When Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) reluctantly moved to the perpetually overcast town of Forks, WA, and set out to carve a niche for herself, she assumed it would be one similar to the low-profile social position she held back in Phoenix. First on the list of surprises was the unfamiliar attention from the male population of her new high school; second, the attention from one male in particular: Edward Cullen, Vampire (Robert Pattinson). Before long, the unlikely soul mates find themselves in a passionate relationship with a variety of significant setbacks, including Edward's special-needs diet (he doesn't eat humans, but Bella's scent inspires a nearly impossible to harness bloodlust) and the human girl's mortality. Though things proceed relatively smoothly at first (Edward even introduces Bella to his adoptive vampire family), a visiting vampire clan consisting of James (Cam Gigandet), Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), and Laurent (Edi Gathegi) catches Bella's unique scent and threatens the young couple's budding, if dangerous, happiness. James, known for his powerful tracking ability, becomes obsessed with making Bella his next victim. What's great about it: Storyline
What's not so great: Doesn't give as much detail as the book

"Yeah... so I admit it... I am in love with Edward. Having said that, I wish the movie was better. There was so much left out, and if you haven't read the book, then it's easy to be lost and think the acting stinks. I did enjoy the movie, but I wish it would have been better. I was actually a little disappointed at how much was left out in the movie, but I understand there is only so much you can cover in a movie. I also thought it was a little painful to watch some of the acting in a few scenes... it's almost like it's so obviously fake. It's so easy to get involved with the characters when you are reading this series, and it would have been nice to have been as involved with them on-screen. Even so, I am looking forward to the New Moon movie. I would recommend this movie if you have read the book... but don't expect the movie to be as good as the book."

What's great about it: girl-appealing love story
What's not so great: Kristen Stewart, Acting, Artistically uninspired

"The books are good for their genre. The movie is not. This movie doesn't even fit into a genre, certainly not a vampire movie. I know so many girls including my own girlfriend who are obsessed with this movie and the books. It boils down to the fact that this is an over-the-top love fantasy that has struck the emotional core of women nationwide. Its kind of like a boyband, preying upon the hordes of immature personalities seeking a quick, unrealistic, and absolutely unoriginal grip on a specified audience and my my how it has succeeded. The acting is sub-par, story-line as stated before is stale and targeted at [young] women, and when grading this film as a vampire genre it falls short in every way. I do not mean to be so harsh on this movie as it isn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but unless you are the personality type that falls under the previous description I DO NOT suggest anyone see this, it definitely has a SPECIFIC audience that will enjoy it. It sad to think this movie won awards over other much better selections, guess we know who the voters are (it is MTV afterall). One can only hope this Twilight "wave" will end abruptly, but with New Moon approaching it seems unlikely (The story does get better at least). Looks like we will be hearing about Edward for some time to come... sorry fellas :P"

What's great about it: An okay storyline
What's not so great: Everything else, inlcuding the cults that followed

"I really don't see what the big hype is. My sister read all the books and convinced me to see this even though I had doubts to start with mainly because it was a romantic vampire movie. The storyline was okay, the plot was interesting on how and why they were vampires. Other than that, the movie sucked. It was too slow, too cheesy especially in the fight scenes. The sparkling was awkward and the acting was horrible. The only reason it sold so great and won so many awards was because of Eduardo, and his cult. If you want a good vampire movie, watch Underworld 1-3."

What's great about it: The book was decent.
What's not so great: The acting, plot, make-up and special effects were terrible.

"This was almost as bad as Blood and Chocolate! I think this is a good kids movie. In fact, I watched it with my two daughters which are 10 and 13, they loved it. But, this review is for adults. I myself love a good vampire flick, but this movie is just a slap in the face to the vampire genre. The acting, make-up, and special effects were just terrible. It should've been rated 'G'. If you're looking for a good kids movie, I'd say yes. But to everyone else, I'd say NO! Don't waste your time!"

What's great about it: Not a thing
What's not so great: not scary, no gore, i mean come on this has vampires

"A love story. with vampires...ok passable. However this is so disappointing because it is just a movie for teenagers and doesn't explore the darkerst side of what a vampire is supposed to be, which in my opinion is blood thirsty, evil, and dark...to name a few characteristics. It has no gore, nothing really good in the plot and is totally disappointing. Nothing to make you squemish, nothing to make you turn your head, nothing but teenagers kissing. I could watch saturday morning cartoons and be more amused. It took all i could muster not to fall asleep during this and afterwards felt like i was the one who should have been paid to watch this. If you want a horror movie...STAY AWAY FROM THIS. If you want a GOOD love story then STAY AWAY FROM THIS because it doesn't even deliver in that category either. If you are 12 years old and easily amused with a movie that can't make up its mind on what genre to be in and falls WAY short of anything good, if you like bad acting, and Hollywood cuties that will purely make it soley based on their good looks and not on good acting, if you like stories that fall way short of your expectations(if you was expecting what i was expecting, which was good ol' gore and death since this is a "Vampire" movie), then i say watch it. Otherwise don't waste your time...unless someone pays YOU to watch it, then try to wonder why you just wasted over an hour and a half of your life."

"I am absolutely obssesed with this movie. I watch to over and over again. I love it. I do wish they would stay in line with the book but it is still great. I even love the music choosen for the movie. I also bought the soundtracks, they are great too. I would advise every one to read the saga because it is beautiful complelling, and jaw dropping. You will be captured, unable to to put the book down."

What's great about it: Chemistry between the two leads, the locations, the soundtrack (music)
What's not so great: Acting a bit stilted, strays from the book in many parts, some choppy editing

"You have to treat the book and the movie as two separate entities - the movie is an ADAPTATION of the book. If you go in thinking it will be 100% faithful, you will be disappointed.

That said, I really enjoyed the movie. Will it win any awards? No (makeup, maybe). However, if you love romances set in lush locales and set to haunting music, then this movie is for you.

I really liked Rob Pattinson's interpretation of Edward. I could see Bella falling for him. I wasn't in love with Bella's portrayal, but that is due to the combination of the material and the actress chosen to play her. I think it's more material, though - or maybe direction.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable movie. I recommend reading the book first, though, if you haven't already."

What's not so great: Acting, Music choice, Casting, Left out major parts, horrible SFX...list goes on and on and...

"If this movie was not already a book, I would have given it a MUCH better rating, even though it DID have quite a few flaws that didn't have anything to do with its straying from the book. One thing that REALLY Had trouble with in the film is how hard it is for people how have NOT read the book to understand Bella and Edward's love. In the film, it's portrayed as if they are two strangers that are completely infatuated with eachother. The book was much better, so if you plan on reading the book, DEFINITELY do it first before seeing it, so that it doesn't ruin it for you. However, if you don't plan on reading it at all, go ahead and see the film, you may enjoy it much more than the fans of the book.

Also, I would only recommend this to the Hardcore Twilight Fans of the books, because for me, I HAVE to have it in my collection just because I'm such a fan of the books, regardless that I did not enjoy the film so much."

"I made a gave error about this Film. I just watched the fULL sCREEN vERSION. tHAT'S RIGHT! Full Screen. It had class and the Acting alothough Amature night it was good i am not expert but this film has potential and I hope the next one is as good as this one. I will never read the Books, but i am sure the Author is a very good Writer and has taste like my Books but not as good as I am My Books have potential more than twilight did it had a lot of thigs this was out of."

"I found this a very beautiful, exciting vampire romance. Yes, some may find it more geared towards young adults, but I found it to be a great story and I am 36. I am a big fan of Vampire movies and liked the change of the no fangs, tons of blood letting scene of the typical Vampire flick. Seeing this movie and hearing the reviews from a few friends who have seen the movie and read the books, say although the book has more detail, the movie was pretty close to the book. And then of course, I had to order the audiobooks and now cannot wait for them all to be on film."

"I did it backwards and saw the movie first before I touched any of the books. I didn't like the movie at all when I saw it, it had it 's good parts but nothing overwhelming to me. When I read the book, I was even more dissappointed in the movie. The only thing I really like from the movie is the baseball scence. As a person who has read all the Harry Potter books and saw all the movies Twlilight could have been much better than it was. As we know Harry Potter books contain a lot of info, but I've never been as dissappointed as I am in Twilight."
