The only weak point is the foot pedal.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, price was reasonable for what we got
Bought the wired set and once I saw how much of a hassle it was going to be, I returned them and bought these. I knew that the wireless ones were what I had wanted all along. Way easy to learn to play, way cool and tons of fun we are having..for the young and old folks....

What's great about it: it's basically a real drum set and is awesome. i'm highly critical.
What's not so great: pads get worn out. the sticks are cheap/ the accesories with rubber caps fall off.
ive played 1000s of songs on it. pads eventualy get worn on but work fine. some times youhave to re tighten the allne bolts. i wishit came with a DOUBLE BASS PEDAL for expert mode. waaayyy better than the cheap set. totaly worth the money.

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: $$$ but worth it!
What a great set! No dropped notes, set up as you want it - vey versatile!!! The sound is excellent and kick pedal is great. It took a few days to "tweak" the drum pads to exactly where I wanted them. There really is NO comparison to the drums that ae bundled with rock band. Also these drums also compatible with GH World Tour. It took a few days to get to used to where the pads were but well worth it. Friend asked me what the differnce was - like the difference between a toy truck and a real one. If you love music BUY THEM!!!

What's great about it: much more durable than stock drum sets, works with guitar hero world tour and rock band 2

this is a great buy, even though it is really expensive. even though it says rock band 2 on the box, i use it solely for GT:WT. it worked straight out of the box. this drum set is much more durable than the stock gt:wt drums, which broke for me 4 times. and another great thing about this drum set it that it is completely adjustable. you can move all the drum around and set it up however you like it. and even though it's tedious to set up, its worth it. just make sure you open all the boxes first, because the wrench to tighten all the screws is in the same box as the 360 module (and i didn't know that, so i struggled with tightening the bolts for about 20 minutes). but overall great drum set, loads of fun, and really worth the buy!!

What's great about it: Solid thump, unlike the Rockband 2 drum kit
What's not so great: Kick pedal is very loud. Drum kit not so stable on carpeting. A bit pricey for what you get.
Overall, it's a solid beginner drum kit but one must remember that even with a midi brain (sold seperately) it's still a toy and does not have all the features of a true drum kit. But if one wants to experiment with drumming before jumping in and buying a real substantial drum kit this is probably the way to go.
It's not very stable on carpeting, that is to say, it wont fall over but it does have a tendancy to wobble when on carpeting but is rock solid on hard flooring surfaces.
As mentioned it doesn't come with a midi brain to use it as a true drum kit, so you'll be spending an additional $150ish for one of those if you want to play it away from the Rockband games, which just makes it seem like the manufacturer was being cheap, I mean for $300.00 I would honestly expect it to have the midi brain included
The Rockband 1 drums are very loud and tinny sounding when you hit them, the Rockband 2 drums are slightly better and less tinny, the Ion drum rocker kit has a nice deep thump when you hit on them, which is much more pleasing to the ear.
Other than asthetics, I see little reason to purchase one of these without the midi brain, it doesn't add anything to the Rockband 2 drum kit other than the cymbals, which you don't even need to use, and which you can buy from Madcatz for your stock drum controller for about $40, and while it does have more bounce to it, and a deeper thump noise when you hit the drums, as far as the game is concerned it might as well be the same controller. And keep in mind that it is a USB device, so it is NOT wireless like the Rockband 2 drum kit, so you will have to position it within the USB's cord reach to your xbox 360, for some this might not be a problem, for others you may have to buy a USB extension cord, I've heard of people using a 50 foot USB extension cord without having any issues. Still, it would have been nicer if it was wireless even if they had to an supply an AC adapter to power it, or if it had to use a row of D sized batteries. Granted you're not moving around when you play drums, but that USB cord is just one more cord for one of your buddies playing guitar to trip over.
The foot pedal is not a true kick pedal for a bas drum, it's a high hat cymbal pedal and only the lightest of pressure is needed to operate it. In this regard it is significantly better than the rock band 2 kick pedal. HOWEVER, It is very very loud and not in a good way, it goes clackity clackity clack when you use it. It's just very clackity sounding when in use which can pull your concentration away from playing the drums or the game. To get away from this, you will have to buy another real kick pedal that is made to be used with this drum kit, rockpedal from rockpedal.com will set you back another $75.00 plus shipping if it bothers you that much, which it did for me.
Still, you are ahead of the game for a beginning set if you buy the ion drum kit for $300, another kick pedal for $75.00 and a midi brain for about $150 and a third cymbal (about $35-$70) for a total of $575ish which is still less than buying a beginner drum kit that wont work with the game, but which is a real electronic drum kit with all the trimmings.
Figure on spending anohter $80 to $170 on a proper drum seat (throne) to go along with this kit to keep your butt firmly planted for optimal playing experience. Or if you happen to have an office chair with a ton of adjustments and arms that can be lowered, you can probably get away with using that. It's what I currently use since the arms lower down out of the way of my arms, and it has a backrest already and adjustable everything.
If I had it to do all over again (purchase it) would I do it? Knowing what I know now, I would not purchase it again, nothing against the drum kit, however for a few hundred dollars more I could buy a real electronic drum kit and buy a mod box for about $50.00 that would let it work with the rock band games and guitar hero games. But for people that aren't interested in buying aftermarket things like the mod box, I would suggest it if they want it only for playing one of the games that is supported, due to the vast customization of where you can place each drum and cymbal, however keep in mind that even after messing with it for several days trying different locations for each drum and cymbal, what it finally came down to was making it look as much like the rockband drum controller as possible for optimal playing when playing the game so.... Was it really worth it, you'll have to decide.

What's not so great: Drum petal
Purchased as a Christmas gift and assembled even without all the bolts. Requested missing stand bolts from Ion still not received. Drum petal broke Christmas day and sent into Ion Audio on 12/26/08. Drum petals are on indefinite backorder. Ion Audion continually drops calls and has an average 13 minute wait time to try to talk to someone. If transferred to a voicemail the 5 times in the past 3 days they have never called back. The will not return broken peatl so Best Buy warrant can be used. Definitely poor customer service and no replacement parts available so in hold for nothing. Would recommend spending money elsewhere (not on an IOn Audio product) for Christmas gifts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

With realtively little setup time I was up and running with both Rockband & Rockband 2 games. I can't wait to get a drum module and start freestyling to my favorite music. If you're looking to take up drumming without causing toomuch noise or taking too much space in the house this is the kit for you.

What's great about it: Just having four drums and two cymbals, just feels great to play with.
What's not so great: Set up time, about an hour.
Go on You Tube and see video difference between the two drums. I did my research and knew I wanted to buy this drum set. Very happy. It's easy, I can take off the cymbals and just put it in my Yukon and go to my friends house for some playing time. An hour to setup but worth the pain!!!

If you are a fan of RB/RB2/GH:WT... You NEED this product. Wow, just simply amazing. Immediately notice drum score improvements.
The setup is cumbersome as you'll read in many reviews, but oh so worth it. The bass pedal isn't up to par with the rest of the set either, but it works. I wish there was an included ION adapter included with the set for aftermarket pedals. You'll find that one aftermarket pedal does include the ION adapter for this set... that pedal will set you back about 75 bucks. If you own the Block Head pedal (another great product available at Best Buy), you'll have to find your own adapter solution.
That being said, this product will blow you away. No more missed notes due to not hitting the pad hard enough. You can litterally lightly tap the pad. The rebound on the pads are perfect. No more overbearing loud taps from striking the pads. I highly recommend purchasing a drum throne as well to finish off the feel of this product.
You will not regret this purchase!

What's great about it: Incredibly responsive and durable, insanely cheap.
What's not so great: You'll need different cymbals, bass pedal.
Simply enough, if you can afford it, buy it.
This product will cater to two types of people - those that are really into Rock Band, and those that want an amazing entry-level drum set.
On the good end of things, the "drums" that come with Rock Band will never come close to being this awesome. The pads are ridiculously responsive, picking up feather taps and heavy pounding, with nary a double hit. There is absolutely no crosstalk among the sensors, so you shouldn't have any phantom triggers. The frame, being aluminum with plastic joints/mounts, looks flimsy at first but after hours of 'abuse' it stands up like a champ. Setting the whole package up is intimidating at first, but a quick glance at the included instructions gets the ball rolling, and while it takes a long time, the possibilities are truly endless in terms of positioning. One of the best things about the ION is not being locked down with the toy drums layout!
Of course, very few things in life are perfect and there are a couple "cons" to the package. The greatest, and possibly the Achilles Heel for the Drum Rocker, are the cymbals. As long as you're using them for blue and green crashes, they work fine. But, plug them into the yellow port and try them as hi-hats . . . sadly they are not up to the task. Personally I'd recommend buying better cymbal pads like Yamaha or Roland. The other gripe is the bass pedal. While incredibly sturdy and solid metal, it's loud. I use the Blockhead Rhythm Maker (also on this site) with a jack converter, and it suits just fine.
Don't forget, this is not just a Rock Band controller. These are real drum pads, and as such you can buy an electronic drum module (such as the Alesis DM-5) to convert them to an actual drum set! Even with the hefty price of the module, it's a great bargain for the beginner or somebody who can't make lots of noise with an acoustic set.

What's great about it: Never... I stress never, misses a note. Very comfortable, sleek style, quiet pads, sturdy.
What's not so great: A bit pricey but worth it. Drum pedal a little noisy. Takes about half hour to an hour to set up. (even for pros)
Ok so I was completely sick of playing the very poorly made stock drum kit for rock band having something go wrong with it about every 2 weeks. Having my warranty very much over with, I decided to quit draining 60 or so bucks on replacing the stock kit every time and just go spend $300 once on a very nice upgraded kit. I don't have a lot of money to throw around being in college but it was worth every penny. I can't even explain how much greater this drum is than the stock ones. It never misses a note as long as u hit it, Its all made up of metal to keep it from cracking and keeping it sturdy. EVERY SINGLE PART of the drum can be altered to create the best most comfortable playing position for you. A pro about the drum pedal is that its all metal sort of heavy and never will crack but a con is that is very noisy to people under you if you are upstairs. Not good if you have people living under you but you can simply dampen it out by putting a towel underneath it. Its simple to set up just takes a long time because you have to loosen and then tighten every piece of the drum. ALSO you can get a 2 year extended warranty for only 40 bucks which is not a bad idea should anything happen to your $300 set. I play expert on every song and I know how badly the drums can take a beating. I went crazy on these drums and still nothing was bad. You can play softly or hard and it still picks up every note. Almost forgot, the cymbals work very well. They might miss some notes if you hit them too lightly but they work extremely well. I heard that this drum set works with guitar hero world tour as well which would be nice because this will be a universal drum set instead of just for rock band. If you are looking at this review it probably means you are interested in getting this. If that is true quit thinking about it and just go get it!

My wife purchased this for my Christmas/ Birthday gift and I absolutely love it! It took awhile to set up and modify it for my liking but it doesn't drop a note at all. Now when I miss notes on Expert I know it's because I simply was offbeat no longer do I think it is the drum set that is junk. I went through two regular Rock Band drum sets since Februrary. I should have sent my last one out for an exchange because I cracked three of the drum heads but this new set is foam underneath and cannot be broken!

I have read nothing but rave reviews about the ION Drum Rocker, but I had not been able to actually see or play the set. After picking mine up and playing it for about an hour, it makes your Gaming experience so much better. My biggest thing I love is now that nasty sound hitting on the Rock Band 1 kit made. Now I can hear the game and not miss a beat.
I love having the cymbals cause it makes it more realistic.
The only qualm I had about this set was the setup time.
It took me a good 30-45 minutes to put it together, and to neatly run the wires.
I also love how easy it is to store this kit, you can break it down and put together in a matter of minutes.
Anyway it's a great product and well worth the money. If you have $300 burning a whole in your pocket and just want something that will make your gaming more enjoyable, get this kit.

If you've been playing drums on the old Rock Band drum set, start saving your money for the Ion kit. These drums are EXTREMELY tough, the bass pedal is made of metal and finally being able to play with some cymbals is a great feeling - it's much more like playing a real drum set. Once you start playing with this set you'll wonder how you ever survived playing the old one. Eventually, they're scheduled to release a third cymbal and a second bass pedal.
One note: this set isn't yet fully compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour as the cymbals don't register correctly. If you're going to play with this set on GH:WT, make sure to unplug the cymbals before you play and play only on the pads. The rumor is that Activision will eventually release a patch for this, so you can hope the problem gets solved relatively soon.
The kit is expensive, to be sure, but it's an example of a good value - they're worth the price.

What's great about it: Quality build, excellent rebound, quiet, can be converted to real drums

After going thru 5 Rockband drumsets, i finally got fed up with replacing the drums every other week and i ordred the ION Drum Rocker. This drum set is built to take a beating, the pads are pressure sensative, the rebound is excellent, the footpedal is all metal, the connections are gold plated 1/4" jacks, you can set up the pads and cymbals any way you please, and pound on the drums without fear of breaking the pads! This set plays like a real drum set because it is a real drum set, you can buy a drum controller from ion and then join a real band. After hooking it up and calibrating everything, i found my accuracy went way up and the drum rolls were easier to nail as well. I am completely happy with this set, and while i will never be good enough to join a real band, this drum set makes playing RockBand2 an absolute blast!
I highly reccomend the IOn drum set to anyone who wants to improve their scores ,accuracy and overall gaming experiance, it is built solid as arock, and respresents a great value for the money!

What's great about it: Nice and Quiet. Once you get it set up to your liking you are going to love the game play. Very comfortable.
What's not so great: Pricey.
This drum kit is great. Once you get this drum kit setup it may take you a few games to get comfortable. If something doesn't feel right with how you are hitting the drums you can move it almost any which way you want. I have had the kit for about a week and I am still making minor adjustments to the kit and getting more comfortable every time I move something.
My 10 year old girl is already getting more accurate than she ever was on the Rock Band 1 kit. If you have the $300 to drop on the ION Drum Rocker I highly recommend it. Its fun.
If you ever get bored with Rock Band you can always add the "Alesis DM5 professional Drum Module" for about $360 and play the drums for real.
