What's great about it: comes with less "useless" software than most
What's not so great: 3 parttitions weird hd division but not bad thing..fingerprint magnet

"i bought this to replace a more expensive vx3 which i simly cant afford to take on the road with me, being a truck driver. so far this is a very surprising machine for $549.00. the 64bit vista may not be to everyones liking check software compat. at microsoft BEFORE you buy. speed is quite good screen is clear keyboard is a little further up than im used too but its not a big deal. i also have another AMD mobile notebook which is why i went with the amd again,and price is a little better i dont need a powerhouse for what im using this for. memory can be upgraded to 4 gb this will happen next. there is a bluetooth lite if it works i dont know. in summary for the money this is a good buy if you need a basic inexpensive well featured notebook."

"I bought this laptop because it seemed like a reat package for the price. I was right!!! It has alot of memory and storage. It has a great display. The sound quality is good for a laptop. I mainly use it for internet access and some games. A few things you should know before buying it. It is a 64 bit machine. It has some (not many) compatability issues wth some programs. There seem to be fixes for most of them. I have a Palm Smartphone and Hotsync does not work with the cable. I had to buy a bluetooth adapter to sync my phone with my new computer. It was an easy fix. The computer is setup to recieve bluetooth devices, it just doesn't have the hardware. Other than that, I love this computer!!!"

What's great about it: Easy to set up, very comfortable to type on keyboard, wide screen and more!
What's not so great: Fingerprints on near keyboard area but not bother me.

"When I first purchased this laptop. I noticed how much can see fingerprints but that doesn't bother me at all because I focus on screen the most. Overall the laptop is great!! No problem at all! I would suggest this to friends and family!"

"I purchased this laptop because of the fantastic price and the specs looked great. My 4-year old dell laptop was super slow. I had been through 3 ac adapter cords, and the keys were falling off. I did read some of the other reviews discussing the keyboard, but I figured I would get used to it. I tried for a week and could not get used to the position of the keys. The volume controls were nice. However, I found the laptop too bulky and heavy. It is a nice laptop, but it just was not for me. I returned it on Sunday, and I purchased a macbook."

"I just bought my first laptop and I walked out not feeling guilty about my purchase but in shock that I found such a great bargain. I love that it comes with a webcam. I was told I got a bad purchase by fellow laptop users but I disagree. I use my laptop for school and I want a big screen. I don't plan on travelling with my laptop its more because router is in a creepy basement and i refuse to do my homework in the basement. I am a college student and my classes are all on-line.I love my new laptop and its perfect for my needs. I highly recommnd this affordable laptop."

"Coming from a Macbook (core2duo 2.0), I was prepared to be let down... boy was I surprised!!! Better screen and much faster, even running Vista 64-bit which everyone in the media pretty much bags on. Listen people, if you're not a hardcore gamer or video editor, you really don't need anything more powerful than this thing. I had been a MAC convert for 10 years, before deciding to try a Windows machine again. I'm glad I did!"

"I went to Best Buy trying to by a Toshiba laptop and ended up going with the Gateway for $50 more because of the extras. It has the MS Vista Home Premium 64 Bit Operating system that will allow the RAM to be upgraded at a later date and the 250 GB hard drive should hold lots of pictures. I"

"I bought this laptop last week and i must say that i am very impressed with it. it runs great, starts up fast and shuts down fast too. the display is awesome and the sound is pretty good too. i seem to have the problem a few others are having with the keyboard. it just seems like i have to hit the keys a little harder but it seems to be getting better. i agree with the fingerprints, it attracts alot but nothing a simple cloth cant fix. all in all, a great buy for a great price"

"This is a great computer with a good display and has great features. The media functions is what mostly attracked me to this computer but after I got it I realized how awesome the whole computer is. The speakers are great the keyboard works great. The only thing thats not so great it seems to attract fingerprints like crazy. But for the price and the awesome features I am willing to put up with the fingerprints. I would definetly recommend this laptop to everyone."

"This is my first laptop after months of searching and it was worth the wait. The performance is excellent. I don't know why there were complaints about the keyboard but it is very easy to use. It really looks very slick, and the screen is really great. Overall no complaints. Vista has given me no problems, don't hesitate on this one it's a steal!"

"I have used many laptops in the past. Everything from HP,DELL,ACER, etc etc etc.......
But this laptop is by far the greatest laptop for the price. Performance, speed, looks, and overall everything exceeded my expectations!!!! If I had to compare it, I would say that it out performs my sisters $1200.00 HP laptop my sister bought 3 months ago. As far as the keyboard thing, I don't have any problem with it at all. Its more compact than a PC keyboard of course, and might take a little getting used to, but thats to be expected. all laptop keyboards are pretty much the same. If you have the money to spend, and I really don't know who does now a days, then sure spend the money and go buy a MAC, they do ROCK!!!!!! The bet thing about em is the fact that you have a .0001% of ever getting a virus, but if you want a BAD A** laptop for the price, THIS ONE IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!"

What's great about it: Great specs for the price, perfect for someone who doesn't need their lap top to be super mobile.
What's not so great: The keyboard takes a little getting used to.

"Went to Bestbuy to buy a smaller/cheaper Acer, but decided to go with the Gateway because it looked great, had a good price and specs. I've had it for about a week, and no major issues so far. It's perfect for my needs (need mobility of laptop, but laptop mostly stays at home), so it's got a nice large screen.

I think the keypad is large enough to add in a full number pad, but they chose not to do it in lieu of the touch buttons. The keyboard takes a little getting used to, and has a pretty loud click, so if you are using this in a classroom.. it might get annoying for others."

Good Looks - Horrible Keyboard 01/20/2009

What's great about it: HDMI, 16:9 screen
What's not so great: Awful Keyboard, Finger Prints, no Bluetooth, only 3G memory

"Bought this laptop because the fantastic specs (AMD Dual Core, HDMI, 4 USB,) and the amazing low price. Had it for about a week now and I just can't get used to the keyboard - looks nice, but only randomly I am hitting the correct keys - and I am usually a good typer.
After setting up Vista and working on it for a couple hours (I only used the preloaded software), I got the "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" 09F. Not exactly sure what the error is (per google it could be Hardware, Driver, ...error). Maybe I just bought a lemon, but scares me. This error happened now 7 times and the laptop is going back to Best Buy. I will probably go with a MAC."

"I have had it for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. 250gig hard drive is awesome, i love having so much space. Computer's speed is great, I can download,burn dvds and surf the web all at the same time with no problem. Burning DVD's are convenient and awesome on this laptop. I have burned 10 of my movies and they all work fantastic. It boots up quick and has a nice battery life. Web cam is clear and works nice. Overall this was a great buy and i am 100% happy with it."

What's great about it: appearance, setup, speed/efficiency, plenty of space (3GB, 250GB hardrive), the fact that there even is a webcam
What's not so great: keyboard sucks, mouse jumps around a little bit, webcam coloring and lighting wierd/not very good webcam software

"Overall, this laptop was a great purchase. I love that there is more space on here, considering my old desktop computer was so slow & frustrating. I like the Vista, but obviously that opinion varies depending on the person. Webcam's pretty good, the lighting is a bit off but that's fine. And I'm about to download a different, better webcam software because the one on here isn't that exciting. Kinda bulky but not intending on taking this everywhere. The keyboard definitely sucks...the mouse skips around a little bit...but not that huge of a problem, just takes some getting used too i guess. I've only had it for about a day now and overall it's pretty good! and good price.. BUY IT :)"
