What's great about it: Great price, Keyboard, Features
What's not so great: Battery Bulk, Volume, Touch Sensitive Volume, Mouse Clickers, Startup

"This laptop is overall great, but the touch sensitive volume can get really annoying (goes off by itself). In addition, if you want to play DVD movies on this laptop, the sound is really soft and hard to hear! I turned up all the volumes and tried everything, but it was still hard to hear. The sound is loud on everything else, though, just not movies.

Also, the MediaSmart on this always says it isn't working whenever I turn on my computer, and so this slows down getting to other stuff. In addition, the battery isn't flat, it's made so that when you stick it in, it sticks out (a whole chunk) from the bottom.

The clickers are really hard and make a loud clicking sound, and the area where you put your fingers to mouse over things is like a metal piece, so it tends to leave many grease-like marks.

Despite these flaws, it's a really nice laptop. My favorite feature on this, though, is the keyboard (keys feel very smooth) and the quality and features it has in all.

What's great about it: Battery, wireless card, attractive and comfortable
What's not so great: nothing yet

"I purchased an Asus laptop about a week ago and hated it. This laptop is basicallly the antithesis of that. The internet connection is consistant, it's FAR less prone to being covered in fingerprints, the keys feel much more solid, etc. I don't find any issues with the speaker volume as some have mentioned, and I really like the large battery; not only does it last a long time, but it provides space under the laptop for heat dissipation. I haven't run any games on it yet (but I'm confident that it will run WoW fine) but I'm very happy with this laptop."

What's great about it: alot of computer for a great price, good quality screen
What's not so great: short battery life

"This is my first laptop. i needed it so i could work from home and its perfect for that. the battery life is short, but i tend to keep it plugged in for the majority of the time. if you want a good home computer or work computer, this is it. not so great if you're going to be traveling because of the size."

What's great about it: good price.works great
What's not so great: finger prints, keys are a little hard to see

"i purchased this laptop at bestbuy several months ago.i've had no problem with this laptop.the battery is big but the angle it creates makes it easier to read the keys.it does get a lot of finger prints on it.most people will get over this .i don't use this laptop for business,i basically surf the web.i've used faster laptops but for the price your not going to find a better computer.my last laptop was a dell inspiron and this hp blows it away and was half the price.i 'm not a gamer or computer expert just an average user and this is a great deal.thanks best buy."

What's great about it: Price and performance
What's not so great: Ugliest Battery ever and lack of keyboard visibility due to glare.

".....it did seem to be a good laptop for the price and configuration. We bought this laptop based on all the great reviews here and to quite an extent the reviews do justice in terms of the laptop performance and it's price. But what came as a shock to us was the 'ugly and grotesque' 12-cell battery. In my opinion, the battery design from HP is poor and pathetic. The battery doesn't extend to the entire width of the laptop and if you notice, the laptop can actually shake even on a plane surface. Of course, the 12-cell makes it pretty heavy and not comfortable if you use it on your lap. Other reviews about the keyboard visibility is also very true as you can't see the keys clearly when under the lights which is a big -ve.

We would have liked to keep it but the poor battery design and keyboard issues made us sacrifice $100 (restocking fee) and return it. Wish the computer came with a 6-cell battery and in black color.

What's great about it: Everything; set up was easy, price was really good, display looks amazing
What's not so great: It is a little hard to see the keys due to the brownish colors and not really an outside laptop

"I bought this laptop about 2 months ago and I have not had any issues with it's use. I did automatically uninstall Norton because I have always had issues with it freezing up my pc's. As soon as I got the laptop out, I started the updates and registration; easy. It has plenty of USB ports with many options to choose from. The display is vivid and I am going into visual design so this is something I needed. The battery last for a pretty decent amount of time and honestly the bulk of the battery is barely noticed because it props my laptop up for me. I have had it on for several hours at a time and it does get a little warm ; however, nothing abnormal. It doesn't bother me at all. The only thing I really didn't like was the key color; it's brown with white lettering so its hard to see. Lucky I'm familiar with a keyboard. I haven't really noticed an abnormally amount of fingerprints building up on the surface and that would really bother me anyways. this computer is well worth the money. I recommend it to anyone."

What's great about it: Outstanding Battery Life, Bright Display, Good Processor, Spacious HDD
What's not so great: Low Sound, Touch Pad may cause problems, no bluetooth, prone to smudges and fingerprints

"My only problems I have been nitpicking, but my most major complaint is the low sound the speakers produce. In a small room, it's not much of a problem, but in a larger room and/or in a somewhat noisy environment, headphones would be suggested.

Overall, it's a good laptop. Basic processing such as Word, Email, and whatnot is just great. For more experienced users, Photoshop, iTunes, Media Converting is just fine. Gaming is alright. Games such as World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Spore, Sims 3 work well under moderate settings.

It's a fine purchase!

What's great about it: its a laptop, color
What's not so great: sound, cam, display

"I bought this laptop last year a day after christmas. A few months later the display wouldn't show up anymore. So I sent it into HP to get it fixed since it is still under warranty. Just got it back today and the display works but now the webcam is going. The webcam was perfectly fine before I sent it into HP. So I am going to call HP tomorrow and see what they say about it. Plus, the frame around the display was not on all the way and it is still lose and I can not fix it. Do not buy any HP products. Do not buy their laptops. Cause after a few months you will have problems with it."

What's great about it: FRIENDLY USE AND VERY EASY TO OPERATE
What's not so great: KEYBOARD VISIBILITY

"I have an old Toshiba that I have had for five years and from the day I bought it, it has never moved as fast as this HP. The Hp Pavilion Entertainment doesn't get as hot as Toshibas and Gateways. Also, the HP Pavilion battery doesn't get low in two, three, four, five, and six hours. The battery for this laptop/notebook is excellent. When considering purcharsing a laptop/notebook, put these factors in mind: processor, battery life, hard drive, and MB."

What's great about it: Easy to use and light weight. I opted for the 15" screen only it easier to take with you. Love it!!!
What's not so great: nothing so far...

"I had a Dell prior to buying this laptop, this is sooo much easier to use. I opted for the smaller screen cause it is so much easier to take with you. The display is awsome, very clear. I shopped around and found that this is the lap top everyone suggested I get. I love it!!! Great pick =D"

What's great about it: Out of the box set-up. Keyboard feels great
What's not so great: Relatively low resolution screen / video card, can't see keys in the dark

"Bought this laptop for home use and so far it's been great. Out of the box the laptop is pre-configured, just turn it on, connect to the internet and off you go. I read many reviews on the laptop before purchasing it, and agree that the battery is a little strange, but I've come to like it - it keeps the laptop elevated and cool, and makes the keyboard more ergonomic. I do wish that it had back-lit keys for use in the dark, as it's nearly impossible to see the letters with the screen glare off the keys. Other pluses would have been a bit higher resolution screen, something in the 1400's would have been nice - I'm used to running a laptop with extremely high resolution and find that I'm having to pan around a lot more. Overall, the laptop is great - a great computer at a great price!"

What's great about it: Fast, solidly built, good Wi-Fi connection, just good overall
What's not so great: Attracts finger prints easy

"This is definatley a Good purchase if your on a budget. Its fast, solidly built and has semi gaming capabilities. Though its not strong enough to play high end games like crysis, Doom 3 etc but it can still play some games. The keypad is solidly made the touch pad mouse is very nice has a smooth Finnish and is responsive over all if your looking for a entertainment laptop not solely for gaming this pc fits a budget and is perfect. But what do you expect its an Hp computer and there always good. One more thing if you looking for a cheap gaming laptop dont ever buy the Asus G50Vt-X5 model gaming laptop I had that laptop before this and it was trash yes it was definatley better for gaming then this one but the whole thing was flimsy the wireless internet cuts out way to much, It slowed down and froze alot and upon start up there were many blue screens so dont ever buy any Asus stuff."

What's great about it: Nice monitor, fast enough memory and processor
What's not so great: Bloatware, touch controls a bit flakey

"I bought this laptop to replace a 5 year old desktop that was on its way out. At the time it was top of the line, nvidia 6800gt ,1gb ram, 3200 AMD processor, etc.
This laptop will do everything that computer did and much more.

The only area that it is lacking is in the graphics. It will play DVDs, and older games like Counterstrike 1.6 just fine, but it will not play Crysis or Doom 3.

It has enough memory and processor speed to surf the net, edit pictures, download music, watch a movie, burn dvds, and many other tasks at the same time. I was very impressed with the way this computer handles multiple tasks.

The only down sides need a little explaining. The bloatware is just things that I don't really need, that I have to remove from the computer. Wildtangent games and other things like that. The other gripe isn't really a gripe, just an observation. The touch controls get finger prints on them and then do not respond, or they continuously change things by themselves. This can be remedied by cleaning the touch pad with a cloth.

If you do not use the geeksquad to set up your computer, be prepaired to spend a day or so downloading all the updates from HP and Misrocroft. If you don't know how or don't have the time, the geeksquad setup for around $40 is for you. Make sure that you make back-up disks, and do yourself a favor and get DVDs for this. It was going to take 20 cds or 3 dvds to make the recovery disks.

Overall, this is a very good laptop with only a few small items to take issue with. It will play CS at full res. without stutter, play dvds and surf the web without issue, and edit pictures and store plenty on the HD.

"I got this computer three weeks ago and it has been a life-saver. I am going to school and needed something I could rely on. I have no trouble with the internet connection, I am set up on a network and the basic programs are great. I am not a big gamer but what I do play is adequate.
