What's great about it: Noise Isolation ear plugs What's not so great: Expensive, cord noise
"I bought these earbuds for two reasons: 1) I thought there was a big jump from my ipod earbuds to these & 2) these earbuds received high ratings from other users. Here are my reasons why I do not like these ear buds.
* While the noise isolution earbuds are nice but you can hear feedback from the earbuds when the cord rubs against your body * I did not see a significant jump in the quality sound over my own ipod sound. The only real difference is that the earbuds are more inside your ear then the ipod earbuds, so there are less noise distractions. It's not like you can hear the drums, guitar or piano more crystal clear than the ipod headphones. * When comparing price vs quality, these earbuds are not worth it.
If you like the noise isolation feature, I would recommend just finding a cheaper set of earbuds that come with the noise isolation attachment."

What's great about it: Sound is amazing What's not so great: Nothing
"These are amazing i mean i was a bit skeptical on how much better expensive headphones were compared to some cheap ones but these blew my mind. Its like having a mini theater in your head. The highs are perfect and the Bass is extraordinary. Makes me wonder how i ever listened to my ipod without these. Do yourself a favor and just splurge and buy you a pair you wont be dissapointed."

What's great about it: Great bass with the bonus of great mids and highs (hard to find in this category) What's not so great: right angle plug is preferred over this straight plug, but better than others
"I don't write reviews. Ever. But I think I can help someone out there narrow the search. In my quest to replace my favorite set of in ear headphones that developed a short in the wiring, I did lots of reading reviews like this one . I bought 3 other pairs of in ears before biting the bullet and ordering the UHP326 model. And I love them. In my experience with the 3 sets I returned, these Altec Lansings are perfect for me, and the price is not bad(40.00). I had a set of Philips SHE9700 that sounded ok but no bass and they seemed to color the sound somewhat. I had a set of Sony MDR-XB40EX that I wanted to keep so badly because they were rugged, KILLER bass, and a flat cord, but just not enough highs to make me happy. Get the Sonys if you want awesome bass but can handle less highs. I also bought the Altec UHP606 and they were near perfect in terms of sound quality, but not enough bass for me. For me , the $40.00 UHP326 sounds better than the $80.00 UHP606. I don't like the straight plug that is supplied with the UHP326(the UHP606 has a right angle plug) but it is recessed somewhat and isn't as annoying as others. I hope this helps someone else who is tired of buying and returning in ear monitors!"

What's great about it: Everything! What's not so great: Could be a little smaller in size (see below)
"I've used the Etymotic er6 and er6i, and the shure ec3 earbuds and thiese sound just as good as the ec3 but has the better sound isolation of the er6i. They don't over push the bass like most in-ear buds do, yet the bass isn't overly tight like the etymotic buds. Well balanced sound. I've only had them for a day so I can't write about durability but it has the 90 degree plug on it so i expect them to last for a while. I like to wear these while I sleep with a thunderstorm soundtrack playing. If I had to whine about something, they could be a little shorter in the bud part which would make them more comfortable when I sleep on my side. The etymotic buds rule there as they fit all the way into the ear canal. Other than that these are as good or better than anything I have seen in it's price range."

What's great about it: They stay in your ear in activity you do, awesome sound, plus an unbeatable price. What's not so great: I cannot think of any...
"The Altec Lansing BackBeat Dynamic Ear Bud Headphones is at an unbeatable price, where other competitors do not come close on selling such an awesome pair of headphones. With all the top named brands out in the market, there are still those out there that sound just as good as the overly priced headphones. I would recommend this pair of headphones to anyone that is looking into deep bass tones with the clarity of the highs and mids. The balance between the highs and lows is just right for any type of genre out in the market."

The best bang for your buck headphones ever!04/12/2009
By Stanmanfrom Cerritos, CA
What's great about it: Outstanding big bass & good detail sound, nice cord, good case, price, Altec Lansing name. What's not so great: None
"When it comes to music, headphones are the best & fastest way to improve sound from your mp3 player. When the sound is right, it makes your listening pleasure that much better! I own several sets of headphones & this was my 1st time buying an Altec Lansing product. I wish I found out about these BackBeat 326's earlier! The sound is outstanding especially for the price. They deliver that big bass sound we crave for. Highs are clean with good detail. The vocals are not over-powering or hollow, it sounds natural. Altec Lansing makes the best cords of all the headphones I own, it's made of cloth and it doesn't feel too stiff or thin. They also come with a nice case that fits your headphones perfectly. The sound quality rivals those within the $99-$199 price range which is truly amazing, especially when you're only paying $80 for these headphones. It's that good! The V-moda vibe are very good headphones but the highs are too bright, it may give some people a headache. Also they don't have that big bass sound like the BackBeat326's have. The Shure SE110 have well balanced highs & vocals, but bass is no where to be found. Also the fit is the most uncomfortable of all brands. The Bose TriPort IE has tremendous bass but the highs & vocals are non-existent and all your music sounds muddy, there's no detail. The Klipsch Custom-1's are good, there the most natural sounding in bass, highs, and vocals. But they lack the big bass these Altec Lansing BackBeat 326's have. Another great set are the JBL reference 220 headphones. You get that big bass sound like the BackBeat 326's with brighter highs for more detail. The brighter the highs are, you're susceptible to headaches. Of all the headphones I listed, the Altec Lansing BackBeat 326's have the best complete sound. It has that sound you expect a $199 set to sound like. Altec Lansing did a great job in these BackBeat 326 headphones. They're not kidding when they say Titanium-enhanced micro-speakers for full-spectrum sound. I wish I didn't have to buy all those other sets of headphones just to find out these BackBeat 326's were the best. It would've saved me a lot of money. Be impressed & buy these Altec Lansing BackBeat 326 headphones, they have the sound you want with a price too good to be true!"
