What's great about it: The machine runs vell and quickly. The keyboard is truly a full size and has a nice feel to it.
What's not so great: To many programs that start in the background. Screen lacks contrast.
"I bought this computer a few days ago at my local Best Buy. It is a fairly nice machine. Infact, for the money it is a good buy. All the programs I have installed pull up quickly. The computer is also much quieter than my last one (Gateway Tablet).
The only things that I am disapointed in are the bloatware and the screen. HP had around 20 different programs set to start automatically when you turn on the computer. Yes they were easily marked to stop from the control panel, but what a pain.
My real issue is with the screen. There is very little real life contrast. The screen is bright, but while playing games, there is not enough contrast to see everything sometimes. Also, the viewing angle is very poor. You have to be right infront and at the same height as the screen or you can't see is well. It is even worse at viewing angle than my Laptops from ten years ago. I was telling my wife to look at something on my screen and she said she couldn't see it because the screen looked all grey. She was standing right next to me. I then switched her spots, and yep, all you see is grey ghost images.
As a value computer it is pretty good. However, if you plan on using it even for casual gaming, spend the extra $200-$350 and step up to the Asus or Gateway that Best Buy carries.
If you are looking for a well priced internet/wordprocessing/basic user computer with a 17" screen, this is a good buy for you."

What's great about it: Fantastic Price, Extra Bright Screen, Lots of Memory, and speed.
What's not so great: Just needs a separate graphics card.
"I couldn't be happier. This gift from my husband was the best I could ask for. I had a older Compact Presario it had 256mb of RAM and a 40g hard drive. The HP Webcam has a reallhy good resolution even in a dark room. I love the touch control panel. It makes it really easy for quick access. I would buy it again."

What's great about it: color, looks, size of harddrive & memory. price
What's not so great: size, doesn't feel like it's built as well as my others. Feels like it's made out of cheap plastic
"I bought this because I loved the look & color. Really wanted the 15.4 because I just think this is to big & because of the battery life on the 15.4. But, couldn't pass this up for the price. At the time this was 30 bucks cheaper. Overall it seems to be a great system. Have had it for a week. I don't have the problems with the letters on the keys as past reviewers do. I'm in the basement with little light & having no problems seeing the keys. I do like that this is set up like a regular keyboard, due to the fact I work on one all day I find this easier to use then my other laptops keyboard. Keys are real comfortable & I do love the look of the color of them. Great system for the price & I am getting used to the size. I am amazed how cooler this one is then my other HP that is only 2 yrs old. I can't feel the heat at all. You can throw away the cooling fan won't need it with this."

What's not so great: Windows Vista 64bit
"Great , huge screen and numeric keypad. The only problem is the Windows Vista 64bit that is even worst than 32 bit, I don't know how Microsoft has done a horrible operation system but that's not a HP fault. 9.5 to HP and 0.0 to Microsoft."

What's great about it: screen size and memory
What's not so great: battery life little short but its ok
"Was looking at an apple just browsing the bestbuy website saw it and was hooked. Good amount of memory in ram and HDD little heavy at times but will fade after I’ve had it awhile. Color and super glossy finish really makes it stand among other computers only problem leaves finger prints easily but not an issue unless your OCD overall very satisfied with buying it"

What's great about it: Great price! Great brand! Easy to use!
What's not so great: Nothing really, maybe the color - would have loved it in black or grey, but those colors are the norm - this stands out!

Great Laptop

What's great about it: Awesome Display,Fast,Does What I need to do
What's not so great: Color of Keyboard,A little heavy
"I bought this HP about 2 weeks ago. My very first one. I absolutely love it.
I did lots of research. I brought it Primarily for play on the net and WoW. Which it plays great, no problems from the computer unless my wireless signal is a little weak.
The Screen is LARGE! Plays movies wonderfully
Comes with a ton of hard drive and Memory.
Graphics card isn't the best but it works just fine, Would've liked the Nvidia
Keyboard nice with 10Key, color not so great, kind of hard to read at certain angles
Ports and Plugins I think they are in all fine places.
Weight, it's a tad heavy but that comes with the awesome size.
Price pretty fair, I would've love to buy it on sale though."

What's not so great: The computer came from the factory with a bad wireless card.
"Was kinda disappointed when I got the computer since I was unable to hook up to the internet. So I had to return the product the same day I bought it and had geek squad take a look at it. Come to find out the wireless card was no good. Other than this the computer seems to be really nice. Beautiful screen and display, runs fast. Even with a bad experience I am still a happy customer. You never know when something like this will happen to you. Just the luck of the draw I guess."

"I was in the market for a new laptop, I have used HP in the past. I was deciding between this one and the gateway with the massive hard drive storage. I choose the HP and I do not regret it. I absouletly love this laptop. Easy set up, you dont need back up discs or recovery discs . Unless of course you want to create a set just in case. Everything about this laptop is just wow!. It's easy to use. The only downside I have to this laptop is the fingerprints, which is easily taking care of because it comes with a cloth for cleaning the finger prints."

"I love this laptop just bought it like 2 weeks ago and havent had a problem since! Large screen that lives up to its HD name. Very fast and effient processor speed lots of HDD space. The only bad thing is the all the bloatware that comes installed on the computer that just takes up space. But thats easy to get rid off. Great buy for the $$ and definetly worth what i paid."

What's great about it: It's an HP. Good size HD. Lightscribe. Lots of RAM. 17 inch screen. Price.
What's not so great: Zero. Everything's great.

What's great about it: Numerical keypad; fun functions with webcam; looks good; HP games

"I seem to always waver between Sony and HP. It comes down to value for what I am getting and how sharp the screen/graphics. I ordered this one online so did not see the screen before hand. It is not as sharp as my last HP so I am a bit disappointed there. And it is slow to load up when I turn it on, but that is probably Vista's fault. But over all, I think I did the right thing by buying this HP over the Sony option I was looking at. I got a lot for the price I paid ($699). I have yet to try all its features, but look forward to spending some quality time with my new laptop."

What's great about it: Great laptop for the price. Everything I thought it would be and more!
"This was my first laptop I've purchased, so I was really skeptical about it. I shopped around a lot of different places and this was what I found. It has quite a bit extra over most of the other quality laptops for it's price and even the ones a little higher from what I could find. It's fast and has a nice sized screen. Since it's also a 17'' it has the extra number key pad so it's just like using your at home keyboard. Anyway, it has been awesome and I don't regret getting it at all!"
