What's great about it: Sleek, black design---usb and other options
What's not so great: Lack of controls on faceplate
I guess I am old school. I like having a volume control knob so made sure my choice had it. The one on this is so small and annoying (bit slippery also) plus the volume increments make you have to crank it around and around. I also miss having the preset station buttons on the head unit. When you want to change a station, 1 second to press a button but not on this unit. There is no mute button on it also. If you need to do that, you have to fumble for your remote and make sure you press the right button. If you want to lower the volume instead of mute, well it takes all day because the volume increments are so tiny. The thing has enough power but so many choices for setting up your equalizer. Is it really necessary to have to try all the options? Can't there be a happy medium? Just when you think you have it figured out, another song comes on and it just doesn't sound great the way it is set up. Remember when you could adjust the bass, mid and high with three sliders on the head unit, don't expect that here. You will need to become adept with the programming built into this thing. With all this whining done, it is a nice unit but I believe the choice was not right for me but I'll have to live with it for now. If you're under 30, you probably never had a stereo that had power, no extraneous options and no required remote and actually still sounded decent. I would recommend this to a friend but only making sure they know what they're in for first.

What's great about it: great sound, excellent features
What's not so great: using the remote @ night
excellent stereo, love the usb jack. it takes time to figure out how everything fits together. once you get the basics down it's a lot of fun getting the sound you're looking for....there are infinite possible ways to make your sound perfect.
the only thing i wish is that the remote control had glow in the dark markings or some sort of illumination....would make it easier at night.
this isn't the type of stereo to tinker with while drving. buttons consist of 'sub folfers' you need to walk through before you get to the place you want to change the sound you want. better to do that in the driveway! once you get the basics, then use the remote to change the options if you're driving.
it's a great stereo and great price too. i'm veru happy with it :)

What's great about it: Great sound and overall easy to use.
What's not so great: Do not like the volume control or how you have to use it to change tracks on the CD play.
The install at the store was top notch! It was done in a timely manner and was shown step by step what was done and how to use the stero. Very happy with it.

What's great about it: great sound quality for the price
What's not so great: very difficult to use
i upgraded from the 2100 to this unit for crossover and sub output control, and what a difference it made. i am still struggling to figure out how to work the controls, so i don't really like that. if you are going to run a sub, get this unit, if not, the 2100 is a great buy.

What's great about it: capabilities
What's not so great: none yet
Purchased this unit to replace another aftermarket head unit. As mentioned in other reviews, proper operation does take some reading of the manual, but you should always read the manual before operating anything. This is a GREAT unit, the link to iPod works great, which was the 1 thing I was looking to do with a new unit. If you are a "gadget" type person, this will work great for you!

What's great about it: Good Price
What's not so great: Ease of use
I could not beat the deal on this radio. For what it does like Satellite/Ipod/ HD; these functions makes the price very attractive. I had the radio for 60 days now and I haven't ran into any problems. The only thing is that you must read the manual before set up and operation because most functions are controlled by the mullt-control (one knob). I was able to hook up XM without ordering the acessories elsewhere. It was relatively painless to get it installed. I was especially pleased that the model and brand was readily supported by XM.

What's great about it: iPod connection, the look, HD and Satellite ready
What's not so great: Not very intuitive.
I really like the versatility of this radio. The iPod controls work great and sounds good. It gets far better reception than radios I've had. It's not very intuitive to scroll through the various function, but once you play around with it you start to see what the developers had in mind. The instruction manual is designed in a way that makes you not want to read it.

What's great about it: Easy to use and program.
What's not so great: Limited visual display
Pioneer has always produced excellent in dash units. This is another example of a great product for the price. The only downside to this particular unit is the lack of customization for the equalizer. With the standard displays on most low level units, you are limited to view each frequency, where as on an OEL display, you are able to see the equalizer as a whole. To some people this may not be a big deal, but if you are thinking of putting subwoofers in your car, you may want to reconsider with a higher model unit. Otherwise, this is a great standard deck that STILL features more than its competition in this price range.

What's great about it: USB iPod/iPhone 3G Interface
What's not so great: Turns off when I plug in the USB cable, or just push on the front of the unit.
I loved this thing at first, but for the past few weeks when I plug in the USB cable, the unit turns off. I thought maybe it was a USB issue, but then I pushed on the front of the unit, and had the same problem. It's still under warranty, but it will probably be a pain to replace. It may just be a quirk with my particular unit. We'll see.

What's great about it: Good price
What's not so great: Ease of use
This radio was installed by the Geek Squad. Took about 2 hours to remove the old stock unit and install this one. Controls take a while to figure out but it comes with a handy remote. Sound is good but you have to adjust the settings; the stock settings make the music sound very flat. The CD player and FM radio sound good but my favorite feature is the ability to connect your iPod via USB to the front of the deck. You can still skip, shuffle, and play multiple playlists through Pioneers radio controls. Very nice. The faceplate comes off to avoid theft but there's no case to put it in like years ago....
All in all a good buy for the price.

What's great about it: Not alot
What's not so great: Pretty much everything
I have had this radio for a few months and really regret this purchase. I bought it mainly for the ipod compatibility. The unit randomly decides that there is no device connected even though it was just playing a song. Right now, it won't recognize the ipod at all. The FM stations have poor reception and it took me quite a while to figure out how to program radio stations - the manual is horrible. I doubt I would be able to exchange this unit, but I would if I could.

What's not so great: NO PLAY OR STOP BUTTONS
i knew it was counterintuitive from reviews i'd read but i bought it anyway because i like the name and the usb ports are kind of rare still. and i figured i'd be quick to learn how to use this complicated device. it seems to me in their pursuit of a simple device they've made it extremely hard to use. did i mention the lack of PLAY and STOP features? even the remote only has a pause button... i wanted to like this machine but i will definitely not keep it.

What's great about it: Easy to install. Just screw connect the wires and your ready to go.
What's not so great: Needs more pre-outs
This little head unit was purchased to replace a perfectly good OEM deck simply because it had the pre-outs and the USB iPod connectivity on the front. Installed it in my 06 CR-V and it was a perfect fit when used with the appropriate dash kit.
Has: Great features, awesome sound, and very versatile custom EQ settings. I've seen HU's that had only high's and low's and the adjustability was limited, but this one was perfect for my needs.
Needs: More pre-outs. If you want to install amps on all the pre-outs, you cannot have both rear and subwoofer outputs, but only one which can be bad if you have a couple 6x9's in the rear and two 12" subs in a box in the trunk.

installed it on my 06 toyota camry xle with JBL package. sounds great once you get the features set up right. ***NOTE: be sure the wire harness (the one best buy says it will fit) fits the factory deck harness. had to wire straight to JBL amp (thanks for the install Judo!). other than that very happy with this product.

What's great about it: USB, features, price
What's not so great: AM stations, hard to figure out controls, functions & features, not easy to use
I was looking for a radio to replace a defective factory unit on a 2004 Toyota Corolla. This unit has a lot of features; satellite ready, HD Radio, USB port and other features I haven't even figured out yet. For the price it is a clean unit and has a lot of features. The iPod connection works well. The sound quality is good.
Remember that just because the unit says it is Satellite, Blue tooth or HD Radio ready doesn't mean that you are done purchasing equipment. These are all extra charge items. Consult your Best Buy install techs as they were very knowledgeable and do a good job installing the radio you choose.
For someone needing a simple, easy to understand and operate unit, this may not be your best choice. Took a while to figure out how to set the presets. There are no preset buttons so it takes a little to figure out to how to get through all the different FM bands and presets on the one control button. Even after reading the instructions (which lacks photo examples), I still don't understand the equalizer, BSM, Local signal and audio operations. The few buttons around the volume control are hard to distinguish, thus making it a challenge for those with less than perfect vision.
The AM stations all have static. This radio is not for people wanting a good AM reception radio in Texas or at least in the Toyota Corolla.
This would be a good unit for someone seeking a lot of features at a bargain price. However, it will be removed before my teenager gets the car as you have to focus on the radio and not the road to do simple functions.
I would buy a easier to understand unit in the future.
