What's not so great: Design
The product itself is really good except for the one minor design flaw. When the drive is pushed out to connect to the USB port, it keeps slipping back into the casing. One has to lift the laptop or align themselves to make some space to get a good grip. A fix on this design would make using this drive so much easier. Other than this 'good-to-have' feature, we do not have any issues with it till now. I hope it'd stay so for a long time.

Problems with latest version

What's great about it: Features, price.
What's not so great: Write protected glitch
I have several USB flash drives and have always preferred SanDisk products. Bought this latest Cruser 8GB unit from Best Buy two months ago. It worked fine until, suddenly, it went into "write protected" mode on its own. Can't save to or delete from it now. See the SanDisk web site for many identical complaints. No fix or work-around possible. You must return the device to SanDisk for replacement. Clearly, SanDisk has a problem here and isn't forthcoming or proactive about a replacement program. Very disappointing from this (usually) respected manufacturer. Avoid this unit until more information is available and assurance that the problem is fixed on units shipped to dealers.

The Cruzer I was sold is *not* the one pictured here, I purchase a "SanDisk Cruzer Edge 8GB USB 2.0". I did an on-line purchase, got mine at a great price, use for Shuttling media between devices {PC/laptops, TV, tablet, etc.}. Is fast with a great amount of storage for my needs. I worry, though, because the casing for this feels flimsy and fragile; I'm scared I'm going to break it cause I'm a big guy with big hands!!

Purchased 2 and within 4 months both were dead. the first one died after I removed it from one laptop and tried to copy files to the second,, dead nothing nada! and the problem with the second one was a poor design, accidently hit it while plugged in and it BENT, didn't take much either couldn't fully slide it back into the case and 2 days later it died!
Much to fragile for constant use, I won't be getting the slide type anymore my old stick type with the cap works perfect.

I picked this up to replace a 4 year old PNY that failed. I wanted 8GB and have always liked the cap-less design of the Cruizer's. (had a 1GB model previously) I was surprised and impressed at the transfer speed. My old PNY I never had any complaints with but this thing (in comparison) just screams! I don't have the full specs, but it easily transfers at least twice as fast as my last one. I also managed to get this one on sale for around $9 so that just made it sweeter.
