What's great about it: Battery time lasts most of 4.5 hrs also runs cool good sounding speakers
What's not so great: mouse pad not sensitive needs a good tap.

"This computer is real worth the price. Bought 3 of the identical ones in a week,one for the wife and 2 for the kids. They are using them everyday, so far no defects.Had all them for over three weeks and nobody complains of any issues. The fit and finish of this product is very user friendly had the Geek Squad do the set up which down loaded virus and spyware proms and removed the adware and startup junk."

"My first laptop was a Toshiba Satellite which I bought 9 years ago with max RAM of 512MB...That is the only reason I had to upgrade. With 4GB of RAM upgradeable to 8GB, I can see having this computer for a while. Keyboard at first was too glossy for me, but I've gotten used to it. I compared this one with a comprable HP, and it was the sound that sent me back to the Toshiba. Very happy with my purchase."

What's great about it: Good quality processor, reliable and fast performance, looks nice
What's not so great: poor graphic, doesn't come with an anti-virus program

"I am generally satisfied with my laptop- it was a good purchase for the price because it will do the job that needs to be done and it looks nice too.
However, there was no description of what was supposed to be included in the box and when I opened the box, there was no recovery cd so I called Toshiba for instructions on how to create one on my own (in case there is a hardware failure). The first thing the Toshiba employee told me was that my warranty had expired last year so I had to tell him that I had just bought the laptop and I had one year from now. It turned out that the laptop was supposed to come with a recovery cd so he said he will send one to me. My experience with purchasing Webroot antivirus software that was bundled with the laptop was a bit disappointing as well because I didn't find out about its one year license term until I had installed it and was instructed to upgrade it to the latest version. The one year license term was not written on the box of the software and was not readily noticeable in the fine prints of the license agreements when I was installing it. Had I known about this important license term, I would have never bought this software in the first place. But BestBuy employee did not say anything about this either when I was about to purchase it. But now the software is opend and BestBuy policy doesn't allow return for opened software."

What's great about it: Battery Battery Battery...and Battery.....and the size :)
What's not so great: nothing I can think of, I'm not crazy about the glossy keyboard but I was used to it after 1 day.

"This laptop is a great deal compared to just about anything else for the same price. The processor and memory perform great for just about anything you need to do. The #1 reason I purchased this was in hopes of getting the advertised battery life, I can't believe how well it does in power saver mode. I Have already exceeded 5 hours of use with one charge, it's really one of the best windows laptops I've seen for battery life. The extended battery sticks out the back a little, but it doesn't drop down below the laptop like the HP extended batteries do which is the primary reason I wouldn't get an HP with the extended battery. I still feel like this battery did not add a ton of weight, and didn't turn a small laptop into a bulky laptop.....perfect design. I still can't believe more manufacturers haven't put batteries in like this, that get over 5 hours of life for general surfing and casual internet use....outstanding job toshiba."

What's great about it: Love the features, speed, price, style!
What's not so great: I really love this computer, but it's defective; keeps crashing.

"So i went shopping for a new laptop to replace my HP which i've owned for over a year now. Love that one too, just my wifi switch broke, and now i feel like replacing it. So this laptop is great, but I brought the originally one May 4th, 2009, and it worked fine, after ONLY a few hours it crashed, it was a "C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini050709-01.dmp " Mini dump crash of some sort. I enjoyed my new computer so much I decided it just to give it another chance. Still using it hours later reading an article on the internet CRASH! again. This time i decided this computer has serious issues. Took it back the next morning, for an exchange.

Now I have my 2nd NEW Toshiba M305-S4910 in 2 days, guess what? Same situation, reading an article on CNN, crash! Enjoyed the computer so much, I decided to fix it, searched the net, guess what? Found out that this computer has issues with quality, and defects from simplest things like the webcam, mic, and the worst crashing!

Taking it back for a completely different computer tommorow. If you buy this computer you REALLY are gambling!"

What's great about it: Everything, from performance, to compatibility, battery, looks and quality!!
What's not so great: havent come up with anything soo far!

"I have been using this laptop for the past few weeks and unlike any other laptop i haven't found a single category that its anything less than spectacular!!

While taking it to school its amaizing, connecting to wireless is impressive, video talking online is a brezze!! That battery is only a 9 cell but boyyyy does it produce over 5 hours of running time!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about this laptop. Some people say that it leaves finger print smudges?? Well I don't care!!!! Everything is perfect, form the processor, to the display, convenience, and so is the quality of this laptop!!

And best of all its only $649, I couldnt find a better deal anywhere else!!
Job well done Toshiba!!"

What's great about it: Battery life, Display, Solid bulit, Performance, Speakers
What's not so great: Smudges easily, No turn up/down volume button.

"Love everything about it, even if it smudges easily its a minor minor problem. Just leave the stickers that came with the laptop on that will decrease the smudging. Overall, it is a great laptop for the price , even though it is a bit heavy , it is not bulky. But I am comparing it to my IBM thinkpad X40, so I may be a bit biased. The performance is great, do yourself some help and delete some of the unused shortcuts and programs that came with the computer.

It doesn't come with buttons to turn up/down the volume, that annoys me a bit."

What's not so great: Computer turned on after doing shut down. Toshica technicians were not able to identify the problem.

"I returned it and got again the same model; the same thing happened again. Is not a matter of a sensor, you can be in another room, and it will turn on."

What's great about it: Price, Features, Finish, Battery Life,

"I have been using this system for a few days now and have been very impressed with the solid feel to the design, the performance (wifi, processor, memory, graphics). It is incredibly smooth in handling even memory intensive programs like iTunes. This is my first Vista experience and I have found a lot of flexibility playing around with it making it comfortable for me. The laptop has a very solid feel, my better half has a dell and when i pick it up I can feel the whole chassis flex a good amount, this one I feel no flex. The battery life is excellent and the cooling seems to be very efficient as I left it on my lap for an hour the other day and not once did it get too hot. The finish is very sharp and while the keyboard looks slick it has a very nice feel to it from my perspective. The unit has plenty of ports for my use and my only complaints (which are minor) are the touchpad doesn't seem to have very good range and there is no HDMI port. But for the price I wasn't expecting an HDMI. I also was impressed with the facial recognition program which you can set to unlock the computer instead of a password.

Overall I am very pleased with this product and for the price I do not feel like you can beat it."

"I initially bought a Gateway but couldn't get used to the keyboard so I returned it. The Toshiba was my second choice but should have been my first! It's a great little computer. It's quick and slick looking. Smudges on the keybard are really a non-issue. It is fast and was easy to set up. I'm totally happy with it."

What's great about it: expandable ram, firewire port, lots of hard drive space, long battery life, beautiful display
What's not so great: no HDMI port, no MS Works, grainy webcam

"I was looking for a laptop that had at least 4 gigs of ram, an HDMI port, and a firewire port. I almost bought the A305-6916, it had everything I wanted except that the 4 gigs of ram is NOT upgradeable to 8, plus I wasn't going to spend an extra $100 just to have an HDMI port, so I chose this one and I'm glad I did.

The display is gorgeous and the machine performs very well. It doesn't come with alot of useless bloatware to slow down the performance. The keyboard is comfortable to use as well as the touchpad. And the smudges? Who cares, that's the least of my worries, plus they give you a little cloth to wipe them off, pretty cool.

I was surprised to find that the webcam is very grainy compared to the webcam on my Dell when I put them side by side. But in the store all the webcams look good because of the flourescent lighting. I took my laptop into my basement and tried it with the flourescent lights there and sure enough, the image quality improved A LOT. Plus there are settings you can tweak to make the image quality better if you're sitting in a living room or in a room that's not too well lit, so that helps.

I was also surprised to see that there was no MS Works on the laptop just a trial version of Office which I uninstalled, I have a copy of MS Works that I bought a few years ago I was able to install on this computer and it runs fine.

You may have a problem making recovery discs though. I tried making a set of recovery discs and it makes the first disc but when making the second disc you get a crazy error message. This is a known problem with this model; however, there is a copy of the system on a hidden portion of the hard drive if you need to do a factory restore. I know you can get a set of recovery discs if you call customer service.

But all things considered, I am very happy with this computer so far and I am looking forward to spending many hours enjoying it and getting a lot of computer for a very reasonable price."

"Been shopping for a laptop for months now but never was satisfied with what I saw. A week ago I randomly looked on the web to see if I could find anything that peeked my interests and found this one. I was looking for something that was not too big (my dad's laptop is 17" and HEAVY) but not too small (my brother's is 13" and feels confining). This computer is just right.

The 4GB is great because it runs vista and multiple programs with little to no lag. 320GB is so much more than what I will ever use, it's incredible! We looked up different brands and for a Dell that wasn't as good as mine was at least $200 more."

What's great about it: Easy set up, great price, lightweight, fast bootup, all around reliable...
What's not so great: nothing so far, fingerprint smudges but who cares, comes with a cleaning cloth

"I started to look around for a decent computer that would support my needs. This computer does that and more. Ample hard drive space (350), quick processer and sleek design won me over really. Setup was quick and easy, and I had an internet connection within minutes.
Alot of people complain about finger prints all over the glossy surface, but that's just what you get. When you're done using it for the night, just wipe them off with the included cleaning cloth. I've also read a lot of reviews blasting the computer for small hardware malfunctions and how vista isn't the best os. Okay.... then maybe you should have bought a mac? Don't complain if you've owned the computer for all of 10 minutes. Many computers have a chance of messing up, deal with it. Plus you have a warranty.
What's also great is the super long battery life which comes in handy for road trips or going to class. So overall, this is a great deal and trustworthy computer."

"This Laptop is probably the best computer so far. It's my first laptop and it has really got me happy and hooked! My sister has a macbook and it is just horrible. You can do barely anything withit, and with this laptop you can play games, fast internet and etc... It is soooo fast it's unbelievable, the startup is super quick. Even when I only have two bars of WiFi Internet it is still fast. If you want a good laptop and don't have that much to spend, buy this one it's better than a MAC."

What's great about it: Good speakers, few extra programs to uninstall, great battery life, size, quick start up, touch control media panal

"I brought this laptop home last evening and had it up and running out of the box in less than 10 minutes. It recognized my home wireless network and maintained a strong signal throughout the house (3 levels). The speakers are really good for a laptop, I put in my newest U2 cd and was impressed by the clarity and crispness of the speakers. I have not put this machine through its paces yet, but I like what I have experienced so far. The extended battery is great! I used it unplugged for over 2 hours last evening, listening to music and surfing the web and still had over 3 hours of juice remaining when I called it a night. I also like the fact the battery lifts the back of the machine up off the desk a little, more comfortable for typing and allows for some airflow. The fingerprint issue that others have mentioned is not a concern to me. I like the keyboard, it is quiet and has a nice feel to it.

I also want to give Best Buy some kudos for their website, I spent the last week or so reading the reviews and finally decided on the Toshiba M305-S4910 over the Toshiba A305-S6919 and the HP dv5-1235dx. The website gave me time to narrow my choices before going back into the store to touch the different machines. My first trip was a little overwhelming, so many options, so much information to try and remember, the website let me shop at a slower more deliberate pace. I liked the HP, but did not like the glossy touchpad, too much drag on my finger. I liked the "special edition" design on the A305, but for $70.00 more? I went with the M305, the screen is smaller, but I like if better. The 15.4 felt a little too big once I looked at it in the store. Thanks again Best Buy. The store pick up option is wonderful, it allowed me the time to go home think about the 3 options, make a decision and order the next day. Great computer at a great price.

I added the MS Office Home and Student deal ($79.99) and a wireless Lexmark printer model x4650 ($34.99). All three for less than $900.00! I call this a great deal. Thanks again."
