't sound bad when you do run the built in speakers. all in all i would give this TV 5* the only thing i didn't like was how long it takes to power on but i can live with that!!!"

Great Service from Best Buy07/26/2009
By Matt35325from Modesto
What's great about it: Cheap, good picture What's not so great: occassional "Banding" in HD
"I bought the Sharp AQUOS 46" 120 HZ just about a month ago. I primarily chose Best Buy because I needed someone to carry out my dead 36" CRT. My purchase experience was wonderful. The "fine print" of the "free delivery" said Best Buy would unpack the TV, connect the stand, and place it where I needed it, and carry out 1 TV set. The fine print was fairly specific that they would not connect any cables or attempt to make the TV work. I got more than I expected from the delivery service and I'm very pleased.
TV Quality I've been view this TV daily for a month. After reading many reviews on different sets, I settled on this TV mainly for the price and what I understood to be decent quality except for "Vertical Banding" that may have been resolved by this model. There are supposedly no bells and whistles (I'm not missing anything). I am happy with the set, but I am not picky. I have noticed horizontal banding (never saw any vertical banding) on about 5 out of 80 Comcast HD channels. Basicallly, the top line of the screen becomes scrambled. It is annoying, but I'll switch back to low def if it bothers me. Other than that, it's been fantastic. The colors are great, the blacks are better than I've seen on other LCDs, but not Plasma, and definitely not the LED hybrid that Samsung has right now (07/2009). The image is sharp, the motion blur is very minimal (more than I hoped for from a 120 Hz TV), but not as bad as I noticed on other LCDs. The viewing angle is only good for about 60 degrees, after that it's pretty bad. My kitchen is on the side of the family room, so it's annoying watching TV from the kitchen. Up close (1-3 feet away), the TV doesn't look good. However, it looks fantastic from 12 feet away. It's also great whether I'm standing looking down, sitting looking straight at it, or lying on the floor looking up. The viewing angle only seems to be a problem side to side, and only beyond 60 degrees.
I did have a concern about calibration. I read many reviews where Samsung had a Store/Home setting, people were very happy about the Home setting. I didn't read about a similar feature for Sharp. I don't know if it's new, but when you first turn on this specific model, it gives you the option of Store/Home. The set up crew (more on that later) selected "home", the colors looked fantastic. I had Calibration settings from CNET and TweakMyTV.com (both different, incidently, and both recommended professional calibration). I decided not to play around with the settings and go with the default home setting. Note: there is also a game setting.
The DVD (not Blu-Ray) picture quality is exceptional. The HD is exceptional (note 1080i, or basically 720p). The normal cable channels are good. I was able to configure my Comcast DVR remote for this TV (although it took about 4 tries doing the same thing, the 4th try seemed to do the trick, I have no idea what I did differently).
Service Quality The Best Buy shopping experience exceeded my expectations. The first visit was no-pressure and very informative. The second visit was low-pressure. I was expecting a bunch of cross-selling which I got: Extended Warranty, Premium Warranty (I forgot what they called it, but it included Calibration for more than the price of calibration & extended warranty combined, but they said they'd re-calibrate after each service visit), Up-Convert DVD players, power supplies, and a few other add-ons I can't remember. I held my ground and just stuck to the TV. While there was some pressure, the sales person was much more low key than what I've experienced at other stores. Best Buy set a delivery date for 4 days later. I was negatively surprised at how long that would take (been spoiled with next day delivery).
3 days later, Best Buy called with a time and a 4 hour window. I was home 15 minutes before that time expecting to wait 4 hours or more, they should up exactly on time. They carried out my old TV, quickly and cleanly unpacked my new TV, set it up on the stand, placed it where I wanted it, then plugged in my cable box, VCR/DVD player daisy chain, and my stereo (Best Buy said that wasn't included). They turned on the TV, set the "home" setting, verified it connected to the cable box and a DVD could play. They asked if everything looked good, I said it was wonderful. I requested to keep the box, they were happy to leave it behind (they were ready to take it away). They were out of my house 15 minutes after arriving knowing the TV worked. I was very pleased with the delivery service.
I had one other concern about buying this TV: a drop in price after I bought it. My CRT died 2 weeks before July 4th. I decided to wait until July 4th to buy it to take advantage of potential sales. The weekend before July 4th, the price dropped $100. I read about the 30 day best price match (which included Best Buy dropping the price). I decided to take the risk and purchase it a week earlier figuring I'd go for the price match if there was a sale. There wasn't. However, 4 weeks later (i.e. 29 days...and the day I"m writing this review), the price dropped another $100. I verifed it was not a close out price, verified the model number on my receipt matched the model number on the advertisement, then took the receipt and the ad to the store. I expected a hassle since I read online other people had problems with Best Buy not honoring their price match. The hassle didn't happen for me. The customer service lady was very nice and quickly gave me $106 credit on my card (it was actually a $98 price difference and about $8 in sales taxes).
In a nutshell: I'm very happy with the Best Buy experience and reasonably pleased with the TV. However, I'm not a video or audiophile. Nor do I have a lot of other equipment to connect."

What's great about it: Great picture, SUPER easy to setup, looks great on games, even digital cable (not set up with HD cable yet) What's not so great: Nothing really, it's a bit hard to place in a midsized car
"Bought this from Best Buy after comparing it a few hours with similar Samsung/Sony/LG. Sharp AQUOS has great constrast, and its ratio is calculated diff from the others. It may not be able to beat the contrast level of 100,000 but for its price, the Sharp is by far the best quality. Not to mention, it was easy to set up, and it has tons of great features, 5 HDMI, 120 HZ (great for gaming), while other competitors for that price are mostly at 60HZ.
Picture quality is really nice in my room setup, it is also great with sound unless you're one of those die-hard fanatics) for my humble, quiet neighborhood the sound goes well loud enough for me. Don't even have FIOS or HD cable, but the digital channels look great. Just a great buy, you really can't go wrong with SHARP AQUOS unless you're really looking for fine detail and then maybe SAMSUNG will be your better choice, but at a steeper price."

What's great about it: Great Picture What's not so great: Small Speakers
"I purchased this tv in March and wanted to wait to write a review. I have to say that this is a wonderful tv! The picture is very crisp and there is no "pixel/picture lag" since it is 120 HZ. I also own a 2 year old Sharp 60 Hz and there is no comparison! I am thinking about purchasing this tv again to replace the 60 HZ. I also love that it is just about glare free. I have this tv in a huge living room with lots of windows and glare is no problem. I highly recommend this tv to anyone looking for a great tv at a great price."

What's great about it: looks, set up, tremendous price What's not so great: nothing
"Well we had a 65 series for 38 days and we were very happy with it. Than I walked into our local Best Buy to purchase a digital camera and what do I see the 85 series on sale for just over 20 dollars more than what we pay for our 65 so beacuse of the great silver reward program I was able to come home pack the 65 in her box and return it. We are sooo happy the 85 series is the same tv just add 120 hz. we have been using it for a couple of days and the motion blury is non excistance. The 5 hdmi and 2 components mean that you can install anything you have for example we have wii, ps3, bose system, direct tv and comcast. and it is a breeze to go from one system to the next. We owned 3 Samsung lcd's and 3 Sharps lcd's and they all have been a great investment ( all purchase at Best Buy). One last thing you can edit the name of the system you are installing, it makes it easy for everyone to find what they want to use (wii, direct tv, ps3, etc,) If you can find one don't think it twice and bring it home you wont regret it."
