What's great about it: Great value, decent sound, portability, includes 1/8 to 1/4 adapter, a good plus.
What's not so great: Lacks a very strong midrange, highs are not as defined and crystal clear as those of higher priced models.
"The sound quality is good for the price they charge. However, there is a big difference between the sound with sound canceling on and off. When off, the sound is a little on the weak side. The base is not as powerful, the highs are tinny, and the mid range is not enviable. When the sound canceling is on, it does a great job of isolating while improving base performance and mids and highs all around.
All in all a good product for a good price, however not suited for audiophiles."

Perfect Headphones for Working in Loud Environment

What's great about it: Noise Cancellation covers My Diesel Tractor and these headphones fold into my tractors storage compartment
What's not so great: Nothing
"I have owned Able Planet Headphones for more than 3 years and these latest folding Noise Cancellation Headphones are perfect for Working in a Noisy environment with heavy equipment. At the end of a long day on the tractor I am not as tired because the NC feature on the headphones literally takes the equipment sound away and I can hear music or streaming football games while working clearly and comfortably with out having to turn the sound volume way up!!! The Folding feature is great for storage in my tractors storage compartments."

Cancels outside noise, but adds an outboard motor

What's great about it: Confortable, nice carrying case, in line volume
What's not so great: Adds an outboard motor sound in the background to anything you listen to
"This is my first experience with noise cancelling headphones, and today I tested it out at work. Sure enough, it drowned out coworker noise and chatter, but in the background I can hear this putt-putt-putt sound that is like an outboard motor on a fishing boat!
Eventually I got used to it, I guess if other noise cancelling headphones are like this then the other aspects of the headphones are good. They are really comfortable and the in-line volume is good.
But I may now be tempted to try the Bose noise cancelling phones to see if they can drown out noise without hearing the motorboat sound in the background. I love the concept and may be willing to pay more not to hear that sound. But for the price these headphones are as advertised."

Stopped working within two months.

What's great about it: Very comfortable, nice sound, nice look.
What's not so great: They stopped working two months after I bought it. I can't hear through the left headphone.
"I thought i was getting a bargain when I bought these headphones. Like I said above, I thought they were great until the day they stopped working. I'm about to start the warranty fight with Able Planet so wish me luck.

Transformers - Headphones in Disguise

What's great about it: These headphones fold down to be very small
"I bought them for travel. I have one other set of Able Planet phones that I leave at work that I dont want getting damaged in transit (I'm particular about my investments).
I liked my first set so much, that I decided I should give the Able Planet brand another shot. Great move.
Like other reviewers will tell you, these are very high quality headphones. Let me elaborate on the fold-down feature:
1. They fold down to a very small size (about softball size)
2. When erect, they dont flop around. The headphones "lock" open (similiar to the way a switchblade locks open).
3. They close very easily. You cant screw it up, or close them wrong.
The Able Planet site talks a lot about being able to "turn the volume down." I didnt really know what that meant until I listened to the headphones. What they mean is: The integrity of the music is equally as good when listening on a high or low volume.
We have all had headphones that need to be set to high to hear. I finally understand what they mean by "turning the volume down."
I am particular about my investments and spending, and I would buy these headphones again. Price + Quality = Crazy Great Deal"

What's great about it: Performed well in all applications

"So I purchased these to make a business trip more pleasant. I have an iPhone, portable DVD, and my laptop.
First use was in the the terminal where I plugged into my iPhone to listen to my usual mix of music. It clearly filters out the background noise of machinery and air moving while listening to anything from Jack Johnson to Killswitch Engage. With the music off and in active noise cancelling the exterior noise was effectively toned down making for a much more relaxed stay in the terminal. It also allows you to listen to conversations with others or listen in on others if you like to eavesdrop. This is a byproduct I can do without but not having the other noises to bother me it seems less chaotic.
Second use was in the plane with out the cord plugged into the ear phone. I put them on in during the pressurization and up to the point where were able to use our portable electronic devices. During this period of use, I experimented with having the headphones on and off and active and not active. With the headphones on the noise is reduced but you can hear all of the mechanicals and air flowing through the cabin. The noises of people rustling in their seats and conversaitions from the back of the plane that mimic static. When you switch on the active noise canceling the noises fade into a lower static background noise. Conversations from faraway loose the static noise and the air being forced into the cabin looses the annoying punch. Listening to Lost episodes of Lost from iTunes was a great experience. I have had all types of headphones and ear buds. These out performed them all by a long way. The Phillips behind the head earphones do no do half of the canceling of the Able Planets. The $160 Sure Noise Isolating ear buds, cannot even compare in quality and clarity, plus the lack of low end where male voices tend to lie in the frequency range making them pretty useless on a plane for a movie.
The third place I used them was in my noisy hotel room during my extended stay in Oklahoma. A family reunion was happening at the hotel while I was there. These were a blessing to have when the kids are running and screaming through the halls and room above me. I was able to enjoy a movie or music with out disturbance.
Overall these are a great performing product in the middle price range with a higher end performance. They performed in environments that will normally drive me insane. I like that they fold and fit nicely in my cargo pockets. The cord can be removed and the headphones can be used during takeoff and landings. The on cable volume control helps so you can order beverages and snack on the plane without stopping the player. I found them comfortable for the duration of my flights and entire movies in one sitting. The only thing that would be nice it a hard sided case to better protect them so they last for a long time."

"We have lots of lawn to mow at home and our office building so I wanted something that was comfortable to wear a long time and had good noise cancellation. These are wonderful. They are very comfortable and the difference with the noise cancel feature turned on is incredible while sound quality is maintained. I am very happy I purchased 2 of these as they will come in very handy for my 2 children when they watch movies on the plane."

What's great about it: Really awesome sound
What's not so great: Limited color choice
"These are really sweet sounding headphones. Honestly thought I'd pay twice as much for the kind of sound I get from these Able Planet headphones. I'm guessing it's the Linx technology because I had a similar broad, rich sound with a previous model from the company.
Noise reduction property is good enough for my work around noisy fans.
Foldable design with soft coating are both nice features, but less important to me. I don't usually do 'reviews' but this is a value worth sharing."

"I have purchased other Able Planet products because of the Linx Audio.
I travel quite often on the airlines and find that these headphones fold up and fit better in my backpack than the hard carrying case of others.
Last. but not least .... they have a great sound and are very comfortable at a price you can't beat."

"These noise cancelling headphones have significantly increased my grades by blocking out my noisy roomates. They have great sound, and they fold up, so I can take them anywhere. Everyone likes the soft black paint. It feels and looks like a high price headphone, but they where quite reasonable. They're a favorite in my dorm, so I have to keep an eye on them."
