What's great about it: Fast and was on sale

I bought a couple of these on sale, and have been happy with them so far.
Copying an 11gb file to them takes about 20-25 minutes. (A comparable sandisk drive took an hour to copy the same file to).
The only complaint I have is the cap. At first, I was unable to 'remove' the cap, then I realized my error, and was able to push the cap 'open' so the drive portion is exposed. I only wish once you exposed the cap, the little slide mechanism would stay in place better. As it is, when the drive is 'open', the slide portion will move around a bit. Not a huge deal, but it got in the way a couple of times when putting the drive into my computer.
I probably would have bought the 'compact' version if it had been on sale, as this drive is a little 'big' in comparison.

With loads of capacity this would be a terrific flash drive, but the protective cap is difficult to manipulate.

What's great about it: IT'S SMALLER THAN DVD'S AND MORE PORTABLE THAN OTHER DEVICES

THIS IS THE SECOND FLASHDRIVE I HAVE BOUGHT IN THIS BRAND A 16GB AND A 32GB. I GOT THIS BECAUSE ONE OF MY LAPTOPS NEEDS ABOUT 22 GB TO SAVE THE FILES. NEITHER FLASH DRIVE WORKED AS PURCHASED.
THEY HOLD ABOUT 4.1 GB THEN ABORT ANY BACKUP REQUIRING MORE SPACE UNLESS YOU REPLACE IT WITH A SECOND FLASHDRIVE. I TOOK THE 16 GB UNIT TO BESTBUY WHERE THEY SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REFORMATTED (GATEWAY LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS XP) AND THEY FIXED IT. I TOOK THE 32GB TO BESTBUY AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT IT STILL STOPS AT 4.1GB. IPLAN TO GO BACK WHEN I CAN BUT THE ROUNDTRIP IS ABOUT 100 MILES. What's great about it: Great capacity for such a low price....
I didn't have any idea how much memory I would need to back up all of my family's pictures and videos, but now I have every vacation pic and school play from 2002 on...all on this one flash drive. I'm very happy I picked it up at such a great price.

What's not so great: Capless design with sliding cover
What you get is not what is pictured. You get a capless drive instead. I don’t like the new capless drive. It does not protect the contact area as well as a cap does. Why PNY changed a perfect design for an inferior one, I don’t know. It must be an attempt to copy what other brands are doing for the people who have trouble loosing things. I’m disappointed.

Had some issues copying files to the drive. It kept saying it was full, but it was only using 10 of 32 GB.

What's great about it: cover, color, hole for a chain to be inserted
What's not so great: NOTHING its all good
I find this particular flash drive great. VERY Fast downloads or uploads. The newer ones do not have a cover so the exposed USB connection area can get wet. With the cover on this, it does not get wet and I am sorry to say I grabbed the last two 32 gig thumb drives because they don't make this model anymore. In addition, I LOVE the hole on one side so I can put it through a chain to keep track of it or even wear it around my neck or on a key chain. The newer models are cheap looking and don't have this option. IN addition, they are color coded: Green for 32 gig, blue for 16 gig and red for 8 gig. If you can even find the older models GO BUY them before they are gone! I have all of them!

...I'm not thrilled with the design. The USB has a totally detachable "cover" that when in use, doesn't really have a home. It sits on my desk or in my laptop bag, and it's only a matter of time, I fear, before I lose it.
The SanDisk Cruzer design -- where the USB acts like a turtle's head sliding in and out of a pseudo-shell -- is superior.
But for just about $1 per GB, the device works really well and it fits about 20 DVD backups on it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hey I'm no VISTA fan but all my other USB drives work great under VISTA. I tried everything I know and it will not recognize this drive. It works on an XP box but don't try it if you are running VISTA. Sent PNY a support email and have not heard anything. Searched all over for solution and the only one I've found is to return it to Best Buy for a refund.

I've used PNY/Attache-style flash drives for years, gradually moving up in size as my needs required it. Anyone who uses these items won't be surprised with this latest incarnation: it's a larger-capacity, micro-sized data storage tool. It does what it's supposed to, and does it quickly (data is transferred about 1.5 times as fast as my similar 16-gig drive, and four times as fast as the 8-gig I bought in 2006). The "flash" element is for looks only; it's pretty weak compared to other, smaller drives. But do you really care how bright the little "data is copying" light is?
So far, stability seems fine. These larger drives (in general) have a tendency to crash more often than their smaller cousins. This is also (for the moment at least) the largest flash drive you can buy that carries the traditional rectangular flash drive shape. Someone else makes a 64-gig, but it's twice as thick (go figure).
Outside of the price, there isn't much negative to say about it. I bought mine during an after-Christmas sale for half price, and was able to use a $10 Rewards coupon, so I got a real deal. It's Mac compatible, but I don't know if any special software is needed. And anyone who's used PNC knows the deal about the cap that lacks a cord and might become lost. I haven't lost one in five years, but they do crack after extended use.
So, thus far, it's everything I expect. Here's looking to the faster USB 3.0 version that's supposed to be out soon. Regardless, I expect to use this one for at least two years.
