What's great about it: High End Sound at Mid Level Pricing
Lets face it, when you listen to MP3s you are not getting the best music quality....sort of like eating a sundae with fat free syrup. One of the biggest complaints is lack of low end. I shopped around a bit and decided to try these Sonys out after seeing several good reviews. I use a Professional Series pair of Sonys at home and running sound, so I trust their products. These buds come with different size rubber earpieces so you can get them to fit snuggly into your ear. Fit is important, because the seal is what will help enhance the bass response. The other thing is the size of the driver in the headphone. Check out the size on the picture of these buds and you will see they are big. Well folks in this case "size does matter"! These Sonys will deliver a nice full range of sound without breaking the bank. I listen to everything from Motorhead to Yo Yo Ma. I was not disappointed by my purchase.
Best Uses: Gym / Working Out, At home

What's great about it: everything but the thin wires
What's not so great: wires are a tad thin for great durability
frickin’ awesome sound and very comfortable to wear. With a freq response range of 5hz – 24,000 I think it is, these produce sounds you can’t even hear as a human. The bass bumps big time. Excellent pair of buds. Got 3 pairs at clearance prices no less

What's great about it: Sound quality, comfort.
What's not so great: duribility, highs(?)
Great sounding speakers. I didn't have to fidget with the equalizer to get it where I wanted, I left the eq at normal. I was borderline with the highs being a bit too pronounced.
I purchased these in January and now the right speaker is significantly quieter than the left speaker. Disappointing as I'm past the 90 day warranty.

What's great about it: Sound Quality, Weight, Found a Pair for $40!!!
What's not so great: I think the cord is a little fragile looking.
I bought my pair of EX300's a couple of days ago. I upgraded them from a pair of mdr-ex31's which came together with my walkman nwz-638f; they were a great pair, unfortunately i ripped them after closing a car door on them, and unknowingly walking off and pulling them. I actually spliced them, and they work, it's just it's a little annoying when the sound crackles on and off, because of the poor splicing job iv'e done. I had to be luckiest person walking into that Best Buy a couple days ago because When i saw the pair of 300's sitting there, for $40 i was thunderstruck. Thank goodness i found these headsets because i pretty much stole the perfect pair of superior quality headphones and got away with it.

What's great about it: Great Bass, Great Mids and Highs. Better then all the rest.
What's not so great: Could have a larger earpiece option.
Best earphones for the price range and even above this price range.
Much better mids and highs then Shure 115's.
Better bass and tighter mids and highs then Klipsch i4's.
Much better bass and overall sound then Ultimate Ears Super Fi 4's.
BEST. EARPHONES. EVER.

What's great about it: 1) Sound Quality 2) Comfort
What's not so great: 1) Unequal length cords 2) Delicate cords
Using my iAudio7, I tested these against Vmoda, Altec Lansing Backbeat Pro and Klipsch S4.
Vmoda - artificially strong mid bass, lacking clarity at high end. Nice cord.
Altec - lacking clarity at high end, but most durable cord.
Klipsch - Very well balanced but bass was not as strong as the Sony. Also the Klipsch fit into the ear iso deeply it is almost necessary to pull the cord to remove them.
The Sony EX300 is the only earbud to sound balanced and rich with the EQ flat. Test material ranged from the very clean studio sounds of the Sheffield Lab Sampler wPat Coil (Up Close Vol 8), to a mix of Bruce Hornsby, Antoine Dufour with Tommy Gauthier and others. The Sony accurately captures hard hits of the snare, lends warmth and richness to gituar and brings depth to big bass, cello etc. While listening with eyes closed, I have often been startled by what sounded like others in the room - sounds that seemed to come from beside or behind me - but were all replicated by the headphones!
My first pair of EX300 have travelled literally tens of thousands of miles with me over the past year and are a bit ragged. The cord has been repaired with both shrink tube and electrical tape. My repairs have been mid-cord, not at the ends, and are the result of abuse. The original silicone ear tips are still comfortable, seal perfectly and show no wear. They still sound and feel as sweet as the first week of ownership. Others have had durability problems that were possibly related to the unequal cord length. One cord is longer and designed to wrap behind your neck. I find this a nuisance, and have used a small zip tie to shorten the longer cord and create equal lengths.
I recenlty purchased the Klipsch S4 after reading glowing reviews but found them only a close second to the EX300. After a 20 hour "burn-in" of the S4 the sounded nice. If I didn't have the EX300 to test back-to-back I would be keeping the S4's. At equal price I would take the Sony, but this week the Sony is on sale for $8 less which clinches the deal.
Ears and musical prefernces are uniquiely individial, but I have found the Sony to be best sounding earbuds under $100. There are multi driver earbuds selling for two and three times this price that sound awesome. I gave the sound quality a 4 out of 5, which in my opinion is excellent for earbuds. If you want better sound at reasonable cost go a set of Grado or full size headphones.

What's great about it: Clear sound
What's not so great: Light duty cord
Pros: These earphones were very comfortable to wear and had a good length of cord. Bass reproduction is better than most others in its class. The audio is well-balanced and very clear throughout the frequency range. The music sounds very accurate and all the details are crisp. This is a very solid sounding pair of earphones.
Cons: Has a very light duty cord. It got snagged and torn 3 months after I purchased it as I was walking next to a brick wall. I placed some electrical tape around the tear and it still sounds like when I first bought it. Great sound quality for the price.
Would highly recommend these to anyone.

Great Headphones for about 6 weeks.
After that don't even bother, the left ear went out on my first pair and then the right on the second.

What's great about it: clear and deep sound, very loud
What's not so great: not much
the cord is short on one side because it's supposed to go behind your neck. I baught the vmoda for 50.00 and returned them to get thes. The bass hit's a little harder on the vmoda but the sound quality is not as good. These have great bass and great clear sound. Perfect for work.

What's great about it: Comfortable, Great Sound Quality
What's not so great: Cord to the buds look a little delicate
First I bought a pair of Altec Lansing BackBeat Pro's which were $8 more. They were very uncomfortable and kept popping out of my ears and sound quality was about as good as a pair of $20 buds. Returned those and got a pair of these, right away there's a HUGE difference. Very comfortable to wear, very rich sounding audio, and a good cord length. Would highly recommend these.

What's great about it: GREAT Bass, Great Sound Quality, Great Everything
What's not so great: Cord is a little bit short
I love these headphones. The bass is incredible. The sound quality is out of this world. The cord is a little short for me. I am 6'2" and when i walk with these in my pocket, they almost fall out of my ears because the cord rips them out of my ears. Other than that, they have great sound reduction, and it comes with a carrying case.

What's great about it: Comfortable, portable, natural sound production
What's not so great: thin cable, uneven headphone lengths
I have had these headphones for about 4 months now and i have enjoyed them very much. These headphones by far have the best sound quality that i have heard in the sub 100 price range. Instead of the shrilling highs or boomy bass that many headphones have the sonys have a balanced sound. if you are looking for loud and boomy bass these are not for you. instead they have a balanced sound and tight bass that isnt artificially enhanced or changed. in other words your music sounds the way it was meant to sound.
The only problems i see in these headphones is that the cable is very thin and could be prone to breaking in the long run. Also the asymmetrical cable lengths could bother some people and make them hard to wrap up and store.

What's great about it: Nothing except a nice carry case and well fitting buds
What's not so great: The sound is tinny and terrable
These are disappointing. I can't reccomend anything else but I can say don't buy these. Bob Dylan sounds like he's playing guitar through a telephone. The sound is tinny with a high treble, even with the I-Pod set to bass boost. No midrange at all and the bass is hardly recognizable. I'm returning mine and trying something else, especially at this price.

What's great about it: Comfortable, great isolation and dynamic range. Even frequency response
What's not so great: Uneven ear cable length
The 3 sizes of ear buds should fit most quite comfortably and provide a great deal of isolation from outside noises. The high output provides great dynamic range with punchy, tight bass. The only downside, at least for easy on the go storage, is that the right ear bud cord is about 10 inches longer than the right. It makes winding them around something evenly a little challenging These are studio style buds tho, so it does help keep the cord out of the way to one side while listening.

What's great about it: Bass, Sound quality, comfort, actually everything!!!
What's not so great: You car hear the cord bumping into your chest while walking and low level music...
I have tried 6 different headphone in the last 3 days, Bose In-Ear, Shure SE115-K, Sony MDREX85LP/B, Sony MDRAS40EX, Apple In-Ear, and this one... I'm amazed of the sound of the bass and the overall comfort of this earphones, I have never experienced something like this. The sound is A LOT better than all of them except by the Bose which have pretty much the same sound, I couldn't hear the difference, but the Bose don't stay in my ears and this one stay VERY GOOD, actually them been an "in ear" headphones I didn't loose any bass sound just put them on my ears, I didn't need to stick them in to hear for hearing the bass which made them a lot more comfortable to wear....

What's great about it: Non-intrusive, stellar audio quality!
What's not so great: Pricey, thin cable
These are one of the best headphones I have ever owned. They provide unintended noise cancellation while also being comfortable to wear for in-ear earbuds. These earbuds are unintrusive as some others may be and provide stella sound quality. Buyers will find detail in their music that cannot be found with stock headphones.
Some issues that I may have in the future is the cable thickness. These aren't very thick (compared to shure headphones) and may be prone to breaking in the future. These headphones are not for those who are on a budget as they will cost you $80.00 (from this review), but for the sound quality, they are worth it.

What's great about it: Sound quality rocks, comfort perfect, cool case and storage system
What's not so great: Nothing thus far. Only time will tell whether it will be durable
I just purchased this product at a local BestBuy store. The store selection was pretty limited. But I spotted this Sony product and was told it was "New" on the market. I was looking for comfortable, high performing in-ear headphones without noise cancellation feature or other expensive bells and whistles. I checked out the tech specs. The superior frequency response - 5Hz-24 kHz - provides faithful sound reproduction. And with 105 bD sensitivity the sound is powerful. No need for an extra base feature - there's base enough. The 13.55mm driver and neodymium magnet top off a great product. I recommend it highly.
