What's great about it: Picture sharpness
What's not so great: when close picture becomes very grainy
"I purchased this TV to replace an older CRT TV which had began to break it is awesome after some minor tweaking. There is only one major con when being close to the TV it becomes very grainy and a little bit blurry. But i love the TV it is one of the best i have ever owned. The remote is also great for other components so you don't have to use multiple remotes."

What's great about it: great picture and lots of features
What's not so great: Sound isn't the greatest...
"I purchased this TV about 3 months ago on sale for $450 and so far have had no problems at all. It has a great picture and the built in HD/digital tuner is great for the new DTV switchover. The only thing I wasn't so impressed with was the sound quality, it's not horrible, but not all that great either. There are a few adjustments you can make with the bass and trebel to get a decent setting, luckily I have a surround sound system. There are plenty of inputs for a variety of multimedia components, as well as lots of great features like REGZA link, a half-mute feature, and a variety of screen cropping settings. Overall this is a great product at a great price."

"I purchased the TV about 2 months ago. So far, am satisfied with my purchase. The picture quality is good, colors are nice. I like the ability to adjust the screen size to fit different movies your watching. The sound is good, I wish it was better. For me, I feel that the speakers are not loud enough but the quality of the sound is great.
One has to be careful because the TV can get scratches easily."

Better sound than the Samsung LN32B360

What's great about it: Great picture, better sound than the Samsung LN32B360, More inputs too!
What's not so great: I have only had it for a week now and I can’t think of anything at the moment.
"I read the reviews for this Toshiba 32AV502R, the Samsung LN32B360 and Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000.
I went to BB, played with all of the settings and decided to buy the Samsung. It looked better in the store than the others.
When I set it up at home, I was really disappointed with the sound quality! I have it sitting on a TV stand in a corner, so there is a lot of space behind it.
The Samsung and Sony both have speakers that fire from the bottom of the TV. At home, the sound bounced from the bottom and then to the back into the corner. This makes the sound muddy and scrambles the balance so I couldn't tell left from right.
There is also no bass to the speakers. When you turned up the volume, it would buzz and rattle the chassis. The sound quality was unacceptable for the price you pay for any Television.
The Toshiba has speakers that fire from the front and in my case sound far better than the Samsung did. The bass and treble sound crisp and clear. No case rattling.
I like the picture and so far I am very happy with my new choice!"

Horrible LCD TV!!!

What's great about it: The price was good
What's not so great: Im on my second set and I bought it at the end of May.
"Where to start? Best Buy is a great store and the sales staff and customer service is great; however the tv is by far the worse I have ever owned. The price was great bought it for 450 bucks and received a 25 dollar gift card. I was sattisfied with my purchase the first couple of days but then it started loosing pixels and signals? I thought maybe its my hd/dvr box and had my cable company come out and check the signal that was not the problem. Then one of the colorstream hd components whould not even work (I checked with 2 other working devices). I took it back where there was no problem swapping it out for another one; like I said Best Buy=great customer service. Long story short the second set not even 3 weeks later has a black light bleed at the bottom of the set wow? Thanks Toshiba you just inspired me never to buy your products ever again. However I would like to thank Best Buy for allowing me to swap it out for a 2nd time and allowing me to swap it out for the Samsung LN32B360 which I know will preform to my needs for a decent bedroom set from first hand experience with that same model in the 22inch size that I own."

Beware of Toshiba TVs!

What's great about it: While it worked it was great.
What's not so great: No picture, just sound.
"15 months past the manufactured date on the back of the TV and it went black. No picture, just sound. I called the authorized repair shop and was told this is common with this model. He was currently working on one with the same problem. Toshiba says it's past the 1 year warranty so I am out of luck.
I cannot recommend Toshiba televisions."

What's great about it: Picture Quality.
What's not so great: Everything else.
"Got it from Bestbuy when it was on sale for $449. Exchanged it for a Panasonic 32" TC-L32X1 within 2 weeks of purchase.
Why? Let's see..
1. Picture blacks out randomly. Have to switch it off and then back on to get the picture back.
2. Poor Sound Quality.
3. Dead Pixel within a week of purchase.
4. Picks up dust pretty fast. Wierd, I know.
Expected much better from Toshiba. For the price, I would have compromised on sound and dust had it not been for the picture black out and the dead pixel problem."

What's great about it: Stunning picture
What's not so great: a little pricey, but worth the extra cost.
"This TV was a bit more expensive than some of the others in the store, but the image is great and the ability to quickly switch from half a dozen video display types is great!! When watching a wide screen program on cable, I can quickly increase the picture to fill the entire screen eliminating the black bars above and below, or better yet zoom in even more getting a closer larger image of the central display. It's great and switching back to SQUARE more is just another couple of quick clicks. This is how I would have designed it!! Great Value and great HD image on DVD's!!"

"I bought this TV about 9 months ago. I love it. Picture quality was superior to other TVs and it still works perfectly, that's with my kids and cat abusing it on a daily basis. I had a Sony prior to this, it wasn't an LCD but it dies in about 1.5 yrs and the one before than also a Sony died in about 2 yrs."

What's great about it: Picture is great in SD mode w/ factory settings.
What's not so great: S-Video overrides Composite Video Input
"Brought it home and within literally 2 minutes was watching crystal clear TV.
I went with the Toshiba because, I had such good luck w/ my previous 35" Toshiba CRT. It served me well for over 17 years!
I currently have it hooked up to my non-HD Sat Receiver. But, the picture quality is phenomenal with the factory default settings.
The one gripe I have is that the input selector does not allow you to switch between S-Video and Composite 1 (rear input). S-Video actually overrides Video 1. Can't see why they removed such a basic feature. Now I can't watch my TV while listening to my tunes :(
Oh, well guess I'll need to upgrade to HD at some point now.
I also like the composite input on the side (although I'd prefer the front even more). This allows for easy hookup of my kids video games and the camcorder.
I can't really comment on the sound quality as I use my AVR speakers for sound.
So far I'm very pleased w/ the product. Just hope it is as loyal as my previous Toshiba."

What's great about it: Easy to set up, great for Xbox 360
What's not so great: Controller feels cheap, one screw for base didn't seem to align correctly
"I bought this TV for $449 on sale at my local Best Buy, and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. I got same-day delivery, even though I purchased it at 6PM and the TV was easy to set up. The TV has a good number of connections available in the back, and has 2 hdmi ports. The TV displays standard-definition channels well, and high definition video looks great on it.
I primarily bought this for Xbox 360 gaming, and I was blown away at the quality of the picture. I fired up Call of Duty: World at War as soon as set up the TV, and the picture is crisp with deep blacks that grant me great vision in--game. Just remember to configure your Xbox 360 to 720p, as it seems to default to 1080i.
My only complaint is that the sound could be better when getting audio from my cable box. To be fair, the signal is coming through a regular coaxial cable, but it could be louder and richer. The sound coming through from the Xbox 360, however, is amazing. Also, the Best Buy employee who sold me the TV also sold me a $70 HDMI cable that I ended up not needing, but that's not a complaint against the TV. Just be sure to know what type of connection your cable box uses (component/S-Video vs. HDMI)."

"I purchased the TV for my bedroom about 1 month ago. Overall, it's a great tv. I have Direct TV and with the remote you have to push the button to right to the TV mode to turn it off and when you want to change a channel you have to move the button back to the Direct TV mode. I have a Sony TV that has Direct TV and ONE button controls everything. I called Direct TV to ensure the remote was programmed correctly and was advised Yes. I was advised that TV's are programmed differently. Toshiba should really consider upgrading that feature. I should have returned the TV."

What's great about it: Picture
What's not so great: Picture sometimes goes out, may not be compatible with PS3 update 2.70
"I brought this Toshiba due to gaming response feature and the 1080i picture for $599.97. And it look well spent when playing with Xbox360 and the cable (without the cable box) got all the chanels in the area in HD.
But after awhile of viewing the TV would sometimes black out while still on. I would turn off and on the TV to get the screen to show picture and sure enough it came back on. The the problem would persist every once awhile. When I hooking up my new PS3 I encountered problems when using HDMI cables, I would get a flashing Snow Screen when playing movies and sometimes games. I couldn't tell if it was the PS3 or the Toshiba 32AV502U or the HDMI cable. I returned the PS3 to Best Buy with another PS3 and the flashing screen popped up again. I switch HDMI cable same problem. I called Toshiba and they said it might be a firmware that's needed even though I told them it was up to date with 2.70. I complained about the black out screen and they said it could (could? I brought it less than 3 months ago) be under the warranty but if not they would charge for service call.
Lucky I brought the TV with extended 4 warranty with best buy. I but don't know whether to send to Toshiba or Best Buy first."

"I got the TV Home, installed it and began to tweak it, about 10 minutes into this the sound had a lot of static in it. I turned the TV off and back on again, sound was fine, about another 10 minutes past by and the picture went out. I then turned it back on and nothing happened, so I waited about 15 minutes and turned it back on and it came on. But after about a few minutes the picture went out again. It kept doing this so I boxed it back up carried it back, put back my old crt tv. I was very dissapointed. Maybe it was just a bad board but I think I will wait till the new LED tv's come down in price and then retry."

What's great about it: Easy set up, quality picture, quality sound

"After a poor experience with a non brand name lcd TV(if it's not a quality brand name don't expect to easily find replacement inverter boards or power supplies) I took the time to research in depth. After hours of Consumer reports research I was down to Panasonic, Toshiba, and Sony. As this was a quick replacement for my failed TV I was pressed into the Toshiba due to the stores available stock. Easy set up up, good assortment of connections. Overall very happy."
