"I just bought this laptop today and I'm so enjoying it!!! I would like to comment on those people who thought this labtop isn't that good, you're dead wrong! The touchpad is not super sensitive(laughs) If you think it is go to the settings for the touchpad, duh. About the fingerprints, omg people there's nothing you can do about that. The sound on this laptop is pretty good in my opinion. Geek squad removed all those programs that come with the compter and they optimized it, which I thought was good. Now about the weight of the laptop, pfft come on its not even a little heavy. The battery life, alright people its pretty simple to just go the power management options or change the power plan, seriously explore the computer some more. Geek squad provided me with recovery disks(I got lucky on that). I saw a review on here about the LCD saying that broke after six weeks(chuckle) it was possibly a defective LCD duh. Overall this laptop is awesome for the price."

"I just went out and bought this new laptop and I have been playing with it for many hours. It is AMAZING! Some people complain about it being a fingerprint magnet....wellllll hey what do you expect when your fingers are all over it??? This laptop is AMAZINGLY fast!! I also purchased a Linksys router so I would be able to connect to the internet...I connected to the internet immediately after I installed my router on a desktop. Took all of 15 minutes! This laptop also has super silent keys! The webcam is great also! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING THIS LAPTOP!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!"

"GET A MAC............... though it might be pricey a mac its just BETTER................ well this laptop the first 3 months it said it didnt have a speaker system asking to install a speaker............. i unplug from the battery for a minute and leave(bathroom)by the time i come back its off.......... and i turn it on saying battery low....... and i have to plug it back in............ i have a router in one room and i am beside that room in another and i CANT go WIFI....it says the wifi signal is LOW.......... and its says ............. certified........in wifi......... NOT WORTH IT........."

"When I walked in Best Buy yesterday to buy a laptop this is the one I bought. This was by far the best laptop for the price they had. I received the computer with Geek Squad optimization, it runs really fast. The one thing I really like is there is no latch for the screen. The volume could go a little louder but it puts out plenty of sound. So far i have had no problems with the system except one thing, internet explorer 8. It keeps having difficulty opening myspace and facebook. Sometimes it wont go to certain websites, but just do an updated like I did and it runs fine. Norton Antivirus came free for 30 days, it runs GREAT. My past experience with Norton Antivirus is that it would slow down the computer while doing a scan..not on this machine. The graphics are great, the speed is excellent. Windows Vista Home Premium has some good features, I may upgrade to Ultimate soon. I really like this computer, it is definately worth the money."

"I got this laptop last week. I did about 3 months of research on every laptop on the planet, and this was the best. geek squad set it up. my problems are that the battery life sucks and that when i play sims 2 on it when not plugged in, the screen flickers. touch pad is supert sensitive and scroll is in an awkward spot. overall, not bad"

"I just picked this unit up recently from my local Best Buy. It took about an hour to get up and running but some of that was due to my not being familiar with Vista. With 3gb of ram and a 320gb HD the price is what got me. So far no disappointments. The display is bright and crisp and no matter what programs are running the unit is very quiet. Look at the specs, check reviews, look at prices, and try one out at the store. If nothing else this HP will be on your short list. This computer gives you some higher end options at a bargain basement price."

"I bought this laptop yesterday, and so far it is terrific. Keyboard is very convenient, keys nice and large with a good touch. Very good speed, loved the fact that it has 3 Gigs of ram for only $100 more than the 1-2 Gig laptops. Screen resolution is fabulous, though you have to get used to the glare. I'm not crazy about the shiny black cover, but that's no biggie. All in all, very happy, and I strongly recommend this laptop."

"I am a Dell user-- i have a Dell XPS for my main computer. I was looking for my 1st laptop and didnt want to spend a lot of $$ but i wanted a good computer. What i love-- fast speed (i am mainly using it for the internet at night)... , love the screen. Love the keyboards (doesnt have that glossy black like Dells studio has--smudges easily).., love the mouse- very easy to use, not tempermental. Overall i think its perfect for what i needed it for- (mostly internet use)... very happy with my purchase. On sale now at BB $550! It is a G wireless card- which is fine (even with my main computer being a faster -N)... I just bought the Linkys router with G... Worked great together... I'm all set up!"

"Okay, I waited about 3 months to give an accurate review and needless to say, I don't have a lot of bad stuff to say about it but a lot of good stuff instead.
Overall: A great laptop for students! It's light, thin & not bulky. You get more than what you pay for.
I did my research for a good month for the perfect laptop. I wanted something with with memory, a big screen, entertainment system, fast, and easy to use: This was the perfect one for the cheapest price. Other laptops are $150+ more expensive than this one for less than half the stuff on it. Great great great great great laptop for students. I love it.
For a better deal, call the nearest best buy and see if they have one in stock. It'll save you a good amount of $ on shipping & you don't have to wait. I got mine in the store and was out of there in less than 30 minutes but it would of taken over a week to get it delivered to me.
The Up-sides: It's easy to use, the keyboard is smooth & fast, battery charges fast, it has a webcam with good picture, the sound & videos are fabulous, and has a good amount of memory.
The Down-sides: The battery doesn't last long & gets hot very quickly, & the screen gets extremely bright at night & even during the day (I have to un-plug the charger to make the screen darker), and that's all I can think of."

"I recieved this as a gift for my birthday, and I am totally in love with it! It's got a huge screen, lots of storage space on the hard drive, and it is very fast. I didn't expect it to be so fast! I haven't stopped playing with it for almost a week. From what I can tell the battery is fine, it lasts much longer than the one on my husbands HP laptop, so I can't complain there. I am excited to try out the lightscribe feature.
This is my first laptop and the only things I can really complain about have to do with the screen. It's fine at night, during the day, with the curtains open it's kind of like looking in a mirror. It's fine if it's not so bright in the room, regular lights don't cause the mirror effect, just the sunlight. The picture while watching a video is excellent untill you set it to full screen, then it appears to be a bit fuzzy, but that may just be me. It is a bit loud when playing a dvd, not the sound, the actual dvd drive, but I don't know what any others sound like so I don't really think it is a problem.
It was $579 when it was bought 4/22/09, and it is $549 this week. Went to the store and they did a price match for me! Couldn't be happier with the whole experience!
It's taking a bit to get used to the layout, and I'm sure that's just because it's my first laptop. Overall for the money it is well worth it!"

"I bought this laptop after spending alot of time online researching many "entry level" laptops. I in fact ordered a IBM Lenovo at a discount site for around the same price which went back due to a keyboard defect. After going into BestBuy, talking to the salesman (very helpful) and trying a few different models out, I concluded that this one by far has the best configuration for the money. Unless you want the high end Centrino chip computer with the longer battery life and play alot of games, I would invest in this model. Spend a little more money and Read the reviews!!!!!!"

"Purchased this laptop on 4/26/09 and had the G-squad optimize it to remove junk software and update windows. We're really pleased with how this unit runs once it finishes booting up. The time it takes is rather long ( up to a minute or two) but is not indicitive on how it operates once it's running. The display is great and I have no problems loading my software and setting up the computer for my needs. The HP laptop my kids were using was five years old, running XP with a celeron and was getting pretty slow. So I gave them my DELL 1525 that runs great after a year and they're are now happy. As I was setting up the computer and moving it around, I noticed that somthing was rolling around inside the computer. Since it was brand new I took it back the following day, the G-squad replaced and switched hard drives. Best Buy has excellent costumer service, I was in the store for about 15 minutes. I highly recommend buying from them. I would like to see this same computer be sold with a step up to a core 2 or centrino instead of all the ballons and ribbons offered on their high end laptops. For the price and what you get, I don't see how Best Buy will be able to keep in stock, Go buy one NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I just got this laptop on Saturday. My husband and I purchased a HP desktop back in 2003. We’ve had it for about 6 years now. We took it into Best Buy to have a diagnosis test done because we’ve been having some problems with it. Nevertheless, it was time to put Old Bessie to rest. We could have spent the money to have it fixed but we were looking into getting laptops anyway. So it was my lucky day and my hubby brought mine first... This computer is well worth the money spent. It is meeting ALL my expectations so far. The resolution is just fine to me and the keys are so Quite!! I love the fact that the number pad is just like my desktop because I bring work home sometimes. How awesome to be in bed working... I have always been an HP guru and would recommend this to anyone!!"

"This is a great laptop, for the price. I bought this because it was so inexpensive and had a large hard drive space with extras and to replace an Acer Aspire laptop, which I consider junk.
The video resolution is excellent on this hp laptop. I watch movies on it all the time and have no complaints. Only thing I can see wrong with it, is the sound is not so great. My Acer had way better sound quality then this one, but considering I've now got way more hard drive space and a very quick computer I'll take the trade off. Also you can get a usb sound card which will improve sound quality. They run about $30.
I also like the fact that this has a number pad. A very handy thing to have, on a laptop. The lightscribe is another neat feature that this laptop has and allows you to burn whatever image you want onto your dvds. Beats always writing on them with a Sharpie. Just remember to burn your info, onto the dvd, before using the lightscribe feature. You need special lightscribe media, also.
Another downside to this laptop, is the battery life is not too great, but I have yet to see a laptop which it does. It was not a big thing for me, as I generally keep my laptop plugged in, most of the time.
It also does not have an express card slot, so if you are looking for that you should avoid this one. Again, it was not a big issue for me. Also does not have bluetooth, once again this was something that I'm not that all interested in having at this moment.
It doesn't come with recovery disks, not a big thing, since I have not seen any computer, in the last 8 years coming with them. You can make the recovery disks from this laptop with no problem and also the recovery is built into a seperated drive on this laptop, so you can do a recovery without the disks. I still would recommend making the disks, just to be on the safe side.
The keyboard is layed out nicely, but it is a bit bulkier then most laptops. It is pretty solid feeling, not flimsy at all, which leads me to believe the outside will at least hold up for a good amount of time, something my Acer failed to do.
I highly recommend giving this hp laptop a try. The price is right, for a large amount of hard drive space and quickness. If you don't mind doing without some of the above mentioned this is the way to go in laptops."

"I bought this laptop about a month ago. It's everything I could've asked for. My old laptop was 6 years old so I came from something pretty outdated and running on it's last leg. I'm not a big gamer, I just use my computer for the internet, iTunes, etc. The speed of this computer and quality of the display is well worth the price.
The only downside I have found so far has been getting use to Vista. I haven't had any real problems with the operating system, it's just very new to me."

"This is my 2nd HP laptop. My old one was 4 years old and finally needed to be replaced. I looked several places online and this laptop provided the most features and HD space for the least amount of money - 320 GBs and 3GBs of memory. It never freezes up and always stays cool. My last one used to get burning hot on the bottom.
Best Buy offers a great deal. SO glad I stayed with HP too. It's just like my old laptop just much, much better. So fast and easy to use. I have had no problems with it so far. I'm just as happy or happier with Windows Vista over XP. It's also so much lighter and portable than my old laptop. I mostly use it at home but I do travel with it once in a while. I have zero regrets about my decision and I researched a lot of laptops and different web sites.
As far as the screen brightness that changes, you can control it by holding down the Fn key and hitting f7 or f8 to brighten or darken the screen. This has nothing to do with Vista. My old HP laptop had a similar keyboard. It used to drive me crazy before I finally figured it out."
