What's great about it: Like what it does so far
What's not so great: Not a long battery life

"The only problem that I have found is that the battery does not stay charged very well. It is lucky to get an hour and 15 minutes. Other than that, I like the features that the unit has. It is very quick and is good for the appications that we are using. The wireless internet is good and is not a problem."

What's great about it: Easy to use, looks good, reliable, great value for the price
What's not so great: Can't think of a thing!

"My husband and I have a desktop PC but it seemed like we always wanted to use it at the same time, so we decided to get a laptop. The Best Buy salesperson steered us toward this Toshiba and we are so happy with it! It works great! I've noticed that many reviewers have complained about the short battery life, but we mainly use the laptop plugged in at home, so this hasn't affected us."

"I bought this laptop to use at home and school. I needed the extra memory (3GB) and hard drive space to use some specific design software for one of my classes. So far, I have been very pleased with this Toshiba laptop. The display is fantastic. The performance is good too, and the AMD processor with the ATI graphics really enhance Vista's appearance. I have owned and used Macs for several years, but I must admit that this is a fine laptop for the money. I would definitely recommend it."

What's great about it: Screen, price, keyboard, quiet, ENERGY STAR qualified, Wi-Fi, AMD, dual core
What's not so great: Battery life (2 hrs 10 min), little heavy- not too bad, heats up, needs louder speakers

"I bought this laptop about two months ago, and it has been great. I use it for school, email, music/movies, and everything I used my old desktop for (not gaming or storing photos). The display is clear and bright, and the keyboard is full sized and easy to see. I wish there was an S-video port and a 4th USB port. However, the price was right and I needed to get one.

I have very few complaints about this TOSHIBA. It does heat up very quickly and blows a lot of hot air, not hot enough to burn, but a bit of an annoyance, nothing I would regret buying it for. Also, there is no media disk back up. You must use your own DVDs or CDs to create backups of the programs preinstalled, and get rid of preinstalled programs to save space and increase performance (not unusual). Again, not a big deal, just a minor annoyance. When you start it up for the first time it takes a while, then it is much faster afterwards. The laptop itself is a little hefty, not a big deal considering the amount of books I carry in my backpack. The battery charges quickly and is a little over two hours in Power Saver mode, not unusual for laptops of this price and specs.

I have had fast performance when multitasking, no freeze-ups or re-boots, and the keyboard works great for me. The keys are not too small or squished together. I love that there are buttons above the keypad that can mute, play/pause, stop, or skip when viewing DVDs. I like the fact that there are scrolls on the mouse pad (on the bottom and the right edge). Speakers could be louder, great if you use headphones, but not loud in competition with other devices (i.e. TV or stereos), they can only go so loud. If you plan on using this computer to show movies with a group of friends, you might consider external speakers, but they are not horrible. They are clear, but obviously not as loud as eternal speakers. Sorry, I do not use the webcam, I did try it out once, and it is grainy.

I have had no problems thus far, and I plan to continue to use this laptop all through college. Good bang for the buck. My Best Buy experience was very good. The packaging was in GREAT condition when I picked it up at the UPS office. I would definitely recommend this laptop to a college student who needs a basic computer that is cheap and uses it for: papers, research, presentations, internet, movies, etc. I shopped around for months trying to find the right computer. Finally I found this one. Being a math major, hopefully this computer can handle the work load. I will be happy as long as I have a number keypad. (Fingers Crossed) Good luck in finding the right computer for your needs."

What's not so great: Touch Pad is rough, Firgure Prints Everywhere.

"I love this computer!! It has served me vary well. I am a college student and this computer will do everything i need it to and then some. I love the screen and the keyboard is vary nice. Its got ok sound better than most laptops ive had. The thing i dont like is the touch pad. Its textured so if you use it for a long period of time your finger kinda gets sore but i would much rather have that touch pad then most of the ones now a days. Figure prints show vary easily but that is something i can live with. I bought it for the power not the look. Over all i think its a great buy for the money."

"I just got this computer two days ago. I looove it. Its comfortable to type, extremely quiet, and has a large, beautiful screen, and was easy for me to set up. I do wish that this computer came in different colors (green would have been nice) and it's a magnet for fingerprints. Overall, it's fantastic, and I would recomend it to anyone."

"Well I bought this laptop about 3 weeks ago and it's been pretty good. I bought it for $499 when it was on sale. There hasn't really been any problems except it is a little slow at times on the net. The webcam isn't the best of quality but at least it has one with the laptop. It does get a little hot (but what laptop doesn't?) It has pretty good ram and hard drive for a good price. Most of the time it is pretty fast and gets the job done! I would recommend you getting it when it's on sale."

"This is a good computer for my needs. It is does everything it's supposed to, in fine fashion. I have had it for two weeks and not had any problems.
The only cons I can think of are..The keyboard feels not as solid as my HP. The keyboard flexes a little more than I would think it should, but types well. And the space bar has this almost inaudible, squeak every time I hit it! Weird, but no big deal. The USB for the mouse plug-in on the right side is too far forward, I'd rather it was back by the power cord plug-in. It is also not a big deal. That's the worst things I can find wrong! Like I said great bang for the buck."

"this is a great laptop computer and i would highly recommend this to everyone. when you buy it though, remember to get the one that is optimized and comes with the recovery discs because then when you get home, you plug it into the ac adapter, and your up and running and there is no trials on it. you get the optimization and recovery discs for $60, when the normal prices are $40 for the discs and $40 for the optimization so you save $20!!!! highly recommended."

"This laptop was a steal! I would recommend anyone to get this. The only problem I have had with it is the webcam is fuzzy, but I didn't exactly want the webcam in the first place, was excited to try it out and was a little disappointed. Also, it has a short battery life, I have to charge it all the time. And it smudges and leaves fingerprints everywhere, which isnt great when you have small children in the house. Other than that I love this laptop!!!"

"I bought a HP pavilion laptop which repeatedly kept overheating and shutting off so I ttok it back to bestbuy and I actually got to swap for another computer that was equal to the price I payed for the HP, I choose the Toshiba and I love it compared to the HP, it is more sturdy than the HP, the features are more accessible, the keyboard is larger easier to use along with mouse pad. Overall for the price it is a steal."
