What's great about it: amazing picture, easy to set up, lightweight What's not so great: nothing so far
"i just picked up this TV yesterday since it went on sale for 1599.99, the same price as on black friday. all i can say is that i'm blown away. i was a little nervous about buying this tv after reading some of the reviews but i am so glad i pulled the trigger on this. i also purchased a sony home theater and tv stand, but even without the home theater the tv speakers seemed decent. set up was simple. i hooked up my ps3 and put in a blu-ray from netflix, transformers revenge of the fallen, the movie was bad but wow... it was like there were robots in my living room. looked so good it was scary. it almost looked TOO real. watching sports in HD on this is awesome, it's like i'm right there at the game. words can simply not describe how good the picture is. the store setups do it no justice. i also like that the included stand allows you to turn the set from side to side. this tv will catch the eye of anyone who comes to your house and their jaw will drop. i highly recommend this item."

What's great about it: Picture What's not so great: Widgets/ PIP
"Great picture, good sound. Widgets are weak. PIP is only on RF ANT/COAXIAL Input. My HD Boxes only use Composite, Component or HDMI outputs so I have to down convert from 3 BOXES & add a switch to use the PIP. The PIP picture looks good though.
Be prepared to run alot of cables if you want to hook up games, internet access , video players & multiple signals.
The Power cord is short for wall mounting so you may want to have an outlet behind your mounting location if running cables behind the walls or exterior mount a cable channel to run all of your cables. Or if all else fails have it professionally installed."

What's great about it: Crystal clear picture using HD channels What's not so great: Remote should have more features rather than having to use onscreen displays
"WOW, what a picture! I never realized how much I was missing until I bought this LED HD TV. Watching shows in High Def is a wonderful thing, but watching them on this Samsung 46" TV is amazing. There are times it actually appears to be broadcasting in 3D, the clarity is that good. I shopped around trying to decide what kind of wide-screen to get to replace my 32" Sony Wega (a 200 lb behemoth) and I considered Plasma (too hot, burn-in issues), the LCD and LED. I was almost immediately sold on the LED based on the features and other user reviews. Plus, I wanted to buy from a well respected high end maker such as Samsung. Pioneer was the Cadillac of wide-screen HDTV's, but since they stopped production the next best is Samsung.
Ok, so I've said enough about how good the picture is, so let me discuss some of the other features, including those that aren't so good. The sound is below par at best. Get external speakers and an audio tuner to capture all the sound this picture deserves. While it is an added expense, it's well worth it. There are many features on this TV I'm not sure I'll be using...yet. It has the ability for internet connection, computer to TV connection and other things I haven't gotten around to yet. The remote could use more buttons to access features. Too much of having to go through different screen menus to get it to do what you want, such as activating Picture-in-Picture (PIP), and switching the sound between each picture. This model comes with a built in Digital TV tuner, so if you use a cable box you can split the Line-in to go to the box and to the TV to be able to use PIP. You will only get Over the Air broadcasts such as the major Networks..ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB, etc., about 25-30 in all depending on where you live. Since I like the sit-coms and sports its a great way to get to watch both at the same time.
I waited for this model to go on sale and wound up purchasing at Best Buy. 10 days later it went on sale for $100 less and they were giving a $100 Best Buy gift card. No problem. Went back with the receipt and they honored the new sale So the gift card will be going towards the external sound system.
It's great when family and friends come over and they just sit and stare at how great a picture it is. There have been nothing but good things said about it.
I highly recommend this TV. The picture will be even better once you get it home as retailers lighting don't do any of these TV's justice. I think Plasma's are now old school, so try to go with the LED models. You won't be disappointed."

What's great about it: good picture but not great for the price What's not so great: sound need surround sound or bar
"Many excellent features. If I had it all to do over I could have bought a samsung lcd tv for half the price and been just as happy. Will admit looking at them side by side you can see some difference but at home the lcd would have looked just as good to me in quality of picture. Not sure how the sound is on lcd but sound is terrible on the led for the price you have to pay for it. All in all good set but i think over priced for what you get."

"This is my first LCD TV and I couldn't have expected more. The picture quality is fantastic!! Playing games and watching blu-ray movies using the PS3 on this TV is just amazing!! I highly recommend you visit a Best Buy store and check it out for yourself. I gave the sound a 3 but it's pretty good for such a thin TV. I purchased a Sony speaker system which has amazing sound, so it doesn't matter to me how good the speaker is."

What's great about it: Picture was very nice and clear. What's not so great: FlashLight effect is very strong
"Bought this end of nov and set it up and the picture was great. The 120hz motion was overwhelming on movies and could only be used for sports. I tried many setup from different websites and this helped but while watching a movie in letterbox you could see the light shinning from the corners. Some times it was faint but on the new harry potter movie it made up my mind the return this set because the light was bleeding into the scene during the dark parts of this movie.I feel samsung has rushed this technology into the market before it's ready and dont know how the 7100,8000,8500 series perform but the 6000 was not worth the deep blacks it is known for. I exchanged it for a 52xbr9 and couldn't be happier. The color is more natural,no flashlight effect, deep blacks and so many more features it was a no brainer. There's more to a tv than contrast ratings"

What's great about it: light and thin What's not so great: well, i don't know
"Best Buy was great! The guy I spoke had the 411 on everything. The TV was easy setup. Looks super great in my living room. With Blueray, it has mind blowing image. I am a little confused (and ignorant) about the whole HD thing. There is some obvious blurring, which kinda erks me because buying LED with 1080p should take care of that. However, I learned that not all channels are HD. MY Bad! I guess I assumed perfection, for the price $1749, and that all blurring would go away. Some channels are prestine. In the store LED looked so much better than plasma or LCD. Come to find out one of the reasons is because the images were through a blueray. Geek squad is supposed to come out and calibrate my unit, so maybe that will help. Overall I am happy, a HUGE upgrade from where I was, however I am really trying to justify my purchase. I still perfer LED over LCD or plasma because of the life span and clarity. I guess for the price I expect perfection. Maybe I am not setting it up right. I don't know, maybe I have to buy some other gadget from Dish network to get optimal image. If anyone has any ideas on how to adjust setting or whatever, let me know."

What's great about it: Easy to setup. Fit flush on the wall, can access my network server, online features What's not so great: No NETFLIX YET?! Cmon Samsung! Speakers are weak
"This is the best TV set I have ever owned. Did replace a 5 year Old plasma, and not only the image is better, the power consumption is a 2/10th of what my Plasma was!
It took a couple of days to get the right mix of picture clarity and removing the "Soap Opera Effect" of 120/240hz tv, but the picture quality is the best I have ever experienced anywhere! My set is hanging on the wall, kind of floating 3 feet in the air, and my guest are flabbergasted by this set! I wish I could have a purchased the 55 in one.... But I only paid 1500 for my set, with a BD player.
As mentioned, the speaker are not delivering a good sound experience. It is ok for watching the news, but you really want to hook this set to a Home Theater sound system.
Network connectivity was for me a must, since I could get rid of the pc i used to stream movies. It works flawlessly, but I can't wait for the Netflix capability..."

What's great about it: Picture quality, ease of set up What's not so great: sound quality. definitely need another audio source
"I had walked into BB wanting to buy the Samsung 650 series LCD, but they were out and I didnt want to wait for new stock to arrive. This is a great t.v., dont listen too much to the haters. Sure, some people have gotten defective products, but in these days of everything being outsourced, and mass marketed, almost every manufactured product from automobiles to electronics will have a lemon or two.
Also, another word about the negative reviews here and on C$ET. If you look closely enough at something, especially in a laboratory/controlled environment you are bound to find flaws in almost everything.
I consider myself an above average consumer. Im not a complete techie, or audiophile/videophile, but I know quality, and know good sound and I know good video.
First the Bad: Sound quality is tolerable, but leaves alot to be desired. This is because the speakers are in the BACK, the only place where there is room for them. This t.v. is so thin there isno place on the front or bottom for them. Not that big of a deal, as anyone who has the money to buy this probably has the money for the sound bar, or already has a home theatre setup of some kind at home.
Audio connections:
Analog audio out requires a special Y-link cable (1/8" to two RCA), why they couldnt just add a couple of RCA jacks is beyon me.
Optical audio out: I had trouble with this. There does not seem to be enough clearence around the jack for this to easily accept the optical cable I bought. Plus the door to the jack broke off, so I now need to have the cable held in place by tape. It still works, and Samsung is sending a tech out to replace the jack, at which time I will ask him to recomend a cable.
Samsung WIFI/USB adapter is expensive: I dont know why they dont include this. It is $80.00 to buy. Luckily I was able to use the one the came with my BDP 3600 blu-ray player to expolre the info-link features...With this model all you get is news and weather. Kind of lame.
Glare: This set well have glare if used in a bright room.
The Good:
PQ is absolutely stunning. HD TV broadcasts are very good, some being better than others. I watched a couple of episodes of CSI Miami, and was simply blown away by the PQ. It seems the actors are right there and you half expect them to walk out of the screen. regular DVD's and bluray DVD's have the same effect. There is nothing to complain about here.
Some people have complained about uneven lighting, and the LED backlighting affecting PQ. I have not experieinced this. I watched two movies so far, Resident Evil Extinction, and Underworld (first is a really bright movie, second is very dark). I didnt see any issues with either.
The only times I noticed the LED backlighting were when credits were being rolled at the end of a movies, and during underworld, when moving to a new chapter and the screen turns black momentarily. It is noticeable, but not bothersome (not to me anyway). Im sure the videophiles out there would be bothered by this, but to be honest, for normal viewing, by a normal, average consumer I dont consider it a big deal.
All in all a great set. I wish it had been cheaper, but I have no buyers remorse"

What's great about it: Amazing Picture probably the best picture I saw when shopping for tvs. What's not so great: Blackness uniformity is somewhat present but with adjustment of picture settings very negligible.
"Great Tv because the picture is amazing the best there is out there especially since the price has dropped dramatically. The best when watching in light but still pretty amazing in the dark there is a slight LED light bleeding that may come from corners especially when black bars are present if movie doesn't take up whole picture but really negligible. The other reviews here make it out to be disasterous but its probabaly because they shelled out a ton for this TV when it first came out and expected it to be flawless. YOu can get this at about 1500 or less which just in the picture quality alone is worth it just liek they said look out your window sill and its like looking into this Tv when in HD or a blu ray movie. Some small issues with darkenss uniformity and the LED bleeding but hardly a sticking point. Just make some fine adjustments to your liking and you won't even notice the difference enjoy."

What's great about it: Directly out of the box, the picture quality was as good as it is in the store. What's not so great: The sound out of the box is adequate but I will need to upgrade to soundbar or other system.
"I researched my purchase for weeks and finally decided on this model. I purchased it for 1500 bucks on "Black Friday" with some reservation. It was beautiful right out of the box. There was no need to pay the Geek Squad for a home visit to calibrate the screen. While I would have liked to get the 8500 series for its full LED backlighting (the 6000 has LED on the edges only) the 6000 makes me very happy for the price. I am completely satisfied with the purchase."

"I just bought this tv on black friday. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the extra money for the LED but it seems to have been well worth it. The picture quality is amazing, I can;t get over how realistic blue-rays look. It's AMAZING!!!! The only bad thing is probably the sound quality, because the speakers are in the back. If you turn it up louder its okay for movies, but I have a surround sound system which is amazing and I would recommend getting one. Great TV over all, don't regret buying it one bit."

What's great about it: picture quality, high end technology, everything you expect from Samsung. What's not so great: Nothing. Maybe price.
"Purchase LED TV 3 months ago. After i returned a 47 LCD which i paid $1200. For an extra $400 I went with the 46" Samsung LED TV. Right out of the box you can see a picture unlike any other with 3,000,000 - 1 contrast ratio, which you will not get with a LCD. TV is in my living room and my favorite part is the attention it gets from all my friends and family. Dont be scared of the high price tag its worth it and you will be glad you went out and got it."

"My wife and I bought this at Best Buy for $1850, put it in the car and brought it home, set it up and was watching a Blue Ray movie on it in less than 2 hours. There was some connection issues when connecting Direct TV and using the Samsung Blue Ray HTS that we have. Had to connect the Direct TV HD DVR to the HTS and from the HTS to the TV to get the sound to work properly when watching Direct TV. We have more issues with the Samsung blue ray HTS. The TV is great. The picture quality is out standing, both from the Direct TV receiver and from the blue ray HTS. We have not had to change any of the color settings."

What's great about it: Fantastic Picture What's not so great: Pittiful Sound
"Do yourself a favor, spring for the soundbar or add on sound system of some sort. It's obvious that all the development money was spent on making the tv thin and the picture fantastic. But thats where it stopped. The sound comes out the bottom so if the TV isn't against a wall and positioned so the sound will bounce there isn't much volume at all.
This TV is a fantastic, beautiful piece of furniture, absolutely gorgeous picture. Creature comforts... not too much. Closed caption is only available on the coax hookup but the super picture comes on the component hookup. We overcame that by turning closed caption on in the cable box.
The 1/8" audio out wasn't thought through because it is not controlled by the mute on the supplied remote. So plan on purchasing a 3rd party clicker. Nor is the external sound system volume controlled by the TV's remote. No headphone jack is available.
Setup was a bit bumpy. Changes to settings on the cable box were necessary.
We will keep the TV, again, beautiful picture second to none. But beware purchasing the TV is just the start."

"The picture quality is superb. Sometimes it almost seems like movies are 3D. It has the best picture quality, but the sound is barely audible. Luckily I also purchased the sound bar so now I have great sound. Don't buy this tv for the internet extras because they are worthless. You only have access to weather, news, & stocks. I almost had buyers remorse but everytime I watch a movie or HD channel the quality of the picture makes it worth the price. Be prepared to spend alot of money on extras such as a sound bar, the samsung wall mount, and installation."
