What's great about it: looks great, fast processor

I loved this computer when I first saw it but thought it was overpriced at $849 so I kept shopping & waiting. I always came back to this sony. I was going to purchase an hp but I just wasnt crazy about the way it looked. Then one day this computer was on sale (floor model) so I got the computer I loved at a steal! Cheaper than the hp!! I have had it 2 wks now & love it every time I use it!
The battery life is a little on the short side, a good 2.5 almost 3 hrs before I have to plug it in but thats not a huge problem for me. Also yes the fan is a little loud but I dont really notice it.
This laptop is fast fast fast!!! Plus it has tons of memory & sounds great! The keyoard took a little getting used to but after a couple days I was typing faster than ever!!
Deff recommend this computer, it took me nearly six months of research to finally buy the computer I originally wanted! lol
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Fast, quality screen, lightweight
What's not so great: The fan, battery life is not the longest, Vista
I have had this computer for almost 6 months now and use it daily. At first, it was a great computer with one exception - it would often not register when I would plug in USB drives, so it made it very difficult to remove external media safely. In addition, the charging signal appears even when the computer is not plugged in.
I had read a lot of reviews about people having problems with the fan. At first I just thought they were overreacting, but about a week ago my fan started making this horrible noise that sounds like a motor is running and it comes on randomly. In addition, a month or two after I purchased the computer the mouse button stopped clicking. It eventually corrected itself, but I would press down and nothing would happen. I did get it fixed, though, and haven't had a problem with it since.
With the exception of the fan, it has been a good little computer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: outside color, light weight, seperated keys, runs great, clear nice screen

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago because I am going to college in the fall. I absolutely LOVE it! I love the color (white)! It runs very smooth and good. I read the reviews before I bought it and some people talked about the fan making a loud noise, I haven't had that problem. But I also bought a cooling stand for the laptop to sit on, and I use it everytime I use the laptop. When turning it on, it loads very fast. The battery life is pretty short. Probably only about an 1.5-2 hours, but I just plug mine into an outlet everytime I use it to avoid that problem. Since the keys are seperated and kind of raised, hair and stuff can get underneath them, so be careful. I would definately reccommend this laptop for students or just everyday people needing a laptop. I love it!

What's great about it: Overall appearance, light weight, pebble keyboard design, memory card slots, fast video streaming, 250GB... EVERYTHING!!
What's not so great: Minor things: Touchpad buttons clack a bit loudly & sensitive CD drive button
I decided to buy this laptop after my 5 year old one bluescreened a few months ago. I can't tell you how pleased I am with it! Getting the Vaio set up was easy breezy, and the process of making recovery discs was very simple and direct. I was worried about the wireless internet connection being unstable, but it loads YouTube and Hulu videos perfectly! The internet, WebCT, e-mail & other school-related programs load lightening fast. It plays The Sims 2 (with several expansion packs) flawlessly and never freezes. I'm finding typing in general MUCH easier using the pebble styled keyboard. Plus, no dust or grime is being able to build up under the keys. The Webcam takes pictures with amazing detail, and the compliments I get using it? Well, the sparkly, pearl look speaks for itself.
However, with good there is always something... not so good. First of all, it was a bit on the expensive side. (But totally worth it.) The CD player drive has a button that is very sensitive, so only a light touch will pop it open. The touchpad buttons clack loud enough to be annoying in a library. And, finally, there are not enough hours in the day for me to play with the laptop. It's just so much fun!
For clarification purposes in response to other reviews, sometimes the laptop will run warm. As such, the fan does turn on intermittently during use, but it's not that loud. It's certainly not as loud as my old laptop (which heat-shocked my writsts and whose fan sounded like a jet taking off a tarmac).
In summation, I highly recommend this Sony Vaio to any college student (or minor gamer). Its light weight allows for easy transport to and from campus. The 250GB memory lets you play games and store everything from lectures, PowerPoints, projects, DVD digital copies and thousands of songs. The Sony Vaio VGN-CS215J is pitch-perfect.

my dad bought me this laptop a couple of weeks ago. he told me to choose whichever laptop i wanted and as soon as i saw this one i fell in love with it i just had to have it to this day im still in love with no problems. the only little thing i didnt like was the mouse buttons, they are a little hard and make a loud CLICK everytime they are pressed but you can just tap the pad and works as if you clicked.

Yes there were internet problems. The day I got it the laptop wouldn't connect unless it was hardwired with the ethernet cable. While messing with the router my router kicked the bucket and I had to run to the store to pick another one up since I'm not the only person in the house with a laptop. I picked up a $100 router and all my internet issues dissapeared. It connected right away to the internet and I absolutly have no problem with the internet. I also downloaded the new wifi driver off sony's website so I think it helped too. Yes the fan does get annoying sometimes, if you don't like it there is a feature where you can put it in "silent" mode. Sony customer support is spectacular over the phone, I ran into a problem and they fixed it right away. This laptop does require more critical thinking skills than other laptops. If you guys want a reliable, good value laptop I recommend the Toshiba A305-s6905, we bought that one a couple of months ago and never had a problem with it, the battery life is 6-7 hours on balanced setting. No problems with internet at all.

What's not so great: The button to open CD rom is very sensitive. It pops open all the time.
I bought this computer earlier this year and I haven't had any problems with it. I had the touch screen HP and returned it for this one. 2 things I don't like about it are #1 you have to make your own recovery discs and #2 the button to open the cd rom is very sensitive so it pops open when you hit it accidentally. Other than that I would recommend this to everyone.

What's not so great: one month in, everything started breaking
I have had my current Vaio for a little over a month. I returned the first one because of problems with the fan, and the wireless card. My newer one lasted a month before it started showing it's problems. Now the web cam doesn't work, and fan makes that horrible noise, the USB ports don't recognize that anything is plugged into them, and sometimes it just plain refuses to turn on. I'm now afraid to ever turn it off because I am afraid I will never be able to access my files again. And all this after only having had it for a month.
It's a nice looking computer, definitely aesthetically pleasing. The processor speed is great, but if the computer won't even turn on, what use is that. The audio is good, but still not good enough to drown out the awful fan. I feel as if I have been cheated out of my money.

this laptop was great at first, but i've had it for around 7 months and it's already having problems. I use it minimally and i never take it out of my house and yet already its seems as though its 5 years old or something. The battery life sucks, there's a blue line on the right side of the screen when you turn it on, it has not fallen, i don't put anything on top of it. I will be surprised if keep it for a whole year. If I had to do it again i would have shelled out the extra cash and got something better.

This was my first laptop purchase and it didn't go so well. Overall look and feel of the laptop was excellent, I'm new to Vista had no problem getting used to it with this laptop.
After having the laptop on for 30 min just surfing the web the annoying CPU fan starts roaring every 30 seconds, as i'm typing this and not running anything else it going on and off. SO ANNOYING!

Love this new computer. I had a hp and that would shut off all the time when I was in the middle of something. The only I have with this one is the internet won't stay connectied. I have to disconnect and reconnect. I read that someone was having the same problem and I am going to get me a new router from phone company...

Overall its a nice laptop. A bit costly but value for money. I got it last week and its working perfectly fine except the some minor internet issues initially. Otherwise internet is fast and flawless, no pauses at all. The Speakers are really good and produce loud enough and crystal clear sound. Design and looks ...awesome. Compact design but solid enough to bear some pressure. Display is cool and Clear. After full charge battery works for 2.5 hours at least. Its good enough for me. I will definitely recommend to buy this laptop...if someone is looking for medium end laptop with all-purpose features.

i bought this computer almost 2 months ago, and at first i did experience the problem with wifi like a lot of other people mentioned here. and i was very upset because i loved this computer. so i called Sony and explained the problem ( the service by the way was great). and they said that my router was too old for this new windows 64-bit system. so, i went ahead and bought a new router that is compatible with windows 64-bit. and since then i didnt have a single problem with my internet connection. it works fast, never drops off. computer is silent, beautiful... i just love it.

i can't find one good thing to say about this laptop im typing on at this very moment. I am returning this laptop ASAP tomorrow morning to trade it in for a dell or toshiba. The battery life is whorible, worst battery life i've ever used, my cell phone not charged for 3 days lasts longer than this. The fan is extreamly loud. the internet connection is WHORIBLE and takes far too long. Everysingle time i turn this piece of s***t on, i have to disconnect then RECONNECT to get the internet working PROPERLY...if i do not do this, the internet connection will tell me that i am not conncected. EVEN THOUGH my AIM is working perfectly fine. The camera, is not as clear as i was expecting. And the mouse clicking is dreadful as well.... "click.....Click...CLICK!!" ughh.. this was the WORST 800$ i've ever spent. i will never again buy another SONY product again.. LOST a customer for life... i sold my MAC.. to my sister, and decided to get something new... biggest mistake of my life.. please i very much recommend you to NOT buy this laptop... now i have to go though the hassel of returns, and file transfers, and buying another laptop.

Overall, this is a SUCK laptop. This is not what I expected for a Sony product. The most annoying thing with this laptop is that the fan keeps running and it's really loud. It's an embarrassment to take out in public. This also applies to the mouse pad "click-clack" noise so annoying. It has really short battery life, less than3h47min. Another thing that I don't like is that the processing speed is really slow. Take really long for things to upload or come up. I also have some problems connecting to the internet. Wanted to return/exchange but don't want to lose 15% for the restocking fee. Lucky that my niece didn't get this laptop at the same time cuz now i can tell her that it's suck and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The laptop is greatt, i use it for business and personal stuff. what really sucks is the internet connection. the wireless is always disconnecting and i always have to re-connect it a million times when im using it doing homework and other stuff. It'll only stay connected if i connect the wireless directly to the internet. The laptop is small and really nice color! its easy to type. they battery life is pretty short and the fan is really loud... it gets loud when i'm using it at school. But overalll it's a great laptop for the price.
