What's great about it: The price!
What's not so great: Not much, other than the short battery life.
I bought this about a month ago and use it daily. I love this laptop for many reasons. The price was most important to me, so it gets two big thumbs up for that. I searched the internet and several stores, for weeks before buying this laptop. I am still very happy with my decision! It does everything I need it to do! Very happy customer!

What's not so great: its get heated up easily and switch off automatically, scratches, very less volume
With my experience, what I want to tell is don't waste your money buying this pc.

What's great about it: Easy set-up, style, and speed

Having read numerous reviews prior to purchasing this laptop, I had some hesitations with Vista and possible freezing. I've had no issues with either. I did purchase a new router just as a precaution. I utliize the system primarily for business. The laptop was very easy to set up, as I had it completely up and running out of the box including transferring data from my old PC within minutes . . . and I'm a computer novice! The screen far exceeds the quality of the screen on our current well-known competitors laptop. I would highly recommend this Dell to anyone using it for daily computing/office functions/internet. Our other laptops battery and charger just died, and rather than replacing those (after only 2 years), we've decided to buy another matching system because of the price. Computer novices need not be hesitant to purchase this laptop, if I can set it up on my own, I'm sure you can.

My hubby and I bought this computer, and a case, etc. to take with us on vacation. We felt it was a great deal. Took it with us to Cali; great for travelling. Unfortunately, three days after we returned home, our home was burgularized and the computer was stolen. I'm frustrated that we were violated and now to have to get another computer etc etc......I'm annoyed!

I looked and looked for a laptop. Read customer reviews and this laptop is perfect. It's fast it has windows vista home premium. Dell is awesome if you need a laptop that is really good then get this one, i just opened it from the box and it started right away!

Very good product and excellent price! I needed for my teenage step-son, who is been wanting a laptop for sometime now. He loves it! Takes it with him everywhere! It has great capacity; he uses it for school, to search the internet, and play games. Couldn't get a better laptop for such an affordable price.

right when I took it out of the box it was easy to set up and get going just got faster as I went along . Large screen is clear and great to look at , just all around a great laptop .

What's great about it: 3MB RAM, Easy to set up, very good price, nice widescreen display.
What's not so great: Shows fingerprints easily, haven't had it long enough to add anything else.
Only had it for a few days, but it seems like a pretty good laptop for the money (paid $349 plus tax since I had $55 in reward certificates). 3MB RAM is great. The speed and response of the laptop seems to be very good. I've had an online video playing while surfing the web and didn't have any problems or slowness. For someone who only surfs the web, does word processing, or lightly plays online games/videos/etc, then this is probably a very good laptop. So far I have not regretted purchasing. Since I am not a heavy gamer, I can't say how it would react to heavy game play.

What's great about it: Where do I start? PRICE, Dual Core Processor, Lightweight
What's not so great: Windows Vista, Service at Best Buy!
I am what one might call 'electronically-challenged', so when I tell you that I took this out of the box, plugged it in and had absolutely no problems-it's saying ALOT!!!
The price was amazing, especially for a DELL. I never thought I'd walk out of Best Buy within my budget ($500) and also being able to afford a carrying case and a hand-held mouse. I have had the computer for 2 days: I have used it, and my 13-year old & 11-year old sons have used it with absolutely no issues.
I am returning back to school, and doing mostly independent study/online classes and needed a laptop that I could travel with-go to the library, Borders, Dunkin Donuts, etc. when I need to get out of the house and study with no kids around. This should do the trick!!!

What's great about it: Glossy finish, clear display screen, smooth and fast operating system
What's not so great: Very short battery life, freezes occasionally
The Dell Inspiron is probably one of the best laptops you can get for about $400. It has a glossy shine to it all over and the top is blue but the inside is black. This laptop has all the basics that a student or someone who doesn't like complicated computers will need. It's very easy to use. Also, it very good for multimedia purposes. I listen to music and watch movies on it all the time and it looks and sounds wonderful. Also, the Dell Inspiron is good for games like World of Warcraft or Jade Dynasty.
The only major problem I have with this laptop is the battery life. When full charged, the computer say it has about 6 hours of life off the charger. However, it never really runs that long and I end up having to put it back on the charger within about 3 or 4 hours.
Overall, this laptop is a great value for the price. It runs well, has great sound and display, and is very easy to use. I'm completely happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone in need of a simple inexpensive laptop.

I bought this unit because I thought it had a good price and would be able to do the things I need to do. Mostly I am satisfied with it. I do however feel that the ad is misleading because this computer IS NOT eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 7. When you visit the Dell website to register for the upgrade you find out that this MODEL is not included in Dell's list of eligible computers. Very disappointed about that. I only bought this one at this time because I thought I could get Windows 7 when it comes out. If I knew I would have to pay for the upgrade I would have waited or spent a few extra bucks now to get a computer that can be upgraded for free.

I needed an inexpensive laptop to use at home and when traveling. I was wary of using Vista but the Home Edition after the service pack updates runs fast and smooth. I needed to be able to load a few specific software programs and they work great. Items download quickly and operate without any problems.
I liked it so much my elderly mom has ordered her own! This is Dell quality but with a great price!

What's not so great: nothing really I've owned it for 2 months now and no complaints
I bought this for my wife for Mothers day, and she loves it. I can't believe the performance for the price. I've found myself on it more and more. I even ask her if I can get on it because it's faster than our desktop. I bought my own laptop this week a studio17 and to tell the truth I like hers better, it fits better in your lap and is not nearly as heavy as the studio. Overall very pleased with this laptop it does have the usuall complaints about the smudges and short battery life but that's why they make cleaning cloths and wall adaptors

I have had this computer for almost 24 hours. I purchased it for internet browsing, to play World of Warcraft, and to take to class.
-The computer is attractive. You may not care, but I do! I love the glossy finnish completely incasing the computer, and the deep blue color. Very pretty.
-Minimalists will adore this computer. It has all the parts necessary to a working computer and none of that extra stuff that sounds really cool, but you will never use, and only runs up the cost of computer.
-Difficulty connecting wirelessly. I blame Vista and myself for making my network so hard to get into. No one's going to steal my internet! Not even me :/ I eventually figured it out.
-World of Warcraft works. Yay!
-DVD player is pretty cool. I watch a lot of movies.
-Memory is good. 3Gigs, expandable to 4, which is enough for me. I looked into the cost of upgrade and I think dell.com is charging around $30.

For $400 you can't find a laptop that compares in features and power. Good for everyday use and some light gaming. I do want to warn people that i tried to sign up for the Windows 7 upgrade through Dell's website and it said that i was not eligible for the free upgrade. Contacting Dell as i write since this laptop meets all of their requirements listed on their site. Otherwise this is a great laptop that i purchased not only for myself, but have recommended to my Aunt and a few friends that needed new laptops.

I got this laptop July the rd, & its a OK laptop, and it comes with a windows 7 upgrade, but i have not got it yet. I wonder when is it coming. SO far I have Vista and I really like it. I would get the laptop if you are a student like myself & all of us students know that budget is key. it kind idiot proof if you ask me.

I bought this laptop two days ago and I love it. For the price and performance it is exactly what I wanted. Now with all the netbooks out there, laptops are becoming more affordable. The only problem I had trying to connect to the internet wirelessly, was I had to disable the firewall. But I have local protection on my computer through my internet company. Other than that, this computer has everything. And I have not had any problems with Windows Vista. Infact I like it.

What's not so great: A little bigger then some laptops, only 160gb of HD
Bought the laptop a couple days ago. I used to have Xp and find vista very appealing, though is a little hard to understand and get used to in the beginning. the 3gb of Ram really helps out this computer. I also have played WOW on this computer and the graphics and performance are definatly satisfactory. I would recommened this laptop for most people and is a good value at under $400
