What's great about it: shreds several sheets of paper at the same time
What's not so great: The opening is a bit awkward to get paper started
The only thing I dislike about this shredder is that sometime it is a bit awkward to put paper thru the slot to shred. Other than that it does a very good job.
I would recommend this to a friend!

For the price you cant beat it, but do NOT try to put in more than 4 pages at a time, it will jam up.

What's great about it: Powerful options and the price!!!!!

This shredder is by far the best i have seen for a home shredder as i got it on sale & its powerful and has allot of features the cd & the credit card shredder works great & neither made the shredder slow down. As for the paper it does a great job compared to my old royal that died this will take a very thick paper up to 6 sheets and 8 sheets on the thinner papers . It will slow down just a little with heavy paper and it did NOT jam up like other reviews on here so they claimed i even tried to let the paper build in the basket til it was being sucked up into the blades & no jam for me after i emptied the basket it just cleans itself out with the first sheet of paper ran through . As for the run longevity it will shred for long periods of time as it got mildly warm and never shut down as i ran my YRS of documents through it i figure i ran it for three 10 min sessions i did let it cool down between sessions . All in all if your looking for the quality shredder this is the one for your home..

First review I've ever written but with all the bad reviews with this shredder I wanted to post about my experience with it. I have owned this unit for over 8 years and I can tell you it has shredded thousands of pages. It sits in the hallway so everyone in the office area can feed documents.
Here's the good. I feed way to many sheets at times. It either slows way down and starts to smell or it jams and I hit reverse to clear it. It just keeps going even though it should burn out.
The bad: Yup, the paper builds up between the blades and the housing but it keeps shredding anyway. It helps if to push down the shreds so they don't build up to the blades. Also, I don't use the oil because it builds up on the auto switch, turns gummy and makes the switch stick.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have owned this shredder for approximately 2 years and have had no problem with it even though once in a while I exceed capacity. I use it all the time including shredding old credit cards. As far as the others who have had problems, my thought is that they overuse it a or needed a business shredder.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this for ocassionally shredding papers containing personal information. It started off working well, then after about a month, it seems to overheat and stop. I've never "maxxed" it on capacity, nor have I ever put anything heavy such as thick paper or credit cards in it, yet with around 4 sheets it moves slow and after a few rounds of shredding, it quits.
Maybe I just got a lemon, but I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

Not worth the money

What's great about it: Shreds into confetti, large bucket
What's not so great: Stopped working
My last shredder lasted a year which I thought was good considering it was $20. I wanted a more substanial shredder and this one looked like it would fit my needs. I love how it shreds the paper into confetti so I'm more at ease with my personal information. This shredder was working really good for the first month. It shredded everything smoothly without jams. Then a month later it won't shred at all. I have to adjust the cord to try to get it to work but its a hassle and makes me upset that I've owned this thing for 4 months and now its broken.

What's great about it: Pull it out of the box and it works
What's not so great: nothing so far is bad about it
This is realy good so far. It dose everything it says.After reading the other reviews I had doubts but This shredder proved its self to me. You have to empty it when it needs emptyed and run paper thru it with oil like it says to keep it working like it should but thats normal. It is strong and does every thing like it should with no problem.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Minimal power, jams a lot, randomly stopped working
At $51, with a 4 gallon capacity, this Dynex shredder seemed like a great value for the occasional shredder like myself. It claimed to be able to shred up to 8 papers at one time. However, this shredder would often get paper jams with only 1 or 2 pieces of paper put in. Then one day it just completely stopped working....no paper jam, no power surge....just stopped. At least it can double as a garbage pail for now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: I actually had the entire unit replaced twice.
What's not so great: Jams horribly for no reason.
Looks great in your home but that is all it is good for. The manufacturer actually replaced my shredder twice (jammed twice under warranty) but hated the inconvenience. The third one has just jammed and I am moving on...

What's not so great: Requires constand maintenance then still freezes.

What's not so great: Keep having to get paper out from between blade
Just brought this shredder 1 week ago. I have to empty the basket too often compared to my old shredder. Also, the paper keeps getting stuck under the lid where the blades are located. I am constantly having to pull out a lot of pieces of paper from under the lid. This is going back to the store. I would not recommend this one if you are in the market to buy another shredder for home use. I won't be looking for another diamond cut shredder. Only cross strip like mine that broke.
