This is a MSI netbook that I recieved for christmas. It does very well for a small laptop. My suggested improvement are to keep up the good work and make a battery that can last 6 hours not 3 hours. What a Great product otherwise, I would reccomend this to a friend!
What's great about it: Easy to use, ultra portable, long wireless network range
What's not so great: Suggested Improvement: Longer battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

does what it is suppose to but the extended battery is a rip off. You really need to try one of these out before buying. mouse jumps and moves all over the screen and stops working right in the middle of doing something, have put a laser mouse on and it does the same.
What's great about it: quick start up light weight
What's not so great: 6 hr battery lasts about 2.5

Most users seem to expect from this netbook to be a notebook or a desktop computer. I think netbooks are meant to be light weighted, to have a good wifi connection, a good display - to me netbooks are all about convenience. This is a very cheap netbook, it's light, it has a good wifi connection, its screen is great for Microsoft Office. Honestly, I couldn't ask for more. I'm very satisfied with my MSI Netbook. It's not a Vaio Notebook, but I also didn't pay for one.
What's great about it: Convenience
What's not so great: Short Battery Life
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had this since march and i def got what I paid for. It is now December and 90% of the time the computer "forgets" it is wireless. I have to plug the cable in to remind it. Things turn on and off when they want like currently i have things popping up all over the place for a drive not in use. I can't wait till Feb when I buy a new computer in no way associated with MSI. I am going to take this "laptop" that has been nothing but a paper weight, smash it, and ship it back to MSI with my thoughts on this product with my receipt from Best Buy showing it is less than 1 yr old.
What's great about it: small
What's not so great: no cd drive, to many issues to list
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

this is a really sweet machine once you pull windows XP off it....i'm running linux and it's super fast....small keyboard takes some getting used to, but that's to be expected with any netbook....opt for the 9 cell battery
What's great about it: simple
What's not so great: short battery life

I had a problem with battery not holding charge. BB sent me an entire new computer in a week and the new one works fine. I tested my new battery, fully charged to dead- 3 hrs and 16min. I thought that was okay. I always plug it into a wall so it really not a huge issue.
As far as the small keyboard, your fingers adapt within the first few times using it. Overall a great little netbook and have recommended it.
What's great about it: very fast, easy to set up, good price
What's not so great: battery problem, replaced entire computer

In response to cjcasey, please don't rely on Best Buy's "geeks" to be knowledgable about this. The fact is that the ram is easily expandable with a 1 GB DDR2-5300 SODIMM, which runs about $15. MSI has changed policy, and no longer voids the warranty by adding ram. Just unscrew 9 screws on the bottom, the last of which is under a small white "warrant void if removed" sticker. Gently snap the bottom off, and the slot is exposed for the extra ram. It is easily a 10 minute job and greatly helps perfomance. Do a youtube search for a video.
What's great about it: Good performance, ram easily upgradable
What's not so great: short battery life, weak wifi

Bought this netbook in March 09. Had to take it in for service, the battery quit working on it. Now being told that there are not replacement parts. They are replacing it, but I don't know if I will go with the same brand. Had read before purchasing that this was suppose to be one of the best netbooks around. If no parts are available then what is the use.

Went to Best Buy to upgrade the ram as it says I can on the website. Was told the only way to upgrade it is to mail it back to MSI. The RAM is soldered in and their is no access panel. The unit has to be disassembled to get at the RAM, then unsoldered the old RAM and solder in the new RAM.
You get no setup instructions. Found out that you have to push Fn + F11 to turn on the WiFi card. It's default setting is Off and the software shows it as "disconnected".
Other then that the unit runs as expected. Surfs the web great, will handle large pictures well and runs Streets and Trips but not fast.
What's great about it: Small, lightweight, compact.
What's not so great: Can not upgrade RAM

The MSi net book I purchased arrived with a monitor problem (grainy sub-menus) and the internet did not work. Live customer service is not available and you need to communicate with tech "support" via email. I am sending it back for another brand.

I had Lenovo S10, MSI U100 and Samsung NC10. Comparing all of them the best price value add is the MSI. It cost around 330 with taxes, plus 20 dolllars for an extra 1G memory you will have a nice net for 350 dollars. Lenovo is good and fast, but the MSI has better display, sond, and Keyboard. Samsung is great, very similar as MSI regarding display and keyboard, with one item better.. the 6 hours battery. The NC10 with extra 1G memory and 6 cells battery will cost to you an extra 120 comparing to MSI. So for this reason if you are looking a best price performance and a value add machine the MSI gives to you all you need to have for a very reasonable price
What's great about it: Keyboard excelent and clear display
What's not so great: Battery time and touchpad not 2D

Fantastic computer. My friend bought a comparable asus and the MSI is much better in construction and function. The Asus is already having problems with the webcam. The Asus however has a tighter hinge if that is somethign you are looking for. The only thing i hate is that the speakers are terrible. I use my headphones most often. I researched all of the mini's at the time and took a chance on this one based on reviews. Definately the PC for you.
What's great about it: Laptop is great. Overall better quality then the asus.
What's not so great: mouse is a little sensitive and i bump it sometimes while typings. The speaker system is terrible versus the ASUS

I have owned countless gadgets over the last twenty years and this netbook is the only one I can remember that has exceeded my expectations. First off I want to say I was a bit hesitant about netbooks. I love my computers powerful and fast and the ideal of a netbook that had comparable speed with some Celeron chip initially turned me off. But I gave in, and bought the MSI Wind U100 and have never looked back. The speed is comparable to a $1,000 + laptop from three years ago. Faster than an iBook from two years ago. And all this for $300. I added the 1GB of RAM that took the netbook to 2GB and I have to say I have never been happier. I think this particuler one will be sold out soon because techie insiders will buy this thing up because we all know a good thing when we see it. Incredible machine.
What's great about it: Surprisingly fast, especially if you run XP and add the extra 1GB of RAM to boost to 2GB
What's not so great: Battery Life

I'm not a computer guru so I tend to learn as I need something. I keep this with me all the time and as I've been able to sit with friends who are more savy I can ask questions and get answers to take home for use on my desktop. I take a lot of pictures and can view and show them on something better than my little camera screen. I also do a lot of brainstorming in places other than my desk and can grab it, flip it on, make notes and go back to what I was doing as fast as the ideas come and go. I'm sure many more people will do much more but it's just perfect for me. Not too much and just enough.
What's great about it: portability is perfect
What's not so great: nothing yet

This is the best netbook ever mass-produced! When you click on Internet Explorer, it immediately shows up. The keyboard and mousepad is extremely easy to get used to. It also has a massive hard drive for a netbook. The desgin is also well done. The 1.3 MP webcam is surprisingly good.
The only thing that may prevent you from getting this is that you have to buy your own CD Drive, but who cares?!
BUY IT!!!
What's great about it: Fast Internet, Webcam Clarity, Size, Screen Size, keyboar, mousepad, and it just works!
What's not so great: External CD Drive

So pulled this thing out of the box, turned it on and let the start up go. Soon as it finished i attempted to log into my wireless router. But alas nothing, after an hour of messing with it i took it to work to see if it was my router, again nothing. So fast forward 20 hours of reading up posts on the web and it took 2 solutions to get it to work. First the Drivers for the wireless MUST be updated, and secondly if still can not connect to your router, Try turning on WEP 128bit encryption. Once i did that it connected and away i went.
I am extremely impressed with this little machine and can't wait to put it thru its paces now. Highly recommend this machine even with this little quirk

I've thrown a lot at this computer. I've installed Vista and it even runs with Areo turned on. It can open multiple tabs on my browser and a few programs at once. It starts up quick and in general, speeds through most programs. The wireless range is great and is very fast.
The keyboard needs some adjusting but only on the keys that aren't letters. The letters are almost fullsized but the rest are jammed in there pretty tight.
What's great about it: Light and fast.
What's not so great: The battery lasts about 2 hours on a good charge but thankfully the charger isnt very bulky.
