What's great about it: light up button on remote, swivel base

Had the tv for 2 days when the sound suddenly started going all the way up to max volume (100). It happened a few times a day, completely random. When it would increase in volume there was no way to lower the volume except by unplugging it. All buttons seemed to freeze, and the power button would not work on either remote or tv itself. The screen itself seemed to lose picture quality within a few days, lots of lines in the screen would also randomly appear (it was connected to HD cable by HDMI cord)..maybe I was unlucky and received a lemon, but I ended up trading for a Sony.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: The picture quality is good. I have used the TV now for about 1 month. I have had no problems at all with it.
I have had this TV since the super bowl weekend. This is an excellent size for my apartment. I thought I would need something smaller, but this was well worth the investment. This is exactly what this TV is about. Make an investment to buy the TV with the higher quality. This is for sure the best I have ever seen.

What's great about it: Great picture, Easy Features
What's not so great: Poor Sound Quality
This is my second Samsung HDTV and I am again very pleased with the great picture quality and the ease of use. However, if you plan on having this set as your primary TV, you should invest in a surround sound system or a receiver. The speakers are located at the bottom of the TV and not of the best quality for movie viewing or sporting events.

What's great about it: Picture
I bought this set for my mother whose mobility is limited so she watches a lot of TV. She is very pleased with it. Since I see her almost every day, I have also observed the excellent picture quality myself.
She needed a set for basic use and this one does the job quite well. Unless you have specialized needs, this is a good choice from the Samsung lineup.

What's great about it: Easy to setup, Great picture right out of the box
What's not so great: No instructions to program remote to Samsong DVD.
We bought this TV for a 80th birthday present for my Mother-in-law. They love the set. They really like the swivel base. They have set the TV between the living room and dinning room so now they can turn TV so they can watch easily from both rooms. I was a little disappointed that there was not programing instructions with the remote to use it with DVD. We did buy them a new Samsong DVD player at the same time.

What's not so great: Sound is lacking but i have really good klipsch computer speakers
I bought 2 of these as I saw them on sale for $660. I use them as dual display computer monitors and its the best decision I made. Why use a little computer monitor anymore when you can use your tv as a monitor. They all mostly have VGA inputs. The resolution is still up there 1920 x 1080 and the picture quality is off the chain. I would recommend this samsung tv to anyone.

What's great about it: Great picture, stylish, doesn't take up alot of room
What's not so great: Needs a sound bar or home theater if you want great sound
This is an excellent TV. You will need to upgrade to HD TV if you don't already have the service or the picture will not display the way it's supposed to. Looks great on a black glass TV stand if not installing on a wall. The new slimline TV's all need a better sound system source, so I will eventually get a soundbar or home theater system to boost things up, however it's decent without one. Love my Samsung!

Got this TV on Superbowl Sunday (how cliche are we?) The game looked just OK. I called our cable provider (realizing that cable box had sound issues - thought it was old TV, but had same issues w/ new one) and they came out with an HDMI cord, an updated cable box and programmed the TV for me. We pay for HD box/service, so I guess that's why we got the cord... anyways, with the new box/cord, the picture is PERFECT. Don't pay for an HDMI cord if you have HD service through your cable provider - they'll give you one. If you don't have an issue that requires a service call, you can go to a cable service center and pick up a cord. It DOES make a HUGE difference. Before cable guy came out, my husband was ready to return the TV, now he (and I!) LOVE it!

Amazing TV, especially for the price. I rated sound a 4, but that's only because I'm going to purchase a surround sound system. For an average household that just needs a tv, the sound is perfect.
I chose Samsung because they're a very good company. I also have a smaller Samsung computer monitor 22'' as well as another 32'' Samsung television.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: excellent contrast, detail
What's not so great: sound is mediocre
If you don't need the extras, like pip or internet widgets, this basic Samsung does the job for the same price as as a 32 inch Westinghouse cost a few years ago. The only weak area would be the internal speakers. You really need an external sound system, or home theater in a box to round it out, but then that's probably the case for just about any tv these days.

What's great about it: Trim looks classy, the picture is amazing, and sounds great as well
What's not so great: Only 1 component input, remote's a little clunky
My only real complaint is that the TV only has one component input - my Wii, PS2 (yes... PS2), and DVD player all feature component as their only hi-def output (technically the Wii only supports enhanced definition). I'll be getting an HDMI-supporting DVD player soon, but I'll need to get an external source selector for the Wii and PS2.
The good news is that the TV has 3 HDMI inputs as well as a VGA input (with RCA sound inputs). I can hook up my laptop using high resolution (and watch Hulu.com in hi-def!) and the 3 HDMI inputs mean I have room to grow for a few years.
I'm picky with TV brands, so while Samsungs may cost more than say, Vizio or Sceptre, I'm comforted by the fact that it comes from one of the top manufacturers. Having worked in a TV repair shop, I know that Samsungs are much easier to get replacement parts for and also repair manual availability is higher. This means that if the TV ever breaks after warranty, repairs will be much cheaper and less stressful.

We paid about $1200 for this tv a couple of years ago and about 1 year ago it started to hesitate when we turned it on. Then t began making a clicking noise for a couple of minutes before it came on. Now, it clicks for about 30 minutes before it turns on. Once it is on, it works well. I have called around to get quotes on fixing it and it will cost several hundred dollars. Samsung and best buy warranties have expired. Basically, it is more economical to buy a new tv. Save your money and buy another tv.

This TV has a beautiful picture but I was unpleasantly surprised at how bad the audio sounds. No matter how it's adjusted, it just sounds flat and muddy. I guess that is the drawback of making a television that is only a few inches thick. I bought the set for my wife and she doesn't want the clutter of 5.1 speakers all over her TV room so I had to go with a sound bar, which greatly improved the sound.

I bought this TV at the end of December with the idea that it would be a bedroom or study room TV and it has more than exceeded expectations visually. Calibration is everything and once it was done properly, it looked great for broadcast TV, DVD's and a Wii. If you are not a calibration pro, as I am not, finding good starting points for settings can be found online by searching for calibration settings for this Samsung. Fine tune to taste. The PC input has worked acceptably for streaming video sources, too. The only downside has been the audio. The sound out of the built in TV speakers is ok, but I was really disappointed to find that the digital optical output does not send a 5.1 surround signal to my stereo receiver- this makes watching broadcast HD shows slightly less enjoyable. All things considered, though, its been a great purchase!

What's great about it: whats great is I paid 1400 for a tv less than 2 years ago and it wont work now
What's not so great: cant turn it on
Bought a Samsung less than 2 years ago and it will not turn on. Samsung refuses to do anything about it so all I can do is pay 200.00 to fix it and warn others to stay away from the samsung product. I bought a Sony and I am very happy with it. I will never buy a Samsung product again.

I bought the 40 inch Samsung TV in December after considering other brands and having a Samsung 32 inch that was a great purchase. There was a good promotion on the TV. I wanted something that has a good track record and is reasonably-priced and bigger for the living room in the new residence. This TV has decent sound , dependable and great picture along with being dependable. It is fun to watch ball games on the TV. Setup was a breeze. Overall, I am happy with the TV and would recommend the product to others.

this is my first experience with HDTV, so my excitement is not only about this particular model.
I have optimum cablevision HD hooked up. The picture (except for the caveat below) is amazing - just breathtaking.
The machine has a sleek look, is light and easy to move, has a built in swivel of appx 20-25 degrees.
I would have liked the remote to be able to control my cable and DVD. it doesn't. so i programmed my cable remote to control the tv.

switching from cable input to DVD input should be easier.
