What's great about it: Trim looks classy, the picture is amazing, and sounds great as well What's not so great: Only 1 component input, remote's a little clunky
"My only real complaint is that the TV only has one component input - my Wii, PS2 (yes... PS2), and DVD player all feature component as their only hi-def output (technically the Wii only supports enhanced definition). I'll be getting an HDMI-supporting DVD player soon, but I'll need to get an external source selector for the Wii and PS2.
The good news is that the TV has 3 HDMI inputs as well as a VGA input (with RCA sound inputs). I can hook up my laptop using high resolution (and watch Hulu.com in hi-def!) and the 3 HDMI inputs mean I have room to grow for a few years.
I'm picky with TV brands, so while Samsungs may cost more than say, Vizio or Sceptre, I'm comforted by the fact that it comes from one of the top manufacturers. Having worked in a TV repair shop, I know that Samsungs are much easier to get replacement parts for and also repair manual availability is higher. This means that if the TV ever breaks after warranty, repairs will be much cheaper and less stressful."

What's great about it: Picture is good What's not so great: TV won't turn on
"We paid about $1200 for this tv a couple of years ago and about 1 year ago it started to hesitate when we turned it on. Then t began making a clicking noise for a couple of minutes before it came on. Now, it clicks for about 30 minutes before it turns on. Once it is on, it works well. I have called around to get quotes on fixing it and it will cost several hundred dollars. Samsung and best buy warranties have expired. Basically, it is more economical to buy a new tv. Save your money and buy another tv."

What's great about it: Beautiful picture What's not so great: Terrible audio
"This TV has a beautiful picture but I was unpleasantly surprised at how bad the audio sounds. No matter how it's adjusted, it just sounds flat and muddy. I guess that is the drawback of making a television that is only a few inches thick. I bought the set for my wife and she doesn't want the clutter of 5.1 speakers all over her TV room so I had to go with a sound bar, which greatly improved the sound."

What's great about it: Picture quality is great, price was fair What's not so great: Audio is lacking
"I bought this TV at the end of December with the idea that it would be a bedroom or study room TV and it has more than exceeded expectations visually. Calibration is everything and once it was done properly, it looked great for broadcast TV, DVD's and a Wii. If you are not a calibration pro, as I am not, finding good starting points for settings can be found online by searching for calibration settings for this Samsung. Fine tune to taste. The PC input has worked acceptably for streaming video sources, too. The only downside has been the audio. The sound out of the built in TV speakers is ok, but I was really disappointed to find that the digital optical output does not send a 5.1 surround signal to my stereo receiver- this makes watching broadcast HD shows slightly less enjoyable. All things considered, though, its been a great purchase!"

What's great about it: whats great is I paid 1400 for a tv less than 2 years ago and it wont work now What's not so great: cant turn it on
"Bought a Samsung less than 2 years ago and it will not turn on. Samsung refuses to do anything about it so all I can do is pay 200.00 to fix it and warn others to stay away from the samsung product. I bought a Sony and I am very happy with it. I will never buy a Samsung product again."

What's great about it: Picture, reasonably-priced, good sound
"I bought the 40 inch Samsung TV in December after considering other brands and having a Samsung 32 inch that was a great purchase. There was a good promotion on the TV. I wanted something that has a good track record and is reasonably-priced and bigger for the living room in the new residence. This TV has decent sound , dependable and great picture along with being dependable. It is fun to watch ball games on the TV. Setup was a breeze. Overall, I am happy with the TV and would recommend the product to others."

What's great about it: excellent price, easy to set up, easy to operate What's not so great: the picture looses a lot of it's sharpness when there's fast action
"this is my first experience with HDTV, so my excitement is not only about this particular model. I have optimum cablevision HD hooked up. The picture (except for the caveat below) is amazing - just breathtaking. The machine has a sleek look, is light and easy to move, has a built in swivel of appx 20-25 degrees. I would have liked the remote to be able to control my cable and DVD. it doesn't. so i programmed my cable remote to control the tv.
switching from cable input to DVD input should be easier. 1) it needs the TV's remote 2) it takes way more key strokes on the remote than it should
the picture looses a lot of it's sharpness when there's fast action"

What's great about it: Great price. Fantastic picture What's not so great: no complaints
"I checked out several HDTV's prior to settling on this Samsung. There were many good deals out there so I did my homework on what brands were the best. I narrowed it down to 3 manufacturers but the Samsung had the right features for what I was looking for. First off, the HDTV tuner is great. I use an antenna for my local channels and this tuner pulls in more channels that are far clearer than the tuner box I previously used. The picture on this tv is crisp bright and clear. It is by far the best picture I have had in home. Every signal I use from DVD's to Netflix streaming video ( thru my xbox 360 ) look fantastic. The remote is a large and easy to use. I especially like the source menu. I have a number of components hooked up to this tv including my pc, cable, xbox 360, DVR and a blueray player. The source menu shows you a list of your component inputs and when to arrow up to a specific input it shows you what that component is and what is currently showing on that component before you choose it. Very nice. I paid $700 for this TV and am very happy with the purchase. Highly recommend looking at Samsung for your next HDTV LCD purchase."

What's great about it: The picture, which is the most important thing. What's not so great: It doesn't do anything special. Collects dust.
"I got this for my mom since I have a similar model. First of all, plasmas are better than LCD's in my opinion. If someone tells you plasmas have issues with burn-in, then slap them. Okay, don't slap them, but don't believe them. I don't think they can burn in any more than a tube TV could. This Samsung has a great HD picture. The SD quality isn't bad, but that's not why you bought this. If you buy an HDTV and don't have HD going to it, then that's like buying a Corvette and never driving over 20 mph. My advice is to go to CNET's site and put in your model # and "calibration" to get a starting point for the best specs for your viewing pleasure. Watching an HDTV straight out of the box will probably blind you in a matter of months. LOL! The TV collects dust like no other. Having said that, it's easy to get rid of it. The sound isn't overwhelming, but it's not that bad at all. The menu has a lot of options, but the instruction manual really doesn't help you figure out what they're for. Sure, there's a description, but most people haven't a clue on when to use it. I hate I don't have anything groundbreaking about this TV, but it is what it is: a solid, excellent quality, great price TV that your friends will envy."

What's great about it: Picture, price, ports What's not so great: Sound is just ok, no USB port
"This is my third Samsung TV. I have a large DLP in my basement, and this one is replacing a 8 year old glass CRT SD TV. I've always been a fan of Samsung's quality versus price in its mid-ranged TV's. This TV is no exception. The picture is great, even sports look great despite its 60Hz refresh rate. Pixelation in fast motion is only occasionally noticeable, but never bothersome.
The viewing angle was important to me. This is the only TV on the TV wall that I could still really see from a full 178 degrees. It is still just as bright from an extreme angle as it is looking straight on.
I have an upscaling DVD player and TiVo HD hooked up to this. I still have another HDMI port to add a game system. There are plenty of ports. I do wish there was a USB port for firmware upgrades or showing pictures. But, my TiVo shows pictures, so that's not a big bother.
The sound is just ok. You will definitely need to play with the settings to get the sound just right. None of the built in defaults are quite right for me. The advertised volume leveling doesn't really seem to do much.
All in all, I am very impressed with this TV. The quality versus price is really unbeatable. Go cheaper than this, and you'll notice a drop in quality."

What's great about it: Great Price, Great Picture What's not so great: Not 120Hz, dust collector on gloss
"This is the best buy for your money, it leave's you enough to buy that Blu ray to complete the Video experience if ya feels me? Picture is great and bright, plus with 3 default picture modes, its great for gaming in dynamic, watching tv in normal, or for movies...in movie mode. Football even looks great in HD. I have this hooked up to my Xbox 360 Elite via HDMI and digital optical to my 5.1 surround, best gaming experience or great for movie lovers if your into that Netflix. Get this TV, its great. Remote is definitely not the best, it has to be pointed right at the sensor in the bottom corner, but if you get a Samsung Blu ray player, you can sync them together which I thought was cool and simple, or if you have the comcast remote, that's the best. Hope this was helpful if you your interested in the TV. Plus the 40incher is a perfect size."

What's great about it: Easy to set up, Fair price What's not so great: Remote control doesn't work very well. You need to point it up & out to turn the channels/volume or it won't respond
"TV overall is great. However the remote has poor response. if it's not pointed the right direction the TV doesn't respond to it... sore on the arm after channel surfing but the quick fix was the universal remote that came with the HD box through our cable company. The menu is somewhat confusing at first, but good once you get the hang of it. Overall very pleased with the picture and features."

What's great about it: good value for price I paid What's not so great: no S-video input, average picture without Hi-def
"Ordered on-line because of sale price Friday night, picked up in store Saturday morning. Easy initial setup although I made picture and sound adjustments to my preference. Digital picture is good but I then got a High-Def box from my cable company and the High-Def picture is great. Sound is average, OK for regular TV programs, but I will eventually hook up an external sound system for movies and music. Overall, a good buy for a little over $700."

What's great about it: Crisp Pictures in HD channels or 1080 upconvert dvd What's not so great: If it is an action movie or game, some pixelation occurs, i barely watch those so don't care
"I purchased this tv actually in Omaha NE at Nebraska Furniture Mart when I was actually looking for some furniture about a year and 2 months. At first I had just over the air HD channels then decided to get hd cable. Now I have Dish HD and wow, after daily use for at least couple hours every day, it consistently works with no issues. I did absolutely no research on this tv at all, pretty much just compared the pictures from other sets, this one won hands down. I did purchase the optional extended warranty so of course I haven't had any issues, had I not, probably would have died a day after the manufactures warranty ran out. I gave this to my parents for the family room since their Hitachi projection screen tv of 8 years died. I am buying another one, to replace it, however in 120hz. My parents are in their 50's and love it. It is hooked up via monster hdmi cables to the sat and also the sony dvd sound system as I didn't like the speakers. I have always had my tv hooked up to a sound system. With all these electronics these days made in China, I just hope my next one works as good as this one. I think the other brands probably have the same issues ie not turning on, just quit, etc. lets face it they are all made in China. And as always, now this tv is about $300 less than last year, but at least I did get 0% for 3yrs."

What's great about it: Super easy setup, excellent sale price, good size for bedroom What's not so great: Nothing I can really fault Samsung for
"This television (actually all my Samsung HDTVs - this is #3) was very easy to set up. I took it out of the box, put it on my stand, plugged in the HDMI, power, and component cables..and voila. Samsung has easy menus for configuration of tv capability to my U-verse signal. The blacks for this LCD are very good, and there are good selection choices to adjust color if you want. I like the movie contrast selection for most viewing, so that's the only change I made out of the box (other than setting 1080 on the tv and my Uverse box). EASY I agree with the previous reviewer that I don't see the need for 120hz yet. I mention the "not so great" part of this TV is "nothing I can fault Samsung for. What I mean by that is that TV broadcasting (signal) needs to be cleaner and better before I really think 120 or greater refresh rate will make a difference big enough for day to day television viewing and even football. It probably makes a difference on BluRay...but unless you're exclusively watching BluRay..why spend extra hundreds on the higher refresh rate? 60 is still good .. I'm very happy with this purchase. (as I have been with my other Samsung HDTVs).
I rate picture 5 stars (use a power/signal filter and set your signal correctly!), and sound only 3.. really I don't know how good or bad it is. I use a receiver and 5.1 surround - not the tv speakers. And features? What features? I haven't wanted to mess around with any features yet... I'm just enjoying the crisp picture on my large screen..
My only suggestion of accessories is to definitely buy a Monster power filtering surge protector for the tv/cable signal and power outlets. It really does make a huge difference in your HD viewing."
