What's great about it: set up, price, screen,
What's not so great: Wish it were smaller
For the price, this laptop is excellent. I set it up quickly and downloaded the updates with ease. This is my 2nd Toshiba Satellite and they have withstood my two year putting jelly in the DVD drive and numerous drops. The laptop does not get too hot and the battery lasts just over two hours

What's great about it: Simple, Perfect, Fast and Solid Support
What's not so great: You need to change the antivirus and antispy software that comes with it.
It is the total package of a top performing laptop that would normally cost $1500, but this costs less than $300 to walk out of the store. It does games, finances, emails, facebook and everything else at the click of a mouse. I do recommend upgrading to a toprated Antispy and Antivirus software that is usually free from one of the download sites. The product it comes with will slow things down considerably and only do have the job, but that is not a Toshiba or Best Buy product. They are perfect!

What's great about it: fast and reliable awsome computer great price
What's not so great: the trackpad is very sensitive so sometimes your screan will strart multiplying
This computer is so wonderful it works well and fast. It is sturdy and has a large screen. This is our first laptop and it is a good first laptop. It is very sensitive on the trackpad and if you just tap it a few times it will start stacking or multiplying the screen it has only happened twice. A great feature is the toshiba dvd player it is very nice works great and is nice for travel. overall a great computer!!

What's great about it: it has loud speakers and it's fast on line
What's not so great: battery last only 2 hrs
i went online looking for a nice laptop at a cheap price and i found it.
i got this laptop in the mail 2 days ago and i cant keep my hands off it.
i have wi fi in the house so im going room to room with it.
i like that it has a dvd burner in it to make movies or copy of it.
i think if your looking for a nice pc at a cheap price than this is it.

What's great about it: It is a light weight laptop and is easy in use. The price was right for the time.
What's not so great: Needs a better working system. Flickers when you turn on. No web cam.
The laptop is great for someone who needs a quick inexpensive laptop. Its not the fancist laptop in town, but it will get the job done. It does have some little quirks like the flickering here and there sometimes. I have been able to go on the internet and download other runninng programs. Will need to get a external hard drive in the future beause there is only 4Gb RAM. Purchasing an external mouse would be better on your hands, works with most mouse accessories. The Basic Vista program is alright, but it would be good to have a system program installed that is used everyday if possible. The look of the laptop is simple yet do-able. Great for a 1st time college student or a high school student.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have only had this computer for about a week, but so far it works great. I will start back to school in a few weeks and I am sure it will be a great asset.

What's great about it: Price, light weight, touchpad
What's not so great: nothing really
When I saw the price ($349), I thought the reviews would not be very good...but they were quite good! I have owned it for 3 weeks, and use it mostly for web surfing and Microsoft Office (I installed Office 2000 which works with this 32 bit Vista). I like how you can drag your finger down the side of the touchpad and the screen will scroll. Maybe that is common these days? - I had not seen it before. One of the first days I had it, it seemed to shut down and restart once by itself, but I think it installed a Windows update and was configured to restart automatically after an update. I changed that setting and it has not happened since. The screen can have a fair amount of glare in bright rooms but it looks like a lot of computers in the store have that (this happens more on dark or black screens). It has a bigger screen, but does not weigh much more than the 14.1" Dell I used for work. Just wish I had gotten the $299 price advertised now!

What's great about it: The Price for what your getting
What's not so great: No pointer joy stick like my Tecra
I had a painfully slow, but great OLD OLD Toshiba laptop Tecra model, but it lacked the hard drive space and speed. I don't play games, so this new L305-S5919 Toshiba was just the ticket. If you need a value priced laptop with Toshiba quality, this may just work for you. It is perfect for me. What will take some getting used to is the mouse pad. I will miss my joystick button and scroll button set up that I have on the Tecra. For 1/4 of the price of a new Tecra, I'll get used to it.
Best Buy store matched thier online price of 300 and I was out the door for just that plus tax! Great deal!!

What's not so great: Easily Overheat, its loud, short battery life, pin break off easily from mother board that allow the battery to charge
At first after purchasing the laptop everything seems great, after a couples months I notice it keeps shutting off unexpectedly it gets very hot at times, I cant even keep it on my lap. Thinking that it couldnt get worse I realized one day while I was charging it the battery light wasnt on the pin had broken off, I could feel the section moving; many of friends have this problem with the pin been broken off
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just bought this puppy for $299+tax. Got it so my kids could surf the web, facebook and download. That way they are not messing up my nice laptop and desktop. $299 is a steal. Heck, my Ipod Touch cost more than that. They can treat it how they want. Read the other posts... Not sure what people expect at a $300 price point.

What's great about it: The priice is great!
What's not so great: they put in 2 single 1 gb memory cards, therefore to upgrade you have to dump some of the memory. Battey life is short
Before u know it your battery's gone in about or less than 2hours.
As with most laptops these days it seems, you only get trial software. Microsoft Office etc
I would have preferred to have had WIN XP Pro on this machine than STUPID ANNOYING VISTA. And it's the lowest end Vista (HOME BASIC) I'm told by Toshiba that removing Vista for XP Pro MAY void the warranty. What's "MAY"?? It's either a yes or a no.

What's great about it: Nothing great. Just ok.
The graphics and speed are no better than my four year old Acer, which I'd still be using except I really used and abused it 24x7 for the last 4 years. It travelled with me everywhere, has been dropped generally mistreated. I paid about the same price for the Acer 4 years ago.
I really hope the Toshiba holds as well.
Anyway... I guess I really had high expectations. I expected better performance than a four year old computer.
I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHETHER OR NOT IT'S THIS COMPUTER IN GENERAL OR ALL COMPUTERS IN THIS PRICE RANGE THESE DAYS, SO THIS REVIEW MAY BE UNFAIR.
Also, maybe the hardware is fine and it's just Windows Vista that is terrible.
The bottom line is that the value seems ok for the money, but it's nothing to get excited about.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

just bought this laptop a week ago and it performs great i had to go to the control panel and adjust the mouse and the speaker volume and i also had to download a patch for the media player other than that it is super it connects easy to wi fi spots too

What's great about it: Fast, Big, cheap, better than most expensive models. it even has side vents so it dosn't get so hot.
What's not so great: all is good
I just wanted a computer for school and multimedia, but i didn't know i was about to get a awsome computer for such a good price. the battery last long, its light weight, the keys are easy to see and find. I would recommend this computer to everyone of ALL ages.

I had a very expensive Dell crash on me in the middle of a road trip. We were relying on the Dell for GPS navigation. I stopped at a Best Buy and asked for the least expensive laptop in the store. It was an entry level Toshiba for $350.
The $2,800 high end bells and whistles Dell ended up going through two new hard drives before I shelved it. That was three years ago. The "cheap"Toshiba became my main machine. I did a memory upgrade for around $50 but that's it. When it came time to buy some laptops for our business, I grabbed four of these new "cheap" laptops. I've discovered that, with computers, if you don't mind waiting, laptop technology that was "killer" and cost $2,500 ends up being under $500 a couple of years later. It's still "killer", it's just not the latest version of "killer".
If you're looking for a machine that can handle intense 3D graphics for gaming, this is probably not a good choice. For the other stuff..internet, word processing. it's plenty of machine and an unbeatable value. Our original Toshiba handles video editing, which can be hard on a processor, easily after the memory upgrade.
